It had only been a day or two since Ranger Elisa Fleming had gotten back to the Ranger Outpost from my latest National Park Run. It had been a rather exciting one at the Woods, though the weather had been warm. The wildlife was an amazing sight, and even though she had gotten a few slight scrapes on her arms from the tree branches, it was well worth the trip. There were some interesting battles, too. As of the moment, she had just finished up her paperwork and was just about ready to take another trainer through - though she preferred to take a rest first. The weather hadn't gotten much cooler, but it was still endurable.

She was in her small office, with her back leaning comfortably against her chair. Her legs were stretched and her arms flopped at her sides. She contemplated between continuing to rest or to go the the front desk and ask whether there were any runs available. She then realized if she would want to take another trainer, she could easily access it through her computer - without having to ask their receptionist. With a few clicks, she could easily see the trainer forms - if there were any - waiting to be taken. Still, she didn't feel like going out just yet... Maybe in a few minutes or so,[/s] she told herself, ready to close her eyes for a bit.

"Elisa!" The seventeen-year-old heard someone yell only a few moments after she had shut her eyes. The sound echoed in her eyes, racking her nerves, and startling her to wake up. She groaned, recognizing the voice. She'd know that sound anywhere and everywhere. It was the yell of an Elite Ranger named James Carter, whom they called Chainy.

She sat upright quickly - it was certainly embarrassing for her, or anyone else, to be caught in a situation like that. Especially to be seen by an Elite who gave out the wages. "Uhh.." she mumbled, not catching his steady gaze. "What's up?"

The male ranger ignored the earlier scene of an almost-asleep ranger. Who could blame her? he thought silently. The others are all like that, plus she just finished a run and the paperwork... "Would you be ready to take another trainer through the Park?"

"Um, sure," Elisa replied with a small shrug. "Where's it to?"

"Meteor Valley." He handed her the file and she almost squealed in excitement. He raised an eyebrow curiously, urging her to explain.

"I haven't been there before," she said apologetically as she took the brown folder. Grabbing her Ranger's Digital Assistant, she strapped the device on to her wrist before uploading all the information onto it. "Right. Well, time to go. Archer, you're up!"

She released her Gallade from his red-and-white-colored orb housing. "Okay, buddy, think you can teleport us to Meteor Valley?" The Psychic-Fighting-type nodded immediately with a determined expression plastered on his face. She grinned, knowing that if there was a will, there was way he would be able to transport them to that far a place.

"We haven't worked out telephatic communication yet," she explained to Chainy, who also owned a Gallade. She only got a glimpse of his head bobbing down once and his mouth opening to speak before she - together with her Pokemon - was enveloped in a bright blue bubble of energy. She wasn't able to hear what he had said for she was already being slowly transported to another area.

In a blink of an eye - literally speaking - the two found themselves in the midst of a plain. And around them were mountains of different altitudes and ranges. This was Meteor Valley. Elisa reached into her brown shoulder bag, double-checking that they really had everything they probably would need on this expedition. She had the emergency supplies like Pokedolls and Energy Powders, as well as her Pokemon in case they came across something large and unpleasant... Now, they were to wait for Zak.

Two male figures, one significantly larger than the other, began to approach and unsuspecting ranger while she waited against the entrance gate, appearing to be checking her watch for time. One of the figures was a massive, musclebound hulk that sported a very impressive looking championship belt along with an extra set of extremely vascular arms bursting out of its shoulder region. This was Zak's trusty partner, Machamp. The two often trained together, and the physique and power of Machamp had been an inspiration for most of Zak's life.

Machamp began to tiptoe over to the young female ranger who was waiting for them, hoping to catch her off guard. He was like a two hundred eighty six pound ballerina as he gracefully danced to her, his calf muscles flexing to the size of boulders as he made one final leap to her and put his monstrous calloused hand on her shoulder.

The girl yelped in fear, not expecting to see a Machamp behind her. Machamp's face turned into a large grin, his forehead veins pulsing as he began to utter a hearty laugh, his goal of scaring her being completed.

Zak laughed and appologized for his friend's behavior and introduced himself to the still startled girl.

"Hello, I'm Zak! You must be Elisa?" the teenager said enthusiastically as he extended his arm to shake his ranger's hand.

This was Zak's first expedition. The rugged mountainous terrain surrounding him contrasted well with his clean white shirt and unwrinkled khaki shorts. The only thing that looked rugged about him was his partner, Machamp, who was a native to these harsh environments. The Pokemon raised his two sets of arms excitedly and took a deep breath of mountain air, ready to start his journey into Meteor Valley.

Elisa waited for Zak for quite a while, though not more than a five or so minutes. She glanced at her watch for about the third time as she leaned on the metallic entrance gate. Any second now... she told herself.

Suddenly, she felt a large muscular palm rest on her shoulder. She jumped and screamed in fear and surprise, feeling that the hand could have probably broken her bones. She spun around quickly, and found herself staring - glaring - at a Machamp. He had a large grin plastered on his face as he let out a hearty laugh. Looking further over his shoulder, the ranger spotted a male trainer.

The teen, who was presumably Zak, fought the urge to laugh as he apologized for his Pokemon partner's behavior. "Hello, I'm Zak!" he greeted energetically. "You must be Elisa?"

"Yes - that would be me." she smiled warmly as she shook his outstretched hand. Elisa gestured over to the mountains and plains which constituted Metoer Valley. "I take it you both are ready for the expedition." She laughed slightly, referring to the Fighting-type's eagerness. "So, let's go!"

The female teen pushed the gate open, and guided the trainer through the first plain quickly. They hoped to find creatures as early as now - some action was always nice.

"What Pokemon are you interested in Zak?" she asked curiously. Would he be one of those who wanted the popular Zorua? "And, would you like to explore down here or go up the mountains?"

A few moments later, the group of three saw a shadow rush past them. Elisa immediately looked around, keeping a look-out for the creature. They saw a few more dark shadowy flashes zipping here and there. In an instant, they lost complete sight of the nimble entity...

They thought they had lost it - whatever it was - but, no. When they least expected it to come back, a diminutive hominid-like creature with dark purple body jumped out in front of us. Its gemstone eyes, which allow them to see in very little light, were its most distinguishing feature. The Darkness Pokemon had razor sharp teeth which looked to be designed to crunch up rocks and crystals. It also had rather sparkly gemstones on its chest.

"These species are known to have flexible bodies that allow them to fit into small crevices in the mountains, but their body structure is also tough enough to withstand cave-ins," the ranger told Zak a little more about the Pokemon. "You see those gemstones on its chest and its gem-like eyes? Studies show they are present as a result of the creature's crystal and mineral diet."

"Are you interested in this Sableye, Zak?"
