Easter Capture Contest: Crossover

Today, the Gardens are warm and breezy. It’s not too hot, not too cold, and there’s a bit of cloud cover to offer occasional shade. There couldn’t be a better day for a special visit to the Park for their newest Event.

Your Ranger for this trip, Trainer Sara, has brought you here and explained that while she won’t be actively leading you through the Park for this run, she’ll be trailing along behind to make sure nothing goes wrong. She’s added that, if you so choose, you can engage her in discussion or ask for assistance. Now, you’re busy walking through the long emerald grass as Trainer and her Serperior Imperious follow along about ten feet behind.

You don’t have to walk long before your first encounter reveals itself as a Petilil. The little Grass Pokemon emerges from the long grass, entering a shorter patch that just barely leaves its head visible. She blinks and glances at you with a quizzical, “Lil?”

I walked through the park at a casual pace along with the female Ranger who seemed rather mellow and her high-and-mighty Serperior. It seemed the day itself had said, 'LET THERE BE A CONTEST'; the sun was shining, not many clouds in the sky. This day was utter perfection.

I should really have Togekiss out just in case we run into something,I thought.

I reached into my pocket, grabbed a ball with a nicely stylized angel wing sticker that i got in a sticker pack from a junk store, and tossed it into the air. It reached a decent altitude, then popped open. In the flash of light that followed, the Jubilee Pokemon I've come to know and love as Tessa greeted the area with a lovely recital of her name.

"Alright, Tessa. We are on the look out for some awesome Pokemon to catch for a competition, so keep your eyes peeled," I said to my flying companion.

We strolled down the path into a longer, grassier area with a large variety of gorgeous flowers, spread as far as the eye could see. These gorgeous visuals only excited me more and added onto the fact that I would get a unique opportunity here; I would get to experience the park without a Ranger guiding me. Of course, I can't get away with anything as the entire park is rigged with viewing cameras to observe and prevent Trainers from doing stupid things. But I just wanted to have a nice peaceful stroll, and of course add some normal types to my Gym's assortment. We kept walking and walking, and eventually, we found a large patch of grass. Out of this grass came the Unova native Petlil, a Grass-type. That really was not what I was looking for; I could only bring one Pokemon with me once my experience was complete, and I feel better things are in store for me if I keep waiting. However, it would be nice if Roserade could have a friend...

"I'm going to get this Petlil," I yelled to the heavens. "Togekiss, use your Thunder Wave attack, into an Aura Sphere for a one-two punch!"

Togekiss pulled it's wings inwardly and started focusing her Electric energies to a focused point. After a short while, she released the charged jolt towards the little green flower-beast. As the jolt traveled through the air, Togekiss summoned a blue ball of energy between her wings and flung it straight at her as well. I hoped this combo would hopefully put me in a nice position for a successful capture.

 

Your Togekiss’s Thunder Wave travels through the air and hits Petilil before the little Grass Pokemon can realize she’s in a battle. Thanks to the fact that the Thunder Wave has left her stunned, she can’t try to dodge the Aura Sphere that hits mere seconds after the Thunder Wave. It takes her a moment to recover, but when she does, she doesn’t go for damaging moves. Instead, she glows a bright white for a moment, then suddenly releases a sphere of bright red light. It shoots into the air where it explodes; the blast causes the sun’s rays to become more focused, making the battlefield brighter and sunnier. It seems as though Petilil’s combo would have been better if it was reversed, but she now prepares an actual attack as several sphere of soft blue light encircle her body. The light pales to an ice-blue and the orbs rise higher until they’re spinning around Petilil’s head. It’s obvious her attack will be ready within the next few seconds unless she’s stopped.
