That's right! The URPG Budget Tournament 2014 is now open! The ultimate test of money management has begun. Which Pokemon will you invest in? What moves and items will you choose? Will you save money for a possible prize or spend it all at once? You will certainly encounter these questions and more as the Tournament rages on!
Please read this overview carefully! I know it's a lot, but it's pretty simple. If you have any questions, send a Visitor Message to me, or another Staff member.
Your Budgets
Each Participant will be given two budgets
(for the purposes of this tournament only): 100K to spend on Pokemon, and 200K to spend on everything else; Extra Moves, Berries, Held Items, Mega Stones, etc. You may not use your own money to supplement the money you are given in the tournament.
After each round, more money will be rewarded to the advancing participants in the form of half the amount they received the previous round. For example in Round 2, each remaining participant will receive 50K for their Pokemon budget and 100K for their Other budget. After a certain number of rounds, the amount rewarded to the remaining players will stop decreasing. A player will never receive less then 15K towards their Pokemon budget, and never less than 20K for their Other Budget each round. Keep in mind that any money you don't spend
will not carry over to then next round.
Purchases
Buying Pokemon, items, Extra Moves, and everything else will be done in the
Budget Tournament Ultra Mall 2014. Any current Staff Member or Mart Approver can approve your purchases there. You may only use Pokemon and items that you have purchased in the Ultra Mall for battles in this tournament. Nothing you previously owned can be used.
The cost of each Pokemon is dependent on its Tier. Tier 1 Pokemon are typically the best choices when battling, but they are much more expensive. All items, moves, abilities, and TMs have the same cost as they normally would in the Pokemart
with the exception of Mega Stones. Mega Stones will be worth 5K less than usual to compensate for having to buy them along with the Pokemon that can Mega Evolve.
What to Keep Track Of
In this sign-up sheet, each player should keep a record of all the Pokemon, items, and moves/abilities that they have bought during the tournament in a relatively organized manner. (Basically, another set of "Trainer's Stats".)
Important things to keep in mind: Please keep track of the money you have leftover after each round. The money will not carry over to the next round, but any leftover money you have at the end of the tourney will be added up and contribute to your prize should you be eligible for one. Also, please keep your Budget Tournament Stats in spoiler tags. This isn't a requirement per se, but having to scroll through every other participant's stats just to get to yours would be a hassle otherwise. Just type
at the front of your post and
at the bottom to do this.
Rules
Each Tournament battle will use the following rules:
4v4-6v6
XY Private Preview/XY Private Full
Helds On(Can be turned off if agreed on by both battlers)
Evasion/Accuracy/Sleep/Freeze/One-Hit-Knock-Out Clauses On
No Weather
Normal Terrain
Remember, this means you will have to purchase a minimum of four Pokemon to be able to participate in Round 1. If you do not have enough Pokemon by the deadline of Round 1 Battles, you will be disqualified. If you are a semi-finalist, you must have accumulated a team of at least 6 Pokemon to continue, or you will be disqualified.
Prizes
The only thing anyone should care about. This is what you will be fighting for! The monetary winnings will be capped at 20K and have a minimum payout of 5K.
Winner will receive 1 Complex-Rank Pokemon (or lower) of their choosing + 20% of their total remaining money + 70 Clan Points for use in URPG's Clan Wars.
Runner-Up will receive 1 Hard-Rank Pokemon (or lower) of their choosing + 20% of their total remaining money + 50 Clan Points.
Third Place will receive 1 Medium-Rank Pokemon (or lower) of their choosing + 10% of their total remaining money + 30 Clan Points.
Fourth Place will receive 1 Simple-Rank Pokemon (or lower) of their choosing + 10% of their total remaining money +10 Clan Points.
How to Sign-up
Complete this sign-up sheet. (please use Spoiler Tags!) As per usual, there will be a 10K entrance fee deducted from your
actual money in order to enter. The fee will be returned if you lose, but not if you do not show up to your battle. Please make a concerted effort to schedule your battles, or this fee will not be refunded.
Sign-ups will be open for
2 weeks. You must make your initial purchases within these two weeks, or you will not be rolled an opponent for Round 1. On September 24 after 10pm EST, purchases for Round 1 will no longer be valid. At that point, I will reveal opponents and Battles for Round 1 can occur for the next week or so.
