    It was time for yet another trainer run. Lately the park staff had received a flood of new entries into the park. This was of course good for the park because it allowed for money into the park, and that in turn allowed us to hire more ranger, upgraded the park, and acquire more Pokemon to place in the vast range.

    But it made for some busy rangers, and I liked it like that. I hated sitting at my desk just filling out paperwork, it was a necessary evil in my opinion. That didn’t mean I tried to get out of the office at every opportunity.

    So, I filed everything I had been working on the night before and tidied up my office. I figured I would be gone for most of the day so I packed my typical ranger equipment plus some additional snacks and drinks. I snagged my belt containing my Pokemon and stepped into the transportation unit.

    A moment later I was at the volcanic region of Mt Deckbi, an area known for its Rock, Ground, and Fire types. There were a few Pokemon here I wanted, but I hadn’t been here yet as a trainer. I would one day, but for now I would concentrate on giving the client a solid experience. I leaned back against a rock and waited for him to show up.

    As Jay ascended to the top of a rocky hill, his eyes glazed over in excitement as he laid eyes on the great Mt. Deckbi; a stunning volcanic area filled with Fire-, Ground-, and Rock-types. He'd done copious amounts of research, making sure to hit every point he possibly could here. His last Park Run had been... an unexpected affair, to say the least. However, he was much wiser; much stronger.

    Descending the hill, Jay noted the four Pokemon he'd brought along with him. Not very diverse in typing, but enough for him to take on many of the types in Deckbi. These four were his strongest; his own personal Elite Four. He chuckled at the joke inwardly, looking around once more. The expanse of the mountain itself was nothing to scoff at; however, the entire natural structure was enough to make him anxious. He began to sweat with anticipation, the hot air of the surroundings not helping his case.

    He needed to clean himself up, or else he'd look like a pig in front of his Ranger. And looking less-than-satisfactory was something Jay abhorred more than losing itself. He was a boy of appearances, and while winning and tactics were good; he needed to have the look of a legitimate professional. He was going for three specific prizes here at Deckbi, and he'd be damned if anything got in his way.

    Spotting a girl, whom he could only assume was his ranger, he stepped into sight; waving his hand. "Excuse me, are you my Ranger today?" he asked in a polite, but still stern voice. He needed to show he was ready for anything, and that he possessed the seriousness to do his job.    ​

    It was long before I spotted the young man coming up the path. He had blond hair, green eyes, and was dressed for a hiking expedition. I double checked his sheet and sure enough it was him, Jay.

    “Excuse me, are you my ranger today?”

    I sized the young trainer up as one who was serious about training. That could be both good and bad, but for now that remained unknown. I shook his hand and introduced myself. “Gaius Tyrannius, and yes I’m your ranger for the day. I think we’ll circle the base of the volcano before climbing the flanks if that’s all right with you.”

    I heard his reply and logged us into the park. The information registered and the gates swung open. Jay’s adventure was about to begin.

    The large volcano loomed up close, spewing ash like a petulant baby not happy with its dinner. A large path wound its way around the base, while other walkway patterned the flanks. At the bottom you couldn’t see the top because of all the ash, but I knew it was there and I would eventually lead my trainer up there.

    We had just started on the path when a jumble of rocks started to move. The rocks quickly materialized into the snake-like form of Onix.

    “Not a bad start,” I commented Idly. “You up to catching one?”

    Just as the rocks had begun to form, Jay was already on guard. The rocks shaped themselves quickly, forming into the Rock Snake Pokemon; Onix, a Pokemon Jay had read to roam the mountain paths. He knew right away that the creature would be looking for a fight; and that was something he had no problem doing.

    Upon taking out his Pokeball, he heard his Ranger speak. “Not a bad start,” he commented, before continuing. “You up to catching one?” That was a good question... was he? He had to think about that for a moment...

    However, just like anything he pondered; it only took a moment for his definitive answer. "No," he stated simply, throwing out the Pokeball he held. The sphere opened up, the blue-hued body of the Dragon Pokemon, Salamence, coming to the face down the tall foe. Growling, she glared down at her opponent. However, Intimidate was not to work its magic with this one.

    Jay had planned beforehand; being sure he'd fight Rock-types here or there.

    "Alright, are you ready Salamence?" the "Dragon" only nodded, no definite roar coming from her lips. Strange, considering that Salamence were known for their ferocious and ostentatious battling styles.

    Beginning, Jay held out his hand. "Boost yourself up with Nasty Plot!" the Dragon-type's eyes lit with a purplish hue, the glow of dark energy enveloping the schlera as she boosted her Special Attack strength. Now, she could attack even harder from that spectrum.

    Jay narrowed his eyes in concentration. He'd hoped his transforming of Zoroark into Salamence before the start of this whole affair was accepted by his Ranger. However, now was not the time to worry.

    He needed to start her off. "Rush in with Night Slash!" he commanded, the Pokemon rushing in with its illusory wings. Dark energy billowed from her claws as she lunged at the Rock Snake Pokemon. His attempt was to break any form of Sturdy the creature may have.

    He'd only hoped it hit.    ​

    @Oerba - You can try and run before you battle. Illusion would actually turn you into Haxorus because it’s the last in your party. Gender?

    Jay seemed to consider whether he would catch it or not before he made up his mind. “No,” he finally said, I could hear the resolve in his voice.

    He tossed out a Pokedoll and a Salamence materialized from in all its glory. The winged Dragon looked at the Onix, but didn’t use its trademarked roar, one that intimidated most Pokemon.

    “Alright, are you ready, Salamence?” Jay asked his Pokemon, who responded by nodding its large head. “Boost yourself up with Nasty Plot!”

    When I heard the command I knew the jog was up, no Salamence could learn such a move. I knew that only two Pokemon could take on the form of another, and since Ditto copied the opposing Pokemon I knew this had to be a Zoroark. I checked my ipad and saw that he had brought such a Pokemon along. My suspicions confirmed, I switched my attention back to the battle.

    As a dark hue of energy enveloped the Zoroark the Onix roared back in defiance and slithered forward. When it thought it had neared sufficient closer the Pokemon brought its large body down in what would have been a Slam attack. But Zoroark was much faster than the Onix and easily dodged, still maintaining the focus needed to boost its special attack.

    “Rush in with Night Slash!” Jay commanded next.

    The large claws of the ‘Salamence’ elongated and turned dark with energy. Moving forward the Pokemon struck at Onix, raking its claws across the rocky, segmented form of Onix. The rock-snake roared its outrage and flicked its tail at Zoroark, parts of its tail coming off in the form of large boulders. The attack hit Zoroark, disrupting the Illusion and showing its true wolf form. The detached pieces returned to Onix as it faced off against the Dark type.
