Out of the depths of a barren, snowy wasteland... there came light.
It came like a badly-formatted meme from a TV show that a lot of people only pretend to read because you really can't watch it in public without a lot of forewarning because of all the blood and naked people.

That's right. Winter (Writing Competition 2015) is Coming. Featuring 666% more illuminati reasons why I don't do art.
Well, actually, it's already here, and it's in this very thread. Button up your overcoat, grab your hot cocoa, procrastinate on studying for your finals, because it's your time to shine! Fame, eternal glory, virtual cash, are all on the line! These sentences are all starting to rhyme! It's the Winter Writing Competition, and now's your time!
this is why we can't let me do poems
/|*| submission guidelines |*|\
- You may submit a story from December 10, 12:01 am (CST) to January 10, 12:01 am (CST); any story posted before or after this time frame will be deemed ineligible for this competition.
- Submission is as easy as posting a story across any of the three forums and then linking to it in this thread.
- You may write as many stories during this time period as you wish! However, you may only submit one story into the WWC. Please put WWC somewhere in your thread title for grader convenience.
- Your entry can be no longer than 150,000 characters.
- You must be a member of the URPG to participate in the WWC. If you're not a URPGer yet, go sign up! We'd love for you to participate!
- Our warning for graphic content still applies
/|*| voting guidelines |*|\
- Stories will be voted on in rounds after submissions close. In addition to getting the thrill of awesome literature, you can also get mad cash, so give it a whirl!
- You must be a member of the URPG to vote. Sign up here to become a URPGer!
- When voting, vote for your favorite story within the round, not necessarily your favorite person. Winners of this competition should be selected by the depth of creativity and talent featured in the story, not by personality popularity ratings.
- If your story is featured in a round, you can still vote without harming your standing! In fact, you'll get an extra three points for voting in the round your story is featured in! What's not allowed is voting for yourself. That'd be too awkward.
- Voters will receive 3k for voting, claimable at the end of that round. There's something special for those who vote in every single round!
- Voting time frame and total rounds will be announced once the submission window closes. There will be preliminary rounds, and then a final round!
- When voting, send me a private message with the stories you liked the best in that round, with 1 being your favorite story and 3 being your least favorite story in that round. The story that has the highest combined tally in that round will win that round!
- Include a two-sentence summary of the story in your private message. For instance:

A young Mewtwo must make it on her own in a mysterious underground city full of espionage and secrets and the mysterious Breloominati order. Although, as she uncovers the dark past about her hometown, she learns even more about herself...
2. The Catcher in the Raichu: A stunning exploration of a young Raichu who wants to defy everything--his parents, his friends, and even society itsef--to fulfill his dream of becoming a Pokemon trainer. I was a little put-back by how the author didn't deal with the fact that Sparky the Raichu was kidnapping his own friends, but it made for a fascinating psychological thriller. Also, the ninja pirates were a great touch!
3. Flygon With the Wind: This story was interesting, but given that 95% of the dialogue consisted of variations on "Flaahhh-gonnn" in an astonishing variety of southern accents, I had some issues following the plot. The charcters were large dragons, but they were also pretty one-dimensional, and it was hard to get invested in their story--in fact, frankly, my dear, I didn't give a darn.

In the end, humans all love a good story. When we think, when we speak, and even when we dream, we are simply recounting or creating a life, line by line. What will yours be?
Best of luck to you! <3 Feel free to ask any questions you may have!
