    Ranger Makina Auran

    *~~~~~~~~~*

    <You're doing what?>

For what felt like the fifth time today, Makina slowly counted to five before responding to her partner, “For the last time, Aria, we're heading to the Ruins. I saw the request posted on the board while turning in the paperwork from the last Run, so I snagged it right away.”

<Didn't we just help another Trainer there a few days ago? Besides, you just got back from another Run not even two hours ago,> Aria replied, the Gardevoir crossing her arms in irritation.

And here comes the hard part, Makina thought to herself. Even though the main outpost was practically deserted compared to the way it usually was during the day, she saw that a couple curious people were watching the current spectacle going on between Ranger and Gardevoir. Maybe she should have waited until she had entered her office before talking to Aria. “That's the thing... we're taking the same Trainer. Apparently Eric couldn't wait to re-enter, and since we're so dead they went ahead and processed his Run request right away instead of scheduling for another day.”

For a moment, Aria appeared at a loss, opting to just give her partner a disbelieving stare as her eyes widened. Finally, she seemed to find words as she coldly replied, <I'm staying here, then.>

“Fine, I'll use someone else. Can you at least give me a quick Teleport there?” Makina knew any better to argue with the Gardevoir for now, and she was starting to get uneasy as more people were beginning to watch the debate. She would probably get an earful for arguing with her partner later in front of potential customers, so it was probably best to just wrap it up. “You can leave right away, I'll just use Pierrot as a partner this time around.”

<Why you keep that Banette around I'll never understand,> Aria remarked, rolling her eyes. <Just because he was a gift from that strange friend of yours...>

“That's enough muttering from the peanut gallery,” Makina muttered. Thankfully, Aria didn't continue on her tangent and opted to begin her Teleport instead. Moments later, the two materialized just outside of the Enigma Ruins main gate to wait on their Trainer to arrive.

"Unlimited power!" I yelled, as I ran, and jumped out of the window of my house. I'm not that stupid, I had this all planned. Dragonite caught me on its back, and was going to be my means of transportation for now. Yeah, I could have used the stairs like a normal person, but jumping out of a window is much, much more fun. I had everything I needed for this trip. My bag full of various items, most of which besides the balls wouldn't be used. Three different Pokemon, one of which was the Dragonite that I am currently on. Food of course, namely a few sandwiches. Like six bottles of water to quench any thirst I might have. And, most importantly, pants. Wouldn't been weird going through the park without pants.

I was going somewhere different today. The Enigma Ruins. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to go looking for, so I figured why not head out to the place where I could end running into any Pokemon that might come my way to begin with. It didn't matter what came my way, I was just hopefully that I could find at least one thing I'd want. A Flying-type that I didn't own yet would be pretty good, but I wasn't gonna get my hopes up.

Dragonite got me to the front gate, where I jumped off of his back from a few feet in the air, and landed on the ground. I turned my head, and found who my ranger was going to be almost instantly.

"Ahh, you again, huh? What are you stalking me, or something?" I said, as I chuckled a little, to show I was merely making a jest. "Well, I'm ready to do this whenever you are Makina."

    Ranger Makina Auran

    *~~~~~~~~~*

It wasn't long before Eric showed up, though not in a fashion either Aria or Makina had been expecting. Rather than exiting from the nearby Outpost, or even arriving by Teleport, he dropped down from the sky itself. While Aria took an involuntary step back, shocked by the strange entrance, Makina looked upwards instead, making out a large dragon-like shape not far above them.

As Eric stood up, he turned around and faced Makina. “Ahh, you again, huh? What are you, stalking me or something?” he said with a small laugh before waving off his own comment. “Well, I'm ready to do this whenever you are, Makina.”

<Lovely. Well, I'm heading back.> Aria stated blandly, giving Eric a baleful glare. Moments later, she Teleported from sight.

“Overreacting as always,” Makina muttered to herself, retrieving a Pokeball from her belt to summon her Banette instead. As the Ghost-type took form, she looked over at the waiting Trainer and Dragonite. “Don't mind Aria. Apparently she's convinced that you're going to destroy everything in a mile radius around you eventually, and doesn't want to be anywhere close when that happens,” the Ranger explained. With this done, she walked over to the large stone gate and began to input the code needed to open the door.

By this time, Pierrot was fully out of his Ball and now curiously looking about the area. Even though the Banette had heard of the Ruins before, he had never seen them firsthand until now. Seeing that the gate was still closed, he floated over to Dragonite instead and introduced himself.

As the door slid open with a loud grinding sound, Makina quickly directed everyone in before the device closed once more. Surprisingly, instead of being greeted to the normal sight of a stone passageway, the area opened up to a rocky cave, with a small pool of lava to their right. It was beside this pool that a small turtle-like creature was currently glaring at them impatiently, apparently eager to fight.

“I need to talk to one of the scientists about checking the timers in this area.” Makina said, frowning at the nearby wild Pokemon. There was supposed to be a delay upon entering the area so both Ranger and Trainer had time to “set” themselves in place and prepare for any changes. Having the gate open and immediately enter a new area was dangerous to say the least. “Either way, interested in a Torkoal?”

We walked in all casual like. Stuff happened, as it usually does. And I ended up running into my first Pokemon here in only a matter of moments. It was just a standard Fire-type, that really didn't offer anything special, aside from aiding to a collection. Though, I wasn't collecting Fire-types, or Pokemon I would never use.

"Nah, I don't really want this Torkoal," I said to Makina. I hoped that this first encounter wouldn't set the tone for the whole run, but hey you never know. Especially when you go to a place like the ruins, when you can run into any, and every Pokemon that was in existence.

"Let's just try to escape from it. If we can't though, I made sure to have enough Pokedolls on hand, so that I wouldn't need to purchase on of the ones from you."

“Nah, I don't really want this Torkoal,” Eric replied, looking away from the wild Pokemon disinterestedly. “Let's just try to escape from it. If we can't though, I made sure to have enough Pokedolls on hand so that I wouldn't need to purchase one of the ones from you.”

Makina nodded back, hardly surprised by Eric's decision. Torkoal was one of the many Pokemon out there that both didn't have a lesser form or evolve at all. Add that to the fact that there were many Fire-types out there, it meant that mainly only collectors or those who liked possessing uncommon Pokemon even thought about going after the turtle-like creatures. Thankfully, after seeing that no one wished to battle it, Torkoal simply walked away, albeit a bit annoyed at being ignored.

With Torkoal out of the way, they were able to step further into the Ruins. There was a wide tunnel close to the lava pool, so Makina opted to head down there first. After traveling around fifty feet or so, she noticed something odd; the scenery had not yet changed, which meant there was still a Pokemon hiding about or they were being followed.

Moments later, a loud cry echoed off the cave walls, and a small Pokemon quickly came into sight up ahead as it ran their way. The creature was yellow in color, with a smattering of green along the large hump it had on its back. What made the sight even stranger was the creature appeared to be completely soaked- Deckbi had few if any large water sources, and this was particular Pokemon wasn't likely to willingly enter one.

“Numel, dead ahead,” Makina said, watching the wild Pokemon carefully. She wasn't sure if it was trying to charge them or run away from something, but she seriously hoped it wasn't the former. Numel weren't exactly dangerous compared to the other wildlife in the area, but if it tried to attack without warning something would have to be done. “Whether you want to fight it or just let it run past, you might want to make a decision quickly.”

“Numel, dead ahead,” Makina said. Before I ended up getting a chance to answer to her, she said, “whether you want to fight it or just let it run past, you might want to make a decision quickly.”

At that point, I thought to myself, hey, I'll take all the time I want. Except in this case, I knew my answer before she even pointed out what the Pokemon was to begin with. Numel was pretty common, and Camerupt wasn't that good. Found it weird that I encountered a second Fire-type in a row, especially since I had just been at Mt. Deckbi, but hey that was how this worked.

"Completely uninterested in this thing. Let's try to get away again, and should it fail I've still got a Pokedoll ready," I replied. Didn't know what was going to come my way next, but it would certainly take a lot for it to be worse than a Numel.

    Ranger Makina Auran

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Eric's reply was immediate. “Completely uninterested in this thing. Let's try to get away again, and should it fail I've still got a Pokedoll ready,” he said, looking slightly irritated about something.

Seeing that there was no crevice in the wall or a side tunnel ahead, Makina motioned for Eric to mimic her and lean against the wall. With any luck, Numel was simply trying to pass by instead of trying to ram everything in its path. Granted, the Fire-type was fairly small anyways and it would likely bounce back rather than hurt anyone, but it was still best to simply clear the path for what was clearly a distressed Pokemon.

Unfortunately, as soon as Numel approached the two it stopped its charge, glaring at the humans. Sure enough, the creature was soaked in water and shivering slightly. It was clear that it was not going to move unless something either changed its mind or it was made to move. Seeing this, Makina accepted a Doll from Eric and handed it to the wild Pokemon. Upon seeing the toy, it picked up the plush in its mouth and promptly ran away.

The Ranger paused a few moments, waiting to see if the area would finally shift now that Numel was out of sight. When nothing appeared to change in the least, she began to worry. First the sudden entrance to an area, now everything seemed locked in place. Something was definitely wrong. “Sorry for the wait. Let's continue on,” Makina said to Eric, leading the way forward.

The tunnel curved and winded in a few areas, making it seem as if they were going in circles, but eventually straightened out to an open area. What it revealed, however, made it clear that things in the area were indeed malfunctioning. While half of the room still held the same volcanic rock and warm air that surrounded them still, the other half had a sandy floor and pools of water dotting the room, with fog covering the middle of the area as the two conflicting climates hit each other.

Currently there was a Torchic running about in the volcanic area, letting out confused chirps as it looked towards one of the pools towards the outer edge of the fog. Another Pokemon, currently obscured by the mist, was saying something in return, sounding distressed. When the Torchic made to run away, a small squirt of water appeared from the fog and landed on the Fire-type with remarkable accuracy. Now clearly afraid, Torchic dashed towards the closest wall on the volcanic side, huddling against it.

“Pierrot, head over to that Torchic and let it know about that lava pool we passed earlier,” Makina spoke lowly to her partner, earning a happy nod from the Banette before it floated over to the small Pokemon. With that done, she walked closer towards the pool where the attack had come from. The fog lifted just enough to make out a blue shape in the mist, with a very noticeable seahorse-shaped head and spiked fins. “Definitely a Seadra. They're pretty rare, care to go for it?”

    @Akinai;

We weren't able to get away from the Numel, without using the expense of one of my precious Pokedolls. Those cost me money, so I didn't like that. But regardless, we got away from it, and I could now focus on other things. What other things? Well, one of something else had shown up pretty quickly after.

It was a blue, Water-type Pokemon, that kinda reminded you of a dragon. “Definitely a Seadra. They're pretty rare, care to go for it?” Makina asked.

"Well, Seadra is kinda rare, you're right. Though, I already own a Kingdra myself, and I can't really think of anyone who would be interested in one, that I could trade with, so I think I'm going to need to pass here. Same deal as always. If I can't run, I'll just spend one of my Pokedolls," I said. I was pretty tempted to face it, but it just didn't seem that worth it to me in the long run.

“Well, Seadra is kinda rare, you're right,” Eric began, mulling over the thought a little before finally shaking his head. “Though, I already own a Kingdra myself, and I really can't think of anyone who would be interested in one that I can trade with. So, think I'm going to need to pass here. Same deal as always.”

Both Ranger and wild Pokemon stared at Eric blankly upon hearing his response, the former surprised and the latter stunned to see that they were brushed off so easily. Fortunately, rather than retaliate with violence like it had done before with Torchic the Seadra simply sank back into the water. It almost appeared to be sad to see that it was being left alone, but wasn't willing to force the matter.

“Well, that was simple enough.” Makina shrugged, and headed towards one of the outer pools. While the large body of water in the center of the room was likely the deepest, the fog surrounding it was still too thick to discern if anything else was hiding within. On the way towards the far side of the room though, a small dark blue Pokemon hopped in their way. It appeared sullen, much like the Water-type they had just passed- it was obvious to see that it wasn't just the Deckbi residents that didn't care for this climate change in the least.

“Normal-type or not, this Azurill must hate the heat. Were you interested in one, or would you like to help it out instead?”

Seadra was wise, and gave me no trouble. It knew I just wanted to leave it alone, and as such it didn't cause me any fuss. It probably wanted to take a nap itself. Though, without much time passing by, another Pokemon came around. It was a small blue Pokemon.

“Normal-type or not, this Azurill must hate the heat. Were you interested in one, or would you like to help it out instead?” Makina asked.

I thought about it for a second, and I have to say I wasn't interested in one. I could have helped it out, but I wouldn't know how without picking it up, and carrying it away. Though that could have ended bad.

"Nah, I'll leave this thing be. Sure, it's a Normal-type, but it does become a Water-type, so it's probably its natural instincts making it dislike the heat. Let's see if we can get away without causing any fuss or not. Otherwise I have the doll all ready to go."

“Nah, I'll leave this thing be,” Eric replied. Before walking away, he explained his reasoning. “Sure, it's a Normal-type, but it does become a Water-type so it's probably reacting to its natural instincts making it dislike the heat.”

Makina nodded in response, then looked down at Azurill. Fortunately, it didn't appear aggressive in the least. In fact, it seemed to be looking for help rather than a fight like most wild Pokemon who approach a Trainer. Granted, this also was far from a normal situation anyways. “Try to stay in one of the outer water pools,” Makina said somewhat apologetically to the baby Pokemon, pointing to one right against the far wall. Seeing that the Normal-type headed off immediately, the Ranger motioned for them to continue to the other end of the room.

The far tunnel, interestingly enough, seemed to have a guard waiting for them. The creature was midsized and had a mainly orange shade along the main part of its otter-like body, with a cream underside. It was currently standing on its hind legs, with its front paws crossed as it balefully watched the two humans approach.

“Interesting to see a Floatzel act as a sentry,” Makina remarked, looking over at Eric. “It may be watching to make sure no one causes trouble, or is simply trying to block our way.”

Azurill gave us no trouble either. It knew I didn't feel like helping it. Under normal circumstances, I would, but last time I did that for a Pokemon, I helped a Scraggy, and as a result, Ambipom got into a Screech battle with a Sneasel. That was pretty fun. Well, not so much for Makina.

We kept going, and then out came the next challenger. “Interesting to see a Floatzel act as a sentry. It may be watching to make sure no one causes trouble, or is simply trying to block our way,” Makina said.

This led me to think, I wonder how much trouble I'd get in if I ran over to kick it... because, hey it was another thing I didn't want, trying to get in my way, for whatever reason it had.

"Well, I dunno why it's here, but I don't care either. Let's go around. Pokedoll, naturally escaping, shaking my fist at it. Whatever works I'll do," I said, waiting for her to be ready.

OOC: Hope this was worth the wait. Once again, I promise there's a method to this madness.

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Eric, surprisingly, appeared irritated more than anything else to see the Floatzel in his way. “Well, I dunno why it's here but I don't care either. Let's go around, Pokedoll, naturally escaping, shaking my fist at it... Whatever works, I'll do.”

Pierrot, who had finished his task of guiding Torchic, had somehow sneaked his way back into the group. peering over behind his partner's shoulder at the nearby Trainer, the Banette tilted his head in confusion. After a moment's thought, he floated over to the nearby Floatzel and began conversing with it.

Makina watched the Banette in action, making sure that Floatzel wasn't trying to be aggressive. When she saw that all that was going on was Pierrot apparently asking the Water-type just why it was blocking the path, she quickly slipped out her cell and sent a quick message to the main Outpost about the current situation in the Ruins. With any luck it was an easily fixed issue with the transporters and would be fixed within the day, and the area would not have to be temporarily closed off.

A few minutes later, Floatzel and Pierrot had seemingly come to an agreeable conclusion. Both Pokemon stepped forward, with the former abandoning his post and walked over to Eric. Tugging on the Trainer's sleeve, the Sea Weasel Pokemon then pointed over to the large lake in the center of the room behind them.

“So what did Floatzel have to say?” Makina asked Pierrot, the Ghost-type simply rolling his eyes and pointing over at the body of water as well as if to say Just wait and see.

For a few silent moments, nothing appeared to change in the water. Suddenly, Floatzel let out a sharp bark, calling out to someone. There was the slight sound of water trickling as something rose up from the water, and a large figure slowly emerged from the fog and approached them. While its body was serpentine, the blue and occasional pink scales adorning its body along with its elegant form made it almost the polar opposite to yet another well-known sea serpent Pokemon.

“A Milotic here, of all places?” This was an extremely rare find, but also promised a formidable battle. Makina looked over at Eric, curious to see what his decision would be.

    OOC: Nope, not worth it.

IC: We got away from the Floatzel, and were on our way again. I had to say that so far I was a little disappointed, but that couldn't be helped when you already owned a lot of things, and anything could come your way.

We got moving, but it wasn't long before the next Pokemon showed up. And this one was actually pretty rare.

“A Milotic here, of all places?” Makina remarked, waiting to see what I would decide upon.

Milotic was very rare. It was funny, because you would rarely encounter one in the Great Lakes, yet here I stumbled upon one like it was nothing. Still, despite it's rareness, I knew what I was going to do.

"Milotic is great, really. Though, it would be one heck of a battle, and that would normally be worth it, but I was left a Milotic to care for, so I don't really need a second one hanging around. I'll need to pass. But, rather than escape, I'll take a picture of this thing, so I can snag a bit of money," I said, as I pulled out my camera from my bag, to take its picture.

OOC: No worries, 45k is an insane hurdle.

    *~~~~~~~~~*

Eric stared at the nearby Water-type, appearing to pick his words carefully before speaking. “Milotic is great, really. Though it would be one heck of a battle and that would normally be worth it... I was left a Milotic to care for, so I don't really need a second one hanging around. I'll need to pass.” The Trainer then took out a small camera and took a snapshot of the creature, sealing the deal.

Makina gave a short nod, more than a little surprised to hear Eric's decision but understood where he was coming from as well. While it was always nice to find and capture your own teammates, there was always something special about receiving a Pokemon from a friend. The fact that it had been a Milotic of all things must have meant the two had a close friendship.

Milotic must have understood the sentiment as well, for as soon as the flash from the camera had faded it gave a knowing nod of its own before turning back once more to the pool. During the display, Floatzel had disappeared as well for there was no sign of the large orange weasel. Seeing that the room was effectively deserted, Makina led Eric towards the far tunnel and further into the Ruins.

While the ground underneath them was sandy with a small puddle or two of water in their way, eventually the area widened into what appeared to be an explosion of green. Plants covered the large room, with large leafy bushes growing surprisingly close to a mixture of elm and oak trees. The ceiling above them appeared to be nonexistent, with sun shining down upon them. While at first it just looked like some errant gardener had just thrown down multiple seeds of plants and just let them be, it was clear after a moment of observation that something was off here as well- most of these plants could only be found in subtropical areas, and a few trees looked as if they would be seen in a much colder climate.

“I'm no botanist, but this is far from natural,” Makina remarked, trying to see if there was anything hiding in the nearby plants.

They didn't have to wait long, for a bush close by rustled and an insectoid Pokemon crawled out to approach the group. It had bright yellow and blue markings, with a large horn adorning the top of its head. While currently it looked curious, there was a slight glint in its eye as if it was up to something.

“That Karrablast looks interested in you. Were you after one?”

With the picture I snagged of Milotic, I'd at least be walking away from here with money regardless. Since I didn't pay to enter the park this time, compliments of a park pass I won, it meant I was up some money, so hey I could live with that.

Maybe it was bad to pass up on Seadra, and Milotic, but I gotta say there weren't many people out there looking for either of those, and I didn't feel like having a second one of both of them sitting around that I'd never use. As I was thinking of this, another Pokemon came our way.

“That Karrablast looks interested in you. Were you after one?” Makina asked

"No thanks. I don't see me using one ever. Let's see if we can get away. If not, you know," I replied, getting ready for an escape.

Almost immediately, Eric shook his head. “No thanks. I don't see me using one ever. Let's see if we can get away.”

Unfortunately, Karrablast appeared to take offense towards Eric's decision. As soon as the Trainer made ready to escape, the small Bug-type latched onto his leg as if trying to prevent the human from leaving. Since the wild Pokemon had neither size nor mass going for it though, it was hardly doing anything to deter us from moving on save for now being attached to Eric.

Almost immediately, Eric silently handed Makina a Pokedoll in order to free his leg once more. The Ranger waved the toy at Karrablast to get the creature's attention, though couldn't hold back from grinning as she did so. Even though it was clearly trying its best to get them to stay put, all that was being accomplished was a comical scene. Seeing the Doll, Karrablast let go of Eric and reached out its small stubby arms for the plushie. “Sometimes I wonder if young Pokemon act up simply to get a Doll,” Makina said, shaking her head.

Before they could continue on, a nearby patch of grass began to sparkle with electricity. Moments later, a miniscule yellow Pokemon crawled out, looking over at Karrablast as if jealous that it had received a toy and it did not. Its beady blue eyes were narrowed, and it then turned towards Eric.

“I think you made that Joltik jealous,” Makina said. “Still, Galvantula is a fairly good Pokemon and they have an interesting typing. Want to go for it?”

We attempted to go on, past this Karrablast, though not before it cost me a Pokedoll. Those things were $500 out of my pocket. It's not like I just have a money machine laying around in my house. Though, the odd part was that it had ended up grabbing onto my leg. Now, I had wanted to just drag my leg along the way, with it attached, because it was small, and that would have been easy to do. But I'm sure Makina would have frowned upon that. I don't see why. It wasn't like I was going to throw my leg against a tree, having it hit, so it got off.

Before we got far though, I started seeing some sparks of electricity coming out from a patch of grass. Wasn't really sure why to be honest, but common sense made me figure that it was probably because of a Pokemon. Sure enough a little creature came out from hiding. It was a small, yellow, spider-like Pokemon. It had some big blue eyes...well, at least I think it did anyway. It was so small, that I'd probably step on it if I walked too close, without even realizing.

“I think you made that Joltik jealous. Still, Galvantula is a fairly good Pokemon and they have an interesting typing. Want to go for it?” Makina said.

"How in the world could you even see that thing?" I asked. It was so small, that I wouldn't have noticed it at all. I wasn't even exactly sure how anyone could manage to battle it, given its size.

"Well, I absolutely hate spiders. Honestly, if I could I would smash them all if I could get the chance. Though, this Joltik is the first decent thing that has come my way, and even if I hate spiders, I could probably always find someone who would want to trade for this thing. So I'll go for it," I said, seeing as how this was the first interesting thing to come my way.

"This will be a battle for you, Dragonite," I said, as I tossed its ball into the air. It's been busy for the Dragon lately. It did my last, and only battle in the park, against Litwick, and it also flew me here. It was good to keep its skills sharp, since it could be handy in my gym if I needed it.

"All right, no playing around, since I'm not really sure what this thing is capable of, due to never facing one before. Get going with a Fire Punch," I commanded.

Seemed logical enough. I didn't want to do Flamethrower, since, well, I didn't want flames shooting out wildly in an attempt to hit a small Pokemon. That didn't seem like the best idea.

Fire Punch was like it sounded. Dragonite's fist would turn red in color, before some flames would erupt there, making his fist on fire. He'd then throw a powerful punch at Joltik which, provided it could even hit the thing, would be a decent starting attack, since Bug was weak against it. This battle should have been interesting, to say the least.

    Ranger Makina Auran

Upon hearing just what the tiny Pokemon in front of him was supposed to be, Eric acted surprised that it had been identified so easily. “How in the world could you even see that thing?” he said, looking over at Makina.

“It's firing off electricity, and if it was a Galvantula it would be a lot larger.” Makina pointed out. “Plus, no other Pokemon are that small so it's really not that difficult to identify.”

“Well, I absolutely hate spiders. Honestly, if I could I would smash them all if I could get the chance,” Eric replied, causing the Joltik to fire off a few more sparks as if it was saying try it, I dare you. “Though, this Joltik is the first decent thing that has come my way, and even if I hate spiders, I could probably always find someone who would want to trade for this thing. So I'll go for it.”

Seeing that Eric was mulling upon which Pokemon to use for this battle, Makina stepped back a bit to oversee the fight. Beside her, Pierrot floated in place- silent for the moment but the curiosity in his eyes showed that he was eager to see just how this fight would take place.

“This will be a battle for you, Dragonite,” Eric called out, tossing a small sphere in the air to call out the draconic creature.

As Dragonite materialized on the field, the Pokemon looked about as if confused. He had been summoned, but there was no opponent in sight. It wasn't until Joltik let off another spark that the Dragon-type looked down, obviously surprised. Judging from the skeptical look he tossed his Trainer, Dragonite must have never fought such a tiny opponent before.

“All right, no playing around, since I'm not really sure what this thing is capable of due to never facing one before. Get going with a Fire Punch,” Eric commanded once Dragonite had seen his target.

This is going to be interesting, Makina mused, a little surprised at hearing just what move Eric had called out first. Joltik were fragile enough as is, and Dragonite was a fully evolved Pokemon with an impressive amount of power under his belt. If that attack hit dead-on, this battle would be over before it even began.

Fortunately for Joltik, the wild Pokemon appeared to be ready for such an aggressive attack. As soon as Dragonite's right fist began to develop a wreath of flames around the appendage, the Bug-type moved in a small yellow blur and landed an impressive jab at the dragon's midsection, startling Dragonite.

Appearing annoyed that he had been struck with a cheap shot right off the bat, Dragonite began to swing wildly as he tried to hit what had to be the size of a gnat for him. Surprisingly, one of his swipes managed to strike home and a tiny form hit the ground. While it looked far from hurt, meaning it had been a glancing blow, this was fortunate as it meant that the Bug-type was still in the fight.

Joltik did not stay idle long, however. Once it had regained its bearings, a light blue light began to emanate from the creature and yet more electricity began to gather around it. Judging from the fact that the Pokemon was gathering the electricity together rather than firing off bolts like most Electric-type moves, this had to be Charge Beam.
