    (OOC: You can ask me questions through VM or AIM if you'd like, and remember you can attempt an escape if you don't want to battle something. I advise catching at least one Pokemon, though.)

    ~~~~~
    You enter the Valley and stroll down a path that leads towards the canyon walls. It's not long before you hear a slight meow and a black cat walks delicately out in front of you. The Purrloin hisses at you - it's pretty clear that it wants to battle.
    @ChainReaction01 (OOC:All right. Thank you)
    As I walked along the path, I attempted to look around the area. This was my first time here, so I had no idea what to expect. I breathed out heavily. Deciding now was not the time to lose my confidence, I raised my chin and started walking with gusto. The first thing I noticed was the tall grass that grew all around the area which would be perfect for any pokemon planning an ambush attack. I grinned ever so slightly. Hmph. If a pokemon had the guts to try ambushing me, I would commend it for its bravery.
    I was confident in Gengar. Surely he would be able to handle anything that would come along. With this in mind, I trudged along. As I was minding my own business, a tiny black cat stepped in front of me and blocked my way. With a hiss, its fur started to stand on end.
    “Just my luck,” I said to myself barely loud enough for those around me to hear. I was wary of the feline in front of me. It was definitely a Purrloin. Although it had beautiful green eyes that glistened in the light, I knew that Purrloin were a tricky bunch. I was sure I’d regret it if I let my guard down even for a second. I watched the cat swish its tail for a few moments and weighed out the merits of granting the Purrloin its wish.
    Purrloin were Dark type pokemon. I started reciting to myself what moves Purrloin was likely to use. I wouldn’t rule out a Night Slash. If it was feeling particularly sinister, it might even go for a Sucker Punch. Well, that wouldn’t be any good. I was no fool. Although Gengar was fully evolved and definitely stronger than the Purrloin, I knew that Gengar could get pretty hurt if we engaged the Purrloin in a battle. Purrloin would definitely get a same type attack bonus from a Night Slash or a Sucker Punch. Coupling that with the fact that Gengar was weak to Dark type attacks, it was a no brainer.
    I made eye contact with the feline in front of me and slowly started making my way around her. With Gengar hovering behind me, I wondered just how much the Purrloin wanted to fight. Maybe it would allow me to leave without a battle. Judging from its expression, I didn’t expect it to let us go, but I tried anyway.
    You try to sidle around the Purrloin and avoid a fight, but the black cat isn't having any of that. It runs in front of you and hisses wildly, swiping at the air with flashing claws.
    As I attempted my escape, the Purrloin hastily moved in front of me and clawed at the air. Lucky for me, it was simply a show of force. I might’ve been hurt had the Purrloin been keen on actually hitting me. “A feisty little bugger, aren’t you?”
    It hit me like a pile of bricks. A frown appeared on my face as I realized I had little hope of successfully battling this Purrloin. All of Gengar’s offensive moves were ineffective against Purrloin while plenty of Purrloin’s attacks were very effective against Gengar.
    If I was going to ask Gengar to attack, now was the time. The Purrloin seemed to be growing more aggressive as I mulled over my thoughts. However, that was something I really didn’t want to do, so I attempted to escape once again. This time, instead of attempting to sneakily avoid the Purrloin, I tried a direct approach. I looked at Gengar and gave him a single nod. Without hesitation, both of us headed for the canyon walls in an attempt to lose the Purrloin in our tracks. I ran, and Gengar floated. I didn’t dare look back to check whether or not the Purrloin was launching an attack, but if it was, we were sitting ducks.
    Your sudden escape attempt shocks the Purrloin, and you manage to flee into a small fissure. After searching for you for a couple minutes the cat gives up and leaves. Just as you're about to climb out and continue on your Expedition, a small black Pokemon flies down seemingly out of the sky and beings inspecting you closely with its one eye.
    @ChainReaction01
    (OOC: I’m writing as if I’m alone with my Gengar in the field. I think that rangers usually accompany trainers. However, you haven’t referred to yourself in any way, so I’m not really sure if I’m to act as if you were with me.)
    Fleeing from the Purrloin, I noticed a small fissure in the earth which was some distance away. I called Gengar’s attention and nodded towards the crevice. He was floating beside me while I ran, and he could’ve easily reached the crevice a couple of minutes before we did. However, he matched my pace. As I ran towards the crevice, I kicked up patches of dust, hoping that would help me lose the feline which undoubtedly was giving pursuit.
    I was panting heavily by the time we reached the fissure. Too tired to talk, I simply gestured towards the fissure and waited for Gengar to enter before doing so myself. I climbed in slowly and tried staying as still as possible to avoid creating any sound. Deciding to wait it out, I hoped that the black feline wouldn’t be able to find us. I didn’t even speak to Gengar, fearing that might give away our position, but I heard the sounds the Purrloin made as it neared us. I was quite nervous and could hear my heart beating (or so I thought). I hoped dearly that the Purrloin wouldn’t be able to catch our scent and find us.
    Long moments passed as I waited in agony. I heard quite a few scuttling sounds as the Purrloin walked around near where we were hiding. Finally, I heard it give a disappointed meow. It seemed as if it was giving up. I relaxed a bit and breathed a small sigh of relief. In hindsight, being pursued and not knowing whether or not you’d be forced to battle was sort of fun. This was the sort of adventure I wanted when I set out on this journey.
    I waited for a few more moments, knowing that the Purrloin would leave soon. Not hearing any sounds in the moments that followed, I decided that it was probably safe to go out. The Purrloin would’ve gone away by then. I thanked Gengar for waiting for me while we were running from the Purrloin. I chuckled a bit at the thought of me and my Gengar fleeing, as if our lives were in danger, from a tiny cat.
    “Call me a coward, but I like to play things safe. Gengar, a fully evolved pokemon, would’ve been able to beat the Purrloin, a basic pokemon, but I’m sure it wouldn’t have been easy. Clearly, Gengar didn’t have any effective moves against his opponent while the Purrloin had access to powerful moves which were highly effective against Gengar.”
    I didn’t know why I decided to say that all of a sudden. There was no one around to hear me. After I ended my monologue, I told Gengar that we should probably get out of the fissure and continue our journey. I wasn’t sure what to expect. A ranger had led me to the entrance of this area and told me I could explore on my own. I wasn’t sure how I would know when my adventure was over, but I didn’t want to waste any time.
    I climbed out of the fissure slowly. I was a bit tired at this point and had half a mind to ask Gengar for some help, but I decided that wasn’t the way to go. Sweating heavily by the time I got out, I decided to take a proper look around to assess the immediate area.
    The grass growing on the ground around us was somewhat short. I noticed there was less foliage. The trees were few and were somewhat far from each other. I said to myself that this place was perfect for a battle.
    As if on cue, an opponent had arrived. It floated lazily in the air. I had no idea where it had come from, but it seemed interesting enough. It was black all over and had a single eye. It seemed as if it was challenging me and Gengar to a battle.
    I decided to seize the opportunity. Gengar would have little trouble in battling an Unown. Gengar was definitely faster than his opponent. I knew he’d be able to run (or float) circles around the Unown if I told him to. I also knew he had the type advantage. Also, I knew that most of Gengar’s stats were higher and that the Unown only had access to one attack. I was pretty confident, knowing that the Unown would have little, if any, surprises up its sleeve. The only thing I didn’t know was what type its Hidden Power was.
    With all this information on hand, I considered asking Gengar to use Shadow Ball. It was his strongest attack, and I knew that the attack would be powerful since Gengar, being a ghost type pokemon, was extremely familiar with using ghost type attacks. Apart from that, I knew Shadow Ball would’ve been very effective against the Unown. However, I feared that the attack might make the Unown faint. I wanted to catch the Unown, so I considered using a different attack instead.
    “Gengar, use Hex on the Unown. This won’t be too powerful but will serve our purposes. As you’re laying down your curse, feel free to float in erratic patterns to try avoiding your opponent’s attack. However, if you can’t manage to perform Hex successfully while dodging, feel free to ignore that part about dodging. Follow it with a Lick. I apologize if that’s a bit disgusting, but we need to weaken it. Your attack might cause the Unown to become paralyzed. If it suddenly becomes slower or exhibits violent spasms, you’ll know you managed to paralyze it. If that happens, I have my park ball ready. However, if it doesn’t get paralyzed, I want you to get as close as you can to the Unown. Look straight into its eye and make sure it’s looking straight into yours. Try making it doze off using Hypnosis. I’ll be ready with a park ball whether or not the attack works.”
    (OOC: Yeah, good assumption. I think that's what everyone else is doing, so let's run with that xD)
    ~~~~~

    The Unown begins firing lots of little blue balls towards your Gengar. Still, the Ghost-type ignores the rapid-fire Hidden Power and Hexes the Unown before flying in and giving it a big sloppy Lick. When the Unown continues to struggle, Gengar puts it to sleep with Hypnosis, and you successfully capture the Unown! Applause fills the air. You realise that the applause is real, and it's coming from a Mime Jr who watched the battle.

    As soon as I gave out commands, Gengar swiftly placed his hands together and closed his eyes. For a couple of moments, he floated in the air and was as still as a statue. He then started chanting. He did it slowly when he began, but his eerie chant quickly hastened. As the chanting progressed, Gengar’s words blurred into each other, forming an unintelligible string of sounds. Although it had started as barely audible mumbling, the sounds became progressively louder.

    Meanwhile, the Unown’s eye started glowing. A light orange aura surrounded the Unown, and dozens of little blue spheres of energy suddenly appeared around it. The spheres started circling the Unown, forming a mystical and awe-inspiring effect. Moments passed before the rapidly rotating spheres slowly converged into a single large ball of energy in front of the Unown.

    At this moment, Gengar’s eyes opened to reveal sinister red glows. Gengar then slowly pulled his hands apart, revealing dark energy that crackled between his palms. He then raised his hands higher. As he did so, one by one, balls of black flame started appearing around his arms.

    The Unown then blinked its single eye, and out of the ball of energy in front of it burst forth a single light blue beam headed straight for Gengar. Gengar on the other hand, had sent forth the cursed flames. For a moment, I was worried that the two attacks would collide mid-air and cause an explosion. To my relief, the balls of fire danced around the beam, criss-crossing around one another while progressing towards their target.

    The beam of energy entered Gengar’s body and disappeared. Gengar winced for a moment as the attack pushed him slightly back.

    The Hex, which was slower than the beam, finally reached the Unown. The caustic energy seared through its skin, and the Unown visibly shuddered in pain.

    Without wasting a moment, Gengar, with his tongue stuck out of his mouth, flew straight towards the Unown. As soon as he was within reach, he gave the Unown’s eye a huge slimy lick.

    The Unown recoiled and was clearly angry at this point. After a few moments, it closed its eye, creating several orbs of malleable energy that revolved around it. There they hovered, exposed to the Unown’s unique aura and reflecting it in the form of a dull gray-blue. As soon as the spheres were large enough for its liking, the Unown performed a sort of lurch towards Gengar, and the spheres quickly flew towards him. They exploded on contact, pelting their target with droplets of water hidden in the center.

    Gengar, in response, started waving his arms in hypnotic patterns. A light blue aura surrounded Gengar as he created mesmerizing movements with his arms. Seemingly hypnotized by Gengar, the Unown started swaying left to right, reflecting Gengar’s movements. When the Unown was clearly under his spell, Gengar held out both of his hands, and red orbs appeared at their ends. Gengar then fused the orbs together and sent the product flying straight for the Unown’s now half-opened eye. As soon as it hit, the Unown’s eye closed shut, and I knew it was my time to act.

    I immediately took out a Park Ball from my bag and threw it into the air as fast as I could. I feared that the Unown would wake up and perform another attack before I had managed to capture it. I waited with anticipation as the ball arched through the air and collided with the sleeping pokemon. In a flash, the Unown was swept into the Park Ball, and I watched with trembling fingers as it shook.

    It shook once. I knew that Gengar had weakened the Unown significantly. However, sometimes, that just wasn’t enough. It shook once more. Gengar had also made the Unown fall asleep, and I knew that would help. I bit my lip as I wondered if I had done enough. I hoped it wouldn’t manage to escape.

    As I stared at the ball, it suddenly glowed red, and I heard a ping. “Yes!” I screamed into the air. Knowing that those were the signs of a successful capture, I punched the air with one of my fists. I was extremely jubilant and was ready to celebrate with Gengar over my first capture on this island.

    Then, I heard clapping. I said to myself, “You must be a bit too exhilarated. You’re starting to hear imaginary fans clapping for you. Better sit down for a while.” After all, no one else was around, and although I was jumping and hollering with glee, I clearly wasn’t applauding myself.

    Out of the corner of my eye, I saw movement and quickly spun around, wondering whether or not it was the nasty feline I had previously encountered. After all, it was only a few moments ago when it decided to give up, and I hadn’t exactly distanced myself much from the fissure.

    I breathed a sigh of relief as I saw a tiny pink pokemon that barely reached my knees. It stood on its two feet and applauded with its two hands. It had arms which were like noodles and a large, red, clown nose. It had what appeared to be a dark blue hat and a red bump on its stomach. Its hat was crooked and had a minute white ball sticking out at the top. I just had to smile as I realized how similar it looked to ice cream with whipped cream in a cone. I knew what this pokemon was. It was a Mime Jr., the baby form of Mr. Mime. It seemed like this particular pokemon was more attentive and observant than the common pokemon.

    I quickly mulled over whether or not I wanted to try capturing it. For one, it was cute. Girls would definitely swarm over me once I had a pokemon as cute as this one. Better not evolve it if that was my reason for catching it, though since Mr. Mime aren’t exactly cute. To be honest, they actually look somewhat weird. “Actually, scratch that. I’d feel bad if I captured this pokemon for girls.”

    “It’d definitely be fun to battle with.” Mime Jr. are famous for mimicking their foes to confuse them. “Tricky. That’s just my style.” It also learns interesting moves like Recycle, Mimic, Trick, and Role Play. “I’m sure I’d have fun trying out those attacks.” I smiled at the thought.

    Mime Jr. are also famous for being very cheerful and entertaining. They sure do know how to make others smile. A Mime Jr. would be a great friend to have.

    “However, that would mean I’d have another pokemon which was weak against Dark types.” That point wasn’t exactly a strong argument against attempting to capture Mime Jr. considering my alternative was an Unown, which was also a Psychic type.

    My last point to consider was Mime Jr. being able to inflict considerable damage to Gengar. Although Gengar would easily be able to weaken Mime Jr., Mime Jr. were skilled at using Psychic type attacks, which would definitely cause a lot of damage against Gengar.

    After weighing out the pros and cons of battling Mime Jr., I decided I would attempt a capture. I scanned the immediate area once again. I was looking for any possible advantages I could get from the terrain. There was nothing out of the ordinary apart from the fissure. Maybe I could use that to my advantage.

    I looked at the Mime Jr., and decided to attempt to befriend it before asking for a battle. I sat on the grass right next to it. I knew Mime Jr. weren’t very aggressive, so I didn’t worry about getting attacked. If anything, they were mischievous. However, since it didn’t pull any tricks while watching my battle, I felt I was generally alright. “Hey, little guy.” I reached out and offered a hand shake. “Seeing as you’re clapping, you apparently watched my battle with that Unown. Did you like it?” I motioned for Gengar to come over and sit beside me. I sat silent for a few moments and smiled. Since I had already made a capture, I wasn’t too focused on looking for more pokemon on this journey. I took the time to relax beside my Gengar and this friendly wild pokemon. Gently, I plucked a few blades of grass and attempted a grass whistle. This would help calm the wild pokemon down if it was feeling a bit mischievous.

    From the blades I plucked, I selected the flat and thin ones. Then, I held one blade of grass gingerly between my hands. I held one end of the blade of grass between the tips of my thumbs. With my thumbs slightly bent, I pressed the bases of both thumbs together, catching the other end of the grass between them. I carefully straightened my thumbs out to pull the blade of grass taut. I was careful of pulling it too taut because I didn’t want it to snap and have to start over. Finally, I pursed my lips slightly and put them right up against my thumbs. I blew in such a manner that the air went between my thumbs and over the blade of grass. It then made a high-pitched whistle sound.

    Of course, it was nothing like the grass whistles that pokemon like Roselia could do. When Roselia performed Grass Whistle, the music was so calming that there was the possibility for pokemon to fall asleep. I knew I wouldn’t be able to achieve that, but I was content with calming down the Mime Jr. a little bit. I sat there in contemplation and watched the clouds roll by. This really was a beautiful place. As I was admiring the scenery, the Mime Jr. suddenly started tickling me with the ball of fluff on its hat. I knew Mime Jr. had the ability to use the Tickle attack, so I wasn’t surprise. However, I couldn’t help laughing a lot.

    After a few more moments of talking with the Mime Jr., I felt that I had gained Mime Jr.’s trust or at least showed it that I didn’t have bad intentions. I had decided to ask it for a battle. “Mime Jr., what do you say to a battle? I’d like you to be a member of my team.” I took its response to be a yes and stood up, calling Gengar to my side. “Gengar, don’t go overboard alright? We don’t want to accidentally knock out Mime Jr.” I whispered in Gengar’s ear. “I’m not sure what ability Mime Jr. has, so we’ll have to test it using an attack. You see, Mime Jr. can have either the Soundproof or the Filter ability. The Soundproof ability blocks attacks which are based on sounds like Sing, Screech, Uproar, and Supersonic. Filter, on the other hand, reduces damage dealt by super effective attacks by one-fourth. For example, if a move would deal double damage, it would only deal damage one and a half times greater than normal. Mime Jr. and Mr. Mime are the only pokemon that can get the Filter ability, but the ability Solid Rock has the same effect. Only a few pokemon have the Solid Rock ability. These are Camerupt, Rhyperior, Tirtouga, and Carracosta. We’ll find out which ability Mime Jr. has by using Shadow Ball. If Mime Jr. has the Soundproof ability, it’ll be extremely weak after getting hit by Shadow Ball. If it has the Filter ability, it’ll be weak after getting hit, but it will still have enough energy to put up a good fight. Either way, Shadow Ball should deal a lot of damage. Let’s hope it isn’t a critical hit, though. That would completely ruin my plans and all this time we’ve spent getting to know Mime Jr. would’ve been for naught. Remember that Mime Jr. is a Psychic type. This means it is capable of dealing significant damage to you. However, this also means you are capable of dealing significant damage to it. Be careful while you battle it. Also, I want you to remember that Mime Jr. has access to Barrier, which increases defense, Light Screen, which reduces damage from special attacks, and Reflect, which reduces damage from physical attacks. I want you to be very wary. Mime Jr. are known to be very sneaky. If Mime Jr. starts applauding, that just means it’s using Encore on you and is trying to make you use the same attack over and over again. Try not to fall for that. Lastly, I want you to be careful of Copycat. Mime Jr. might make an exact replica of your attack and use it against you. Oh, and I didn’t mean to bore you with this speech, but I felt the compulsion to tell you this. Sorry.”

    Gengar merely nodded obediently.

    While Gengar was preparing to battle Mime Jr., I suddenly blurted out more facts about Mime Jr. “To get a Mime Jr., one must breed a Mr. Mime holding an odd incense. It probably has something to do with the incense calming Mr. Mime down. Without an odd incense, the offspring of Mr. Mime will be Mr. Mime, not Mime Jr. Lastly, if one wishes for a Mime Jr. to evolve into a Mr. Mime, the Mime Jr. must know the move mimic.” I knew I was boring Gengar out of his wits by this point, but he was kind enough not to show any signs of boredom.

    Suddenly, Gengar started clawing the ground. It seemed that way, but actually, Gengar was collecting the shadows on the ground for his attack. As if suddenly coming to life, all of the nearby shadows raced across the ground towards Gengar’s hands. Gengar then cupped his hands, collecting the shadows before infusing them with some of his own ghostly energy. Ethereal energy started seeping out of his fingers. The shadows dripped from his hands like water dripping from human hands. Then, he started forming the energy into a giant ball. The sphere writhed, as if alive. With the sphere levitating between his hands, Gengar rushed towards Mime Jr. and hurled the attack once he was close enough. The sphere of inky darkness then sailed towards the body of Mime Jr.’s body.

    When Gengar has finished gathering the shadows he throws them at the Mime Jr. The miniature clown Pokemon is thrown backwards through the air. After recovering, he fires a beam of multicoloured light at Gengar from the bauble on his hat. Both Pokemon collapse onto the ground, clearly tired out.

    (OOC: Will the opponent attack if I give Gengar an energy powder?)

    The black orb which was infused with ethereal energy flew fast and hard. Aimed perfectly, the Shadow Ball struck Mime Jr. directly in the chest. Mime Jr. screamed in pain as it flew into the air, knocked off its feet by the powerful force of the Shadow Ball.

    Although the Shadow Ball disappeared as soon as it hit, the ghostly energy had eaten away (or at least penetrated) some of Mime Jr.’s skin. Mime Jr. rose slowly but steadily off the ground and stood using its weary feet. Although merely moments ago, it felt extremely energetic, it was now battered and severely bruised. The Shadow Ball was extremely effective against it, and it barely had enough strength to continue the battle. It was determined not to give up easily though. It gave a hardy battle cry while getting to its feet, and at that moment, I realized how sorry I was.

    I was deeply regretful of how I had commanded Gengar to perform Shadow Ball. Although I wanted to capture Mime Jr. and weakening it first was necessary, I didn’t like seeing the state Mime Jr. was in. It looked as if it would collapse at any moment, and I didn’t want that. I knew Shadow Ball was Gengar’s strongest attack against Mime Jr., and for a moment, I was worried that the attack might have been too strong. I was relieved to see Mime Jr. get back to its feet after taking the blow. I decided to give it a complement. With a smile, I shouted, “You’re extremely resilient. Good job!”

    However, I knew the Mime Jr. was about to attack. I had hoped it wouldn’t use an offensive attack. My heart sank when I saw a pink aura surround the little pink pokemon. As its eyes lit up with a red glow, I knew that it was going to use an offensive attack. The pink aura was a telltale sign that it would be using a Psychic type attack, and I knew that Gengar, being part Poison type, was weak against whatever attack it would be using. I bit my trembling lip as I waited to see which attack the Mime Jr. was using. I knew that Gengar had been partially weakened by the two Hidden Powers he had taken from the previous battle with the Unown. I knew that if Mime Jr. was using Psychic, Gengar would have been close to fainting. Psychic was the strongest Psychic type attack that Mime Jr. could have used at the moment against Gengar. I waited to see if Gengar would become encased in a pink aura, showing that Mime Jr. had indeed used Psychic. Finally, I saw a tiny orb of energy forming at the tip of Mime Jr.’s hat. I was still nervous, considering the fact that Mime Jr. was about to attack with a Psychic type move, but I was extremely relieved that it was not using Psychic.

    A sphere of magenta started forming at the bauble on Mime Jr.’s hat. Suddenly, multiple tiny flashes of different colors started appearing within the ball of energy. At that moment, I figured out which attack the Mime Jr. was using. That was Psybeam. It was a moderately strong Psychic attack which had an extremely high accuracy. Apart from that, I also knew that Psybeam had the chance of confusing its target, and I was a little worried that Gengar might become confused after getting hit. Mime Jr. raised both of its noodle-like arms and put its palms together. I knew it was focusing its energy at this point. The red bump on its stomach suddenly glowed as the sphere above Mime Jr. grew in size. Then, with another hardy battle cry of defiance, the aura around the Mime Jr. grew in size, and it sent the energy forward. A single beam of multiple sparkling colors extended out of the sphere and raced towards Gengar’s body. The attack reached its mark, and Gengar cried out as the attack hit. I knew that would’ve been quite painful. At that moment, Gengar stopped levitating and collapsed to the ground. Mime Jr. did the same. Clearly, both of them were extremely exhausted.

    I weighed out the different choices I had at that moment. I could attempt to further increase my chances of capturing the Mime Jr. by making it sleep. If I asked Gengar to use Hypnosis, I would have had a larger chance of capturing the wild pokemon. However, Hypnosis didn’t always work, and if that happened, Mime Jr. would’ve had the chance to use one of its moves. Although Mime Jr. had access to many moves that weren’t offensive, I knew that there was the possibility of it attacking with an offensive move. I knew that if that happened, Mime Jr. would have knocked out Gengar, and I would have lost the chance to capture Mime Jr. I really didn’t want that to happen, and I feared the risk was too great. Because of that, I decided I would try a capture at that moment. I quickly ran my hand across the contents of my bag and felt the five remaining metal spheres inside. I had the choice between using a Park Ball, a Super Ball or a Hyper Ball. I knew that a Hyper Ball would have had the greatest chance for success, and I knew that if the capture failed, I was a goner. That would leave me in the same situation as me having commanded Gengar to use Hypnosis and the attack having missed. That made me decide to pull out all the stops. I withdrew from my bag the Hyper Ball. There would be no point in saving the Hyper Ball for future battles if I lost this one. I threw the ball in the air, hoping the Mime Jr. wouldn’t try to escape.

    (OOC: Yes, they'll attack if you heal Gengar, unless you heal him between battles. Also, what gender do you want Mime Jr. to be?)

    ~~~~~
    You throw the Hyper Ball at the Mime Jr., and the capture device locks down without even shaking. You pick the ball up and continue down the path. A couple of minutes later you hear a low growling and a long black panther stalks out of the bushes, eyeing you in a very strange way.
    (OOC: Male please.)
    The Hyper Ball absorbed the Mime Jr. in a flash of light, and nervously, I waited for it to shake. Once, twice, and ping. I had successfully captured the Mime Jr. A broad grin spread across my face as I went over to pick the ball up. “Good job, Gengar!”
    We started walking again, and I wondered what kind of pokemon I would see next. Suddenly, I started hearing low growls from the nearby bushes. Without even seeing it, I knew that it was a fierce pokemon. I stopped walking and waited for the pokemon to show itself.
    Slowly, it walked out the bushes with its fur standing on end. The large purple feline looked very aggressive. It was a Liepard. Maybe the Purrloin I encountered previously was its offspring. I didn’t want to battle, so without turning away, I started walking backwards. If I was able to escape, I would give Gengar an Energy Powder. He looked considerably tired.
    (OOC: Free hint: you can use the PokeDoll to automatically escape, if you'd like.)
    (OOC: Thanks. It doesn't really matter, but shouldn't the Liepard not have used an attack since it was the first time I tried running from it?)
    The slender feline Pokemon quickly blocked my path of escape before I could manage to run. Clearly, it wanted to battle. It menacingly brandished its claws and started sharpening them on some nearby rocks. I knew that Gengar wouldn't be able to stand a hit from the Liepard, so I decided to use the PokeDoll this time. I took out the pink stuffed toy from my bag and threw it in front of the Liepard, ready to dash off in the opposite direction once it was distracted. While running, I'd be giving Gengar an Energy Powder to heal up some of his bruises.
    (OOC: You're completely right, I forgot. My bad.)
    ~~~~~

    The doll manages to distract the Liepard, and you dash past with your Gengar. When you've lost line of sight with the Dark-type, you feed your Pokemon an Energy Powder. A Clefable walks up to you curiously, interested in what's going on.

    (OOC: You forgot to edit the battle stats :) )

    As the PokeDoll landed in front of the Liepard, it emitted a loud squeak. The Liepard, intrigued, tried pawing it. I knew it would only be a matter of time before it manages to accidentally shred the doll with its wickedly sharp claws, so I ran as fast as I could. While making a mad dash away from the Purloin, I was absolutely sure that anyone who saw me would take me for a lunatic, but I didn't care. When I finally stopped, a bipedal pink pokemon with long pink ears appeared in front of me and put its head to one side, curious as to what I was doing. The tips of its ears were a dark brown, and it had a pair of large wings on its back. I identified it as a Clefable and knew that Clefable were rarely seen due to their natural shyness. It was a great opportunity. However, I was quite weary at this point of the journey and decided I would not take this chance. I waved at the Clefable and smiled as I attempted to walk past it, hoping it didn't want to battle.

    The Clefable started following me after a few steps, and I knew I wouldn't be able to get rid of it by simply walking around. I was tempted to make Gengar attack, but I knew the Clefable would be able to take a couple of Gengar's attacks before fainting. I didn't want to tire Gengar out, so I turned to Gengar and hastily whispered in his ear. "At the count of three, I want you to dash towards Clefable. I'll do the same. Just before we crash into the fat pink fairy, you'll go left and I'll go right. Hopefully, it'll be confused by this. Then, while the Clefable's attempting to figure out what we're doing, we'll run towards that tree." At that moment, I pointed to a particularly tall tree a bit off in the distance. "Of course, if the Clefable doesn't get disoriented, we won't get the opportunity to make a run for it. Did you understand?" With a quick nod of his head, Gengar waited for my signal. A few moments passed before I spoke again. In a soft but firm voice, I started counting. "One, Two, Three!" With those words, both of us started charging towards the grinning winged pokemon.

    OOC: Please post to say which Pokemon you would like to be judged, the Unown or the Mime Jr. Remember, the Pokemon you choose for judging does not necessarily have to be the one you take out.

    ~~~~~
    Your plan succeeds and you manage to whisk past the Clefable. Soon afterwards you hear an easily recognisable string of horn blasts, calling you back to the staging area. The Capture Contest is over.
