Hello, fellow URPGers! It’s time to do some recruiting, so let’s get things back in gear with some advertising!

The way this contest works is fairly simple: advertise URPG in as many places as you can in order to get points, and hopefully new members who are interested in the game! To advertise, choose whichever advertisement you’d like the Advertisements section below, and post it into the advertising sections of your favorite communities, forums, and social media sites!

This event will last from the time of posting until the end of Invitational (July 29th).

rules:

Breaking any of the below rules will void the points of the advertisement you broke the rule with.

• Follow the rules of all forums, sites, and other communities that you post advertisements in. You are representing URPG, so take your time and read their advertising rules to make sure you don’t break any, and respect their community. This includes posting an advertisement in the appropriate format and in the appropriate place.
• Check for pre-existing ads for URPG on that site. Do not post another advertisement if one has already been posted. Search for a pre-existing one!
• Do not advertise or recruit in the chat boxes of other forums--only post advertisements where you’re explicitly allowed to.
• Advertisements must be posted in a semi-active community to count. The community has seen some sort of social activity (not other advertisements) in at least the past two months to be considered active.
• Try to be socially aware of where you’re advertising—don’t advertise in places where you don’t think a URPG ad would be welcome, such as previous host forums or somewhere else that might not take well to an ad. These places are few and far between, but just be aware!

point values:

• 10 points - Recruit a new member into URPG. The new member must request a starter, create a stats page, and participate in at least one section (one battle, one contest, one sketchbook entry, signing up for a Park run or a quest, etc.) to count for these points.
• 4 points - Recruit an older/returning member back into URPG. This member must have been absent from URPG (having not participated in any section) for at least one full year to be considered a returning member for the purposes of the contest. They must update their stats and participate in at least one section upon their return.
• 2 points - Post an advertisement on a Discord channel (must follow all rules above still)
• 2 points - Post an advertisement on a forum or message board
• 2 points - Post an advertisement on Tumblr (maximum: 1 per three days)
• 2 points - Tweet a URPG advertisement (maximum: 1 per three days)
• 2 points - Post an advertisement in your own deviantART journal (maximum: 1 per three days)
• 1 point - Plug URPG in the description of a URPG or Pokemon-related work on a social media site (for example, posting URPG-related work on deviantART and linking out to the InfoHub in the description; must be work or posts posted after the contest’s starting dates)

Bonus points:

• Twitter: for every 10 favorites your tweet gets, you get .5 extra points
• Twitter: for every 5 retweets your tweet gets, you get 1 extra point
• deviantART: for every 100 views your URPG-advertising-description deviation gets, you get .25 extra points
• deviantART: for every 5 favorites your journal gets, you get .5 extra points
• Tumblr: for every 10 likes your post gets, you get .5 extra points
• Tumblr: for every 10 reblogs your post gets, you get 1 extra point

Site-Wide Rewards:

On top of your points earning prizes for yourself, they also earn prizes for everyone else! Your points pool together with everyone else's, and those points unlock rewards for the entire site!

• Everyone collects 200 points:
  
  • Double-exp week for basics
  • A free Underground roll on each forum
• Everyone collects 300 points:
  
  • 25% off Park shops and fees for a week
  • An additional set of fourplay Pokemon rolled in the next period
• Everyone collects 450 points:
  
  • 1.25x cash rewards on battles and contests for a week

Dates for site-wide bonuses will be chosen accordingly: Each top point earner will choose up to two dates that are best for them, then the event participants will vote on these dates. The date with the most votes will be the date the bonuses take place!

Note that different places might want different things--for example, a Discord server might let you advertise with just an image, or they might require you to add a description. Remember to follow the rules of where you’re advertising!

At it's most basic, the Pokemon Ultra RPG is a Pokemon simulation game, run by the community and including rule sets the games don't allow. Activities possible, via Discord or forums, include:
- Battles and contests without the four-move limit
- Rewards of in-game currency for battling, contests, and more
- Purchase of items and Pokemon from the Poke Mart
- Catching Pokemon by writing stories, engaging in roleplaying games, and drawing art
- Special battle modes and challenges, such as Free-For-Alls and custom tournaments
- Collect gym badges by defeating formidable Gym Leader players, and challenge the URPG Pokemon League!

The URPG is hosting a special invitational event from July 13th until July 29th, where you can participate in special events and earn awesome prizes!

tips and tricks:

Does this whole thing seem a little daunting? Don’t know where to start? Here are my best tips!

One of my easiest places to start are on dedicated roleplaying forums. These are forums like URPG, but if the whole forum was dedicated to only Onmyo or only the National Park. These are the places where I’ve seen easily-accessible, “advertising” boards the most.

For example, this wolf RP, Catharsis, (which I found in a “top 50 Wolf RPG” topsite through a “wolf rp” google search) has an advertising board on the bottom. It’s password-locked to prevent bot spam, but as you can see, they have the password, “advertise”, on the board description. They have their rules for advertising and such inside. The first thing you want to do is check and make sure there isn’t a URPG advertisement already there, and then read those rules, then post an advertisement.

Once you post an ad on a site like this, one of the best ways to keep going to others is through their affiliates. Roleplay sites love affiliating with others to get their name out. On Catharsis’ front page, at the very bottom, they have a lot of small banners with other site names. These are great ways to branch out and keep branching out to find advertisements. However, remember the activity rule--these forums must have had some sort of non-advertisement, functional or social activity within the past two months to be considered active!

Discord servers might be a little more difficult. I’ve seen a couple that have dedicated “plug your server” channels, but not very many. If you’re close with the community, feel free to reach out to the admins of the channel to ask for permission to advertise there in whatever way is best. If you do this, please post proof of that permission!

logging your points:

When you log your points, you need to include only a couple of things:

• What you completed and how many points that gave you (for example, +2 posted a forum advertisement)
• Proof of your advertisement (a link where able, if advertising on a place that’s harder to link [like a Discord server], please do a full-window screenshot instead that shows where you advertised, in what channel/spot, etc.)
• Your total points

Please list your advertisements/point gains chronologically, so that we can track our global points easier and more regularly!
