I sat at my desk, examining the files sent to me. They wanted me to go to an area I hadnt been before. Normally Id be okay with it, but this time some rumors had been spreading beforehand. Supposedly some theives were in the Ruined Manor, which bugged me. While I had complete faith on my pokemon being able to handle battles, I didnt want to risk it.

Guess I wasnt the one that signed the checks though. I threw my bag over my shoulder, and headed down to the HQ garage. I jumped on an ATV and drove off, still nervous about this run.

I arrived at the front gate leading to the manor very quickly. Looking around, I couldnt see anybody. Grabbing a Red-and-White sphere off my belt, I quickly released the creature inside. There was a flash of red and a Black and Purple bat appeared before me.

"Hey girl, keep a lookout for theives from above," I said to Gleam, my Gliscor. She nodded and flew into the air, hovering above me. I fidgeted and couldnt hold still, looking for my trainer.

@Kantomasta; Using my Pokeplayer right at the start

IC: The day had come at long last, the day that I started going to the park again. It had been a very long time, and I was excited to go back, and attempt to capture some new Pokemon. I'd heard that a new area had been built there so there was more room for the large number of Pokemon. It was called the Ruined Manor, and I was looking forward to heading to this area, because it looked to be home to various Dark, and Ghost-types, and those were always relatively useful in battles.

I went to make sure I grabbed my supplies. I packed my bag full of various items that I had from the past, including my Pokeplayer, which I decided to have start playing right away with my Litwick Voice Disc when I got to the park. I figured why not see if I could encounter one for some trades or something. I decided to bring along three Pokemon, my Ambipom, Chandelure, and my own Litwick.

"Hey, Ambipom, you're up," I said, throwing its Pokeball in the air. I figured I'd let that be out of its ball for the duration of the run, or at least until it battled, if it did, until it needed rest. "Well let's get going," and with those words we were off to the ranger post.

After fifteen or so minutes of walking we reached the front gate of our destination, and there I saw one other person who I had guessed was my ranger.

"Hello, I'm Eric," I said as I approached him with my hand out.

A man approached me, reaching out his hand. "Hello, I'm Eric," the man said.

Recognizizing Eric as the trainer I was supposed to be taking through the park, I shook his hand. I smiled at the monkey pokemon next to him, an Ambipom. "I'm Damian, I'll be your ranger for this run. I'm also required to let you know there are rumors of poachers in the Manor. Nothing to be afraid of, just letting you know," I told Eric, trying not to let my nervousness show. I turned around, sliding my ranger card through the panel on the gate. It creeked while opening, and I stepped through, motioning for Eric to follow.

The gate slammed shut behind us, and I looked to the sky. Gleam was still hovering, so we seemed safe for now. We walked up to the door of the manor, and I swung it open. A shadow jumped in front of us, and I flinched.

The shadow slowly took shape and form, becoming a ghost pokemon with yellow and white lines. I recognized it as a Dusknoir. The Dusknoir held its hand out, then talked using its telepathy. "LEAVE NOW THEIVES" The Dusknoir roared.

I turned to Eric. "You wanna try to reason with it or battle?" I asked.

    @Kantomasta;

Upon seeing myself, my ranger shook my hand, and introduced himself.

"I'm Damian, I'll be your ranger for this run. I'm also required to let you know there are rumors of poachers in the Manor. Nothing to be afraid of, just letting you know," he said. I thought it was odd that there had been poachers, but then again nothing really surprised me anymore. I had heard about poachers back in the old days, and it had been some time since I last came to the park. I didn't think much of it though, because if we ran into any poachers, well, Chandelure could deal with them.

We entered the park, and almost instantly my first challenge presented itself. It was a relatively rare Pokemon to see in the park. Well rare in the sense of the form it was in. It was a Dusknoir, which was the final evolved form of a Duskull. I've dealt with various Dusknoir before in battle, and I know that they aren't so much powerful, as they are tricksters, and play defensive. Not exactly what I was looking for.

It seemed to talk using telepathy, but I wasn't paying all that much attention to it, as I was more concerned fiddling around with my items, so I could find just what I was looking for to deal with this.

"You wanna try to reason with it or battle?" Damien asked.

"No thanks, fully evolved Pokemon don't usually appeal all that much to me," I replied to him.

"Ah ha, there is is," I said as I found what I was looking for.

"First thing is first, let me get this thing away," I said, stopping my PokePlayer, and putting it away for now. Since I didn't encounter a Litwick this way, I figured I'd try again in a little bit, and see if one stumbled my way.

"I'll deal with it this way," pointing at my camera to Damien. I knew a picture of Dusknoir would be worth some money, due to its far less than common encounter rate.

I got ready to take it's picture, but then thought to myself if you could even capture ghosts on film, but I just proceeded to shrug my shoulders and snap its picture anyway.

OOC:Basically, if you choose to, youll battle the guy and catch the baby

Eric took out his camera and aimed it at the Dusknoir. He must of not heard the pokemons warning. He clicked the button and the small room was instantly illuminated. The Dusknoir stumbled backwards, dissapearing into the shadows. I had to smile at thisbug, mighty pokemon being scared by a flash.

I led Eric through a couple of rooms with no pokemon. I was beggining to get dissapointed at the lack of pokemon. We went up a set of stairs and I heard a crash in a nearby room. Slamming the door open, I saw a crazy sight.

A man in a black jumpsuit type outfit had a poor wolf like pokemon backed into the corner. It wasa baby Poochyena.

The man turned towards Eric and I. "You two leave and nobody gets hurt," the man calmly said, releasing a Poochyena he already owned. I turned to Eric, "Want me to call in backup or do you want some practice?" I aaked Eric.

    @Kantomasta;

Dusknoir took a few steps back after the picture lite up the room we were in, and disappeared back into the shadows. I suppose that the Ghost-type wasn't all that use to bright flashes of light, which would make sense. Didn't matter that much to me, as I got out of that without any conflict. Plus I'd get some money for that picture, and that just made it all sweeter since I didn't even pay to enter the park.

We started to go through some rooms, and there was no sight of any Pokemon. It was kind of odd, but I hadn't lost any hope, I mean I'd just started my journey through here. Besides I figured the kind of Pokemon that resided here would be the kind to keep in hiding, at least until they felt like coming out to battle, or maybe cause trouble.

We headed up a flight of stairs, and on our way up them we had heard a crash in a nearby room, so we'd went to check it out. I figured it was just a Pokemon playing around or something, but once we got into the room we saw an unusual sight to say the least. There was a man in a black jump suit, with a Poochyena backed into a corner behind him.

"You two leave and nobody gets hurt," the man said to use, at which time Damian turned to me and said, "want me to call in backup or do you want some practice?"

My initial thought was that I would hit the man several times with a chair, but then I noticed there weren't even any chairs around to use. I thought to myself that I'd need to talk to some of the higher ups in the charge of the park to add stuff like that, but that was an issue for another time.

"I don't have any desire to deal with this man, so call in some backup. As for the Poochyena, if we can't get away from it, I do have a nice Pokedoll it can play with," I'd said. I figured if nothing else the little guy would enjoy the toy to play with.

Eric said he did not want to deal with the man, and he had a pokedoll for the baby if it needed it. I grabbed a pair of pokeballs off my belt and tossed them into the air, revealing a large, fiery monkey and a larger wolf. Infernape and Mightyena.

"Infernape, hold the man until more rangers arrive, and Mightyena will you take these two," I told my pokemon. Moving extremely fast, Infernape grabbed the man and held him to the wall while Mightyena stepped forward. Tte man"s Poochyena growled, but Mightyena jist bit the scruff of its neck and held it while laying down next to the baby.

I reached into my bag and grabbed a small, one button gps unit. I clicked the button and set it down next to Mightyena. It would allow the other rangers to find the theif easier.

I walked out of the room, with Eric behind me. Going back to the front room, I turned to him. "So, where do you want to go next? We can continue around inside or head outside and look around," I explained.

    @Kantomasta;

My ranger took action to deal with the man who was standing here. He sent out an Infernape, as well as a Mightyena to keep the man in the area, and also to have the Poochyena watched over respectively. I guessed until the other rangers showed up these two would be left there. It didn't matter now though, I was mostly just looking for something to battle.

"So, where do you want to go next? We can continue around inside or head outside and look around," Damian turned to me, and said.

I looked at Ambipom, and replied. "I think we'll continue looking around inside, to see if anything manages to catch my interest," I'd answered.

I figured I could just hang around inside for now, and see what would come my way. Surely something would show up, and if not something I'd want, then I still always had another four uses with my Litwick Voice Disc to try.

Eric decided he wanted to stay inside the house, which bugged me because that meant there was more chances to encounter theives. Oh well, whatever the trainer wants I guess.

I led Eric through a couple of rooms, and still didnt see very much. Turning to Eric, I tried explaining what I believed was going on. "All the pokemon seemed to be spooked due to the theives. Surely something will come out soon," I said. I led Eric down a hallway, and heard a bang to my right. Jumping backwards, I noticed it was a door that was slammed open. A human-like figure stood in the door.

It shot out a psycic beam, narrowly missing me. The light of the beam allowed me to see the pokemon, it was a Drowzee. Turning to Eric, trying to stay calm, I said, "You want to battle it? If not we may have to literally run."

    @Kantomasta;

We continued along the way, going through a few rooms, not seeing anything. It was pretty boring, but these things happen, and Pokemon aren't always run into right away. Who knows, maybe that Dusknoir from early let other Pokemon know of the camera, and its light. I laughed to myself at the thought of that, but hey you never know anything was possible.

"All the pokemon seemed to be spooked due to the theives. Surely something will come out soon," Damian told me.

That didn't really bother me, I mean if poachers were going to be a major problem, then I probably wouldn't be around too long. Only time would tell what would happen though.

Suddenly we had hear a bang, and a door flew open. It was a small Pokemon, with a small trunk, who was a mix of yellow and brown in color; it was a Drowzee. It shot out an attack our way, though it had missed all of us, including Ambipom. Whether it was this Drowzee's intention to miss us or not I didn't know, but I knew what I was going to do before Damian even asked me.

"All the pokemon seemed to be spooked due to the theives. Surely something will come out soon," he asked.

"No thanks, absolutely no desire to capture this thing. If I can't get away from it, I am ready with a Pokedoll in hand," I said, as a I grabbed a Pokedoll just in case.

"Also, I suppose I'll give this a try again," I said, as I pulled out my PokePlayer once more, and begun playing my Litwick Voice Disc.

Eric said that he had no desire to even get near the Drowzee, and I couldnt blame him. Even if you got past it's atrocious looks, Drowzee's mediocre stats made it a downright bad pokemon. Eric also statec that he would like to use his voice disk again. Pulling it out, he hit play on the small metal device.

A ghostly screech arised from the contraption, and Drowzee stumbled bahkwards at the sound. Catching his balance, the psychic pokemon became furious, stamping its feet and staring at Eric.

Eric was prepared however, as he threw a pokedoll at the enraged Drowzee. The pokemon caught the small doll, and just stared at it, as if lost in thought.

"Well, I guess that means we can continue," I said , opening another door. As I did, a small figure burst into the room. It was a small candle pokemon, a Litwick. Turning to Eric, I smiled. "Well, looks like your disc worked," I stated.

IC: We were unsuccessful in getting away from Drowzee. The little creature wanted to be stubborn, and not let us pass, as sometimes Pokemon in the park acted that way, but after my first trip to the park way back I knew to always come prepared. This was why I tried to come to the park with at least ten Pokedolls, so I had an ample amount to get away from some of the Pokemon I'd encounter, if needed, and keep trying to find things I wanted.

I threw one of my Pokedolls at Drowzee, who had seemed angry. It caught the doll, and it seemed to just be lost in thought as it just stared at the doll. It was kind of creepy, to be honest. But nonetheless we were done with it, and we could get going.

"Well, I guess that means we can continue," Damian said, as he went and opened up another door.

Upon opening the door, a small Pokemon came forward. It was incredibly familiar, as I had one of them on me right now, as well as its final evolved state. It was a Litwick, which meant the sound of my Voice Disc managed to attract it here. Litwick resembled a little candle. Its body was really all white in color, and it was basically wax all over. Only one eye was visible, as the other was covered. It's one visible eye was yellow. It had two stubby arms, and a flame on the top of its head, which was purple in color.

"Well, looks like your disc worked," Damian said towards me.

"Yeah, it seems so," I replied. I really had no clue what I would do with another Litwick. If I would keep it as a playmate for my own Litwick, or evolve it into a Chandelure, and use it for battles like my other one. First thing was first though, and that was capturing the one right now.

"Heh, well I suppose this calls for the only appropriate course of action. That being using my own Litwick!" I said, as I threw the Pokeball of my Litwick in the air, who came out of the ball, and landed on top of my head. My Litwick was definitely a playful one, but she could also go out there and do battle as long as the opponent was manageable.

"Alright, Litwick, you see that one over there? It's your opponent. I'm gonna need you to go battle it. I want you to start off with a Safeguard, and then follow up with a Shadow Ball," I'd told her, as she got off my head and ready for battle. It had been a long time since I've had a battle in the park, and so I was itching to get going.

I probably didn't need to have her use Safeguard, but it was better safe than sorry. Safeguard would protect Litwick from status moves, such as Confuse Ray, and Toxic. I wasn't exactly that worried about said moves, but I do know that these kinds of Pokemon could be tricky, and it was better to be prepared for anything. Plus I just really liked the way Safeguard looked when it was used.

As for Shadow Ball, well, I didn't need to start with a powerful move like that one, but my past experiences in the park have always led me to see that generally at first, unless you do something completely unexpected, most Pokemon know to expect something that would hurt them, and brace themselves while they are still completely healthy. The move itself was, as it sounded, essentially just a shadowy ball. Not much different than Sludge Bomb really, short of ghostly energy taking hold of the move, over poison. I'd never met Litwick vs another Litwick in battle, so it was pretty interesting to see what was going to unfold.

Eric sent out his own Litwick, and I had to laugh. This battle would be strictly tactics, as it was two of the same species battling. Eric commanded his Litwick to use Safeguard, then follow it up with a Shadowball.

The candle pokemon gathered energy and made a barrier in front of itself. While the barrier wouldnt protect against any damaging moves, it would protect from status moves. Erics Litwick immediately followed it up by gathering a ball of energy, but the wild Litwick was faster. The wild gathered energy, making a barrier of its own. Eric's Litwick, seeing its chance, released the ball of dark energy it had been gathering, shooting it towards the wild. The ball of energy hit this barrier and both shattered. Instead of using something long term, the wild Litwick just protected itself for that turn. I could see this being a smart tactic, as the wild would then be able to have more energy for later in the battle when it needed it.

Looking around the room, there was quite a bit either side xould use to their advantage. Because both pokemon were ghosts, they could hide inside of just about anything. Their was a desk, two chairs, and even an old tv in the corner for them to use.

I finally looked to Eric, wondering what he would do next.

    @Kantomasta;

The battle had gotten underway at last, the greatest battle in history, Litwick against Litwick. And it started off kind of unusual. I had my Litwick brace itself, and throw out an attack, but like I had thought would happen, the wild Litwick decided to conserve its strength for the long run, and had used Protect to negate any damage, and make Shadow Ball fail from reaching it. It was understandable, I guess, I mean Ghost-types weren't usually straight up battles, well except for maybe Gengar, without using any tricks. I thought I might need to be tricky to get through this battle, but I had wanted to see if I could get by without doing something like that first.

I looked around my surroundings to see if there was anything I could use to my advantage. I saw a desk, two chairs, as well as a tv. I didn't really think of using the chairs, unless I felt like sitting, because they didn't seem like they could really conceal the best. The desk was a pretty usable option, but thinking about the tv reminded me of how Rotom would sometimes hide inside of those, and since it was a Ghost-type I thought Litwick might be able to do the same. It was worth a shot anyway, as I was willing to try anything different, and interesting.

"All right, Litwick, you did well there, but now I want to try something different. Start off with a Double Team, and while your images are around, slip into that tv over there, then follow up with a Psychic," I commanded.

It was a simple enough plan. There were two different ways to look at the move. The first way was that the user would move at a fast enough speed when using Double Team to create some afterimages of themself. Whereas the other way of it would be that the move could be used to actually make a few clones of the user, but that would divide their speed and power by the amount of them. While, for example, four Pokemon attacking at the same time would be useful, it wasn't usually worth weakening the main one so much. Unless maybe it was a double battle, or the opposing Pokemon was a real troublemaker, but I didn't feel the need for it here. I was sure that the afterimages were fine for this, as the real plan was just for it to be a decoy.

Psychic was a simple enough move. The user would attack from a distance, by using telekinesis the user would either life the opposing Pokemon and toss them around, or toss something at them. In this case Litwick knew I just wanted her to toss the Litwick some, because throwing something at a ghost who could just pass through objects seemed to make relatively little sense.

I wondered what the opposing Litwick would do. I had battled several of them in the past, and they all seem to go about and do different things so I couldn't help but wonder what was going to come from this one. Either way though I had faith in my own that she could take whatever was thrown her way.

Litwick attacked Litwick. Then Litwick protected against Litwick. Then Lit-Ah, forget it. I was just gonna sit back and let Eric do his thing.

Eric looked around the room, seeing if there was anything he could use to his advantage. His eyes flicked from object to object, setling on the old tv in the corner. "All right, Litwick, you did well there, but now I want to try something different. Start off with a Double Team, and while your images are around, slip into that tv over there, then follow up with a Psychic," Eric said calmly to his pokemon.

The Litwick began dancing around the wild, leaving copies of itself. Once there were about six copies made, I noticed Litwick slide into the TV. The wild Litwick spun in circles, his eyes widening as he saw the barracade of enemies.

With a cry, the wild Litwick began releasing dark balls of energy towards the copies. They flew wildly, but enough managed to hit the copies that it destroyed them. A wildly shot ball ew towards me, missing my head by mere inches.

The Wild Litwick floated in the middle of the room, looking for Ebails litwick. The wild turned its back to the tv, and made a huge mistake by doing so. A purple beam shot out of the tv, hitting the wild in the back. The energy thrust it forward, and the wild turnec around quickly, still unsure of where the attack came from.

The battle continued to rage on, with neither side letting up, or taking much damage. There was points of the battle where I didn't even know what was really going on, because Litwick against Litwick was rather confusing. I had faced several Litwick though, and owned a few others besides the one I currently had, so I knew it's entire bag of tricks, and knew what could hit it hard, though that didn't mean I was going to blindly run in for another attack without trying to think up a strategy a bit more.

"Maybe I should have sent you in for this battle instead," I said to my Chandelure, who just gave me a look for thinking her baby couldn't handle this battle. I knew it could, but still Chandelure was more suited for battle than Litwick, but that didn't matter now because when I send a Pokemon in for battle, I like to stick with it until its all said and done, and one side or the other is no longer battling.

"Hmm, everything I've done thus far hasn't been all that effect, so I wonder what to try," I said to myself, as I realized I didn't really have any idea as to what I should do. Litwick had a small movepool, at least in comparison to her mother, but as a plus it meant that I at least knew that the other one did as well. "I could be a jerk, and go for Imprison but sealing off the battle for one side isn't any fun," I mumbled to myself.

I mean, I don't even like to use Protect unless I know it can turn the tide of battle in my favor. Especially when there was always a move like Encore out there, but at least I didn't have to worry about something like that during this battle. As a result of all my sidetracked thinking, I think that maybe I figured out what to do now, or at least I hoped so.

"Now, Litwick, start with a Taunt to hopefully get it to charge in to attack, and then shove it back with a Night Shade," I had calmly commanded.

This was all I could really think up right now, as I was short on ideas. Litwick wasn't a heavy hitter, but I did know it could hold its ground against other lower evolved forms. It was kind of simple, Taunt was like it sounded, a taunt. It would frustrate the opposing Pokemon to want to attack head on, instead of using a non damaging move, like Thunder Wave, or Swords Dance, if it were successful.

As for Night Shade, it was a damaging type move, which was good, though it wasn't like other moves. Its power would vary based on the strength of the user. The user would create a mirage that would frighten the opponent, and damage with that. It seemed more psychological to my than anything else, but I do suppose that's to be expected of a Ghost-type move.

If nothing else, I was at least hoping that maybe this could expose some kind of opening to attempt, or at least once again give me some time to think of another plan should this one fail. But I was hopeful that by the end of this battle I would capture this Litwick, because I did have faith in my own.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy stood with her arms crossed as Angelo helped Mike, their new full-time security, cuff the poacher Damian had tagged in. She crouched down to scratch underneath the small Poochyena’s chin—the Pokemon the thief had been attempting to make off with. Beside her, Damian’s Mightyena growled. Ivy patted its head.

“Thanks, Mike,” she called as the poacher was carted off.

He turned around, but due to the ever-present sunglasses on his face, she couldn’t really read his expression. He did, however, give her a thumbs up, so she waved them off.

Angelo brushed his hands off as he made to follow. “You got the rest here?”

Ivy nodded. “I’m gonna check out the place a little more. They usually come in pairs or trios. Or more,” she added, reluctantly. If anyone else was hiding where they shouldn’t be, she would find them.

Then, the beeper on her phone went off. She pulled up the screen and located Damian’s signal. Looks like he had pressed the button on his own phone navigation, a requirement ever since the first poacher break-in. It wasn’t the emergency call, but it did indicate that he had to go.

She waved the other Ranger off and trailed into the Manor, Damian’s Pokemon behind her. Eventually, the sounds of fighting echoed through the walls and she came upon a room that maybe had once been a study or family room of some sort. Bookshelves lined the walls, hence the study part, but there were also chairs, a desk, and a TV. Inside, a battle was raging. She found Damian near the doorway.

“Hey, Damian. I can cover for you,” she said as she nodded her head into the hall, signaling that he could leave. “Hey, Eric,” she greeted, seeing another familiar face. This Trainer had been through many times before.

She found that one of the Litwick was looking around the room, seemingly puzzled. Then, a beam shot out from the television, revealing that something was hiding there. It didn’t take long to discover that was Eric’s Pokemon, another Litwick.

“Now, Litwick, Start with a Taunt to hopefully get it to attack, and then shove it back with a Night Shade,” Eric said.

The wild ghost, even though it had been blasted by the Trainer’s Pokemon, seemed to still be a little lost—it still didn’t know where the attack had come from. That was odd, but Ivy figured if it was some sort of psychic blast, that might be why. Those types of attacks tended to cause mental strain, so it wouldn’t be that surprising if the wild Litwick wasn’t thinking very clearly.

Eric’s Pokemon started to make noise from the TV, calling out in a confident, despite semi-squeaky being the small Pokemon it was. It reminded the Ranger a lot of her own Chandelure, who often made bold proclamations like that because she wasn’t scared of much.

The noise caught the wild Pokemon’s attention, and as it turned, Eric’s Litwick fired off its own attack. The light suddenly went dark for a second, and then a shadow form of the ghost flashed out, gaining momentum and getting bigger as it stretched toward the wild ghost. The target’s eyes got wide, and it let out a sharp squeal of its own.

As the Night Shade washed over the wild Pokemon, it went tumbling backwards, but in the process, a blast from the wild Litwick shot out. An attack was literally scared out of it.

This one resembled the Night Shade but was a lot smaller in nature. It also resembled the form of the Litwick more in an eerie, transparent shape. It shot out a lot faster than the other attack.

The Astonish flew straight into the TV, and since Eric’s Litwick had to make itself visible in order to perform its attacks, it was in range. The blast hit the Trainer’s Pokemon, making it tumble out the back side of the TV, in between the shelves and the box, semi-hidden from view.

Out on the main floor, the wild Litwick was starting to right itself, but it still looked a little dazed. This time, it knew where the other ghost had been, but when it glanced at the TV, it found nothing. Its head tilted to the side.

“You rattled it pretty good there,” Ivy said. “It seems it can’t get a good read on where your Pokemon is.” Maybe Eric could use that to his advantage.
