Noob Mini Competition
Welcome, new users, to the URPG's Story Section! If you don't already know, here's a very dumbed-down way of explaining how the Story Section operates - in this section, you can write a story involving a Pokemon you wish to acquire, post it, and with some luck, you'll actually get that Pokemon! It can prove to be quite challenging for some, but for others, the Story Section is their niche in URPG. Whether you're the next Stephen King or J.K. Rowling or not, there's lots of fun to be had in this part of URPG, so grab your pens and get writing!!
To help the new players get started in this section, Stories will be hosting a launch competition for all members that have joined the URPG on/after February 21st, 2014. This competition is intended to be a learning experience to the new authors interested in the section, allowing some not-so-confident writers to grab a foothold in the section. Look to the sections below for further information!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- At some point during the time frame of March 1st through March 31st, 2014, write and post a story with a target Pokemon of Simple rank or lower.
- When a grader grades it, they will determine if the story is passed or not. If it is passed, please post in this thread. If it isn't passed, you can revise and edit your story until it is deemed successful. When successful, don't forget to post in this thread the second time around either!
- Upon posting in this thread, you can claim another Pokemon of the same rank (Simple or lower) for absolutely no cost! The Pokemon you claim doesn't have to be from your story - it can be any Pokemon of the same rank as the Pokemon acquired in your story.
- BAM. TWO NEW POKEMON. WOW.
Don't think that this competition is just a free-for-all, though! We are Stories, and we are civilized! Before you dive in to the madness, there are a few rules that I should explain to you.
RULES
- You must be a member of the URPG to participate. If you're not a member but still wish to participate, sign up!
- To participate, you must have joined on or after February 21st, 2014. This competition is oriented specifically towards new players, so if you joined before this deadline, you should hopefully know how Stories operates!
- The competition begins now, March 1st, 2014, and will run until March 31st, 2014. The competition will end at 11:59 PM PST, and you will have up until then to post your story. No stories posted before or after this deadline are eligible.
- You may only write for a Simple Pokemon or lower if you wish to participate. You can still write for a Pokemon of a higher rank but it will be ineligible in the competition and must be posted separately.
- You can write as many stories as you want during this period, but only one can be entered.
- If you are participating, please tag your story's title with something along the lines of [Noob] or [NMC]. This makes it easier for the graders to distinguish the participants from the other stories of the section.
- All other story section rules apply.
Just so we're clear, you can only write for Pokemon of the Simple or lower ranks. Here is a list of the Pokemon sorted by ranks, but to make things easier, I've compiled a list of the Simple and lower Pokemon in the spoiler below, so look to see which Pokemon are eligible for entering the competition.

Make sure to read the appropriate threads before posting your stories, which are linked below:

As always, if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to send me a VM/PM/IM! I only have two jobs in this competition: to watch silently as tears of nostalgia overwhelm me, and to help you with any questions you might have! I'm here to help, so use me whenever you need it!
With that, it seems as if you can embark on your writing journey through this special type of competition! Make sure to write well, learn something useful, and most importantly/most cliched, HAVE FUN!
You can begin... NOW.
