This one is of Swinub, Snover and Snorunt observing a snow Poliwag whose eyes are pebbles.

Both were made with pencil and paper. Gimp was used for all of the smudging in both works. I'm not really sure whether I prefer the gimp or the original version as the gimp version seems more painterly. However, I did not have much control with regards to lighting and shadows when I used gimp. The following are the original versions. There might be weird dots and a dark streak in the middle of the works because of my scanner. img219.jpg img220.jpg

Also, please disregard the odd vertical streak of shading on the upper left of the work involving the Swinub etc. I'm not sure where the scanner got that from.

    SNOVER

    "Frosted Wonderland"

    Overall
This is a very cute picture that immediately reminded me of the Pokepark games. There are a lot of things going on in this picture which make it very interesting and also adorable.

    Dynamics
Okay, so you have Snover sliding down an icy mountaintop, looking like he's having a blast. That's so cute! That's also great because you have an actual story here behind your art. What's also great is your background! You introduced layers and layers of elements here to keep the audience captivated. You have your focal point, the Snover and the star of your picture. Then you have a distant Lapras--more than likely to help show how high up the mountain is that Snover is sliding down. Lapras has to be swimming in an icy lake, because I see faint water ripples, a shore to the snowy bank, and bits of ice floating on the water. I also see something making little footprints at the top that lead to a cluster of trees where it is most likely going to hide. The background also provides perspective and dimension to the picture, making the scene seem real and the picture much larger than the paper you drew it on. You nailed that bit excellently. The lines in this are sort of sketchy, but clear. I could easily see this cleaned up and turned into an excellent digital drawing. And Snover's pose is so cute. It certainly matches the cutesy title you gave this image.

    Colors/Shading
You used no color, but the shading in this is very good. I commend you on that. You have a consistent source of light and a few different levels of shading here, giving your picture some depth and realism. Though sketchy, the shading is done very well and I honestly don't have anything else to pick on besides a lack of color.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Snover's anatomy is on-point and done correctly. Good attention to the details there.

    Advice
    1. Give you picture some color! Colors make things stand out and come to life off the paper.
    2. Clean up you lines! Turn that pencil around and make those sketchy lines all pretty and neat and you have a much more appealing picture to look at.

    SCORE
I give you a 55/100 for this, and the only thing really holding you back is the lack of color! Good job, though. I loved this image and I wish it was cleaned up and polished a bit.

    "Curiosity"

    Overall
This image is cute, but honestly, I didn't like it as much as your first and I'll explain why as I go.

    Dynamics
Snover is again the focal point of this drawing due to his centered status in the image. My eye is drawn directly to him which is a strong point for this drawing. You could have driven that home by having the other Pokemon facing him, however. I also like that you did include the other 'baby' Pokemon here, all gathered for one reason or another. They're all so cute :3 I also like the dead Charlie Brown Christmas tree you've got going on in the background. That's pretty adorable, given that most of these Pokemon are associated with Ice and wintry things. I'm not sure if you meant to do this, but the smooth way you blended the shading of the Pokemons' and rocks' shadows makes it look as if they are standing on a frozen pond of some sort, skating. I don't think that's the case, but that's the illusion I get. I also notice the rest of your shading is sort of consistent, though I don't personally think it's nearly as good as your first drawing you did. The smudging makes it look sort of odd and washed out in a way, making it less like shading and more like some kind of funky texture. I'm also surprised that you didn't give the drawing as much perspective and dimension as the first. I can see that Snorunt is sort of closer to us than the others, but that's about it for 3-D effect here.

    Colors/Shading
Again, the shading is okay, but not as nice as the first drawing. I do like the consistency of the tree's shadow to its actual shape, though. That's certainly tough to pull off :p

    Pokemon Accuracy
Yep! Snover's accurate, as are all the other little Pokemon here.

    Advice
    1. More dimension! Give us a background with things that are far away as well as close to us and make the picture 'pop'.
    2. COLORSSSS
    3. Less smudgey weird shading.

    SCORE
I give this one a 50/100 because it lacked the elements of coolness the first piece did and because of the weird shading. But that's a passing score anyways because this is still a pretty good piece of art!

This means that Snover is caught! Have fun with the fat abominable snowman.

    SMOOCHUM

    "Narcissus"

    Overall
This is a cute idea and an adorable picture, though I wish you'd have used an original pose instead of the Sugimori official art.

    Dynamics
Adorable idea and 'story' to this piece. The lines are very clear and we know that Smoochum is checking himself out in the mirror. Good job on mirroring him, by the way! The pose is cute, but not original, seeing as it was from the Bulbapedia page about him. However, this is a good use of such a pose.

    Colors/Shading
No colors here, but the shading is pretty good. There's not a ton of it and I guess you decided to leave the background kind of blank, making the page seem a bit bland, but the shading that you did do is consistent with lighting and blends nicely with well-placed pencil strokes.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Smoochum is accurate according to its sprites and Sugimori art, but this is an image from the page itself.

    Advice
    1. Use your own poses! This is cute but I like your own art much better :D
    2. COLORSSS
    3. More shading in this one, though it is a Simple Poke.

    SCORE
I give you 40/100 for this since it's less original than some of your other pieces. It looks good though and it means that Smoochum is caught!

    WYNAUT

    "Why Not Party?"

    Overall
This is adorable. A dancing baby Pokemon is a cute baby Pokemon.

    Dynamics
There's not a ton of background here, but it's easy to see that Wynaut is boogying away to some unheard music from somewhere. Its pose seems pretty original and the lines are neat, and it makes me go 'awwww'! I love that you made it dance around and do something rather than just posing! I also noticed that the musical notes were technically accurate. I NOTICED.

    Colors/Shading
The shading is consistent and the slight differences in coloration are nice. They tell me what part of Wynaut is darker compared to other parts of him which is excellent.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Wynaut is totally accurate! Nice attention to detail, especially on the tail and feet. Those look like they're hard to research for this little 'mon.

    Advice
    1. COLORSSSS.
    2. Background please!

    SCORE
Oh you definitely get the 40/100 needed for this boogying cutie, meaning that Wynaut is caught!

    POLIWAG

    "Drift"

    Overall
Very cute (SO MUCH CUTE IN THIS GALLERY), and matches well with your title! However, it's another copied image. BE ORIGINAL, MAN.

    Dynamics
Very nice. I like the flowing water with debris to make it more clear that Poliwag is in flowing water in nature somewhere, where branches and leaves would fall in. It also matches his pose, though I have seen this pose in Sugimori's original artwork. The lines are nice and neat here, and the swirls on Poliwag's belly are evenly spaced even though concentric circles are pretty tough to do. I also like his little smile here.

    Colors/Shading
You shaded very well in this one and used your lines wisely, which I like very much. You differentiated color levels in Poliwag's belly swirl, his eyes, lips, and skin, which adds more interest to this picture.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Yup, that's a Poliwag all right.

    Advice
    1. Draw original poses!
    2. colorcolorcolorcolor

    SCORE
I give you a 45/100 for this one because of the differing colors and the cool water flow effect. That means that Poliwag is caught!

    CATERPIE

    "Surprise"

    Overall
    OMG SO ADORABLE.

    Dynamics
Okay, so you have Caterpie popping out of some grass to surprise something which is so cute. It's also reminiscent of what actually happens in the game when you come across this Pokemon, which is kind cool when you think about it. I like the grass that varies in length and type, as well as the fact that it's bent a bit to make room for Caterpie crawling through it. He's clear and so CUTE with those big buggy eyeballs and tilted head. I love that.

    Colors/Shading
The shading in this is kinda lacking--I feel like his head feelers should have been colored in a bit or shaded. I also miss the shading from the grass like you'd put in your second Snover pic with that tree.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Caterpie is totally on-point and perfectly accurate. I don't see anything wrong with detail and design.

    Advice
    1. COLORRRR
    2. More shading.

    SCORE
I'm gonna give this a 40/100 like the ones before it because it's equally as good as the rest. I love your art, keep it coming and try coloring stuff! This means that Caterpie is caught.

I acknowledge the lack of color. Regrettably, I couldn't find my color pencils. The pokemon going into the trees was a Snover :D

Okay lets get down to it
    Skitty - Simple
    Overall
This is a nice image and you have improved it some parts of the image, but worsened in other aspects.
    Dynamics
I like how you included a background with this one, the sky and the trees are very detailed in this, and look very professional. There really isnt any clear lines defining the horizon and there is a lack of connection between all of Skitty's parts and it looks unfinished.

    Colours
The background colours are very pretty. The colours of the grass are a little questionable but I can definitely tell its grass. I like the gradual shading in the sky and in the grass. There really isnt any shading on Skitty itself and that would have made it look less "artificial".

    Pokemon Accuracy
Skitty is fairly accurate. You are missing the purple of its ears though, and it looks like it is disconnected, like all the little parts are kind of floating there, with the fact you can see through the cracks between the head and the body and other parts. Next time try to fill in those gaps and you will be golden

    Conclusion
While you did put effort into changing it, it failed to hit the right notes. I'd have to give you a 35/40, which means Skitty is not caught. Just fill in those cracks and finish Skitty's colours and you may just get your very own Skitty.

    Azurill - Simple
    Overall
This is a really cute Pokemon you have drawn, but it lacks some overall polish.

    Dynamics
I like the party balloons and hats and etc. Azurill looks humongous compared to the balloons and party hats though. You should watch out for your sizing as Azurill is in fact only about 8 inches tall, or 20 cm tall. The background is fairly simple and could use a bit more detail, everything cant be floating in midair, give it some grounding.

    Colours/ Shading
There really isnt any colouring here so no points here. There is some shading on the ballons in the background and a teeny tiny bit on Azurill so I cant give you too much on that.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Azurill is drawn pretty accurately here. I just wish that you had given the tail a little more than 1 line just to distinguish it from it being an outline of something else. Colour could have solved that confusion up a bit too.

    Score
In the end, while you got Azurill pretty much right and gave some detail in the background I am going to have to give you a 30/40. This means Azurill is not caught.

    Mareep - Simple
    Overall
This is a nice drawing with a cool story in it.

    Dynamics
I like how you included the Rain Castform in the background. It looks cute and funny. There is very little detail elsewhere in the background. A simple sketchy line marks the horizon, the clouds are fairly simple, but are shaded nicely. There is very simple variated raindrops and simple grass. There could be a bit more detail, just to add to the overall aethstetic of the image.

    Colours / Shading
There really isn't any colours here, so no points for you here. There is very limited shading underneath Mareep and in the clouds.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Mareep is pretty much accurate and I couldn't give many complaints here. I would have liked to have seen the tail in the back, but thats just a personal preference.

    Score
Overall on this image you made everything really simple, with no colours but got everything you needed accurate. I'll give you a 40 on this for the effort you put in and the accuracy of everything, even the Castform in the background! You got a 40 but just by the skin of your teeth. Mareep caught.

    Magikarp - Easiest
    Overall
I like this image its really interesting and portrays a story.

    Dynamics
You put some details into the sand at the bottom of the lake/river/anywhere where there is water. I like the fishing hook and the fish in the background. I would have liked more details, but it is an easy Pokemon so you don't get hit so hard here.

    Colours/ Shading
There is no colour here :sad face: no points for you. There is shading on Magikarp!!! You did a good job on shading it and you gave a certain direction where the light was coming from. Try colouring next time though!

    Pokemon Accuracy
Magikarp is accurate! Good job here!

    Score
The fact that you shaded definitely helped, although there is little detail in the background it works. You get a 35/25! Magikarp is caught!!! Enjoy your little fishy.

    There post 1 done!!!

    @Sky Lark;
    Skitty - Simple- Re-grade
    Overall
Much better job on this one, it looks more finished.

    Dynamics
The lines on Skitty make it considerably better. The only minor complait would be the colour of the lines but thats just small. The flower looks a bit better as well.

    Colours/Shading
The shading looks a tonne better now that you've added highlights! The colours and having the ears coloured make this look much MUCH better. The grass looks better this colour and less out of place.

    Pokemon Accuracy
No complaints here at all anymore!

    Score
Okay I was hard on you the first time, but I really needed to push you to show you what you were capable of. I'lll give you a clear 50 on this one, It looks really nice. You get your Skitty finally!!!

    Azurill - Simple - Re-grade
    Overall
This is a nice improvement. The colours have improved the look of it a lot!

    Dynamics
Every detail in the background has improved a lot. I like the concept of it being a stamp. I'd just watch out next time that your black circles are spaced out evenly and dont look awkwardly placed.

    Colours/Shading
The colours that you have added look 100% better and are all correct!. They give off a nice, bright party vibe, which is perfect. They also helped me distinguish what is part of what! There is still the same shading, but I can live with that.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Nothing to complain about here, just remember sizing next time. Azurill isnt THAT big.

    Score
I really like this piece and you have improved on the old one quite a bit, so you get a 45! Enjoy your little Azurill!!!
    Wurmple - Easiest
    Overall
This is a good drawing with nice autumn colours.

    Dynamics
While there really isn't much you can tell that it is sunset ad there is the ground and some leaves flying in the wind in the background. There is some grass on the ground but overall there isn't many details. This is simplistic, but enough for this.

    Colours/ Shading
You've used a colour scheme that uses warm tones that go with Wurmple very well. The colours all are reminiscent of autumn. I would have liked to have seen the ground a different colour from the sky, or is the ground is covered in leaves, to give them some kind of outline, or even just created a horizon line.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Wurmple is pretty accurate, the only thing missing is the spikes on its side. Other than that perfect.

    Score
It's a nice drawing and enough for you to get a 25, meaning you have caught your Wurmple! have fun with it!

    Weedle - Easiest
    Overall
This is a really cute drawing, even with a Weedle and I like it.

    Dynamics
I really like how you made a tree, with grass covering parts of it. This shows some detail and that it was more than sticking Weedle on a semi-plain background. I love that you finally defined a horizon in it and used the colours of the forest to colour the distant background. I would have liked it to see at least 1 more tree in the background, considering it is a forest, but thats just me nitpicking.

    Colouring/Shading
I like the colours you used in this, all were realistic and worked together nicely. You shaded on your tree and your Weedle, which is very nice to see. The shading was also well done. Next time though I'd like to see it coming from one direction, while now it looks like it was just kind of shaded in different directions. The tree is getting light hit on it from the right, but Weedle is getting hit from light from above.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Everything on Weedle itself is correct, full points here.

    Score
I like this and it has shown improvement from your earlier works. I'll give this a 35, meaning that you earned your very own Weedle!

I tried making Breloom pop out by having its texture highly contrast the texture of everything else. If you're wondering, the yellow on the ground are patches of sunlight streaming through the canopy.

    Burmy 1
    Overall
I really like how you've done this image. Its original and well thought out.

    Dynamics
I really enjoy how you've made the clouds very detailed and look very nice. The bushes look nice with the leaves and the addition of the lines for a slight breeze. It all adds to a nice setting and story that you have presented. The lines look clean and the entire image is interesting.

    Colours/ Shading
The colours on this are very nice and pleasant. I like the shading you have done on the bushes, the ground and the sky. It's to bad you didn't include the shadow for Burmy itself. I only wish that you could have evened out the colours of Burmy like the rest of the image, but it is fine the way it is

    Pokemon Accuracy
This is how I imagine Burmy without a cloak/ gathering a new one, so full points here.

    Score
I'll give you a solid 35 on this which means that you get your very own Burmy!
    Diglett
    Overall
This is a cute image with lots of little things that are nice. I think you could really benefit from expanding your works to a larger size, as they are very small and its hard to fit detail into little images.

    Dynamics
I like the drawn trees and the mud you have added to the background but overall this is very simple and small. Think the Diglett would look better if you made the ground that had risen around the circumference of Diglett more detailed and less circular, but thats me being picky. Other than that there really isnt a tonne of detail.

    Colour/Shading
The colours look fine here, the mud, the grass and trees all look good. The shading is there but its coming from all different directions. You need to think of the light coming from one singular point off page and use that as a direction to shade the image because the shadow for Diglett is on its back, but the tree beside it, the shadow is going forwards, in the complete opposite direction. Keep your eye out for that.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Diglett looks fine, there really isnt much to comment on here.

    Score
Alright I decided to give you a 40 on this one, but you passed by the skin of your teeth.Enjoy your Diglett and keep working and improving!!

The shadow behind Diglett is actually coming from the tree behind it, and Diglett's shadow is going to the viewer (albeit barely visible) ^^; Wasn't sure whether Diglett should've have been totally immersed in the tree's shadow or whether only the top of Diglett would've been darkened, though.

The entire Diglett would have been darkened as there would have been no light hitting its face. Same note to the tree.

    Oddish 1 - Garden Sprout
    Overall
This is a cute image that tells a cute story.

    Dynamics
I like the varied lines of the furrows in the ground for the carrots. It looks realistic and with the leaves of the carrot sticking above the ground. there really isnt much detail in this though. ITwould have been better if you had given a larger picture with more details and more items/more detail in the background.

    Colour/Shading
I like the colours you've used, there really isnt much to complain about that. The shading you've done is well done. The shadow behind oddish and the leaves are nicely done. The only thing I would have liked you to do is to have shadows and highlights on the furrows, just to make it more realistic

    Pokemon Accuracy
Not much to complain about here, Oddish looks like an Oddish.

    Score
In the end I'll have to give you only a 40 on this one. This means you get 1 odd-ish Oddish!

    Oddish 2 -Moonlight Stroll
    Overall
This is a nice drawing that has a ot of detail in the grass.

    Dynamics
I like the way you've drawn the grass and the stars. The grass is very detailed and the stars are in unusual but very nice shape. I would have liked if you had drawn in more stars, just to add more little details into the image.

    Colours/Shading
The colours look nice. The only issue I have with the colours is the sky is a lot lighter than it should be for a "midnight stroll". There is nice shading on Oddish and the grass behind Oddish. The sky, again though, is very light and should be a dark blue/black.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Oddish looks fine, little lopsided to the left, but fine. Even the number of leaves are correct.

    Score
I think this is a nice drawing and there is enough detail in it to earn a 45, and your 2nd Oddish!!!

    Stroll in the Springtime:

Really cute. Shinx looks accurate, and I like the shading. Keep in mind that if you shade part of your picture, you tend to need to shade all of it. Shading creates a lightsource. Because of the depth you gave to Shinx's belly and legs, we can assume light is coming from the upper left. But, by only shading one area, the rest of the picture loses that level of detail. The grass is all one dimension, and so is most of the little tiger-kitty's face. Give the rest of him some shadow, and add shades to darker places of grass and you'd have super consistent lighting.

Another thing to keep in mind is perspectives. The farther way something is, the smaller it should appear. Especially when similar or identical objects are comparable. In this case, those patches of grass should gradually decrease in size the farther away from the foreground they get. And, the road should gradually get thinner the farther it stretches away from Shinx here.

    As example:

While a road is constructed straight and parallel, viewpoints and distance will make it appear otherwise. Just by forcing these lines to travel towards each other, we have conveyed distance. Playing with perspectives can be pretty fun. People do a lot of crazy things to trick your mind into thinking you are looking at something completely different.

Anyways, this is just dandy for the little creature. Very adorable looking, and great coloring. Nice job.

    Score: 45 - Shinx captured.

    Placid Stream:

This is wonderful. :O Like, really really good. The anatomy is fabulous and the shading is just about perfect. I love the fact that you used soft coloring to give lighter effects as well as the typical dark shading. Even the subtle tilt of his head is awesome, because it makes the viewpoint unconventional. Really cool, Lark.

Only thing I can really think to recommend is more depth to the water in the background. Like, fading it into darkness, or creating distance with more shrubbery. But honestly, I like it just the way it is. Awesome.

YEAH THIS IS REALLY SHORT, BUT I'M NOT GONNA RAMBLE ABOUT DUMB STUFF THIS PICTURE DOESN'T EVEN NEED. IT'S COOL.

    Score: 50 - Wooper captured.

    Budew:

This is pretty nice. Though, I'll have to say I'm not a huge fan of mixing digital and traditional art. It makes the quality difference between the two painstakingly obvious. The background is neat, and I like the fact that it fades into a foggy effect. The color blending is also pretty cool. I prefer when artists draw their own backgrounds rather than using set brushes, though. The tree images and grass blades are almost too perfect, and it takes a lot of character and personality out of your image. That, and, it sticks out like a sore thumb when compared with Budew and his pillow. The texture patching of using crayons or colored pencils would need to be blended out to successfully convert it to digital.

Budew himself is pretty cute. Nice shading and colors, just very inconsistent with your background. xD I'd suggest sticking with either one method or the other. The two don't really mix well unless you significantly blend the styles. Kind of like what you had done with your Skitty image. Which, by the way, should have passed on its original attempt. The style of Skitty was clearly an artistic choice, and there is nothing wrong with that. Even though us curators are paid to grade and score these pictures, it doesn't mean we are always right. Heck, I feel like I don't even know what I am talking about half the time. xD As I told Morru, don't take my criticism too seriously (or anyone else's). Art is art. It's in the eye of the beholder and all that jazz. You are the artist; your decisions are what makes it beautiful, not ours.

    And yeah.

    Score: 40 - Budew captured.

    Capture the magic!:

These guys really love their pillows! Another digital/pencil drawn crossover, eh? this one works a little better for me than the last one. But the quality difference between the two styles is still a little awkward. The glow-y balls are pretty cool.

Pichu's expression is also awesome. XD I love how his body kind of smushes into the beanbag thing and his tummy puffs out. Really adorable appeal. STOP DOING THIS TO ME. I CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH CUTENESS.

There's a significant lack of shading in the little creature, though. His coloring is very dark and flat. And considering those glow balls are adding to an already existent lightsource, I feel like much more brightness and shadow should be involved. There would also, theoretically, be shadows beneath the beanbag as well. Still very well done, regardless. And an obvious capture.

    Score: 45 - Pichu captured.

    Guardian of the Forest:

I like it. It's clear you put a lot of thought behind this, and I think it turned out rather well. lots of colors.

    A couple things:

Shadow. If everything is hidden in the forest here and beams of light are only bleeding thorough the canopies, there would be a lot more of it. You kept this in mind to some extent, but the amounts of shades and shadow should be much more massive I feel. For instance, the tree trunks should be incredibly dark towards their bases, and gradually lighten as the trunk goes up. The way they are currently colored is a smidge confusing, because each trunk is completely different. It looks like you attempted to have them darker as a whole to convey depth, which is good and very mindful, but they are still left looking pretty incomplete. The bushes would be much more emerged in shadow as well.

Also, sorry if I sound really harsh, I don't mean to be! Just want to point out obvious things I see. This is also for a Medium Pokemon, so I have to be a bit harsher on it.

Changing Breloom's texture definitely made him pop. However, I think he would pop much more if he was colored and shaded in more of a contrast as well. Such as lightening and darkening the shades so there was more variation than just the two shades you have. By this I mean, the shadows on Breloom are one shade. there is his base color, and his shadow color. I tend to use 5 or 6 different levels of a particular shade to really send the picture into the third dimension. This creates and gives me a lot of light to work with. Just a suggestion, though.

Overall, I think this is great and well-drawn. Enough to pass, I think. Good job and great effort.

Score: 50 - verdict in second image scoring.

    Territorial:

:OOOOO This is so awesome. It looks amazing. I absolutely LOVE the splashing water effects you've done with this. All of the coloring and shading you've got here looks perfect. Perhaps a bit more shadow under Breloom's cap, and a bit more light on the rock he's standing on... but honestly, it looks great the way it is. Very impressive.

Only thing I feel looks a tad awkward is that the waterfall seems to be missing its other side. XD I'd have assumed it was just angling around a corner, but the rush of water is facing us and comes to an abrupt stop at its edge. STILL LOOKS AWESOME, BUT JUST SAYIN'.

Proportionate, accurate, creative, and lots of obvious effort.

I don't really have much to say about this other than a big wad of compliments, so here! TAKE THIS. *chucks Pokemon at you*

    Zubat
    Overall
This is a cool image, but looks a bit choppy in your mixing of the two styles.

    Dynamics.
I really like the background of this image. The stars and the Aurora Borealis,(Or Aurora Australis) are very nice looking and interesting. I like how many of the lines of the sky point towards Zubat, giving the effect of leading lines. I think Zubat looks a little too pasted onto this background

    Colour/Shading
I really like the colours of the sky and the Auroras in the sky, but I just wish that the colours matched with Zubat, as it seems a bit disjointed colour wise, but that may have more to do with the shading of it. The light source/direction of light on Zubat is completely different from what the background makes it look. If it were matching, the light would come from above, rather than what it looks like the light is coming from the right/bottom-right on Zubat.

    Pokémon Accuracy
Zubat looks fairly like it should, except for the wings are a little messed up sizing wise. I'm sure you can see that without me really criticizing you for it.

    Score
I think, although you have made it a little dis-jointed looking, it is passable. You get a 40, and a new friend, enjoy!

    Dynamics
There really isnt much for me to curate. The musical notes look correct and the lines of Burmy look right. I really would love to have seen more done with this, even having Burmy doing something would be nice.

    Colour/Shading
I'm not sure about the colour of the grass(?) in the background. it just seems to be too bright yellow. the colours on Burmy look fine though. The shading isnt too much, but its nice.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Burmy looks accurate enough, no complaints here.

    Score
Well on this one there really isnt much to talk about or even get points on, so you get a 30, so you do capture this Burmy. But remember, I'd like to see you do more next time!
    By the Beach
    Overall
This is a much better piece than the last one, in the sense of actual detail.

    Dynamics
The way you've done the background is very nice, and I like the clouds and the details in the sand. The waves are well drawn in too. I cant really complain about the background detail wise, more so colour wise.

    Colour/Shading
I really wish the sky and the sea were different colours, just to make them more separate from each other. I also wish the clouds were a different colour than the sky as well, just because clouds are usually white/grey/dark grey, never really blue.

    Pokemon Accuracy
I'd say this looks fine for Burmy, there really isnt much to comment on other than that it looks good.

    Score
This earns a 35 from me on this. Next time make some changes so it all doesnt blend in so much. Enjoy your 3rd Burmy!
    Protect
    Overview
This is simple and easy to see what you were trying to accomplish with this.

    Dynamics
I see that you were trying to create a visual of Burmy using protect and it looks alright. I would really liked to have see something in the background, other than Burmy and it using protect.

    Colour/Shading
The colours look good and it looks cool, with the colours of a bubble reflection and all that jazz. There is some shading, but its not very obvious or well put to use. I would have lived more shadows where there is ridges/leaves in the cloak of Burmy.

    Pokemon Accuracy
Everything looks good on Burmy, no problems really here

    Score:
I think this is enough, but I really would have loved to have seen more in this, just because it is lacking in interesting details. I will give you a 30 on this one which means you've completed your Burmy collection! have fun!

    Snapshot by the River
I had much trouble with shadows and highlights on this one. To whoever's curating, I'd appreciate red lines for those. No idea where they should go. Also, I'm undecided as to whether I'd prefer if I cropped the work so the final output's a square or closer to one. The water and grass were done based on a tutorial, and I'm pretty happy with what I got. Vulpix seems to stick out like a sore thumb against the background though. I also don't know how to rectify that.

    Luna
This one was fun to do, but Vulpix seemed somewhat too cartoony for the background. Art theory-wise, the "weight" of the moon and the larger amount of grass work to balance the size of Vulpix. I suppose the vastly different color scheme made Vulpix pop out. I've read about using background colors and incorporating them into the highlights and shadows in order to unify the piece more, but I had trouble as to where/how I would add blue touches to Vulpix's highlights/shadows. Advice on that would be greatly appreciated.

    Nidoran
First off, wanna say that this is probably the first time that shadow art has been submitted. Its definitely an interesting concept.

    Pokemon
While the outline is very nice, there are a lot of missing details. With something like this, would have been really cool to see how you could have done the internal spots and such. Also, colored lense/tissue paper might have given it a different colorful look. As with a lot of pokemon, a different pose from the standardized artwork would have been nice to see.

    Environment
In this case, it has a very minimalist environment. Really, didn't expect much for this category anyway. Although similar to the details, might have been able to do something for a background. Lighting. Its from behind. Totally expected in this case though! So its perfectly fine, and definitely creates something different from the norm.

    Score
    20/100

Nidoran is not caught. But do not despair! I think you could really do some interesting things with this if you added more detail.

    Paras
    Pokemon
This is a definite improvement from Nidoran. Lots of nice stylistic details in the middle, you can clearly see that it is meant to be a parasect. One part that threw me off a bit was the claw-shapes on the side of the mushroom shell, didn't look like they were supposed to be part of the pokemon, or it was hiding behind some leaves. And for the second one, you actually gave the pokemon some color, so thats a definite improvement.

    Environment
Again, would have loved to see some amount of scenery around this. If the aforementioned tear drops are in fact leaves, then that was a step in the right direction.

    Score
    35/100

Its a lot closer on this one, because of the detail and attempt at a paras-like color. But adding an environment would totally push it over the top.

    @Sky Lark

    Vulpix 1
    Color/Form
In terms of color, you used the color of the pokemon and the environment to create a balanced image: The red, green and blue uses all of the three basic colors effectively. The river creates a nice bisecting line equally divinding the image. The only downside would be that vulpix creates a very small imbalance between the two corners.

    Pokemon
Vulpix is in a very cute pose, and its not the standard generic artwork. The colors and shading are all fairly decent. One tiny part that stands out against the rest of the image is the slight roughness of the lines defining Vulpix itself. However, you masked this by using lines of color that blended into the colors and managed to mitigate the imperfections.

    Environment
Your environment for Vulpix is simple, yet it manages to show off the pokemon without being too distracting. The grass is nice and varied, and Vulpix is shown to be interacting with it by the grass hiding the pokemon's feet. The lighting is only seen well on

The river is a nice touch to the image, and the flowing water is well done, however one thing that stands out is the lack of a major transition from the grass to the water. If the stream was always there, there would be some sort of bank, or a lack of grass near the water, or sand, rocks, something to note that the water stopped grass from growing. It currently looks like a heavy rain occurred upstream and created a flood instead of the gently flowing stream I think you were going for.

    Improvements
Better transition between water & land
    Cleaner lines on pokemon

    Score
    50/100

    Vulpix 2

    Form
The image is very balanced again, with the primary colors giving fair balance, and the added white adding a light washed effect to certain areas accentuating the pokemon. The image is balanced, the pokemon and the moon at opposite corners canceling each other out successfully.

    Pokemon
The shading and colors on Vulpix look good, and the highlights match the scene in terms of light. The lines are rough again, but using the matched colors again helped to minimize this. Also, try using softer brushes or blend areas around the ear so that the individual pixels cannot be seen. As you noted in your post, you were unsure how to better tie Vulpix into the lighting. One suggestion would be to give the entire pokemon a light bluish tint, as the red would be very minimal to nonexistent with the nighttime lighting.

    Environment
I like the environment you created in this image. Fog rolling through the grass gives a cool spooky evening feel. The star field isn't that bad, and serves as a nice contrast to better show the pokemon and moon. The grass, fog, and pokemon all interact well, and the lighting from the moon interacts good.

    Improvements
Change color of pokemon when lighting dictates such

    Score
    50/100

    Verdict:
