    [WAR I]: Week Five

"Six Pokemon wisely led will beat a hundred without a head"
    -Euripides

Welcome to the Headquarters of the URPG Section of WAR. I am your host, WTP, who shall be leading you in the festivities in these coming weeks. A lot is different about the rules this year, so pay close attention before scrolling down to the weekly battle rules posts.

    Participation:

In past URPG WAR sections, there has been a lot of whining and complaining about people ducking battles and about people not wanting to battle. So, we have a new "sign up" method. Instead of formally signing up to participate in this WAR Section, your accepting of a WAR battle with another individual constitutes your signing up for WAR that week. This means, if Battler A battles Battler B in Week 1, Battler A must then also accept challenges from Battler C in Week 1. However, should Battler A finish out Week 1, he/she does not have to battle anybody if they don't want to in Week 2. Should they accept a battle in Week 2, then they must accept all challenges from anyone else. This way, nobody is "forced" to participate. They know exactly what they are getting into when they accept a battle. This also allows participants to pick and choose which WAR Weeks rules they actually want to battle with. If someone has participated one week but not another, their spot on the spreadsheet will be marked with an "N/P" on the spreadsheet for that week until they accept a battle. So basically, if there is an "N/P" by someones name in the current week on the spreadsheet, they are not obligated to accept your challenges.

Should anyone still not accept battles, while not having an "N/P" by their name, please do PM/contact me on AIM in order for me to investigate. Should I find their refusal of your battle unreasonable, I will deal with the situation accordingly. That being said, please, avoid ducking battles, all of you. I'm going to allow a certain amount of breathing room for you guys here because I understand there are some times when you are just not feeling in the mood for a battle. Do try to make battles happen eventually though.

    Battling:

Depending upon how many people participate, I may adjust this number, but tentatively, each battler may only battle the same other battler 3 times a week and only once on any given day. Ash, this means you cannot pummel Felly 3 times in an hour because that's just plain rude, even if she says she'll battle each time. As per usual, each week will have a specific set of battle rules corresponding to that week and will be placed in the corresponding post for that week. If we are in Week 3 of competition, refer to the Week 3 post to find the Week 3 rules so you can do Week 3 battles (Week 3). I think that about covers battles. So uh... follow the rules.

Also, how logging works here. Refs must log the battles in this thread and indicate which Week the given battle applies to, along with the Team names of the participants. Other than that, they write the log as usual. Wages for these battles reffed will be awarded at the end of the participation week. These wages will be posted in the Marketplace, just like normal ref wages.

    Points and Prizes:

The URPG WAR section is allotted 5 points per week. The point breakdown will be as follows:

-2 Points to the Team with the most Wins
-1 Point to the Team with the second most Wins
-1 Point each to the first and second participant with the most individual Wins

All of the participants wins will be recorded on this spreadsheet.

Now for what is perhaps the most exciting part... the Prizes! As usual, the URPG WAR section will be awarding URPG prizes to the best participants. However, its fun to watch you guys squirm, so we won't be announcing what they are nor will we say who gets them until WAR closes out after Week 5. However, I can tell you that, as usual, all battlers and refs taking part in WAR will receive double wages for participating and reffing

With that, enjoy URPG WAR guys!

    Week 1 Rules

    4v4-6v6
    Revo/BW Revo
    Helds on/off
    Frz/Slp/OHKO/Eva/Accuracy Clauses
    No Legendary Pokemon
No starting Weather(Random if both battlers agree)
Normal Terrain(Random if both battlers agree)
Synergy Rule: All Pokemon on a battlers team must share types with the other Pokemon in the battlers lineup in a sort of chain-link fashion.

    Examples:

    Whimsicott(Grass/Fairy), Venusaur(Grass/Poison), Nidoking(Poison/Ground), Rhyperior(Rock/Ground)

This Team checks out, because you can clearly see how each Pokemon in this lineup is linked to the next.

    Absol(Dark), Greninja(Water/Dark), Starmie(Water/Psychic), Bisharp (Dark/Steel)

This team is also fine. Whats important is that you can start with any of the Pokemon on the given line up and follow the link all the way to any of the other Pokemon on the lineup.

Alakazam (Psychic), Girafarig (Normal/Psychic), Gengar (Ghost/Poison), Weezing (Poison)

This lineup is not valid under the Synergy rule. Although every Pokemon does share a type with at least one other Pokemon in the lineup, you can't trace the link of types from one Pokemon in the line up to any other.

Week 1 starts July 7th 12 AM EST and ends July 12th 11:59 PM EST.

    Week 2 Rules

    4v4-6v6
    Revo/BW Revo
    Helds on/off
    Frz/Slp/OHKO/Eva/Accuracy Clauses
    No Legendary Pokemon
No starting Weather(Random if both battlers agree)
Normal Terrain(Random if both battlers agree)
World Championship: All Pokemon on a battlers team must be released in the same generation. If a Pokemon family has Pokemon released across several generations, all Pokemon in that family are members of the first released pokemons generation. In the event of split evolutionary lines, such as the Poliwag or Ralts family, the newly added evolution will be put into the generation it was released in, as opposed to that of its basic.

    Example Teams:

    Dragonite, Porygon2, Aerodactyl, Starmie

This team works because they are all Gen I Pokemon. P2 counts as one because it evolves from Porygon.

    Alakazam, Gengar, Arcanine, Espeon

This team does not work, as Espeon is from a split evolutionary line, making it count as a Gen II Pokemon, unlike its basic form.

A pokemon like Roserade, whose basic form was released in Gen IV, but the first released member of the family (Roselia) was released in Gen III, making Roserade Gen III.

Week 2 starts July 14th 12 AM EST and ends July 19th 11:59 PM EST.

Excellent. I'm excited to participate this year. Can we use this thread as a Challenger Locator?
There's a Starman waiting in the sky!
He'd like to come and meet us, but he thinks he'd blow our minds.

He's told us not to blow it 'cause he knows it's all worthwhile.

I suppose, though I'd prefer if it didn't get too cluttered with non-battle logs. I'd prefer you use AIM/Skype as those seem to be the two most popular modes URPGer's use to battle. Still, if you'd prefer to look for challenges here, be my guest.

Yeah I'll do this, although I'm off to Greece for 10 days day after tomorrow

You'd need to join a WAR team first. The requisite information regarding WAR and getting a team should be found here.
