    Ranger "Prose" Ignatius

    (-)

Prose placed the dumbbells down on the floor after he heard the ringing of the computer alarm. He picked up a towel and started drying himself out. After his last run, he noticed that he hadn't been taking care of his body as well as he should. He quickly check the computer and saw that a new trainer had been assigned to him.

"A Turtwig," Prose read the form a few times. "PiZ, you glitching up the system again?"

The monitor shone white, and a pink an blue creature emerged. It was Prose's Porygon-Z, who liked to play around in the Park's computer system from time to time just to let off some steam. It just shook its floating head.

"Hmmm, I wonder what the "A" stands for," Prose mused. "PiZ, get the gang ready. I'll just wash up."

PiZ rose its blue arm and saluted Prose. Prose walked into the bathroom and took a quick shower. He dressed in his usual black and white outfit and donned his red-striped gray boots. Walking to the door, he heard the computer alarm again. PiZ floated to Prose and handed him his black belt, which held his six Pokeballs. He strapped it on and checked his computer again.

::WARNING STRANGE HAPPENINGS IN THE PARK - USE CAUTION::

"Well, this might be an interesting day, PiZ." Prose called his Porygon-Z to its Pokeball and walked out of his room.

As he came to the front desk, he saw that the place was a bit more crowded as usual.

"What's going on?" he asked Quinn, the receptionist.

"There seems to be something upsetting the Pokemon. Some of the trainers scheduled for today have decided to return another time. And what's even stranger is that there appears to be some rain clouds that have appeared from nowhere on the horizon, and they're heading for the Park at an unnatural rate."

Prose walked out to the window, and sure enough there was a sea of black clouds closing in around the Park.

"Well it's a good that I have my hat." Prose pointed to his white beret.

He walked out of the station and popped his trench coat's collar. He looked up and saw that the clouds have already taken over where the Outer Heavens once stood, but appear to have slowed down. It must have meant something big was happening, and Prose hoped that this wouldn't scare of A Turtwig.

'Weird', thought A Turtwig as he left for the National Park, 'I thought today was supposed to be clear and sunny, not particularly cloud'. Indeed, today was to be the day in which he left for the Meteor Valley in order to see the strange creatures that reside in the location, maybe even capture a couple for his not so bare anymore team.

All kinds of things resided in Meteor Valley, including Ghosts, Psychics, and just about anything mysterious. It was a mystery lover's dream location. A packed with him a Solosis Voice Disk to find the one that intrigued him most so he could capture it.

Sadly, the cloudy day threatened to ruin the trip with rain, and thus make the area pretty dangerous.

Suddenly a creature came up and made A dance randomly. It was his Heracross, coined Everyday I'm Shufflin' for the way it always made everything that could move dance. It was one of the two things the boy was bringing with him. The other was HAM, his Donphan. The Donphan was one of the first things the boy received ownership of, and the two were pretty close. Sadly HAM had to be put into its ball due to a rage that had occurred earlier. They were now becoming common.

Soon enough, the boy started seeing the signs of the valley, including the several craters ridden around it. He began to take out his Solosis Voice Disk, eagerly waiting for Prose, the ranger who supposedly was going to be taking him through the area. Today was going to be a nice day, rain or shine.

Prose saw a young boy approach from the Docks, one of the few locations the one can enter the Island. He was about a head smaller than Prose, though Prose was many years older than A Turtwig. Prose also noticed A’s thin physique and black hair. Next to A was a Heracross, a bi-pedal blue beetle with a large, pronged horn extending from his forhead. It was a good choice, as it was part Fighting, which would be good against Dark-types, and Bug, which would help against Dark and Psychic types.

After seeing this Pokémon, Prose couldn’t help but feel the need to dance. He quickly dismissed it, though, as he was used to his younger brother’s Lopunny’s Entrainment. Still his feet had to move in a private rhythm as he walked up to meet his trainer.

“I’m guessing you must be A Turtwig. Looks like you’ll have the Valley all to yourself today. The rest of the scheduled visitors seem to have been scared off by a few clouds.” Prose saw that A took out a Voice Disc. “You can start playing that as soon as we get into the valley. Who knows, maybe you’ll get what you came here for before the rain starts to pour.”

Prose led A towards their destination. It was quite a sight to behold. The clouds had cast a shadow exactly halfway through the Valley. The caves and rocky landscape were shrouded in darkness, along with half of the lake down by one end of the valley and half the waterfall area at the other side. The small trickling stream seemed to be border, and Prose wondered if this was just coincidence.

Prose didn’t like to walk down the hill, as it tended to get pretty steep, especially if it was going to rain soon. He found the path to the old wooden lift, large and strong enough to fit a large group of visitors at a time. Prose liked the sense of the past that the lift held. A Turtwig walked into the lift, followed by his Heracross. Prose started pulling on the rope, and the two descended into the Valley.

The two made it down safely, and now that they were in the valley, Prose turned to his trainer and asked, “You should get out your voice player, and we could walk towards the caves or lake as it plays. It’s up to you where we head towards. But either way, we might see some Pokémon from the caves come out into the open now that part of the valley is shadowed.”

Soon after arriving in the valley, A Turtwig's ranger arrived. He seemed to be free of Heracross's dance craze, which was a surprise since A never met anyone able to achieve such a fate, and the strange valley promised that the residents should be able to as well. Suddenly, his thought was interrupted when Prose said, “You can start playing that as soon as we get into the valley. Who knows, maybe you’ll get what you came here for before the rain starts to pour.”

After A and Prose got to the valley, he said "You should get out your voice player, and we could walk towards the caves or lake as it plays. It’s up to you where we head towards. But either way, we might see some Pokémon from the caves come out into the open now that part of the valley is shadowed.”'

"Hm," this was a tough question. Who knows what could be found on either side of the path. All sorts of strange creatures, and he probably wouldn't see half of them because of what direction he went in. That said, the caves did seem a bit more appealing, but then again, almost anything could be seen now that the valley is shadowed as the ranger said. The lake would be a better option based on the given information.

"I would like to voyage through the lakes please," the boy finally stated. This decision would impact A's whole experience right now, and he hoped it would be better than the other possible decision.

"Hm... I would like to voyage through the lakes please," A said after contemplating his choices.

He reached into his bag and pulled out his voice disc. He kept searching his bag, but came up with nothing.

“You forgot to bring a voice player.” Prose shook his head. “Well, maybe you’ll see a Solosis somewhere around here.”

Prose led A Turtwig down the stream. He couldn’t help but stick his hand through the clouded barrier between the light and dark side of the valley, and it felt like the air was slightly colder. The small stream that led from the waterfall beside the two Pokemon trainers was not glimmering underneath the shadows, which did not go any further into where Prose and A were walking. The ranger kept his eye out for the green Psychic-type Pokemon that A was searching for, but he didn’t see any at the moment.

Suddenly a large screech rang out from the caves. Prose turned to see a small cyan, humanoid figure running out of one of the lower caverns. It had arrow-like markings on its head and green shiny eyes, worried eyes.

Behind it was came a large dark-blue crow Pokemon. It had fedora-like feather crest on its head and white crest on its chest, making it look like a sort of mafia boss from a movie. It extended its claws and picked up the Elgyem and lifted it away.

“Hmmm, that’s odd,” Prose said out loud.

The Honchcrow soared towards us with an evil red look in its eyes. An unnatural glowing crimson aura radiated from its feathers.

“Back away!” Prose yelled as he pulled out his Pokeball. He threw it up and released his large blue dragon into the air. “Salamence, fly up and use Dragon Claw on Honchcrow.”

The dragon soared towards Honchcrow. He dug his claws deep into the bird’s dark-blue body, which caused it to release its grip on the Elgyem.. The Honchcrow cried out and started to fly away into the dark half. Prose’s Salamence was going after it, but Prose stopped him.

    “No, catch the Elgyem!”

Salamence, turned and flew underneath the falling alien, catching it between its wings and landing in front of the two. The Elgyem jumped off and bowed in thanks.

“Alright, you go find some place safe, little one.”

Prose recalled his Salamence and started to walk away, but the Elgyem started running back towards the darkened area of Valley.

“No, stay away from the caves!”

Elygem just kept walking, almost reaching the border of the stream. Surely Elygem would be attacked again by that Honchcrow. Prose thought that he could catch it, and it would be safe. But then another thought crossed his mind.

“A, you could battle it. Maybe you’d like to catch it.”

As A moved along the path, a creature soon appeared. After a high speed chase, it was okay to battle. The creature was the robotic Elgyem.

Elgyem were a curious sort of species. They were said to be one of several nonnative or extraterrestrial species, after Clefairy and several others like it. Capturing one would be great for collection, and the fact that it could change memories was also pretty valuable.

A quickly sifted through his bag and pulled out an object. It was very hard to describe, but it seemed very alluring. It was an Oak's Trinket, which A bought at a shop for a pretty low price. In fact, he paid almost nothing to get such an amazing item.

An amazing item, an amazing encounter, they seemed to go almost brilliantly together. As such, A decided to try to see what would happen if he applied the Trinket when he would go for the capturing of Elgyem. That'll have to wait, however.

Suddenly, a flashback came. He remembered he'd seen an Elgyem before, on his journey. It was his opponent in a tournament. He barely escaped with the win, using his own starter, Torterra. He had never even remembered it until now. This must have been the memory edit, and the seeing an Elgyem again must have brought it back by some weird process.

A, now in full swing for battle, immediately said, "alright everyday I'm shuffling, let's start off with a Night Slash to distract the Elgyem and leave it unable to do much for a little while.

A worried however, for he knew that Heracross sometimes didn't listen while it was too busy partying. He'll just have to wait and see what happens.

A started looking in his bag until he pulled out strange item. The item glittered in the sunlight. Prose had never seen such an item before, and it intrigued him. He released his Porygon-Z and told it to analyze the item and what it did during the battle. The strange pink and blue digital Pokemon bobbled in the air before settling above the clearing. Its dizzy eyes started darting back and forth, keeping watchful over the battle.

“Alright, Everyday I’m Shufflying, let’s start off with a Night Slash to distract the Elgyem and leave it unable to do much for a little while.”

A’s Heracross started moving to his own crazy beat. First it moved to the left and then moved back a bit. He started pumping his fists up and down, holding one up to his head like a DJ.

Elgyem started turning its head and dancing along with Heracross. Its multicolor fingers started pointing at random spots in the Valley and doing some sort of peace sign move.

Heracross stopped his dancing and rushed towards Elgyem, arm extended glowing with a black haze surrounding it. Elgyem was too busy dancing to notice, and Heracross swiped down his arm at Elygem, leaving a haze cut on its head, knocking it onto its back.

As Heracross rejoiced in his attack, Elygem got up, a tear in its eye, and jumped up towards its opponent. Elygem’s head was surrounded by a purple glow, and the alien Pokemon smashed into Heracross’s stomach.

Heracross jumped back to avoid too much damage but seemed to be fine, as he started to dance away despite the super effective Zen Headbutt attack. It seemed like this Elygem wasn’t that battle experienced, as it started rubbing its head in pain.
