Individual RP: Ryoku

OOC: This should be fun. I remember rping during our battles months ago ^^ If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hopefully you enjoy yourself and come across some sweet Pokemon.

"Madison, quick, do you have any runs I can go on?" I asked the secretary desperately. I'd run into the front office from the Ranger work-area, and a couple of the waiting Trainers looked up at me in worry and confusion. Madison knew better, though: my heavy panting and flushed face indicated that I had either just managed to make it with some sweet young thing, or had just pulled a prank on someone and needed to get out fast. She raised her eyebrows and looked me up and down slowly.

"Well, I guess I do have one run that no one has taken yet," she said reluctantly, handing me a file, before asking curiously, "what did you do this time?"

"Oh, I just made good on a promise I made on my last run," I said cryptically, taking the manila folder and rushing out of the building, just avoiding knocking Elesa over. I smiled by way of apology, and quickly turned the corner, hiding out of sight. I'd been panting for maybe two seconds when I heard Buzz scream with rage. I grinned.

<What did you do this time?> the voice in my head sounded like a sigh. I knew who it was, and turned around to see my partner, Dual, walking towards me. The Gallade wasn't a huge fan of being indoors, so he usually exercised or flirted with any passing Gardevoir when I was working inside.

"Remember when we were last on Mount Deckbi?" I asked him. "I did to Buzz what you suggested.

Dual's eyes narrowed, looking at me carefully for half a minute. <Alright, I guess that's fair enough,> he said, before seeing the manila folder and gesturing to it curiously.

"Oh, yeah, we've got a run," I said, jerking back to the present out of my memories. "Mind teleporting us to the Abandoned Power Plant?"

Dual nodded, and reached out to grasp my shoulder. As I felt the familiar hook behind my stomach reach out and the light become shaded in blue, my last thought was that hopefully the Trainer hadn't been waiting around at the gate too long.

Ryoku was FINALLY at the gate. He had actually been here a few hours ago, but just as he reached the gate, Atticus broke free from his pokeball, and flew off as fast as his wings could carry him. Ryoku had spent what seemed an eternity chasing him; over hills, through the woods, and even a few trips back and forward near the dock. Finally, after much huffing and puffing, a fantastic leap off of the quay allowed Ryoku to grab Atticus by the short wings… dropping them both into the sea. A short time later, Atticus was in his ball, Ryoku had changed into some dry clothes, and all involved finally reached the gate.

“Hope you haven’t been waiting too long,” Ryoku called out to the Ranger. “My Crobat decided to get a little exercise.”

OOC: Just so you know, this is the Plant, so you're going to have to wade through lots of rubbish mons, but there are some gems hidden in your Encounter list, I promise.

I'd been waiting around for about fifteen minutes, idly playing with one of the simple games on my PDA when a young man suddenly rushed through the gate and called out in my direction.

“Hope you haven’t been waiting too long,” he called as he ran over. “My Crobat decided to get a little exercise.”

I immediately froze up. My legs locked tight, and my arms refused to move. A Crobat? I hated bats, especially Crobat in particular. Being in close proximity to Ivy's Crobat had cured me of my debilitating fear, but I still disliked them, and wasn't comfortable around them at all.

I pushed it aside with a probably visible effort and fixed a smile onto my face. "Not a problem," I said, "now let's get going on this Expedition. My name is James Carter, but feel free to call me Chainy. It's a long story, don't ask."

I shook his hand and learned that his name was Ryoku. I led him through the gate and towards the large concrete building. Instead of going through the main door like always, I decided to lead Ryoku around the exterior of the plant to one of the side doors. Gravel crunched underneath our feet and being between the concrete walls and the chain-link fence created a strange feeling of claustrophobia.

I head a strange ringing and clinking sound, and I looked to my left, at the fence. A small blue-and-white squirrel was climbing the fence, using its little hands and feet to secure footholds on the wires. It reached the top and vaulted the bar before climbing back down.

"Interested in battling a Pachirisu?" I asked Ryoku.

“Interested in battling a Pachirisu?” Chainy said. But Ryoku didn’t hear. He had spotted the little white and blue pokemon an instant before the ranger had. It looked like a squirrel, with its bushy tail, fuzzy ears, and buck teeth. Its terrible, shiny, sharp buck teeth. Its gargantuan fangs, and needly claws, just waiting to dig into Ryoku’s flesh... In reality, the Pachirisu was adorable, but its appearance had triggered a flashback in Ryoku, jogging his memory of the day, when he was a small child, that a pack of angry squirrels attacked him, and stole his can of salted nuts. To this day, squirrels and their like terrified him.

“Um, nah,” Ryoku finally sputtered, when he realized Chainy had spoken to him. “Looks too weak. We’d better move on.”

OOC: Wrote this without checking to make sure I was using the same narrative point of view as last time. How lucky am I? XD

OOC: @Ryoku OH MY GOD HOW DID THIS IS SLIP MY ATTENTION FOR SO LONG I AM SO SORRY ;-; it won't happen again. Also, the escape was a failure, but it's general practice to auto-use escape items. If you don't want me to use them, VM me and I'll edit this post.

“Um, nah, looks too weak. We’d better move on,” Ryoku said. The inflection in his voice was a little strange - it was almost fear. He started to look even more agitated as the Pachirisu topped the fence, and then when it jumped down onto the ground he quickly flung a PokeDoll at the squirrel before running towards the building. I followed him, taking a moment to look at the squirrel, which was curiously inspecting the doll.

When I caught up with Ryoku next to the building, I decided not to question him. Instead, I pulled on the large double-doors that led into the Plant. Before I could open them all the way, though, a purple spherical Pokemon floated out and chuckled at us. Poisonous gas swirled around it, and we both took a quick backwards step. Still, the Pokemon didn't seem to mean us any harm - it simply floated just outside the door, laughing happily.

"Uh, how about a Koffing?" I asked Ryoku, waving my hand towards the Poison-type.
