There are a number of topics that have been floating around as we finally begin to wind down on the unrest and commotion surrounding URPG in the past week. I am here to offer closure on a number of them and, as I promised, continue to be transparent on how we are moving forward.
Unfortunately, we are still awaiting word from BMG on if and how they would be willing to cooperate with us on retrieving our information. Admin Dig has been very cooperative in listening to my concerns, and he assures me that BMG Staff are reviewing our situation and taking into account many factors moving forward. I will keep everyone updated on this matter.
HKim:
We have elected not to ban Harry from URPG. Any transgressions he was guilty of, he is unable to repeat having stepped down from a position of power (for lack of a better word; I dont like the word "power"). Furthermore, we will be adding his name to the list of "Legendary Leaders." For the most part, this is simply a list of URPG Heads. Although right now in light of everything that has occurred it may not feel appropriate to venerate him in any way, we cannot deny his many years of service and sacrifice. His mistakes should not completely overshadow the large amount of good he has done for this community. We thank him for his leadership.
Monbrey:
This is mostly a reiteration, but Monbrey will be remaining in his position as URPG's Second in Command. His actions in the past have been completely transparent and he has already paid for them. Again, I do not feel comfortable acting again on a situation that was not only already handled, but one that occurred long before I even knew Monbrey. I never knew him as the person who said those things. I've only ever known him as the person he is today. And that person is a strong and trustworthy leader. I believe in and respect him for what he is today. I hope everyone else does as well.
I do, however, acknowledge the shock factor some of you may be experiencing in reading of his past actions in detail. I encourage anyone who is uncomfortable with Monbrey in any way to come to me or anyone they are comfortable with.
The Zoo Server:
We acknowledge this server's existence and the role it has played in creating much of the drama and toxicity experienced by URPG in the past few months. We also acknowledge that it was not simply a place for toxicity; that it was also at times a gathering place for friends to share laughs and vent in a healthy manner. Those URPG members that were a part of the negative outputs of this server have been warned or punished accordingly.
Moving forward, I would like to ask that people are cautious in the extreme with these side-servers. I would never be the one to tell you they shouldn't exist at all. However, it is vitally important to recognize when the server becomes no longer about venting and laughs, but something more sinister and upsetting. When this happens, the best thing to do is just leave. You can always make a new and positive place. But if you allow yourself exposure to hate and toxicity, part of you may start to believe it. This is how the toxicity begins to bleed into URPG itself and the way you treat people on a daily basis.
As a side note, if anything that occurs in these side servers makes you feel uncomfortable or upset for any reason, we encourage you to approach a URPG Staff member(s). If such an act was perpetrated by a URPG member(s), we can and will enact punishment. We already have for some. Again: Be smart. Use common sense.
Transparency Regarding Bans:
URPG Staff has been working for the past few days on what we believe to be the best solution to this request of our members moving forward. With thanks to Soulmaster for the idea and its execution, we will be creating a public thread for this purpose. In this thread, we will detail all members who have been issued section bans, chat-bans, temporary bans, and full bans. Any bans that expire will be removed from the list upon expiration. The thread will detail, to the best of its ability, who was banned, when, and why. We will be including all members currently on the ban list. We apologize that information for some of these members is rather sparce as some of them are very old or simply old enough that we cannot remember specifics. Some records are also on BMG which makes it more difficult at the moment. If you have any information to add to the thread, feel free to let us know. It will, however, be locked for Staff posts only. If you have questions about a member's post, I encourage you to ask. I will add a link to this thread in #announcements on our Discord server when it goes live. I will also edit it into this post.
The Future of URPG on Petalburg Woods Network and Pokemon Crossroads:
I am very proud and excited to announce our continued association, cooperation, and collaboration with these two wonderful forums and communities. In the past few days, they have been forced to take into account very difficult and extreme circumstances. These circumstances could very reasonably and very unfortunately have severed our relationships with these forums as they have with BMG. In light of our community's overwhelmingly positive and proactive response to these circumstances, however, we have been given a second chance. I encourage all of our community to continue to make the Staff and Admins of Petalburg Woods Network and Pokemon Crossroads alike proud to have made that decision. Hopefully we will become even closer with them as a result. Pokemon Crossroads Staff have shown me immense support as I introduced myself to them formally. I have no doubt that they will be more than willing to help us continue to recover and enjoy ourselves in their wonderful community. I look forward to working with all of them!
Please join me in thanking both of these communities. Join me in making them proud!
