He wasn't talking about reffing, he was talking about becoming an official.

Paying attention to what you're quoting and posting is best for getting your desired results, Cipher.

Well really it's a process, people don't become officials just like that but there's no clear guidelines to becoming one just like becoming a moderator on a forum or something. You just have to work towards it I guess?

My use of "established institutions and methods" was a deliberate word choice. The fact that your constructive criticism isn't thoroughly researched turns it from "constructive" to "not constructive," in which case the constructive criticism is just criticism--and criticism is, by definition, making a rather severe judgment against something in order to seek change. Berating is to rebuke something (again in the interest of change.) Syllogistically speaking, my use of the word "berate" is not misplaced.

That was the point. Well, the "would not work," was the point. The rest of that isn't why it wouldn't work. The best that can be done is to acquire hard-working officials and hope they do their job. We have hard-working officials, and they do their job.

The same way it's been done for the past two months: Ask them if they're interested, and if they are, give them the knowledge and practice they need in order to feel secure about their skillset.

Still, they won't know what the fuck they're doing.

It's not good for the morale and spirit of the URPG to have noobish officials.

    :look:

so what you're saying is everyone except for the staff is a n00b?
Ok thats the first fucking case of arrogance i've seen from your staff.. surprising.
Right now I'm undergoing training to be a ref, from the refs, I'll pass the test and become a ref, and then hopefully a official soon after. Then we'll see who is the fucking noob.
    Thank You.

No, the majority of people from bmg are noobs because they joined 3 days ago and have no idea what the hell they're doing.

Sorry if I offended you or anything, you just took it wrong.

Sure they're new thats where BMGF is better than other forums. We don't look down upon them or call them noobs. We help them understand the format and become better. I know my way around very well around the forums and also to quite some extent the URPG section. Everytime I see a wandering new user or someone who has made a mistake, I don't go up to them and say "Hey what a noob, you suck thats all wrong" (not that you do either), whereas I go and help them and tell them what mistake they've made and help them correct it.
It is important for ALL the users to feel home at the URPG, right now it all seems like an outsider's job. It is important to intigrate BMGF members into the URPG staff to a) help you finish work quicker, let things run quicker, lessen the load on the current staff. b) make it seem more "home like". Sure BMGF is new to it, we just need proper guidance and we can be staff. Scourge of Nemo asked me if I wanted to take a course to become a ref/ranger/judge/grader. I am going through training for ref so for the two reasons mentioned above and will be trying for grader/ranger later and I want to become an official so I can help out the new members joining and stuff..

Those are the various things i feel

    No offence taken.

URPG has always hated 'noobs'. The oldfags pick on the newfags. If they take it, they become oldfags and the cycle continues.

Noob =/= newb. There's nothing wrong with having ambition, and if he wants to try and prove himself as an official, we should help him. Not go all 'No, you're a noob, you won't make it', because as far as I can see, he's handling this far more maturely than any noob I've ever seen.
