What I don't understand is why it wasn't the same as the game in the first place.

I believe it was to make up for the fact the normal moves were at a 0% chance, so if you gave +1 moves a 25% chance it averages out to 12.5% which is the actual +1 Chance, yeah I don't really know. .-.

This, so far, makes the most since on why it's a 1/8 instead of anything else. I think if you rolled, say, 10/80 or anything bigger you'd just feel like there's a higher chance because there's more numbers, but logically it's still the same ratio. I say the refs made a choice, and I trust in them because their the oldies, they know what their doing, and you aren't so you should listen to them and try to understand it from their point of view, so just go with the flow.

Also, if this was just for 'discussing' I don't see how calling the higher refs 'idiots' is necessary.

Muse, I wasn't calling the higher refs idiots. I was running off the lesser-used statement "We're all entitled to our own stupid opinions" and making a reference that, because the bit after the announcement link and nutshell was my opinion, it was therefore my stupid opinion and therefore the opinion of an idiot. I didn't mean any offence towards any senior ref with this statement, and if I did piss anyone off with that, I duly apologise.

But seriously, give me a bit of breathing room here before pointing fingers at me, I get enough of it at home as it is.

That's neither productive or on topic >.>

Cut him some slack, he did it once and he hasn't done anything since.

So this post isn't entirely off-topic xD

Personally I'm for having all attacks have a critical hit chance, but if it really does substantially slow down battles then maybe it is worth it to remove crits on regular moves. Plus you guys have been doing this for years, you know what you're doing haha
That being said, high crit chance moves having their percentage chance changed to what they are in the game does make sense. It still gives Critical-focusing pokemon an edge.
After all, even with only a 12.5% chance, you can have a pokemon with super luck to have a 25% chance, and further have it hold an item that increases crit chance for a total 50% chance.
If you're relying on critical hits, use those. Otherwise you're not gonna be very good at your job.
Absol and Honchkrow both get Super Luck, which means they'll have a base 25% chance with high-crit chance moves anyway.

1/10 = 10/100. The bigger numbers just make it look like there's more chance. Like Near said, the only reason it's 1/8 is so that we have the exact chance. 5/40 would have EXACTLY the same chance of CH'ing as 1/8. 12/100 =/= 1/8

I'm also glad that we've decided on this, since I still remember asking about this once and being told I didn't know how to play Pokemon. Good to know I was right.

Personally I don't think it makes too much of a difference. There isn't much to discuss really.
