    @Soulmaster;

(OOC: If you have any questions about anything, let me know.)

    NBP#1

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

“What do you think, Haji?” Ivy asked the purple cat beside her.

They were currently standing in front of what used to be the Outer Heavens. For some reason, the supports that used to hold the sky paradise up had fallen down, taking the Flying-type habitat with it. After they had relocated all the Pokemon, they had began to clear out debris. They found this underneath it.

What was this? This was a highly advanced and technological underground facility. They had started calling it the Enigma Ruins, and after a few months of researching and exploring, it was deemed save for Trainer travel. That's where she came in.

The facility was said to be able to transport Pokemon from all of the other areas of the Park to inside the many rooms. It was previously used for research – at least that's what they were assuming. Nobody really knew because it hadn't been uncovered until decades after the Ranger outposts had been established. The place looked a lot older than that.

So, to offset the outcry from some Trainers over the destruction of the Heavens, it was decided that Trainers could be led through here instead. They were even hosting an event that promoted a cheaper run, more time spent, and an additional Pokemon for the Trainer to take home. She was looking forward to it. If she had time, she might even check the place out as a Trainer too.

Things were still being excavated, and not all of the rooms in the place had been discovered yet, so now was as good of time for an event as any. She was ready to get going.

Ivy looked down at her phone to see the stats of a Trainer she was going to be taking this afternoon. From what the document said, his name was Juan. She was going to wait here until he showed up.

“I think we are ready,” Haji said against her mind.

    @WinterVines;
OOC: Thanks. I give no guarantee how well I'll do.
    ---------------------------------------
"So it looks like we have our first run Gengar" Juan said to Gengar.

"Yes I can't wait to see what we do"

"Same here. Well let's get started"

As Juan and Gengar were walking up he was giving the ruins a inspection.

So this is what the infamous Outer Heavens looked like. hmm I thought it would be bigger. But the collapse of it must have cut down on the size. What was it called now, the Engima Ruins? Either way I thought it would be bigger, and not as much lava...

As he was walking up Juan sees someone standing there with a, was that a Purrlion? He approached her with his hand stuck out,

"Greetings my name is Juan Felipe Alejandro Cortez Esteban de la Vega Montolla Fuego Martinez Medrano Igesias and this is Gengar."

@Soulmaster; Snap, Haji is actually an Espeon XD That's what I get when I rush.

    NBP#2

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Haji alerted her to someone approaching, and she turned to see a Trainer come walking up with a Gengar floating next to him. Ivy thanked the Espeon silently and smiled at the newcomer.

Politely, he walked up and offered his hand, introducing himself with an incredibly long name. He also introduced his Pokemon. She shook his hand and returned the favor. “Hi there. I'm Ivy Frost, and this is Haji,” she said as she gestured toward the psychic cat. “We'll be taking you through the Ruins today. They're fairly new, so who knows what we'll find.” She gestured for the duo to follow her, and then she ducked into the entrance.

The Enigma Ruins consisted of a many-roomed building that was over a mile long, if she remembered correctly. They had yet to map the whole thing out, so Ivy made sure to pay attention closely. She didn't want to get them lost, even though Haji could most likely get them out.

The dirt path sloped downward into a set of steel-colored doors, and they slid open automatically as the group neared them, and the Ranger wondered if there was a manual way to control them. That could potentially be problematic if the power shut down. She didn't want people trapped down here.

The lights were working, at least, and the glowing overhead panels gave everything a high-tech look. Of course, that's what this place was like anyway, since it was much more advanced than anything they had built on this island. It made her wonder how it got here.

The opening hallway was a straight shot until it met an intersection at the end, forming a T. Along the walls were many doors that she supposed led into different research rooms. The hallway was littered with crates pushed up against the walls though. She wasn't sure if there was anything in them, but they were almost as tall as she was, coming up to her chest. She made a mental note to ask if the contents had been searched.

“Well, where do you want to go? I hear there's supposed to be a main research room that brings Pokemon to it, so we could head there. Then again, this place is mostly unexplored, and there could be stray Pokemon running around in some of the rooms. What do you think?”

Before Juan could answer, a small noise caught her attention a few feet ahead. From behind one of the crates, a small shaggy bug looked back at them. It sort of looked like a tree, with a dark green leafy covering.

“Oh, hey,” she said. “There's a Burmy. Do you wanna try catching this one?” She looked at the hallway again, this time from a battler's perspective. “The hallway isn't really that tight, and most of the other rooms will be like this anyway. I don't think it'll be too bad to fight in, if you wanted to.”

@WinterVines; OOC: So um, 2 years, 2 and a half months later? Not too late, right? And I knew there was a reason I didn't follow up, trying to figure stuff out without stepping over the line. Backtrack some, go forward a little, different points of view, ugh. managing just over 500 characters, lovely. And a blast from the past with my style and un-EMed mons, strange.

    --------------

After the pleasantries were dispensed with, Juan and the Ranger, whose name was Ivy, along with their Gengar and Espeon respectively, set off into the ruins. They had walked for only a little bit when a Burmy popped out of the remnants. While Juan was intrigued by the way Burmy changes its form, he had never really felt the need to capture one. After consulting with Gengar for a moment Juan replied.

“No, I think we should let Burmy continue living its life here in the ruins,” Juan said to Ivy. “Let’s see what else we can find deeper in these ruins. How about we just wander down the passageways? It’s always more fun leaving the beaten path.”

@Soulmaster; Sorry it took a little bit to get a post up. I just recently got back from an out of state wedding and then I had to reroll your list since I ended the run a long time ago. What kind of run would you like? A more laid-back, more RP one? Or do you just want to get through some mons?

    NBP#3

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

The Trainer stared at the small bushy insect for a little bit, making up his mind. The wild Pokemon didn't look too violent, but then again, Ivy had never really spent a lot of time around these types of Pokemon. The Woods were nice, but most of her time was in the other areas making repairs and such.

After a moment, the Trainer shook his head. “No,” Juan said, “I think we should let Burmy continue living its life here in the Ruins.”

He then expressed a desire to see the depths of the place. Ivy couldn't blame him. Since the entire area was pretty new (at least to them), it was exciting to be discovering some of this stuff firsthand. “How about we just wander down the passageways? It's always more fun leaving the beaten path.”

The Ranger nodded. Although the hallways were pretty standard, they branched off into many different rooms used for all sorts of things—from research to meetings to break rooms. To get to many of these, however, they would have to move past the Burmy.

It was looking at them with big eyes, cataloging their movements. It must've missed the big push of Trainers that came through for the event if it was looking at them so amazed.

Ivy hoped the little bug wouldn't impede their movements as she stepped forward to scoot by it. However, when she was no more than a few feet down the hall from it, she felt a cold chill wash over her limbs. They tingled—much like when Haji used his Psychic powers on them.

She was able to tilt her head to the side a little, but when she tried to move the rest of her body, it wouldn't budge. Looking back at the Trainer, she saw that his body was cloaked in a familiar eerie blue light. Haji confirmed her suspicions; the Burmy had frozen them in place with its power.

With a little practice, Ivy was able to move her lips enough to speak. “It must have some psychic ability, maybe with Hidden Power,” she said. “I guess it doesn't want us to leave.”

Haji could probably break them out, since his mental abilities far outshone many of the other Pokemon she met, but this was the Trainer's run, and she had to let Juan decide some things too. Now she just had to wait to see what he would do.

@WinterVines; lol, yeah, sorry about that. Quite honestly, mostly just want to get through stuff, but still RP. Kinda just go along, not anything specifically. And I didn't quite know when my realm ended and yours began with using moves, so I just kinda ended when it was charging.

    -------------

Ivy nodded as Juan said which way he wanted to go. As they went to move, they found that everybody was frozen in place.

Ivy managed to move just enough to say a lone sentence. “It must have some psychic ability, maybe with Hidden Power,” she said. “I guess it doesn't want us to leave.”

"Gengar, think you can do anything to release us?" Juan asked.

"If I use Hypnosis we might be able to escape while the Burmy is sleeping," Gengar replied.

"Very well, go ahead and use Hypnosis then, Gengar," Juan directed.

Gengar’s eyes glowed as he prepared to give Burmy his Hypnotic gaze.

@Soulmaster; I bumped the escape rate up to 75% but it still failed ;x Be aware of surroundings when in situations like this. I would've let it work if the roll said so since it's so low rank, but realistically it wouldn't have made a lot of sense.

    NBP#4

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

There was quiet next, but through Haji, Ivy felt the flicker of some sort of communication between Juan and his Gengar. That was probably less taxing than trying to move enough to speak out loud.

From her angle, the Ranger could faintly see that the Gengar's eyes started glowing an eerie blue color. The problem was that they were still trapped in the Psychic grip. The ghost's eyes were starting to swirl, and that was when Ivy looked away. It must've been a Hypnosis attempt. It wouldn't be good if she fell asleep on the job while they were encountering a wild Pokemon.

Unfortunately for the Trainer, the Burmy couldn't see the Gengar either. They were all still locked in their forward progress steps, and that meant they were turned away from the Burmy. The plant-like Pokemon made a curious noise as it bounced around near them, examining them like it hadn't seen a lot of people before. If it had spent a lot of time pinned up in trees, maybe it hadn't.

Ivy could feel that the Psychic hold that the Burmy had on them was weakening, however. If she really pushed her muscles, she could very minutely roll her shoulder. It wouldn't be long before the strain of holding all four of them became too much for the little Pokemon. While it was true that Haji could've broken the hold at any time, it was up to the Trainer to do this little bit of problem-solving.

“I think its hold is starting to fade,” Ivy managed to mumble out. If she used her muscles more, would that help? Or was it entirely mental?

Either way, Juan had to act. If the Burmy wanted to take a bite out of one of them, there wasn't much stopping it at the moment.

@WinterVines; I really need to be better about this. And wow, with Bury being behind it gets a whole lot harder trying to fight it. Really have to think outside the box. Also feel bad about the short post, but short is better than nothing, right?

    ---

Burmy being behind them really put a twist in Juan's plans. Juan had thought Hypnosis would work, but he forgot it couldn't go behind.

"Gengar, do you think that you can manage to fade back into the shadows a turn around when you reappear? And then manage to let off a Shadow Ball after you've turned around?" Juan asked Gengar telepathically.

    "I can try."

"Okay, so charge up a Shadow Ball, fade into the shadows of a nearby tree, and then reappear turned around and let the Shadow Ball loose!"

    @Soulmaster;

    NBP#5

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

The longer they stayed in the hall, the more Ivy could feel her body reacting to commands. Soon, the Psychic energy holding them in place would fade away, giving the Trainer more room to maneuver. Gengar's first technique didn't quite work, but she could faintly feel the play of energy behind her, which meant the Trainer wasn't going to just wait this out.

From over her shoulder, the Ranger could barely see movement. That she could move her head more than before was reassuring, since the Psychic hold was breaking down.

Gengar's body flickered and faded, and even from her spot, she could feel energy welling up at his center. He must've been prepping an attack. Shadows and darkness seemed drawn to him, stretching out toward the ghost like he called them forth.

Then, the Poison-type disappeared completely for half a second, only to reappear with his back facing Ivy. That put him in line of sight of the Burmy, most likely. She couldn't quite see the Bug-type to be sure.

However, she did feel when Gengar let off the Shadow Ball. A startled squeal sounded, and abruptly, the energy holding them released. The Ranger stumbled forward thanks to momentum before she was frozen, but she managed to catch herself with a palm to the wall.

Turning around, she tried to spot the wild Pokemon, but it was gone. That was odd. The Shadow Ball had probably knocked it back, but it didn't try to retaliate. She guessed it wasn't much of a fighter after all.

It could've been hiding behind the massive crates in the hall, or it was possible that a teleporter was tucked away in here somewhere (which was entirely possible; some weird things had happened here, like massive flooding). Either way, now was probably a good chance to escape if they were going to.

Ivy waved Juan forward and as they took steps down the hall, she listened. But the Burmy didn't come back. She shrugged; if it wasn't causing trouble, she wasn't going to look for it.

They reached the T intersection without any disruptions, but now they had to decide which way to go. Doors lined both sides of the hallways, leading to a host of different rooms: classrooms, conference rooms, break rooms, labs, and even dwelling places for people who used to live here. It was all really strange still—the place was highly advanced compared to some of their modern technology, but the diagnostics tests that the lab had run determined that this facility was much older than it appeared. What was going on here?

Then, something came flying out of one of the doors to the left. Ivy jumped back, only to see a... rock? It didn't take long for a flash of pink to pounce on it, sending the rock skidding to bounce off the wall and stop near the Trainer's feet. A small, pink cat cat watching it, its haunches up in the hair and its front paws lowered, as if it would spring at any second.

“I guess there's more Pokemon just running around than I thought. Maybe one of the teleporter pads are broken,” Ivy mused. “Anyway, here's a Skitty that might be interested.”

The cat looked up at the people, never getting out of its pose. Its eyes flicked from the Trainer back to the rock, as if it couldn't decide what it wanted to do more.
