URPG Budget Tournament 2017: Round One

Round One has officially started!
Your opponents have been rolled and matchups are posted here. Before you battle, your stats on your sign-up must be properly updated! Each round, including this one, will only last for one week. The rules for Round One are on the official tournament thread! Round One will officially end on August 23rd at 11:59 PM CST! If a battle is ongoing when this ends, it will be allowed to finish if half of the Pokemon are KO'd on one side at the minimum.

Along with these, payments have been slightly tweaked. The payments for this week's battles (which are 4v4) are as follows:
Winner - $3,000 | Loser - $1,500 | Referee - $2,500

Sou: (Mega) Lucario, Manectric, Shuckle, Delphox
Syn: Greninja, (Mega) Manectric, Kecleon, Ariados

It was a tough battle for Sou at first as Greninja was proving to be hard to face. It took most of Lucario, and all of Manectric to beat it. Shuckle forced out Mega Mantric on a Red Card and set up Sticky Web. Delphox set up a bunch while Manectric used Thunder Wave and tried setting up too. Unfortunately for Syn it stole a life orb from Kecleon via Magician, and this later let it OHKO Manectric via Future Sight. Sticky Web then paid off as Ariados was forced, and made even slower than a Paralyzed Delphox with Special Attack +1.

Syn: $1,500 + 10k Entrance Fee
Me: $2,500

Interesting battle since one was a Sun team and the other was a Rain team. Mikey got an early lead by just smashing through with Mega-Metagross, and he held on with a strong lead until a neat Charizard prediction play. But at that point Mega-Metagross just outsped and outdamaged everything Jacen had.

Fierce Deity (Dusclops, Gorebyss, Mega Medicham, Sableye) vs. Xali (Miltank, Sharpedo, Slowbro, Talonflame)

Xali got off to a great start, reading every move and forcing Sableye to Trick itself into Slowbro's Choice Scarf ((You've Tricked Yourself)). Sharpedo got a few good hits in too, but FD made some aggressive moves to pull it back his way, such as predicting Destiny Bond and using Dive with Gorebyss for a safe KO. Gorebyss was able to get Shell Smash boosts to Mega Medicham, which looked to be huge, but Gale Wings Talonflame caught FD off guard and KO'd with Brave Bird. It came down to a par roll on Gorebyss deciding things.

Xali gets $3,000 + advances.
Fierce Deity gets $1,500 + entrance fee.
I should get $2,500.

GrayMagic (Ninjask, Ditto, Doublade, Banette) vs. Ralin (Shuckle, Mr. Mime, Aerodactyl, Kangaskhan)

Ralin was actually doing really well this match. Shuckle held its own against Ninjask and Banette and was finally taken down by Night Shades and Knock Offs. A Sleeping Shuckle prevented Ninjask from Baton Passing sweeping stats and Gray actually opted to Final Gambit it vs Aerodactyl. In the end Kangskhan had to fend off Doublade and Ditto, which was an uphill battle and it was finally taken down by Ditto Power-Up Punching and Outraging.

Gray gets $3,000 + advances.
Ralin gets $1,500 + entrance fee.
I should get $2,500

 

You may not do this until your match has occurred and been logged in this thread (or equivalent on another forum). Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a log yet.

Nitro: Gallade (Mega), Greninja, Kecleon, Vanilluxe

Dash: Alakazam (Mega), Eelektross, Quagsire, Leavanny

Leavanny led against Greninja and put it to sleep to set Sticky Web and an Agility/Baton Pass to Eelektross.
Greninja managed to Haze, and Nitro brought Vanilluxe in with Scarfed Blizzard to take down Eelektross.
The first big play of the game came with Dash's Alakazam, using Magic Guard and Calm Mind to stall out Vanilluxe's Hail.
Nitro switched to Kecleon and handed Protean to a SP.A/SP.D+2 Mega Alakazam who correctly predicted Trick Room with Taunt.
Mega Alakazam obliterated Greninja with Dazzling Gleam, and Nitro proceeded to throw Mega Gallade as another sacrifice to the Protean Fairy god.
Thinking the battle lost, Nitro then found out Vanilluxe was still alive and began an uphill battle.
At this point Dash over-predicted and Taunted Kecleon, allowing its Protean Drain Punch to KO the then-Dark Alakazam and greatly even the sides.
The return of Vanilluxe's and Freeze Dry was key in removing Quagsire from the battle, and Leavanny's final attempt to take down Kecleon was 11% short before it got in a Fire Punch.

Dash: $1,500 + money returned

JulioRain (Aerodactyl, Whimsicott, Delphox, Sharpedo) vs. Weirlind120 (Lanturn, Hitmonlee, Cloyster, Altaria)

Weir maintained a lead from the start when he Icy Winded Aerodactyl with Lanturn. Then Hitmonlee Unburden Hitmonlee entered with berserk Gene and maintained the pressure on Julio til an ill-fated smack allowed Delphox to KO it. Undeterred Cloyster came in with Hydro Vortex to one shot the Phox and the final was decided by whether or not Mega Sharpedo's Ice Fang could FRZ or Flinch Mega-Altaria, it did neither and Weir won.

Weir gets $3,000 + advances.
Julio gets $1,500 + entrance fee.

Galvantula setup webs but got FRZ. Gyarados came in and got a Dragon Dance in. A forfeit was called after that.
