But I couldn't break new ground hard enough. R.I.P. PE2K URPG. Anyways, I'm moving all of my old artwork over here for the time being in case if it gets ba-leeted from PE2K.

    Pokemon: Poliwag
    Rank: Simple
Creation time: Approx 1 hour. Style is meant to be minimalist, colorful, and simple (like something you might see on a T-shirt design.) Partly inspired by classic Mickey Mouse.

@Gun6; I don't see any proof of work on your Poliwag.

@Gun6; @Dakhem Uaid; Dak, you have to tell the person that you need a signature or a sketch as proof of work as a gentle reminder instead of simply flat-out refusing for no proof. We're here to help artists improve on their work; they will not know what they should do unless you tell them.

Gun, a simple quick signature or a preliminary sketch will provide ample proof of this drawing. Please do so when you can.

One last thing for Dakhem; you provided a curation for this drawing even though there was no proof of work. Do not discriminate or play favorites with art; if you do not curate one piece of art for the reason of no proof, then you do not curate any if there isn't any proof.

Is this any good for proof? I opened up the Paint.NET file and dinkled around with the layers and signed it.

    First Impressions:

Wow. Okay. This piece of art is really great. I love the minimalist style, it gives the art such a cute feeling. I think the Mickey Mouse style is the feet? I didn't really see that inspiration, but whatever gets you to make this.

    Dynamics

Okay so first off I love the feeling of this piece with the swirls and the blank face on Poliwag's face. Though it's kind of flat, the minimalist style sort of allows that to work. The bubbles are well done and work well. Maybe a little bit more variation in the swirls would be nice , but it isn't really noticeable unless you stare at it. Honestly, there isn't much for me to say, there is enough action going on that I don't need much else, especially for a Simple pokemon.

    Colors/Shading

The colors on this are really great. I love the spectrum and the way they really highlight Poliwag's colors. I would've actually liked to see more of the red and yellows than the purple and greens because I think it accentuates Poliwag a bit better, but I see that you were going for a rainbow thing so. Poliwag is colored perfectly, no complaints there. The shading isn't really an issue due to the nature of the piece. I would've maybe done the shadow a different color because as is sorta looks out of place (maybe just a darker color than the background or something).

    Pokemon Accuracy

Definitely accurate. I like the feet, they're very cute. I really like Poliwag's face too, it looks blank, but cute. nicely done :)

    Overall

Definitely better than needed for a simple pokemon. I'm going to give this a 55/100 because of the simplicity of the image, but that's more than enoughfor you to catch Poliwag! Congrats !!

    @Gun6

    For Ekans

    Form/Color
Clean, simple, effective image. Something not seen a lot in URPG images is depth of field, and I think you’ve managed to use it rather well to focus the attention on the pokemon. While it might be a little more powerful than it has to be, its the fact that you used it and made it work. I feel like the image might be a little heavy on the right side, as the majority of Ekans and the path used to break up the greenery is all over there, creating dissymmetry in regards to the balance of elements.

One minor issue that I always tend to see is that once in awhile edges become somewhat jagged around areas of high color contrast or very sharp lines. Its not a major deal, just something I always nitpick for.

    Pokemon
Ekans is very accurate, and the colors are well done. I like a lot of the shading you did on this, it adds a lot of detail and subtle shapes to enhance the shape and flow of the pokemon's body. Since its a snake, flow is pretty darn important, so I like it. Colors are quite accurate, so nothing much else to say on the pokemon itself.

    Environment
Shading on this image is very well done as I stated earlier, adding a lot of form and depth to the pokemon and the bushes to a lesser extent. The sunset colors and light source direction assist in giving the viewer a good sense of time, which assists in the storytelling. But I think thats about it for story, Ekans is just going down a path. Which for this image it works, the pokemon is at peace, enjoying his evening stroll.

    Improvements
    1. I think more balance of the image is the one thing I’d say really needs any kind of improvement, just make sure to give the scene equal amount of detail to create equal amounts of stuff for the eye to see on either side.

    2. Jaggedness of lines sometimes - its not a major component at all, but its a lot easier to have it happen on the lineless images where the transitions are more noticeable.

    Score
I like this image. F0r a simple ranked pokemon, I’d say you nailed it.

    50/100

    Ekans is yours.

    @Gun6

    For Mankey

    Form/Color
Very interesting color contrasts you used in this image. The dark green and greys contrast nicely with the tan and purple you utilized to color and shade mankey, it brings the pokemon into focus and makes it the centerpiece of the image. Mankey itself is also centered, enhancing the effect of this. Balance of the image is even, what with the limited number of things going on, so one side doesn’t necessarily feel more crowded.

    Pokemon
Mankey, the wonderful bowling ball monkey. Very accurate, colors are spot on. There’s a lot of stuff that you did good on the pokemon. The ruffled fur around the edges of the mon are an extremely nice touch and give him a sense of realism and detail. It also ties in with the eyes, giving him a ruffled fur look that could enhance the mildly angry look he has. The eyes themselves are shaded quite nicely, and I can see the different colors added to the pupils, which again adds that detail and realism it needs. Shading, while you could have used a variety of colors instead of just the violet, is very nice and blended subtly to create the best effect possible.

    Environment
You’ve added a very subtle background to the image. At first I wasn’t impressed by the image because of it, but after looking at it more closely, I noticed more to it. The gradient gives the feeling of a very dense jungle, which Mankey would probably love to live in. THe vines in the background are hard to see at times, but it adds a very good sense of depth the image and accentuates how dense and dark these lower hanging vines are. Apart from that, shading is fine. Would have liked to see a little more done here, but as it is you still pulled it off.

    Improvements
    1. Background detail wouldn’t hurt for higher-ranked images, but for this the way you presented it worked out.

    2. Varying the color of your shading can help to differentiate between colors and textures.

    Score
    45/100 - Mankey is caught

    Sir Skit
    Color/Form
First off, puns are awesome. Pokemon based puns in artwork? Even better.

First off, use of colors that contrast is good, the tan allowing Surskit to stick out more and thus pop out. The colors are also indicative of a cool, dry location, which the image fits perfectly as well. For weight/balance, its a rather empty image overall. All the focus is being places on the pokemon, since there's little else for the eye to grab on to. Which can be good, and doesn’t necessarily hurt this image, but a few more details or small additions to break up say the darkness, like shadowy forms or pillars, etc could be good.

One little thing that I noticed when viewing up close is that pixels can be seen in certain spots, like an attempt was made to smooth out but it didn’t quite work. Especially noticeable around the hat strap, just be wary of that.

    Pokemon
Surskit is just as it’s ranking states, simple. Everything looks correct for the most part. Shape is good, since its immediately recognizable as the pokemon. The pith helmet is a nice way to still show the Yellow spot on top of the head while being original. Color is good, shading works for the most part, although I’m having problems nailing down the lights location (see environment section). If I did have to find something wrong with the pokemon itself, I would nitpick that the legs could be a bit longer.

    Environment
It a very basic environment, but quite fitting for the pun as I can assume you intended. The way the stone lines fade in and out on the floor are good, gives the appearance of dirt and sand covering them. For the walls, I would have possibly just made the creases lighter, as right now it seems odd that the blocks would be fused into one. More textures on the clocks would have been a nice touch too.

For lighting, I think overall its good, you added a few levels of shading and shadows, most notably the black abyss directly straight ahead. One thing that seems just a hair off is the fact that Surskit’s shadows are straight down, when the light seems to be coming more from where the viewer would be standing. Its a small detail, but one that should always be considered when shading an image like this.

    Improvements
    1. Shading can always be improved based on the intended direction of light, especially shadows being cast straight down as opposed to at an angle.

    2. Possibly adding more detail into the scene to add more for the viewer to see.

    Score
    50/100

it works, and you did work. Have a Surskit as a reward.

    Weedle

    Form/Color
A very clean image, with a definite focus on the pokemon. The lack of other elements makes it a bit sparse, so consider adding in more detail to add more points of interest. The greens contrast nicely with Weedle, setting all its different parts against the color was both a good choice artistically and fits where one would expect to see a weedle. The one element that I’m not a fan of are the two circles with the heart and exclamation point. THey drag attention away from the focus, and I personally don’t understand what they’re in the image for unless its someone’s reaction to seeing Weedle.

    Pokemon
Your very cartoony weedle looks like he had a little bit too much to eat. While maybe just the slightest bit pudgy, he looks fine as far as general shape and color go. My only complaint would be the lack of shading, even though it is a cartoon-based image. Shading would have helped define the individual body segments better, as right now its almost worm-like instead of its spherical self.

    Environment
Your bushes/trees are rather interesting. The polka dots randomly placed on them do give a sense of character, and the texture isn’t the worst thing Ive ever seen for a tree. Just try to make the texture not flow so nicely from one tree to the next; the one behind has the same textures meeting up at the color separation line. Not much shading, again following the cartoony. Not necessarily good or bad, but some shading is always preferential.

    Improvements
    1. Even cartoon based images can have some detailed shading.

    2. Have more reason for adding something. Those two emoticon/symbols don’t really add much to the overall scene.

    Score
    25/100

The cartoony aspect doesn’t really hurt it. Its a cute image with just enough character to pass.

    Scatterbug
    Form/Color
The subtle colors utilized fit the image’s tone nicely. And the one thing I’ve noticed in previous images, the occasional jagged lines, has been fixed. THe pokemon is prominently placed and balance of elements seems to be perfect for the elements that are in the scene.

    Pokemon
Scatterbug is really well drawn. As far as I can tell the color and shape are spot on, which is very good considering that you did this before all the art was out. The thing I do like most though is the evil face that looks like the viewer just woke him up after a nap, it's a perfect expression for the scene.
    Environment
This image was really well made, both with the interesting tree as well as the lighting. Not using green for the leaves was an interesting choice, I like it because it makes the image different than most and still can be immediately recognized as a tree.

THe lighting in this scene is also good, the small patches lighting only the back of scatterbug a good choice. Theres really not much I could offer for improvement beyond possibly adding more to the scene.
    Improvements
I don’t really have much, its a good image.

    Score
    40/100

I could pass this image for simple if needed, its good. Scatterbug obtained. Sorry the curation is short, but there isn’t much to critique, its a clean image perfect for an easiest.
