    NBP-1

"Alright Gliscor, let's run through it again," I said

The purple vampire-like Pokemon hovered around in the air anxiously awaiting my action. Quickly I cocked back the airsoft pistol I held in my arms and slowly squeezed the trigger. A pellet came flying out of the gun to batter the ground and flying type. He quickly zipped out of the way just in time. I fired another shot; still missed. Shot after shot after shot; all were unsuccessful.

"Wow, looks like you got your evasiveness up to par." I congratulated. "Nicely done."

Gliscor did a flip in the air to celebrate. Suddenly, a vibration in my backpack broke the moment.

"This is Ranger Outpost Hector requesting any nearby idle ranger. Over," my radio buzzed.

I knew Hector was meteor valley. I dug my radio out from under all the Pokedolls and responded, "Mason here. Whatcha need?"

"Mason, we got another run for you. A new trainer eager to catch some Pokemon. You up for it?"

I was always curious to meet a new trainer. "Yeah, I'll take it," I accepted.

"Thanks Bill. We'll you see you there. Outpost out."

I quickly returned Gliscor to his Pokeball and headed down the path taking the fork toward Meteor Valley. The trees began to become more thick and common as flowers grew more numerous. While this was pleasant to the eye, it still created this ominous feeling. I had heard the place housed many Ghost and Dark Pokemon. Was this pleasing sight just an illusion? Who knows? The building came into view with a sign in front of it that read "To Meteor Valley." I just walked over to the outpost and took a seat on the steps to wait for my new trainer.

It wouldn’t be a long wait before a soft yip sounded from the forest, escaping a Pokémon’s throat. Black and white, black and white. That seemed to be the theme for the woman who had just managed to trip her way through the last half of the stretch towards the ranger station. Whirling about, causing her bag to seem to nearly fly from her back, the young woman’s waist length hair seemed to take flight for a few moments in time as she gaze down at the fairly oddly colored Pokémon which followed her.

“What?” startled, Skye glanced about rapidly, only to notice the stranger which had caught her Pokémon’s attention. “Give me a heart attack, why don’t you,” she whispered to the Vaporeon. Selecting a red and white orb the size from her belt, a quick press of a button enlarged the sphere and allowed her the ability to recall her Pokémon, much to Reflection’s relief. And, that would be the moment when Skye turned and hurried the last few yards from the pathway towards the Ranger. Or, at least, she hoped it was him. Perhaps recalling her Pokémon at that point in time was the wrong choice. Doubt crossed the young woman’s face openly as she slowed down to a halt a respectable distance away from him.

“Hello… I’m Skye Keilen. This is the right place, right? The…” tinted eyes darted about for the sign she hadn’t even remembered to look for. Well. Damn. “… Yeah…” a blush openly flared over her cheeks, adding a bit more red to her otherwise nearly colorless theme.

OOC: I'm sorry. I'm really slow at the moment due to midterms and certain projects catching up to me. Normally NP posts are not as slow as this
    ------------------------------------

    NBP-2

A shadowy figure began coming down the trail that I was on a few minutes ago. She caught a glance at me as she stopped and recalled the Pokemon that was next to her. I couldn't see from this distance so I did not know what it was, but I'm sure I would see it along our run. I quickly checked my pack once more for all the necessary items: Pokemon, Pokedolls, Healing items, etc. You can never have too much on one run

She jogged her way over to me and stopped with a look of uncertainty on her face. “Hello… I’m Skye Keilen. This is the right place, right? The…” She could not finish her sentence; I stood there silent to see if she could think of the word she was missing. "…yeah" was all she could say.

I chuckled a little bit before introducing myself. "Yes it is. Welcome to the National Park. I'm Bill Mason; it's a pleasure to meet you. Is this your first time in the park?" I said to try to get her to relax a little.

"Ah, the pleasure is mine!" she replied, seeming to perk up in a heartbeat. "And... Fortunately and unfortunately, it is my first time. I'm probably not all that prepared for the trip, but with any luck, it'll an experience to learn from! And with even more luck, it'll be a fruitful one as well! But, knowing my luck, it'll all be bad, since one can never tell which way luck will... go..." a hand raised to her mouth as the woman physically fought to silence herself. Though, given the amount of words the female could force into one breath, it would be evident that she was the type who could go on all day long without running out of things to say. One thing strung on to another seamlessly, and could go on without end.

"Uhm... Yes. I'm ready to go whenever you are..." she had only paid to bring two Pokémon, and as such, only two Pokéballs could be visibly seen on her belt, worn in the stereotypical trainer fashion. Lowering her hand from her mouth, she stuck both into the front pockets of her white jacket, offering Bill a faint, apologetic smile.

"Sorry about waiting, but you're previous ranger had to step away from here to tend to other matters. I'm Gary, and I'll be taking you through the park now," I said as I extended my hand. "So now that the formalities are over, I'm sure you've been waiting long enough so let's get started shall we?" I said, as I started to lead her through the park. Fortunately for her she had yet to encounter any Pokemon, it's always a bit frustrating, as well as worrying to encounter a Pokemon, but then be left alone with it due to the time it takes during a ranger switch. Still it was no harm done, not like when I took over for a trainer named Alex who was looking for his lost Rotom, and decided to leave his Starmie all alone as a decoy to distract a Milotic he was battling, but I couldn't think of that now.

We started heading down the main hall of Meteor Valley, and it was only a few steps before a Pokemon decided to make its presence known to us. It was a small little shy Pokemon. This Pokemon looked as though it was wearing a dress for most of its body. Where its hair would be appeared to be a green helmet, with a red horn in the front, and the back. At the first glance you can't really see if this Pokemon had eyes or not, but if you got a look at it from a certain angle you could see that it's eyes were just covered. It was a Pokemon that, and it's evolutions too, seemed to resemble human beings. And once it would evolve, based on its gender it could turn out to evolve into one of two different Pokemon.

"This is a pretty good way to start things off wouldn't you say so? Want to face this Ralts?"

Apparently everything had gone topsy-turvy for Skye. The ranger she had just been speaking with had other things to attend to, it seemed. And now, she had a new person to meet, someone who she regarded with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. This wasn't the person she had thought she would be traveling with, but soon enough broke her near-paralyzed stare when he offered his hand. Reaching out, she intended to take his hand in her own in an easy grasp, her blank expression giving way to a smile. Easily distracted by such things as pleasantries and greetings, she answered his words in a softer tone.

“Skye Keilen, my name hasn’t changed since I last introduced myself,” soon after she had spoken, a realization hit her. Maybe her words had come across as snarky instead of as a joke. Red-tinted eyes widened in sheer horror at the thought, but instead of apologizing, she retrieved her hand to stick over her mouth before she went into a tangent about how her sense of humor was off and apologizing over herself for the comment. Cheeks puffing slightly as she blew against her own palm, Skye allowed her ranger to begin his duties of guiding her around.

Eventually, she came to trust herself enough to lower her hand again, sticking her hands into the pockets of her light coat as her gaze wandered. The area itself was interesting enough, small details here and there capturing her imagination. It would be one of those fun places she wouldn’t mind running off and exploring the various caves. But, knowing her luck, she would probably slip, break and leg, and get kicked out of the park… not necessarily in that order, either. All too soon, Gary drew to a stop, leaving Skye to shoot him a questioning glance. They hadn’t gotten very far at all! Was she already in trouble?

Following his gaze, she soon enough spotted what he was looking at and couldn’t believe it. A Ralts. Truly, he looked adorable in the walking, living doll type of fashion. Which made it a creepy type of cute. But still definitely cute. A smile broke across her features, answering the question the ranger brought up without uttering a word. Already, she drew a hand back to select not one, not two, but three balls, thinking over what she knew of this Pokémon. Just off of the location they were at, she could venture to guess its glaring weaknesses and one of the primary reasons she had brought Neon into the Park. But still, Reflection could do a delicious job in working it down if she needed. So which one to pick?

“Couldn’t think of a better start, honestly,” the woman selected one of the three spheres to roll into her left hand to enlarge and toss it, leaving her with an empty Park Ball and an orb containing her back up to her first selection. “Primary lead: Neon! Start things off with a Shadow Ball!” her words were far more energetic than the nearly subdued tone she had spoken with earlier, showing true enthusiasm towards the prospect of battling. And, in a luminescent flare, the strangest Jolteon appeared. Perhaps his coat had been dyed from its natural yellow to a silvery tone, leaving only a light contrast from his stark white mane, but the brilliance behind the coloring would be displayed soon enough as an eager volt of electricity crackled between stiffening locks of hair. He truly seemed to be a brilliant keeper for his name.

Barking an affirmative, the least-huggable Eevee evolution in known existence to date spread his paws evenly on the ground while facing his target. Much like a charging cannon, he took aim as the darkness seemed to gather from the very air around himself and molding it into an orb. Skye herself had given no indication that she particularly wanted Neon to hold back, nor did it seem to be understood between Pokémon and trainer that this wasn’t a fight to the faint. Unspoken reasons would remain as the trainer offered nothing more than a faint grin, wondering if Ralts had any plans to try to avoid the ghostly sphere as it launched soon enough, firing with deadly accuracy.

“Let’s see what you’ve got, Ralts…” that grin didn’t once waver, waiting to see if the opponent would flinch in the face of adversity, or perhaps he would try to study Neon. Best yet, he would react positively and rush headlong into battle, though that meant Skye truly couldn’t command a Thunder Wave and would have to rely on raw electricity to disable it… that is, assuming that the Pokémon could take the attack at all. All in all, she had faith, however. Pokémon were always tougher than they looked at first glance. She didn’t doubt for a moment that he would at least try to put up a fight.

OOC: Saw you say he, but gonna ask to make sure, Ralts gender?

IC: “Couldn’t think of a better start, honestly,” Skye said, in response to seeing this Ralts. I couldn't blame her for being happy, both of Ralts final forms, Gardevoir and Gallade, proved to be incredibly useful. “Primary lead: Neon!" Skye said as a Pokemon appeared from one of the Pokeballs she brought along. From it came out a Pokemon that was rather dog-like in appearance. It had a short tail which was surrounded by spikes, and most of its fur was yellow in color. Around it's neck it had a white, spiky color. It was a Jolteon, a very commonly seen Pokemon. "Start things off with a Shadow Ball!” Skye commanded, she wasn't wasting any time at all with Ralts. Of course there really was no better way to start off a battle than with a powerful attack.

Jolteon ran into position, and inhaled deeply. In front of its mouth, Jolteon began to form a purple ball of energy. The main ball itself was a dark shade of purple, but inside of it you could see various bits of a littler shade of purple. This was Shadow Ball, a Ghost-type attack, that had the chance of lowering the opposing Pokemon's Special Defense. Ralts was weak to Ghost-type attacks, so if this attack hit it would probably put a good dent in the Pokemon already. Jolteon fired the attack at Ralts, and after it did I couldn't help but hear Skye say, “let’s see what you’ve got, Ralts…” She seemed to know better than to judge a Pokemon based on its looks, because based at a first glance Ralts would appear to be a weak Pokemon, but it actually could pack a powerful punch.

The Shadow Ball was making its way towards Ralts, but Ralts wasn't just standing there doing nothing, it was making a counterattack. It used it's psychic powers to create some leaves, leaves that you could tell were infused with psychic powers. This was a move that didn't rely on a Pokemon's ability to avoid attacks, or a Pokemon's aim, but rather it honed in on a Pokemon's specific energy signal. It was Magical Leaf. This was an interesting move for Ralts to be using, when it could have easily used something like Psychic to try to stop Shadow Ball in its tracks, but perhaps this Ralts wasn't the defensive type.

The leaves from Magical Leaf more or less went around Shadow Ball, a few actually collided with the ball, and now both Pokemon were targets of an attack. The leaves reached Jolteon, and it did it's best to avoid them, but it couldn't avoid all of them, and the ones that hit Jolteon caused it to jump back a few feet, but it wasn't anything too serious, and so Jolteon was able to just shake it off. Ralts on the other hand wasn't as lucky, rather than trying to jump, or just move out of the way, it attempted to duck down, this wasn't enough though due to Ralts small height. Shadow Ball ended up bouncing off of Ralts head, causing the ball to go flying, and making Ralts to fall face first into the ground. Ralts wasn't hurt too bad, but that certainly was humiliating.

OOC: Indeed, Male. And you pick the nature, correct?

    IC:

If one thought Skye would take pity on the Pokémon for face-planting the ground, they had another thing coming. Her mind continued to turn, silently pleased that she hadn’t selected Reflection for this battle. If everything went well, she could probably stick with Neon for the entirety of the run, but that wouldn’t be the case. One might also think that a continued assault on Ralts’ weak spot would be a good way to go, but that would, also, not be the path this trainer would take. Dark bangs fell lightly into her face as she proceeded with the battle.

“Good hit! Now Quick Attack!” the energy only seemed to continue to build in the trainer, met with enthusiasm by her Pokémon, who again barked a syllable of his own species’ name before giving what appeared to be a play bow to the fallen Ralts. For a moment, time itself would seem to pause around Neon as energy built up within his compact frame, a moment shattered when he launched forward with a blazing speed towards the Ralts, a streak of white left in his wake. A low hum of amusement escaped the trainer at that moment, her lips curling upward slightly to see how easily the Pokémon moved, covering ground to ram into the fallen Pokémon with a none-too-gentle strike. And, soon after, a new call would be given. “Discharge!”

The purpose of the two attacks would be revealed soon enough. Despite the fact that Discharge had a large range, or perhaps because of it, Skye wanted her Jolteon as close as possible before executing the strike. Unlike a simple Thunderbolt which, while powerful, was usually a single bolt of electricity, Discharge shot multiple streaks of electricity in nearly every direction. The closer the target was to the attack’s origin, the better chance of being struck. And if there was one thing that the woman knew she could count on, it was that she couldn’t trust the enemy’s Pokémon in battle. Any attempt to evade would be cut down drastically. And, with any luck, Ralts might just try to escape and be struck more than once. Or better yet, become paralyzed.

All of these theories in her mind, brought to life in that split second, would be revealed soon enough as Neon’s coat began to glow, charging up his natural stores of electricity. Mixing them with the static charged up in his coat from the raw excitement of the battle, it wouldn’t take too long for him to execute the requested command. Whether Ralts had been taken down again or had tried to escape, Skye’s electric Pokémon proceeded to shed volts of electricity in nearly every direction, the energy itself a brilliant yellow color which held no true physical value or direction, as could be seen as each beam seemed to shimmer and dance like a free spirit.

Skye held off from trying to capture the Ralts, however. No matter how excited she seemed, she also wished to observe the outcome of the fray before jumping the gun. For all she knew, this whole plan could backfire…

OOC: Yes, after you catch it it'll be given a nature.

IC: Syke seemed to show no emotion change towards Ralts after it fell into the ground, not even so much as a laugh. She either didn't care in the least bit, or she was just very good at keeping her composure. It didn't matter much either way though, she had a pretty decent advantage over Ralts already, and having a clear head in battle was the best way to keep that advantage. What I wondered now though was what was next? Skye's Jolteon didn't exactly have a lot of moves at it's disposal, and using Shadow Ball twice in a row wasn't the best idea since Ralts had already seen the move be used. So it did make me wonder what he plan would be.

“Good hit! Now Quick Attack!” Skye commanded Jolteon. This wasn't a bad idea, it gave Jolteon a chance to show off it's speed, and nail Ralts with an attack before it had much of a chance to do anything really. Quick Attack was just like it's name sounded, the user charged at the opponent at a higher than normal speed, and smacked them with their body. It was a good move to use as a last shot, but this actually wasn't all Skye had in mind, I barely heard her, but I did also hear her say “Discharge!” I understood what she was after now. Discharge was a move that could be shot at from a distance, but that would give Ralts enough time to try to avoid the move, but by following up Quick Attack with Discharge, Ralts would have no where to run, and would be forced to take the full force of the attack.

Jolteon kicked its feet at the ground a few times, and instantly it dashed over at Ralts. It got over to Ralts by the time Ralts got up, and without any hesitation, Jolteon released a powerful ball of energy from its entire body, which broke into various pure waves of electricity, most of which hit Ralts. The attack knocked Ralts down, but it didn't seem to paralyze it, if anything Ralts was just more determined now, and now that Jolteon was right in front of Ralts, it too had no where to run.

Ralts got back up, and opened its eyes from under its "helmet" wide. It's eyes turned a bright shade of blue, Ralts was using it's Psychic powers to create an attack. To be even more specific the attack it was using was Psychic itself. The entire surrounding area turned pink, and Jolteon's body was now coated in a shade of blue, like that of Ralts eyes. Jolteon was then lifted in the air, and dropped to crash into the ground. Fortunately for Jolteon though it was mildly able to break its fall, and decrease the damage it felt from Psychic. Jolteon hadn't beaten Ralts now, but it certainly did a good job of protecting itself after attacking as best it could.
