Woooo tourneys~ As you may or may not be aware, there is currently an
IRC trial going on. To help bring a little more attention to that, or so I hope, we're going to host this tourney! A randoms tourney, to be specific.
"But Felly, we don't need a tourney to do randoms!!"
No, but you need a tourney to get cool prizes. And besides, what about all those times you rolled a crappy Pokemon in randoms and hated everything for it? (Especially your dice. Troll dice are trolls.) This tourney solves that problem..
And that brings us to our rules for this tourney!!
- Despite the fact that this tourney is relevant to the IRC trial that is currently in progress, battles can be conducted on AIM, Skype, or IRC, whichever client is most convenient for the two battlers and their ref. However, with that said, pay will be increased by $500 for battlers and their ref who do a full battle on IRC, from start to finish; there will be no pay increase for battles done on AIM or Skype.
- Each round of battles will last one week. If you and your opponent have difficulties getting together for your battle, please contact me asap. Do not wait until the last minute to tell me "hey, so and so and I can't get together for our battle because we're having trouble finding a time" or whatever your reason may be. Forum battles will be allowed if there is a timing issue, but come talk to me first. Depending on the number of battles incomplete at the end of a week, I'll either extend the week or disqualify the less active participant; if a battle has started but remains incomplete at the deadline, I'll advance the winner of the match at the time of the week's conclusion, if one can be determined based on current stats.
- Since this is a randoms tourney, you will need to post a
numbered list of the Pokemon you'll be using in this tourney. This numbered list will need to have at least 40% of the total Pokemon in your stats on it. This means that if you have 10 Pokemon in your stats, you'll need to put at least 4 Pokemon on your list. You are welcomed to post more than 40% on your list, but if you want to just meet the minimum, that's fine too. It's up to you what Pokemon you add or don't add to your lists. Remaining participants at the end of each week will be allowed to add or remove Pokemon from their lists at the end of each week, prior to the new week going up, if they desire to do so; the 40% minimum will still need to be met.
-- If 40% of your total Pokemon does not come out to be a whole number (for example, 40% of 72 is 28.8), then round up to the nearest whole number.
-- Participants will add or remove Pokemon from their lists prior to receiving their new opponent for the next week to prevent anyone from trying to create some sort of advantage over their opponent. Towards the end of the tournament, when there are few participants remaining, the addition/removal of Pokemon will no longer be allowed; this will be announced ahead of time, but I can't say when specifically it'll occur now since I have no idea how many people are going to sign up for this shindig.
-- Potential participants who have between 4 and 7 Pokemon, where the number rounds up to 2 or 3 if you take 40% of it, can still participate so long as they put all of their Pokemon in their list. If you have 8 or more, the number rounds properly, so do 40% of your total Pokemon as stated above.
There's also your typical battle rules, which are outlined below and will be reposted in each week's thread.
4v4-6v6
XY Private Full/Preview
Helds On (can be off if both battlers agree)
Sleep/Freeze/Accuracy/Evasion/OHKO/Legend Clauses On
Building Terrain
No Starting Weather
Special Rule: Modified randoms! The ref will roll a team of 4-6 Pokemon, depending on the selected battle size, for the battlers and PM this to them. Abilities and items can be chosen once you have your team.
And of course, with any other tourney, we have some prizes for the top placing members!!! Please note that these prizes are subject to change based on the overall participation of the tourney.
The person who receives first place in this tourney will get a Hard ranked Pokemon or lower of their choosing. Second place will get a Medium ranked Pokemon or lower of their choosing. And finally, third place will get a Simple ranked Pokemon or lower of their choosing!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask! If you're interested in signing up, fill out the form below and post it in this thread!! Sign ups for this tournament will close at 11:59pm EST on May 23rd.
