No, the opponent doesn't have to be in this for you to advance in steps. Example, if you fought TED and won, you would gain the spots but it wouldn't affect him at all since he never signed up.

Logs would be logged in your own ref logs, and then the ref or one of the battlers will post in the Log thread with a link. Payment for this is regular pay depending on the battle, so there's no special pay. That's why there won't be tournament wages, these will just be logged in your logs and then linked in the Log thread for this event.

I get that you want refs to link logs. That wasn't what the question/comment was about. Wouldn't refs posting links in the Log thread clutter it up? I guess unless every ref just had one post. Seems to me that it's just easier for the Battlers to link to the ref log instead.

If refs just edited their posts with new logs it would be hard for me and the supervisors to keep track of battles and their movement in the game.

Why do refs need to post in them at all if the battlers just link for steps they take? That way you're not rereading something that already happened. Kinda silly to have like 100+ replies just be links to logs when battlers can keep that all in one place to reduce clutter and be neater.

Except, if the thread is purely for posting links to logs, then it's not really that cluttered, and I can imagine it's a damn sight easier to update. If you know that the last battle updated to was "Person A vs Person B reffed by Person C", then you just need to update from the post after that until the end. Otherwise, you have to check logs for dates, check if you already put it in, etc...

It's like saying "refs should only have one post for posting logs in a tourney"

Do gym leaders get 3 steps for defending?

Aren't battlers supposed to keep logs too? That's what I'm saying. If you have the individual people's logs and then random posts here and there of refs posting links, it'll be cluttered. But if battlers don't have to keep logs, then it doesn't matter. If they don't post logs though, it's messier to keep track of and just more hassle. But seeing as how I'm not in charge of that, I guess you can do what you like. Just trying to make it easier for you.

That makes me think it's only one log per battle, and then the spreadsheet will be updated accordingly.

Guess I didn't see where it said a spreadsheet is going to be used. I still don't, but as long as it makes sense to the hosts, then all's well.

idk if this applies to any of my mons but:

[*]Trick: Challenging a Gym (Orange Islands excluded) and winning with a team that is weak to the type, you get double the steps. Example: Flying team in Electric-type Gym. Important to note that Pokemon that are dual-type and contain a type that resists the gym cancels out this trick, such as Gliscor in Electric-type Gym.

What about, say, Honchkrow in a fighting gym?

EDIT: NVM I'M AN IDIOT AND MISREAD IT

Good question. Yes, if a gym leader was challenged and if it was counted for this, they would move 3 steps for defending.

And WV, the point is for refs (or one of the battlers from said battle) linked to the log of the battle and put it INSIDE the Log thread for this event. In their post, they will put "[Name 1] beat [Name 2]" and have a link to the post in the log. Yes, there will be numerous posts in that thread but it would help us out more than having refs keep one post and constantly update them with logs.

FD, from when I was talking to you on AIM, it sounded like battlers were going to have to keep individual logs with all their progress as well, that's why I was confused as to why refs had to link a post if the battlers were already going to be doing it.

Achievements could be cashed in now, but make sure you keep track of which ones you won and what you cashed it in for.

Do contests count? And if not contests, at least B/W contests? Imo they should, seeing as they're basically battles with a tiny bit extra.

Yeah, wasn't thinking about them. As of now they don't, but once I find a use for them I'll make a post about it here.

What Chainy said, BW Contests are basically just a battle with some contest points added on. He stole my suggestion. You could maybe put it in on the same level as a normal battle seeing how they're practically the same?

I was gym battling White Knight for the game board (his gym) and I was winning (4-2) before he gave up his gym for another. In fairness, he applied for Mauville around a month ago, but do I get the points or what? The thread is in the forum battles section, I can't find it now because I'm in a rush.

    Re: URPG Game Board: Discussion

If the battle was started before this was created, or not stated to be for this Board Game before battle started, then it wouldn't count in the first place.

@WinterVines and @ChainReaction01, I'll add something about Contests in.
