    @Tychiel;

The time had come once again for me to do some kind of job, and take some kind of trainer through the National Park. I was tired though, and I heard there was a chance of rain today, but nonetheless I threw some cold water on my face, made a cup of coffee, and was getting ready to head to work. It was always fun seeing some trainer going through the park, going for stuff I didn't get the opportunity to go for myself since I was the ranger. Lucky folks.

"Hmm, what Pokemon should accompany me first?" I said to myself as I looked through my Pokemon, deciding what to have be out of its ball with me. "How about you this time around, Absol? At least that way I could ride on you there since you move pretty fast." With that I threw it's Pokeball in the air, grabbed my supplies, and hopped on Absol's back.

"And we're off," and to emphasize what I had just said, we were off to the main gate.

After about ten minutes we arrived at our destination.

"Thanks for the ride, Absol. You're free to stick around out of your ball and accompany me if you'd like," I said to Absol, who seemed happy about that.

"Hmm, lets see, seems we're going to the Sandy Beach. I never remember that area before...and I'm still angry about Outer Heavens!" I said, while looking at the information for this trip. I knew the trainer who was going through, and I knew he had a Water-type gym so I understood why he was going here.

"Ah well, nothing to do now but sit here, drink this cup of coffee, and wait."

As the shuttle approached the Park, I mentally ticked items on a checklist, my Pokeballs, the Park balls, items, an umbrella – in case of rain, either man made or natural -, it all seemed to be there. As I sighed with relief, I got up from my seat.

I was standing before the door, waiting for the train to stop, and while I watched the beautiful landscape I registered the cloudy sky. Rain was both good and bad, while my Pokemon enjoyed it so did all three of my main targets. Mirror B. would probably shine this run though being fast like nobody's business.

When the train stopped, I got out and entered the outpost, to be met with a nice receptionist that directed me to an Abra. In a flash, I was standing in a different outpost; in the distance I could see a man sitting, sipping some coffee with an Absol by his side.

So I freed Ludicolo from his ball and we walked there, the fresh air was a nice change from the usual smog of the city, “Hey!” I shouted as we got closer, “Are you ...” I paused to quickly read a slip of paper “... Ranger Eric?”

As I waited a reply, I got out the Disc Recorder - or Pokeplayer, whatever it was called - and a CD with the picture of a little starfish in it, may as well try to attract the Pokemon before they're aware I'm here.

"It feels like it's been hours," I said to myself, when in fact it was about fifteen minutes of waiting. I blamed the humidity. After that time of waiting, I had seen a trainer coming my way, with a Ludicolo. I took a guess that it was the trainer I would be taking through the park. Well either that, or someone looking for directions.

"Hey, are you" he said as he looked at a piece of paper, "Ranger Eric?" He'd finished saying.

"Yep, I am, or at least that's what I've been told anyway, and this is my Absol. I call her Absol," I said for no real reason.

"Uhh, anyway, I'm sure you're ready to get going, so let's take off and see what awaits you today," I had said, as I saw Harry take out his Pokeplayer, and play his Staryu Voice Disc.

We walked through the main gate, and I saw some sand, and water. I mean, I'm sure it was much more eye pleasing to someone else, but to me the beach was just sand and water, course I was a fall person myself. Looking around though, I would say that there was like 75% water to 25% sand, which made sense as this area was primarily home of water dwellers. There was more than enough land to walk along, and do battle on too, if needed.

"So Water gym leader huh? It any fun defending that?" I'd asked, because utter silence was kind of awkward.

As I waited for a response, I started to lead us down to the main body of water, and as we got closer I started to hear a noise, though it didn't sound like a Staryu to me. I went in a bit closer to get a look, and out of the water a jellyfish-like Pokemon poked its head out of the water, and look at us. It had a light blue body, with some large, transparent red crystals on its body. Like a jellyfish would normally have, this Pokemon had tentacles. And normal eyes, oddly enough.

"Have any interest in this Tentacool?"

We walked through the main gate, and I saw the floor shift from solid ground and grass to sand and water. I hated it with a passion, sand was so annoying. Although playing in the water or just goofing off while sunbathing could be fun. Regretfully I was there on business, and dealing with people on business, it wouldn't do to overstay my welcome.

"So Water gym leader huh? It any fun defending that?" asked the ranger, breaking through the silence.

Before I could answer, he started to go down the sand strip and as we got closer I started to hear a noise, though it certainly didn't sound like the Staryu recording. After Eric went a bit closer to check, a jellyfish poked its head out of the water, and looked our way. It was far too small to be a Tentacruel though, which was fine, they were a bit mean and could be hard to handle.

“Umm,” I said, trying to find the words to answer his question “It can be fun; it made me gain a new respect for the type. Not to mention there's a lot of variety to use.”

As I moved closer to the jellyfish, trying my best not to put it off, I gently said “I'm afraid I can't play with you now, I'm looking for some other mons and while I'd love to have a Tentacruel, I'm afraid I have other Pokemon higher up on the list. Maybe next time?”

And then, as an addendum “Oh, mister ranger, I can pay for a doll if necessary”

OOC: And the cd still playing for the next encounter.

I stood here looking at this Tentacool while I waited for Harry's decision as to what he wanted to do here. Tentacool was a pretty cool Pokemon, and kind of useful when it evolved, at least defensively anyway.

“I'm afraid I can't play with you now, I'm looking for some other mons and while I'd love to have a Tentacruel, I'm afraid I have other Pokemon higher up on the list. Maybe next time?” Harry replied.

I looked in Tentacool's eyes, and I could tell there would be no next time though. Mostly because if Harry ever came back here I doubt said Tentacool would be here. But that was an issue for another day. Probably. Regardless Tentacool gave us no trouble with getting by.

"Well that's that. How about we get in a boat, and see if we can't ride around in the water seeing if something shows up? I mean not very many Pokemon here would be accustomed to battling on land as if they were owned by a trainer," I said as I led Absol, and then myself into a boat that was in the water. I figured it wouldn't hurt for a few minutes to test out. Just to see if anything would come of it. And I didn't think it'd be such a big deal as Harry had Pokemon who could fair in the water easy enough if he were to have one battle.

We started to move around in the boat a bit, whilst I heard Harry once more play his Staryu Voice Disc. If nothing else it was a nice noise in the background to break silence.

After paddling around for two or so minutes, I saw something start swimming our way. Once it got closer I could see two fins out of the water, and instantly I knew what Pokemon it was. It started to circle around the boat without showing its face, but those yellow fins on its head was a dead giveaway. Especially given the fact that it was circling the boat, and that it evolved into a shark-like Pokemon. I didn't think Harry would want one of these, but as always I had to ask, and be ready just in case.

"Do you want this Carvanha that is swimming here?"

After paddling around for two or so minutes, the ranger stopped, presumably because he spotted a Pokemon. After a while two fins could be seen, popping out of the water, swimming in a circular fashion around our boat. It was obviously a Carvanha … which was odd, when I stopped to think about it. They usually lived in schools.

Maybe it was because this is the park, things had a way of being different around here. Quickly, I turned to the ranger and said “I already have a Sharpedo, so I don't really have an interest on catching a Carvanha. Can we move on? If needed, I'll pay for a doll”

OOC: Disc running for next encounter too, please.

“I already have a Sharpedo, so I don't really have an interest on catching a Carvanha. Can we move on? If needed, I'll pay for a doll,” Harry said to me after my question some moments ago.

"Well then away I send this boat," I said in reply, of course before we even started to move, the Carvanha swam around the boat another three times, and then decided to take off, obviously pursuing other interests. Or it just got bored. Either way though it was time to move once more.

"Huh, it looks like maybe we will get some rain today after all," I said as the any blue in the sky was now blocked out by clouds. Though naturally I wasn't entirely sure if it was actually going to rain, or if it was just going to stay cloudy, as you never knew what was going to happen for sure when it came to the weather.

We moved around for like another five minutes or so, and I kept checking around to see if Harry's Voice Disc was working, or not. While looking I saw something floating in the air, which I knew right around wasn't a Staryu as they don't float. As we got closer I noticed what it was, and I had to say it was a treat seeing one of these. It was completely blue in color, and it had a relatively small body. It also had some kind of antenna. These things always seemed incredibly playful, or at least so I've been told as I've never seen one before. Either way though I knew this was rare, even to the point where it had been considered a Legendary at times.

"Well look at that, it's a Phione. These are incredibly rare you know, in fact the only time I remember one being caught in the park a Master Ball was used. It'd take some time for sure, but did you want to battle this thing?" I asked.

We kept moving around for like another five minutes or so, in the deep blue water. It was a rather soothing experience, if I didn't have a thing to do it'd be the perfect place for a nap. While the ranger looked around, looking for a Pokemon, I fiddled with the poke player.

But soon I was stopped, hearing the ranger say "Well look at that, it's a Phione. These are incredibly rare you know, in fact the only time I remember one being caught in the park a Master Ball was used. It'd take some time for sure, but did you want to battle this thing?”

I stopped what I was doing to look at the Pokemon, the blue clione, while small wasn't necessarily weak, and it was rare so even if I didn't quite enjoy training it I could trade it for something else later. “I think I'll try” I said to the ranger.

As my Ludicolo jumped into the water, clearly enjoying the environment much more I sent a quick command “Since it's not expecting us let's use Fake Out to give it some chip damage and time so you can swim as fast as you can around it, to trap him in a whirlpool!”

Harry seemed to be giving this battle a bit of thought before deciding if he wanted to go at it or not. Made sense as any battle in the park would take some thought...well unless it was against something like a Caterpie. I mean just set the damn thing on fire, it's a Caterpie what's it gonna do?

“I think I'll try,” Harry said, showing some kind of interest in this thing. “Since it's not expecting us let's use Fake Out to give it some chip damage and time so you can swim as fast as you can around it, to trap him in a whirlpool!” Harry commanded his Ludicolo to do.

Was a simple enough battle starter, use Fake Out to get Phione to flinch, and then trap it within a Whirlpool so it would suffer some extra damage slowly. Course that didn't necessarily mean it would work out that simply.

Ludicolo swam over, but despite Phione's playful nature it knew a battle was about to go down given the way it saw Ludicolo coming towards it. Ludicolo stuck out its hands to slap the Phione between them, but Phione tried to take advantage of its ability to float, and went to fly away to avoid said attack, however one of its legs was still caught, resulting in some damage, albeit minimal.

Despite it not flinching, as the attack didn't hit dead on, Ludicolo still took the opening it saw, and went to swim around Phione. It was going around it at a good pace, however Phione was prepared, and as Ludicolo was going around it, Phione spun around in the same area to create its own Whirlpool to act like a shield against Ludicolo's. It was rather impressive, though it did send a good deal of excess water being splashed our way. Absol didn't seem to mind, as she just shook it off like a dog would, but despite that I felt soon I might need to send out a Flying-type and have us get on its back so we could distance ourselves from this battle.

Phione seems to not be getting serious yet, and is still trying to play around, or is scouting out Ludicolo's moves to see what it does. Its either very cleaver, or just looking to have a lot of fun, I thought to myself.

    OoC: Sorry for the delay. Life was kinda hectic and then I just kinda ... forgot about this ... Sorry once more @Ebail;

Ludicolo swam over, but wasn't quite inconspicuous enough. Phione had seen it and managed to swim mostly out of the way, taking only a small fraction of the brunt. Now, I thought, Phione's playful nature acted as a front, and quite frankly was a disadvantage to me. There'd likely be no tangible way to gouge how well I'm going in this battle.

While I assessed the situation, Ludicolo continued to follow his orders and started to swim around the Phione, it however just started to spin the other way and create a rotation that nullified the angular movement. Shooting some water at us; I didn't particularly care – you can't go to the beach without expecting to get wet – but the ranger didn't seem quite so happy.

I gave a quick glance to the area, it was mostly just sea as far as the eye went and Ludicolo wasn't exactly the best choice for the battle. While it had the type advantage it was used to being able to move freely in land, most of his physical attacks and set-up moves wouldn't work as well while swimming while Phione – who had a field day on the sea, wouldn't appreciate having to fight on dry land. So I decided on a couple of orders “Since this is obviously a smart opponent, let's try to avoid just charging through, for now let's use Ice Beam to make a platform and then let's do a merry battle jig for Swords Dance.”
