Grader Wages (to 8/24/2018)
Hi everyone!
It's my first time doing Grader Wages, and I apologize for the delay! I've tried to keep up the tradition of offering advice, so please read below for my thoughts as well as your wages!
I'm gonna take a moment to once again welcome evanfardreamer to the Stories staff team! He helped with wages too!
Please note that for this and all future wages that I provide, your base wages will apply to your legendary tracker, and bonus wages will not apply to your legendary tracker.

Comments: Both of your grades fit the Moderate rank because they "point out the most relevant and important issues for the writer to work on." I think you did a good job talking about what needed to improve, but I'd also like to see more of your thoughts on how the authors could accomplish that. For example, it's one thing to mention that Evan didn't spend much time describing his protagonist, but it would be even more helpful to offer tips on how to include that description without disrupting the pace of the story. Still, these were useful grades that should help the authors understand their weak points a little better! Thanks, Felly!

Bonus wages: $14,300

Comments: Wow, this was a monumental effort! While this was just a re-grade, it was longer than most grades! You mentioned at the beginning that you are interested in feedback on the format, so I'm happy to offer some. It's reasonable to take notes and offer thoughts chronologically in the case of such a long story, but there are downsides, too. For example, I noticed that you talked quite a bit about the character Tella, but these thoughts appeared all over the place due to the chronological nature of the grade. In the case of such a huge story, it may not make sense to lump everything into a "Characters" section, but a "Tella" section would have been totally reasonable. Then you can spend some time talking about your thoughts on that specific character all at once, so it flows better.
Here's something I loved: You used tons of textual evidence to show what you were thinking about! That in and of itself is really great to see. I noticed a few places where you could've pushed the grade into "Extensive" territory by really explaining what parts of the quotes you were talking about. For example, at one point you listed a quote that says, "Tella saw no problem with using whatever means she could," and you found it confusing to figure out "whose moralities lie where." A little more explanation could help: What is it about that sentence that makes Tella's moral alignment confusing? Can you compare it to another part of the story that says the opposite? How does Tella's moral ambiguity affect the overall story? These are questions you might be able to answer more easily if you group all of the Tella stuff in one place in the grade.
Take care of yourself, Jack!

Comments: I had Evan rank your grade for the story that wasn't his! We both appreciated the way that you found super-relevant advice to give on a handful of shorter stories, which can sometimes be difficult to talk about due to lacking content. We felt your grade for "A Ripple in the Pond" was a bit on the long side for an Easiest story, but just a bit. You still gave strong advice, which we loved! Thanks, Velo!
Thanks to all our hard-working graders!
