The dice have spoken twice. Firstly, they gifted me with pearly treasure. Secondly, they gifted me with steely Gem. Now, on these crossroads of fate and Pokémon, I request a final cast.

Family Time
Rick walked down a glowing forested path. The flowers on the side were adorned with various shaped and sized jewels from the common known ruby to the lesser known tourmaline. Little bees with quartz shaped eyes floated from one flower to the next. He crossed an emerald bridge which passed over a liquid gold river flowing around the corner. He stopped in the middle and held up a dark stone in the sky, inspecting it through the amber-like sun that shone brightly into it. In an instant, as if willed by himself, the stone turned to cash in his hand.
Easy money.

He woke up in his bed at home after his relaxing dream. He heard no alarm and had no one to wake him up. For the first time in a long time, he slept in and it felt good. It reminded him of his life 10 years ago, back before his monetary troubles. Back when life was a breeze and he was a leaf, riding it with ease.
“Good morning, sleepy!”
In the doorway of his bedroom stood his wonderful wife and partner in life, Jess. The twenty-six year old gave him a look of concern as she walked over to him with a cup of warm coffee.
“Are you feeling okay? It’s almost noon you know.” She sat on the bed next to him, handing him her cup. He leaned over with a tired smile, grabbing the cup with one hand and reaching around her with his other, giving her a friendly hug.
“I’m fine, it’s nothing to worry about. Just needed a good rest.”
Jess was a teacher at the local school in Petalburg City. Last week, they had a field trip to Slateport City to visit the museum and to go on a whale watch, among other sites and activities to see. She had arrived home last night only to find Rick fast asleep. She teased him about forgetting to treat them to dinner, as he promised he would, but quickly forgave him because she knew how much work he had been doing to support the family.
She takes her cup back, now empty. “Get changed and come down stairs. I think Bella would love to see you this radiant.”
As he began cleaning himself up for the day, he couldn’t help but notice the time. 1 PM. The Underground had been open for half a day already. Time he could be spending finding his next fortune. Time that someone else is making the money he could have. He took a deep breath to relax and not worry about it and heads down.
“DADDY!!”
A little girl, not much older than six, runs over to him before he can even make it all the way down the stairs. She grasped his leg, nearly tripping his balance on the last few steps. He pat her head as he tried to sit at the bottom. She let go, giggling with hyperactivity. He could tell she was exciting to see him after also being away for almost a week.
“Well now, that’s some grip you have there, lil’ missy. I don’t remember my Bella being this strong.”
She continued giggling, “Daddy, it’s me, Dad. See...” She lifted up the bottom of her shirt to show a new bruise across her belly.
Rick looked up at Jess, whom turned away and walked into another room. He gave a reasurring smile back at his daughter and proceeded to walk to the kitchen. From there, he sat down to eat and refill his energy. He listened to her talk about part of the trip.
“...and.. and, there was this big whale and it went whoosh” she motioned with her hands through the air like an explosion, “in the water and we all got wet. Oh, and Timmy thought he saw shark.”
“A shark?” He said, not really paying too much attention like he usually did with her.
“Uh-huh. I dun like sharks, they eat people and Pokemon, like this.” She motioned with her hands as teeth in a chomping action.
Rick finished his meal and paper reading and stepped away from the kitchen, walking toward the front door. He grabbed his long coat he wears on his way to work, “You’ll have to tell me more later. I have to go out for a bit.”
“Oh, okay,” she said, losing her cheer.
Returning to the scene, Jess walked up behind Bella, confused at her husbands action “Working on a Sunday? You promised we’d go out tonight. Pikachu’s Pizza Place, remember?”
He grabbed the doorknob, a nervous twitch veined up his arm. “It’s only three to four hours. I’ll be back for dinner.”
She bargained against him. “It’s a school night, she can’t stay up that late. And you have work tomorrow as well.”
His heart beat in pain. The love and care she gave for the family was almost too much. But at the same time, he is doing this for their well-being too. He surrendered to her, “You’re right... just... two hours, okay. I only need to check on something real quick..” He saw Bella heartily waving her arm until exhaustion as he left. He was going to use today to spend with his family, as promised, but seeing her bruised again only justified his choice to go back to The Underground. The faster the money came in, the sooner he can get treatment for her.
He set his phone alarm. “Only two hours. I’ll be right on home after that.”
