THE STORM KUA: roar of the divine

    capital city: Yongkai City
    current shi: Emperor Samori

A fledgling dragon has soft teeth, but if you let one grow large enough, it becomes a force of nature. The lands are stormy and the people are resilient; drawn by some strange sense of justice in their hearts, their connection to the heavens has made them feel invincible. They were the original conquerors of Onmyo, and even in the recent centuries they were at the forefront of most of the conflicts.

It is said that Empress Lyrica was the last of the dragonborn, and she never let anyone forget it. Born at the thunderclap of the biggest storm the land has ever seen, she grew up haughty and ambitious, learning to weather the Storm. She desired to reshape the world and had the strength of her ancestors to follow through. In battle, many thought she was tireless—an unending, relentless force of nature like the downpour. Strong and stubborn, she rode into battle on the back of an Eelektross and waged every possible war, perhaps for better or for worse.

Seconds before the conflicts began, the Empress fled. The people, even her people, never really knew why. In her stead, she has left the young Emperor Samori, a half-grown fledgling with soft teeth. He has none of her arrogance, but he does share her golden eyes. He is a relatively new force in this world, and not much is known about him.

Yongkai City of the Storm Kua is eternally soaked in rain. The tiered city is carved into the tallest mountain peak in the kua, with walls between each ring. The outermost ring is for the general populace, and holds people who are versatile and resilient. The streets here hold sharp-eyed warriors, and here they forge some of the strongest and most beautiful armor in the region—the jewel-toned scales of dragon’s hide are said to be impenetrable. The second ring is for valued guests, although it is said that strangers are welcomed in, and it is here that the Storm Kua’s ambition and burning desire for change is visible. The innermost circle holds the holy palace.
