Individual RP: Mubz

The wind swept through the golden brown hair of Joe, as he was sitting on a rock, watching the Slowking trying to entertain himself by sitting on his head. It was an amusing sight watching a large Pokemon of his size attempting to stand on his head. Then Joe felt a weird sensation of vibration against his legs. He quickly searched around in his pocket and withdrew a small plain basic phone. He check the front screen of the phone and noticed a small yellow icon on the top of his screen that looked like a small message. He flicked the phone opened and saw that he had received a message from Jay, his loyal friend.

Joey,

Alright so the boss stopped by in your office and noticed that you weren't there. He told me to tell you that you should make your way up to Meteor Valley and wait for a Trainer. He goes by the name of Mubz.

Right well I am off back to 'work'​

Joe glanced up and noticed a small wooden sign that read: METEOR VALLEY CHECKPOINT

Joe smiled and rested against the rock waiting for his trainer to arrive.

Mubz got up and stretched his neck, hearing the bones pop. He wasn’t used to spending the night in a Pokemon Centre, let alone on the floor of one, but it was already overcrowded and he had needed a place to stay. He already had travelled many miles to make it here for a chance to go into the National Park, and he decided one night’s restless sleep was worth it.

He got up and packed his sleeping bag into his bag. With no privacy in the corner of the lobby, he had ended up sleeping in the clothes he had worn the day before. He went to a bathroom and inspected himself in the mirror. His jeans and his t-shirt were heavily creased, and he regretted not packing some extra clothes. Along with the tired look on his face and the slight stubble on his chin, he looked like someone who had recently become homeless. He splashed some water on his face, trying to wake himself up. He reached into his bag and pulled out two objects. One was a map of the National Park, with a circle around the words Meteor Valley Checkpoint. The other was a Pokeball. He released the Pokemon inside and the light materialised into his Gallade. ‘Lade’ he said, happy to be released.
‘Ok Gallade, we need to get to the Meteor Valley Checkpoint,’ Mubz said. ‘Think you can handle that?’

‘Lade!’ he said affirmatively. Mubz put a hand on the Gallade’s arm and suddenly the bathroom around him began disappearing and was replaced with the checkpoint.
'Thanks Gallade,' he said, and returned him to his Pokeball and looked around. It was slightly foggy and the grass the knee high, with rocks spotted around. On one of them was a person, dressed in Ranger uniform, watching a Slowking attempting to balance itself on its head. It looked like quite comical. Mubz walked up to the Ranger and introduced himself. ‘Hi, I’m Mubz. I’m guessing you are my ranger?’

 

‘Hi, I’m Mubz. I’m guessing you are my ranger?’ The young trainer said as he approached Joe.

"Yes I am your ranger, well Mubz do you want to follow me? I think today we will make our way towards the crater zone, I hear that there are a lot of wild and rare Pokemon down there," Joe said and then gestured Mubz to follow him.

The group walked towards a large cave opening, with a large man-made wooden banner above reading 'Enterance'. Joe always laughed as he walked past that banner, the person who made it may have been not to good a spelling when he or she was at primary school. As Joe was about to walk into a cave a small grey puppy leaped in front of them. It snarled at them before howling out loud.

Joe whipped out his Pokedex and scanned the small grey puppy Pokemon.

"Poochyena, the Bite Pokémon. Poochyena is the pre-evolved form of Mightyena. Its biting strength is superior Pokémon, and has the endurance to chase opponents down until completely exhausted.

"Well Mubz, do you want to battle this young feisty Poochyena?" Joe asked him.

"Yes I am your ranger, well Mubz do you want to follow me? I think today we will make our way towards the crater zone, I hear that there are a lot of wild and rare Pokemon down there," said his Ranger. Mubz noticed a nametag that said Joe on it. ‘Yeah OK,’ Mubz replied, and Joe motioned for him to follow.

Joe led Mubz in the direction of a dark cave. It looked as if it was pitch black two feet inside of the cave. They passed a large wooden sign that said ‘Enterance’. Mubz was about say something witty before he realised that Joe had a smirk on his face. Clearly he had seen that sign many times over.

Suddenly a large snarl came from out of the cave, and a shaggy grey puppy jumped out and began howling. Joe reached into his pocket and pulled out what looked like a scientific calculator, it flipped open and began talking in a computerised voice.

‘Poochyena, the Bite Pokémon. Poochyena is the pre-evolved form of Mightyena. Its biting strength is superior Pokémon, and has the endurance to chase opponents down until completely exhausted.’

"Well Mubz, do you want to battle this young feisty Poochyena?" Joe asked him.

‘Hmm… No thanks, I’m after some pretty specific Pokemon today. But it looks like this little pooch is really up for it, so I’m going to give it a Poke doll to play with’ Mubz replied, pulling out a little stuffed doll of a Clefairy and throwing it into the cave. The Poochyena chased after it eagerly. Mubz reached into his bag and brought out three more items. The first was a spray can, like a can of deodorant. He read the label ‘Dark Type Repellent, made by Syncorp’ and then sprayed the slightly sharp smelling liquid over himself. He had also pulled out a Disc Holder and a Pokeplayer. He flipped through the Disc Holder until he got to the one labelled ‘Abra’, then inserted it into the Pokeplayer and pressed play. An odd sound came out of its speakers, supposedly to attract Abras.

 

‘Hmm… No thanks, I’m after some pretty specific Pokemon today. But it looks like this little pooch is really up for it, so I’m going to give it a Poke doll to play with’ Mubz replied.

He pulled out a small Clefairy doll and chucked it through the air. It landed next to the Poochyena and then was suddenly taken away between the young pup's fangs.

Mubz then reached into his bag and pulled out a small spray can and spray himself. Then he opened his PokePlayer and started to play the sound of an Abra crying. Joe smiled and turned around however when he turned around a large orange Pokemon stood before Mubz.

"Drowzz" Cried the Pokemon

"Well, want to capture this Drowzee?" Joe said to Mubz

As Mubz stood up, a large orange anteater appeared. He recognised it as Drowzee. 'Drowzzee' it moaned.

"Well, want to capture this Drowzee?" Joe said to Mubz

Mubz sighed. He definitly did not want a Drowzee. 'No thanks. Can we move somewhere different?' he asked as he picked up the Pokeplayer and pressed Play again.

'No thanks. Can we move somewhere different?' Mubz replied as he bent down and picked up the small Pokeplayer and pressing the 'Play' button. A small synthetic sound of Abra rang through the caves of Meteor Valley, trying to attract one.

Joe ushered Mubz down a small track that wondered off into the wild valleys. This wasn't a proper path, but Joe was told that down here strong and wild Pokemon can be found. Below Joe was a small lake with a large waterfall crashing down. Down there was where he met Zorua. A small drop of water trickled down his face as he mentioned the name Zoura. He missed that guy.


The path suddenly ended before a large dark forest that circled the Meteor Valleys. However before they could walk any further, a large human shaped Pokemon appeared. It looked more like a Human crossed with a fox. It held a medium size spoon in one hand and stared towards the group.

'Kadabra, a Psychic Pokémon. The evolved form of Abra. It employs powerful telekinetic attacks.'

Joe looked down and noticed his PokeDex in his pocket scanning the Pokemon, very nifty.

"Well Mubz, I know it's not an Abra, but would you like to battle the Kadabra?" Joe asked.

The artificial sound of the Abra began again. Joe and Mubz left the cave area and went east, towards some valleys. The vegetation here was wild and untamed; as if it hadn’t been tampered with since the beginning of time itself. However running though this was a rough path forged by what Mubz figured was many years of rangers and trainers travelling in the area. They continued walking, and soon Mubz heard the quiet roar of water crashing down. The sound got louder and louder as they walked, and soon enough they were walking alongside a waterfall and a small lake that the water had carved out of the land. Mubz glanced around for a bridge before realising there was none, and so continued walking.

Eventually, the path ended at a dense forest. The Abra disk had also stopped playing. Mubz was about to hit play again when a large Pokemon appeared in front of them. Mubz immediately identified it as a Kadabra, and sure enough Joe’s Pokedex began blaring again, confirming its identity.

‘Well Mubz, I know it's not an Abra, but would you like to battle the Kadabra?’ Joe asked.

Mubz looked at the Kadabra carefully. At first, he thought it had been looking for its child, and was attracted by the Pokeplayer’s sound, but the look in its eyes made it seem as if the Kadabra was looking for a battle.

Mubz had previously owned a Kadabra, which had evolved from an Abra and then went on to evolve into an Alakazam. Unfortunately he had traded it away for his current Gallade, and although he thought that Gallade was terrific he missed his Alakazam, and his primary purpose of coming to the National Park today was to capture an Abra.

‘Definitely,’ Mubz declared and pulled out a Pokeball and threw it, revealing Gallade. Mubz thought it would be fitting that Gallade would help him capture a member of the Abra evolution line. ‘Start up with an Imprison to trap it, and then use Swords Dance!’ Mubz directed. The tactics in this battle were going to be similar to the tactics he would have used against Abra. Abra had a tendency to teleport at the first sight of danger, and Mubz assumed it was a trait shared with Kadabra. Imprison stopped it from using Teleport and also other useful moves like Psychic and Calm Mind. Mubz then hoped Swords Dance would help inflict a lot of damage onto Kadabra, who were very frail in the face of physical attacks.

‘Definitely,’ Mubz declared and pulled out a small red and white Pokeball and threw it, revealing a tall Human like pokemon. It stood upright and sheathed his long green blades. Then he lowered one blade and raised the other, bracing itself for a move.


‘Start up with an Imprison to trap it, and then use Swords Dance!' Mubz said. Gallade immediately shut his eyes and started to focus some psychic power to the end of his blade. Then with a sudden movement Gallade opened his eyes and sent the psychic power directly towards Kadabra. The psychic power hit the chest of Kadabra and dispersed into it's body. Joe stared towards Kadabra and noticed that it didn't take any damage. However as Joe finished his sentance, a light dark rope suddenly appeared and it connected from Gallade and Kadabra. It was almost like they were one with each other.

Joe quickly flicked open his small red notepad and scanned the pages for the letter 'I' As he reached the letter I section, he scanned down the page looking for the move Imprison. Then finally he lay his finger on the page and said to himself. Imprison prevents opponents from using any move which is also known by the user.

It was a good move to use in this situation, Kadabra learned Teleport and had the ability to escape encounters, which show why they are so rare. However most Trainers uses Taunt, which causes the foe to only use attack moves.

Back to the battle and Kadabra held both of his hands out and started to rotate them round in a clockwise motion around a pivot. Then suddenly a feint black orb appeared in between the hands. As Kadabra kept circling the hands, the feint black orb started to get more darker. Then when the moment was right, Kadabra fired the large orb towards Gallade. The orb zoomed past Joe and crashed into the stomach of Gallade. Gallade shrugged the move off and started slash his long green blades through the warm humid air. Gallade swiped faster and faster and soon the long green blades grew bigger in size.

So this is Swords Dance



As Gallade was slashing the air, Kadabra smiled and raise it's hands in the air and then slammed them towards the floor. A large translucent pink barrier appeared before Kadabra. Joe recognized that move as Relfect, a move that halves the power of a psychical move.

This battle just got more interesting.

Gallade focused himself, allowing his psychic powers to become concentrated enough so that he could use them. It looked serene yet incredibly focused at the same time. After a few seconds, Gallade thrust his arms forward, and a faint translucent green pulse burst forward from the space in between and tore towards Kadabra. It hit Kadabra square on the chest and it shattered, dissipating instantly, appearing to have done no damage to the Psi Pokémon. As Kadabra was about to move, a dark rope appeared from its waist, just above the three red waves on his torso. The rope snaked forward and attached itself to Gallade in a similar position.

The Kadabra, bemused by the intriguing move, tried to swipe at the rope with his hand. He went straight through it. Kadabra then turned back towards the battle, apparently unfazed by the move. Kadabra slowly and deliberately raised his right hand as energy began focusing there. He then raised his other hand and began circling both hands around a fixed point where the energy was being concentrated. It took the form of a dark ball that appeared blacker than black. There was no light reflecting off it, as if it was sucking it in like a black hole. Kadabra threw it and as it went through the air, Mubz noticed the ripples on the outline caused by air resistance, showing that it had a sludge-like texture. The attack hit Gallade in the gut and was absorbed into Gallade’s body. He doubled over slightly in pain. It seemed to Mubz that Gallade wouldn’t be able to take many more of them.

Gallade straightened up and began swiping at the air wildly. He swiped faster and faster until his blades were just a green blur. He stopped, and it was clear that his blades had grown. However Kadabra wasn’t accepting it, and raised his hands above his head and then slammed them onto the ground, creating a pink screen. Mubz identified it as Reflect, a move which halves the power of physical attacks. Mubz smiled slightly. This Kadabra was smart. It had essentially cancelled out Swords Dance, but Mubz wasn’t about to let the Psi Pokémon have its way.

‘Gallade, prepare a Brick Break to get rid of that Reflect,’ Mubz instructed. ‘After that, use you Psychic powers to telekinetically grab Kadabra and stop it moving, then put it to sleep with Hypnosis.’ Mubz had used this strategy before on other Pokémon, and it had been very effective as the opponents were essentially incapacitated and therefore an easy target with Hypnosis, but he wasn’t sure how effective it was going to be on Kadabra, who still had its own psychic powers to counter.

 

"Gallade, prepare a Brick Break to get rid of that Reflect,’"Mubz instructed. "After that, use you Psychic powers to telekinetically grab Kadabra and stop it moving, then put it to sleep with Hypnosis."

Gallade leaped into action and started to run towards the Psi Pokémon, who was standing in front of a large pale yellow shield. Gallade, with his large green sword like hands, leaped into the air and directed his hands towards the shield. In a swift motion, he sliced his swords hands through the shield, shattering into hundreds of small pieces. The shattered pieces sliced against the yellow skin of Kadabra.

Kadabra was shifted back a few spaces but managed to overcome the pain. It slowly focused some power into his hands. A soft light blue orb was surrounding its hands and then suddenly, Kadabra fired the orb into the sky. It disappeared amongst the clouds. The clouds turned black and soon loads of small drops of water fell from the sky. The icy cold raindrops dripped down Joe's face.

Gallade watched, with a confused face, his opponent, wondering what would happen next. Nevertheless Gallade carried on with his commands and started to focus some of his own energy. He fixed his eyes on Kadabra and started to move his hands, like he was in some trance. Soon Kadabra was lifted in the air, completely defenseless of any attacks to come. Kadabra was struggling, and Gallade took advantage of this. Whilst he was controlling Kadabra, he fired a large purple beam that swirled its way through the air. As the spiraling beam was about to hit Kadabra, Kadabra started to chant a few words. It was like seeing ancient vudoo magic when you go to some exotic island. Kadabra soon had enough strength to break away from Gallade's control, and put up a force field. The purple spiraling beam collided with the force field and diminished in front of Kadabra.

This was a battle of two psychic superpowers, this battle was not over yet.

"Try putting Kadabra to sleep when it is weaker and hasn't got the strength to prevent it," advised Joe to Mubz. Hopefully he had taken on this advice, because this Kadabra was strong, very strong.
