    Title: The Bug-Catching Competition
    Target: Wurmple (3,000 – 5,000)
    Reached: 6,994
    Status: Captured on PE2K

My Pokégear started to buzz me at around 6:00 in the morning, before the sun started to shine good over the horizon of my large and ever-growing Goldenrod City. Although I was about to roll over and use my slightly pale arm to shut it up until my friend Evelyn, a small, brown fox-like Pokémon with white puffs of fur on her neck and the tail’s tip, leaped right into my stomach.

“Ee! Eevee vee!” she shouted, dancing like a four-year-old that just received the ‘bestest Pistmas wift evah’ before I tossed my light blue and green sheet off of my body, showing my bright yellow pajamas that made me look a little like the famous yellow and brown mouse, Pikachu, only without the ears and tail. The whole time my light pink and white Pokégear that folded open and close from a large hinge at the top was still going off until I picked it up, but while I was doing that, I noticed why I was waking up so early: today was a Thursday!

“Oh my goodness!” I shouted as I bolted from my bed and started to rush into the bathroom to straighten out my long rustic red hair and slip out of the yellow pajamas and into a light blue-green shirt and black pants. “Well, Evelyn,” I stated, “Today’s the day we’re going to win the Bug Catching Competition and shut those boys up.”

While I was stuffing my Pokégear into my pocket and filling my small fuchsia handbag complete with stickers of all the Pokémon that Evelyn could change into, I hear a few people outside of my room, most likely my boy friends. You better not be thinking about “boyfriends” like I think you’re thinking about, these are just some friends of mine that just happen to be boys, okay. Anyways, where was I? Oh, yeah, so my friends were outside of my door.

“Come on, Gloria,” one of them, stated as my two other friends chimed in with their own versions of the same statement, one of them adding an, “It’s going to be over before we even get there at the rate you’re going!” However, I had just finished stuffing my bag with bottles and cures that my friends never really seem to think are important, and I opened the door.

“What took ya so long?” one of them, Samuel, asked wearing a small sun hat and nothing but white clothing on his slightly tanned body, “Packing up the useless bottles that slow you down again?”As the other two Maxwell, who was wearing the same sun hat only with a dark green shirt and shorts, and Keith, who was hatless and wearing dark red clothes, gave him high fives and whoops.

“Yeah, and who was it that had their precious Machop chopped down to size due to poisoning?” I retaliated and they just went silent as we started to head outside. The bright, warm sun was shining brightly as Evelyn let out a little sigh before hopping onto my shoulder as the boy sent out their Pokémon. Just as I predicted, Samuel had a small, light blue muscle-bound Machop, Maxwell had his faithful dark-orange and yellow flame-tailed lizard Charmander, and Keith had a small brown, spiky raccoon dog of a Zigzagoon. Nevertheless, we made our way up Route 35, talking about all that were going to do to capture the best Pokémon out there, but never once did we capture the illusive Scyther. Scyther is a bright green Pokémon that seemed to be able to move lightning fast and had large built-in blades that could chop through just about any kind of tree out there, so we made a promise that if anyone does manage to capture such a Pokémon, he, or she, will be the “leader” of the group.

Within a few moments, we approached the gates of the contest and they were presents with the Park Balls and were allowed to enter the park. Almost instantly, all four of us started to go to different patches of grass to look for the Bug Pokémon that were supposedly everywhere, but regardless of where I looked, all I could find were some dirt, rocks, and a few other items of non-importance. From out of nowhere, however, I heard a large scream from behind me as a small kid, no older than seven-years-old was running away from something and then I heard…buzzing? I did not want to stick around to see what it was as I quickly started to make my way out of the path of the kid, as Evelyn stayed just long enough to see what it was…

    A…

    Nest…

    Of…

    ANGRY…

    BEEDRILL!

Knowing that the kid likely meant no true harm to the whole nest of angry yellow and black striped bee-like Pokémon and that if they did get to the boy, it wouldn’t be pretty I waited until the boy was in line with where I was standing and then I tackled him into the extremely tall grass. Luckily, it seemed to be just what was needed as the Beedrill flew over us, still sounding just as angry as they were when suddenly I remember, “Evelyn!” However, the sharp, high-pitched cries signaled that my thought crossed too late as I stood and barged into the crowd of stinging and buzzing Pokémon to protect my friend when suddenly I felt a large wave of warmth flowing behind me before Maxwell’s voice called out to me, “Hey!” he shouted as the buzzing died down and, “Are you okay?”

I nodded as I looked around, not a single Beedrill was still around as they all must have ran when the Charmander used whatever Fire-type move it used, “Yeah,” I ‘m fine, “Hey kid, you okay?” The person that I tackled to save stuck his head from in the grass and nodded before going to the four of us, including our Pokémon.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know I was going to disturb a whole mess of them,” he stated, seeming honestly upset about the whole thing, “I wish I could make it up to you.”

I would have asked for the location of where he found the Beedrill, but I shook my head as I looked at the black-haired kid who was wearing the same black-and-yellow striping of the Beedrill, “No, everything’s fine,” I answered instead. All the while, I was getting up and making a loud moan due to the pain, but I was still able to walking around and move my body, which I guess is all that really mattered before I looked at Evelyn, she also seemed to be okay actually, aside from one wound, which I sprayed with a light purple Potion. It looked like Evelyn and I were still in the Competition as we shook off out pains and started smiled to the two, “We’re A-OK, so let’s get back to the Bug-hunting.” However, they both shook their heads stating that they had captured their winners and that they were happy with what they caught, but they didn’t me what it was as they entered one of the building to show their booty, leaving me where I was.

“ATTENTION EVERYONE!” the loudspeakers boomed, “THERE ARE ONLY FIVE MINUTES LEFT IN TODAY’S COMPETITION! SO BE SURE TO CAPTURE YOUR POKéMON BEFORE THAT TIME!”

As soon as I heard the announcement, I gasped since I had not even seen a Pokémon other than the Beedrill, but we quickly resumed our searching before seeing a red-orange caterpillar-like Pokémon crawling around nearby us. I quickly pointed it out the Evelyn who jumped in front of it only to startle the little thing, but, instead of running, the small worm-like Pokémon fired out a thin, silky white thread from its mouth, aiming right Evelyn. Luckily, she leaped out of the way with just enough speed to avoid the attack as I shouted out for her to do a Quick Attack. She let out a small, “Ee!” before disappearing from sight only to reappear in different locations for about 3 seconds. Each time she reappeared, the Wurmple attempted to fire a string of the silky white thread only to miss until the report of Evelyn hitting the small orange and red worm suddenly rang out.

However, that was enough to stop the little worm as, while I was getting a Park Ball ready, the small thing got up once again and started to spray small, razor thin needles at my dear Pokémon, “Evelyn, watch out!” I shouted as the needles hit, causing her to slide backwards on the ground for about a few feet, but otherwise everything seemed to be okay. She was still standing as I shouted out for her to try a Quick Attack and Take Down attack combo. She smiled at me before back up a little bit and then vanishing, once again, she vanished from sight only to reappear in different spots as the Wurmple attempted to spray even more of its silky white string before Evelyn reappeared behind, but still some distance from the worm, and charged at it like a bull in a matador fight. Just then, another report of the Wurmple being hit rang out as it went flying some distance, this time I threw the Park Ball, as it spun, moving through the air, Please let it be caught, formed in my head, It may not be a Scyther, but it is something.
