A sweet scent filled the air as Aleria approached the Botanical Gardens. She decided to walk to the gardens today, and that was a good choice for her. She was glad she did. The walk was nice, and she was able to get some fresh air in the process. Not that she needed it. Things at the Park were picking up, and she was able to get out more. It was great. This was what she'd wanted to see for some time now, and it was all finally happening.

Today's expedition would bring her through the Botanical Gardens. It was an area Aleria hadn't come to often, but it was one she always enjoyed because of the nice scents that filled the air. The Botanical Gardens was always the area that smelled nice, no matter what happened.

She stood just outside of the gates, taking a peek inside of the gardens. She could see the winding paths that would lead her and her trainer, a guy named Walaby, through the gardens. She could see the Pokemon that called this area of the Park home. Some of them glanced at her before scampering off to hide, and others paid no attention to her. Hopefully Walaby would be able to call at least one of these Pokemon a new friend.

Just then, a loud, piercing roar splits the still air, scattering any remaining Pokemon near the gate.
"HAAAAAAAAAAXXX!"
A large Haxorus comes stomping up the trail, clearly ignorant of the serene setting it just disturbed.
"Aww, come on now, Axel, was that really necessary?" A voice pipes up from behind the axe-faced dragon, and out steps a man wearing an olive sports-cap and a brown leather jacket. "You're gonna scare off all of your new friends, haha!"
"Hax..." the dragon sighs, turning his head aside in embarassment.
Another, smaller, yellow figure steps out from behind the Haxorus.
"Ampha!"
The Ampharos skips up to the trainer.
"Yep, that's right, Ampere. We're gonna try to find some new friends in the gardens up ahead. Oh, hey, speaking of which, that must be our Ranger for the trip. Let's head on over."
The trainer takes a step before stopping suddenly.
"Wait a sec. Where did Sam get off to? SAM!"
"trumBEAK!"
A blur flashes down through the trees before hovering in the air just in front of the trainer.
"Glad you could finally join us, Sam. Shall we get going then?"
The trainer leads the three Pokemon along the path and up to the gate to the gardens.
"Hello there! My name's Walaby. You must be our guide for our trip. Pleasure to meet you!"
Walaby extends his hand for the ranger to shake, grinning warmly.

Aleria heard the distant footsteps of a Pokemon stomping around, but she didn't think too much of it. Pokemon stomping was a frequent occurrence, and she wasn't sure if it was a trainer approaching or a wild Pokemon in the gardens. If it was a trainer, she was sure that they'd alert her to their presence.

And they did, but it wasn't for another few moments. She heard a young man speaking to her, and she turned. The guy's name was Walaby, and this was her trainer for the day. She took his hand and shook it. "Pleasure to meet ya. I'm Aleria, your Ranger for today."

She turned and unlocked the gate, pushing it open gently. She allowed Walaby and his three Pokemon to go in first, and she followed behind them, closing and locking the gate. "Anything in particular you're looking for? I might be able to guide you down the right path to find them."

She started to walk down the only path for the time being. If there was something in particular he was looking for, she'd lead him to it for him to hopefully find. If there wasn't, then she'd just lead him to her favorite spots with the hope he'd find something he liked. Aleria knew these gardens like the back of her hand. It was her favorite area of the Park, second to Mt. Deckbi, and she knew where the Pokemon liked to hide out at here. Finding them was a different story.

Walaby leads his party along behind Aleria. They march along the path, all three Pokemon gazing around in wonder at the beautiful scenery. They'd never seen a place so beautiful and colorful before.
"Yeah, actually. I was hoping to find a Castform. I heard that they sometimes wander around in these gardens, but I know it's a bit of a stretch. Ever since I was a kid, Castforms had always fascinated me. Being able to manipulate the weather to its advantage seems like an amazing talent, and training one of my own would allow me to learn more about it. Even if I can't find one today, though, I'd like to catch some more Pokemon for my team. Maybe a Tangela or some kind of Fairy type! Even just wandering the gardens would be great! The unexpected is what makes these adventures so much fun!"
Walaby laughs and adjusts his hat.
He looks behind him to check on his Pokemon, and stops suddenly.
"Ah, come on. Guys, where'd Sam go?"
Ampere gestures off to the left with an impatient look on his face.
Walaby looks over in the direction, and can see the Trumbeak alight on a tree branch and rear its head back.
"A a a a a! Sam, no! No pecking trees here! We can't damage the Park or they'll kick us out."
Sam tilts his head to the side, obviously confused that anyone would ban his favorite activity.
"Come on, fly on back here."
Sam reluctantly flies back to his trainer and the rest of the group.
"If we get kicked out, we won't get to find any new friends, and this will all have been for nothing. Make sure you stick with the group. If you get tired or bored, just let me know and I'll put you back in your Poke Ball."
"Trumbeak." caws the melancholy bird.
"Sorry about, that ma'am. Now, where are we off to to find a Castform?"

Castform, Tangela, and Fairy types were the goal for today. Well, Aleria could do just that. She knew exactly where those Pokemon resided in the Park. She just had to get to them. If they were there, Walaby could try to catch them. If they weren't, then he'd have to settle for something else. Castform and Tangela were specific, but Fairy types was broad enough that Aleria felt like she could guarantee finding at least one of those.

She chuckled as Walaby scolded his Trumbeak for pecking a tree. "No worries, it happens. I'm not gonna punish you over your Trumbeak pecking at a tree." Worse things had happened in the Park anyways. Earthquakes, fires...
a bird pecking at a tree was the least of her concerns.

Aleria did see something fall from the tree out of the corner of her eye though, and she walked closer to inspect it. It was a Seedot, dazed from its fall. It looked fine otherwise. It would probably have a small bump later, but it was nothing that wouldn't heal with some rest. She turned to Walaby. "Looks like your Trumbeak knocked a Seedot out of its hiding place though. You interested in trying to catch it? If not, it's fine. The Seedot should be fine, it's just dazed from the fall right now. I know where the Castform like to lurk, so I can take you to them." But first, the Seedot.

"Let's leave the little guy where we found him. We haven't gotten very far into the gardens yet. I'd like to see what more it has to offer."
Aleria nods and picks up the little Seedot. She places it gingerly back onto the tree, and it bounces along back up into the branches.
The group continues on down the path, twisting and winding through the maze of paths that make up the National Park Botanical Gardens. Walaby has long since lost track of where they were, but Aleria seems to know this place like the back of her hand.
Walaby walks along, obviously intrigued by the sheer volume of exotic plant-life surrounding him.
"So how'd all these plants get here? They don't seem like they could all be native from the same place. Were these part of the original settlement from that guy who found the island? It seems like this place in particular is much more well maintained than an abandoned island should be, even with all the rangers here. Did you guys restore it somehow?"

Aleria nodded. The guy had an understandable response. Seedot was his first encounter, and there were other Pokemon he had his eyes set on instead. Aleria went to pick up the Seedot, but it scampered off towards Walaby. She shrugged. Guess it was going to be a persistent little Seedot today.

They went down the path with the hopes that maybe the Seedot would stop following them, but whenever Aleria looked back, the Seedot was there. "Yeah, we brought some of them in. There's a group of gardeners that help maintain the plants here, but the rangers help too. Some of the plants here are from when the island was found though, yeah."

The Seedot behind them chirped, and Aleria turned to face it. "Looks like he's a persistent one. Usually Poke Dolls get them to go away if just walking away doesn't."

Walaby turns and leans down towards the Seedot.
"Hey there little guy. You wanna come with us? We're going to look for a Castform. Think you're up for that?"
The Seedot spins and nods up and down.
"Alright, buddy you are more than welcome to accompany us on our journey through the gardens. Just make sure you stay safe if we run in to any trouble. Ampere and Axel will make sure you don't get into any trouble, ok?"
The Seedot nods and turns to the dragon, clearly unfazed by the massive Haxorus, and waddles up to nuzzle Axel.
Axel seems a bit annoyed, but accepts the unwanted affection anyway.
The party continues on its way once more, now with a guest in tow.
"So, Aleria, what kind of habitat here can we find Castform? I could never really imagine what kind of environment a Castform would want to live in, but when I asked around, they said they could be found in these gardens. Do you know of any specific reason why they chose here of all places? Not that this isn't a lovely place to live, I just have no idea what a typical Castform habitat is."

The Seedot was glad to know that it was allowed to join them on their walk through the gardens. Though Walaby's Haxorus didn't seem too fond of the affection, Seedot was glad to give him some love anyways.
With the love shared, the group carried on, with Seedot trotting behind them between Walaby's Haxorus and Ampharos.

"The Castform tend to lurk towards the back. There's a spot back there that lets them see the different weathers clearly so they can change form," Aleria said. Today, because it was so sunny out, they would be in their Sunny Form. "I'm not sure if it's their ideal habitat, or if they even really have one, but this is where they like to be, so this is where they live."

It didn't take them long to reach the spot where the Castform normally lurked. Unfortunately for them, there were no Castform there today. Aleria frowned. "Huh. Guess they must've wandered off. They're usually here." While there were no Castform, there was a black and yellow giraffe resting on a patch of grass in the clearing where the Castform usually made their home. Even the Seedot that had followed them to this point looked confused, as if it too recognized that this was where the Castform usually resided. "Maybe that Girafarig scared them off so it could take a nap there," Aleria said with a shrug. "You want to try and catch it? We can still try to find the Castform, though I'm not sure where they'd be if they're not here. Like I said, they're usually here."

Walaby considers the Girafarig, unsure if it would be worth the trouble.
"Hmm, I think we can leave it to its nap. I'm not super interested in bothering it."
Walaby turns towards the ranger.
"It's very unfortunate that the Castform are not here, though. You think we could search the surrounding area and check if they wandered somewhere near here? I don't imagine they'd wander too far from their favorite spot. You said that they were most likely in sunny form, so maybe we should check spots with lots of sunlight reaching down into the gardens. Do you know of any areas like that near here?"

Walaby had no interest in the Girafarig, and it didn't seem like the Girafarig had any interest in them either. In fact, the giraffe didn't even make any motion of moving from its current position. As they walked away,
the giraffe remained asleep. The Seedot still followed them, but they were able to continue on their path without the Girafarig.

"Yeah, we can try to find some other sunny spots. That spot is the most sunny, but there's others that are still good for gathering sunlight," Aleria said once they were far enough away from the Girafarig. She led Walaby to a couple other spots where the sun shone brightly, but there were no Castform nor any other Pokemon. It wasn't until they got to the second spot that they heard Pokemon crying out nearby. Aleria perked up at the sound of that,
but she deferred to Walaby for their next course of action. "You hear that? It sounded like Pokemon cries. We can go check it out if you want."

What the Pokemon cries were, she couldn't tell. It sounded as if a couple of Pokemon were just having a little fight, so it was nothing uncommon in the Park, nothing too serious either, but for all they knew, it could lead Walaby to the Castform he had his heart set out for.

"Yeah let's go check it out. I don't recognize any of the calls, but that's what makes it exciting right? Could be a Castform. You did say that this is a possible spot where they might go to hang out other than the first place. Let's go!"
The party heads over to the area where they heard the noise. The group trudges over, with the Seedot jumping over Axel's tail like a jump rope as it swings back and forth. He doesn't seem to have noticed yet, but Ampere clearly has and is failing to keep a straight face.
What an odd group.

Walaby wanted to go investigate the source of the Pokemon cries, so Aleria led him and his merry band of Pokemon towards it. The Seedot that still followed them jumped over the Ampharos' tail as if it were a jump rope. Aleria had to admit, it was a cute sight.

As they approached the source of the cries, she could hear the shuffling of Pokemon fleeing the area. Guess they figured they'd get in trouble when a Ranger saw them fighting with another Pokemon. That or the lone Roselia that remained in the field was strong enough to scare whatever was scaring it off. It didn't appear to be harmed, that was for sure. In fact, it looked as if it was itching for a fight. The Seedot trembled when it locked eyes with the Roselia. Even the little seed-like Pokemon was so terrified of the Roselia that it too scampered off.

"Guess even that Seedot's afraid of it," Aleria commented as she watched the Seedot run off. "Well, it's not a Castform, but maybe you'd be interested in this Roselia? It seems like it's a tough Pokemon, intimidating enough to scare off other Pokemon, that's for sure."
