Here you can find the URPG’s Elite 4, Gym Leaders, and more. If you’re interested in applying for an open gym, you may do so in the Apply For or Update a Gym thread.
Gym Leaders in the URPG award a badge, TM, and extra money for defeating them. They are only allowed to use Pokemon in their lineup, found in this thread, although they may choose to edit their lineup, with the approval of his/her League Organizer. Gym Leaders are able to set the rules of their gym battles, as long as the rule is a legal rule. However, the battle must be 3 VS 3 minimum. If the battle mode involves sending Pokemon and moves in the chat/thread instead of privately, the leader can decide who sends his/her Pokemon first. Some leaders have specific rules they must use. Those gyms and their rules will be specified.
The Novice League does not allow Rentals or permanent weather, and has accessibility restricted to newer players. Please see the Apply For or Update a Gym thread for more details on rules, and below for an explanation of the Novice League.
It is the League Organizer’s responsibility to be in charge of their league and making sure their Gym Leaders are active.
A trainer may challenge a Gym Leader for his/her Gym Leader position if the trainer believes he/she can better defend the gym. However, the challenge must be approved by the League Organizer, who will decide the specifics of the challenge.
The Road to becoming The URPG Champion
In order to become the URPG Champion, a challenger must defeat the Elite Four and then the current URPG Champion. A challenger can challenge the Elite Four members in any order they wish. If a challenger is also an Elite Four member, he/she must defeat the Elite Four Reserve in place of defeating his/her own spot. If a challenger loses against an Elite Four Member, he/she keeps whatever progress he/she has made against other Elite Four, and may challenge the same Elite Four Member again only after waiting at least 1 full week. If a challenger loses against the URPG Champion in a champion battle, he/she must defeat all of the Elite Four Members again in order to challenge the Champion again. When a new challenger becomes Champion (has never been champion before), he/she chooses any legendary Pokemon that he/she keeps permanently. A challenger that becomes the Champion also receives a non-legendary Pokemon of his/her choice to keep permanently (can be repeated).
In order to be eligible to challenge the Elite Four, you must have at least 14 Advanced League badges. Any badges earned in the old system (pre-Novice League) count for this requirement.

The Novice League
The Novice League is a league for beginners getting into the Battling Section. Any player who joined the URPG on or after January 1st, 2018, or any player who has less than 6 badges from any of the old systems, is eligible to challenge the Novice League and earn rewards. All URPG players are eligible to be Novice Gym Leaders, except for current and past Elite Four members, current and past URPG Champions, and players currently eligible to challenge the Elite Four. If a Novice Gym Leader meets any of the above criteria, they will be asked to step down from that gym or move up to the Advanced League, at the discretion of the Senior Refs.
Players must earn at least 6 Novice Badges before challenging the Advanced League, unless they had 6 badges under the old system; those who had 5 or less must earn at least 6 Novice League badges to challenge the Advanced League (However, if one of your old badges correlates to a Leader+Type combo in the NL, it may be used for NL purposes if you qualify for NL rewards). Anyone who obtains 8 Advanced League gym badges, including badges earned under the old systems, will no longer be able to complete the Novice League. Defeating a Novice Gym will reward a TM in addition to a badge. Novice League will have Legend Clause ON by default.
Players must earn all eight Novice Badges in order to obtain the Novice League package, which will entitle a player to:
Once this package has been earned, that player may not challenge any other Novice League gyms. Payments for Novice Gym battles will follow the same structure as current Gym battles.
