Misty from low hanging clouds created an enclosed atmosphere around a young, yet valiant trainer named Logan Falchinon. The day had just broke, an overnight storm lingered, and the aura of a new beginning was thick and rife. Thunder rolled down the steep mountains of the Storm Kua, pockets of light flashed miles deep into the spring clouds, and a pasture before Logan bared itself upon him: empty and welcoming his first steps.

Townspeople were just beginning their day in the village behind Logan: opening their windows to the cool, mountain air, heating up the ovens for bread and boiled water, waking the night guards to be replaced by the morning shift. Down the slope, a river ran coarse in between the encroaching mountains. A few trees rooted themselves near the river's edge were a path had been made from many footsteps tramping on it.

The path ran along side the river, as many paths through these mountains are easier around the earthy behemoths than to cross over them. But a path did climb and reach to where Logan was standing. Yongkai, the city of lightning and thunder, in it's most glorious fashion, lay miles away from where the just trainer currently was.

Rumor had it that a Pokémon made tunnel near the western edge of the Kua, neighboring the Forge Kua, led a shorter path to the royal, yet was riddled with cave-ins, dangerous Pokémon, and pitfalls. Only a truly, brave adventurer would enter such an environment for the sake of time and travel.

But something caught the eye of the trainer-- a glowing light from down below. Faint, blinking, and warm, the light was calming and soothing to see dip in and out of the few pines by the river's edge. Would this new traveler investigate such a strange light? Or would they go forth on the path?

    Logan sighed.

Two Pokemon-one an odd metallic sprite, another a hatchling dragon-are his only companions, both trailing their master with a dilligent, steady pace to match the tall young man. Aside from them, his only weapon happens to be his uchigatana, hoisted on a blue sash and marked by the moon being struck by thunder.

It was said by some that the palace of the legends laid upon the moon.

Striking the moon with the stuff of the heavens. There were two ways to take it. It was either a statement of divine karma-that the deities above would punish sinners, roaring divine and obliterating the forces of oppression-or it was a statement of unchecked ambition, striking the moon with the gods own power. Both interpretations reminded Logan of the assassin ancestor that he shared blood with-the one that condemned his family name.

Logan strode across the open road with the intent to fix the wrongs of the past.

Logan breathed in the pasture around him, the open path, walking forwards, calm. He does not care about the lightning for the lightning is the way of life around here-symbolic of it. It strikes around you and hits the ground with intense force, the impact of a life, fleeting and powerful. Occasionally it hits something alive, and in most cases the voltage is far too much even for an electric Pokemon and it dies. That is life too. Life is unfair. It does not always care about your choices.

... And sometimes, life does. Logan's calm stride is broken by his catching of the light from the side of the riverbank, yellow, pulsing, calling his curiosity and telling him to come close. Logan thought to himself. Pokemon approached the village, rarely-only if they were scavengers and skirted around the villagers. Or foolishly bold. The former were irritating pests that ate food unwarranted. The latter was additional food. Neither of these felt the need to use bright lights at others, so it intrigued Logan. He kept both hands on the Uchigatana and stepped forwards, towards the light at the river, his Pokemon wordlessly following.

The mist had almost completely enshrouded the village up on the mountain by the time Logan had made it to the river's edge. The few pine trees by the brook rustled and the lights seemed to flicker less as if they knew of his presence. It really was a serene morning in the Storm Kua: light misty rain, soft thunder echoing between mountains, a distant roar from a dragon just waking up-- but then movement!

Something buzzed from one of the nearby pines. One of the lights flashed from far away, as Logan might've been able to make out the outline of a large firefly Pokémon, but in little time did the tree nearest to him pop out a little firefly of its own! A small black bug Pokémon with buzzing wings and purple hair flew out towards the distant glow. The glow was probably a mating call from a Volbeat, and the Illumise was answering with gusto, but instead ran right smack into Logan himself!

Bouncing off the lug of a man, Illumise rolled backwards in the air before her wings stabilized her. She shook her head and looked at Logan and his companions. These firefly Pokémon were well known in this Kua, they were little pranksters, always playing or fighting with each other with statuses and mischief. Intrigued by Logan and his Pokémon, the Illumise put a hand on her hip, the other on her head, and gave a Charming wink their way.

Thud! Something smacked into Logan's face, in its haste to see the same thing he was looking at. An Illumise-a trickster bug, looking for a mate. They are, in Logan's humble opinion, rather annoying, but not at all dangerous in any sense. He would let them near children if they weren't so prone to eating whatever berries they had in stock. Nevertheless, this one seemed honestly curious in the person she had just knocked int0-after shaking off the collision, of course.

The Illumise made a rather interesting pose-Logan's first mental image pretty much confirmed that this Illumise was looking for a mate. Or a partner. A stubby hand on her hip and head each and a wink-a charming parody of how some of the more free-spirited women of the village greeted others. Except, it was aimed at his Pokemon. An attack? A defensive mechanism? Logan had not considered the simple idea of womanly charm as a method of offensive.

Regardless of the ingenuity (or perhaps not), it was completely ineffective on its targets. The Bagon, Dr. Pepper (so named due to an incident involving both a medicine man and a stash of spices) was naught but a freshly-hatched Bagon, far too young to even comprehend romance, much less what all of that posing was about. Letting it walk outside was training enough for something so young, though Logan knew it wouldn't be that way forever. Meanwhile, Rex was a Klink, a Pokemon that had no form of reproduction that involved mating that Logan or anyone he knew had any idea of. If Klinks did have need for mates, or even could reproduce that way, they likely did not find the image of a humanoid bug doing that pose even remotely relevant to mating. Neither were disinterested-both stared directly at the Illumise, curious by her odd posing more so than infatuated by her charm.

Logan himself sighed. If the Illumise was stopping after that, she was either seeking some petty revenge or was curious enough to tag along with Logan, perhaps. Logan, after a second of beholding the silly spectacle, reached into his bag with a deliberate motion of generosity, silent, but a calm, small smile upon his face. After a moment, he withdrew a berry-a Sitrus berry, to be precise, one of ten that he currently had on his personage. He set it upon the ground between him and the Illumise, not stepping forwards but stretching as far as he could, and then retracted, kneeling, waiting. Maybe it would follow him, consider him master?

Once this was done, Logan just kept an eye on his two Pokemon, keeping a hand on Dr. Pepper and a hand close to Rex. They were full-he had ensured that all three of them left on a full stomach (or, well, what constituted as a stomach for a Klink in Rex's case), so they wouldn't be too gluttonous, but a scuffle breaking out over some food that neither of them needed would be just wasteful violence, and Logan knew the first rule of drawing sword is to only draw it in need.
