OOC: welcome to the park! IF you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask.

    Ranger Damian Hikotori

"Whoah," I said, walking into my new office. The room was bigger than I imagined. There was picture frames on the wall, but no pictures. I guessed that I was supposed to put pictures in them, or something like that. I walked over to my large wooden desk, where a new laptop was sitting. Smiling, I plugged in my PokeNav, the updated one of course. I could do just about anything on it.

"Damian, hows a run sound," a voice came over the intercom on my desk. Pressing the button, I replied as calmly as possible.

"Sure," I said. I was so excited on the inside I felt like jumping up and down and start cheering. I calmed myself down quickly, remembering to act as professional as possible.

"Sending to your email now, good luck," the voice continued. I spun around in my office chair and faced my laptop. The email had lots of info, but I tried to pick out the important parts.

"Geoffrey Keeper...Great Lakes....two pokes....yes," I muttered under my breath. I then read the last sentence. "First time into park? yes," I repeated, over and over again. I became even happier at this. I wouldn't have some experienced guy trying to tell me how to do my job on my first run. I did a mini cheer, then hit the DOWNLOAD button. The file was sent to my PokeNav. Picking it up off my desk, I walked downstairs, past the front desk, and out the door.

"So Great Lakes huh?" I muttered to myself. "Ok Wishy, your taking me," I continued, holding up a pokeball. The sphere opened, shooting out a red beam. The red beam shot forward and formed into a Togekiss. "Girl, Great Lakes," I said, hopping onto Wishy's back.

She shot forward, and we flew at an amazing speed. I felt the air flying past us, and my eyes were watering up. We quickly arrived however. Looking down, I saw the many lakes, scattered out among the area. We landed at the ranger outpost, closest to the large freshwater lake. Hopping off of my bird's back, I returned her to her ball, and pulled out another pokeball.

"Ok Kipper, come on buddy," I said. I knew that Kipper would most likely not be battling, but I still wanted a pokemon out to be safe. I then stood there and looked out at the lake, waiting for my trainer to arrive.

Me and my Charizard, Xander, soared high above the clouds, avoiding the salty waters of the ocean. We were on our way to the National Park, a place where trainers could go to the different areas there and catch many different types of rare and exotic Pokémon.

Today, I was headed to the Great Lakes to catch one of the many water Pokémon, it was my younger sister Alice's birthday soon and my parents had sent me out to catch something for her. Why they couldn't have just bought her something and saved me the effort I'll never know, but oh well.

After a few minutes of flying, we eventually arrived at the Great Lakes section of the National Park and headed towards the Ranger Outpost to find the person who'd be my guide for my run through. I patted my huge orange dragon on his scaled neck, ushered words of thanks and praise to him and returned him to his Pokéball. The outpost didn't look too big, so I didn't want to cause any trouble by bringing him in.

With that, I walked in. The walls were lined with picture frames of people and the Pokémon they'd caught and various other photos. An employee of the month section had several photos of different rangers and such. There was a small sofa tucked away in the corner and at themain desk sat a rather happy looking receptionist.

“Hey,” I said to her, trying to put on a friendly tone, “My names Geoffrey Keeper. I'm here to catch some Pokémon in the Great Lakes? I sent my application in a couple of days ago.”

“One second... Ah, here it is! Your Ranger for the tour will Damian Hikotori, he should be waiting for you at the Lakes now.” She told me, pointing towards the door. “Just go through here and through the main gates.”

“Thanks,” I said as I walked out. With that, I walked through the wooden door and pushed my way through the heavy iron gates. Along the horizon, I could see several huge lakes that reflected the bright sunshine, hurting my eyes slightly. Treading softly along the sand, I approached a boy who had a Swampert standing next to him who I assumed to be my Ranger.

“Hey, you must be Damian, right?” I asked, putting my hand out for him to shake it.

Kipper and I stood there, watching the Pokemon in the lakes. I hear a thud about ten feet to my right, which most likely meant that the main gates shut, indicating a trainer. I looked over to see a trainer walking with no Pokemon out of their pokeballs. I motioned for Swampert to follow me, then walked over. "Hey, you must be Damian, right?" he asked me. The boy then held out his hand.

"Yep, that's me," I said, shaking his hand. "This is Kipper," I said, motioning to my Swampert. "Before we begin, I'm not gonna lie to you, this is my first run, so I'm probably as nervous on you. Let's not waste any time then," I said, starting to walk off along the shoreline. I tried to keep talking, as to be friendly with my trainer. "We're gonna walk along the shore for now, but if you ever want to go out surfing, as long as you have a Pokemon with surf, we can," I explained.

We hadn't walked more than 50 feet when I saw the first pokemon. There was a dark blue spot in the water, coming in from the middle of the lake. The shape grew bigger as it got closer to the shore. A head popped out of the water, and I recognized it instantly. The head was a white seal-like one. A Seel!

I turned and looked at Geoffery. "Looks like this little guy wants to be your first encounter, do you want to battle him?" I asked. I wondered if my first encounter in the park as a ranger was going to be a catch.

“Yep, that's me,” he said, shaking my hand. “This is Kipper,” and he pointed towards his Swampert. Damian told me about how this was his first run as a Ranger, which made me wonder whether or not he'd been in the park as a trainer. He admitted that he was kind of nervous. At least he was honest.

We walked no further than fifty feet before I came across my first encounter. A dark blue spot in the water came towards the shore from the centre of the lake and the shape became larger and larger. Eventually, a white head popped out from the water with a long pink tongue hanging out of its mouth and a white horn poking out of the top of its head. A Seel, I thought to myself, Alice might not like one of those. They're strong, but she said she wanted something cute.

“Looks like this little guy wants to be your first encounter,” Damian said as he turned to look at me, “Do you want to battle him?”

As I was about to decline, a blast of freezing cold water hit me in the face, and that was when I decided. I would catch the little prankster and teach it some manners. And plus, that kind of hurt.
“Alright then, Damian. I'll battle it. No one gets away with squirting me in the face!” I called out angrily as I plucked my Metagross' Pokéball from my belt and threw it gently towards the sound. With a light bounce and a soft thud, Al was released from his Pokéball in a flash of white light. A large blue Pokémon that resembled a steel spider stood before me, a silver x-shape on its face. With a determined look on its face, it waited eagerly for its command.

“Alright, Al, lift him out of the water with Psychic!” My tone sounded slightly angry, I was still a bit annoyed from being shot in the face.

    BP-1: Metagross vs Seel

    Ranger Damian Hikotori

    @MidnightGhost;

Geoffery seemed to ponder the idea of catching this Seel. After a few minutes, the Seel must have gotten bored, because it blasted my trainer in the face with a splash of water. Geoffery's expression seemed to change to anger in a flash. I almost chuckled, but at the same time I almost felt bad for Seel, knowing that my trainer had two really powerful pokemon with him.

"All right then Damian, I'll catch him. No one gets away with squirting me in the face!" Geoffery yelled.I almost chuckled, but kept myself quiet, knowing it might make the situation worse.

Geoffery pulled a pokeball from his belt, and threw it angrily into the air. The pokeball flashed, shooting out a red beam. The beam shot forward, flying through the air very quickly. The red beam then hit the ground, forming into a giant Steel pokemon. The pokemon had a giant X on its head, and four giant arms. A Metagross.

"Alright, Al, lift him out of the water with a psychic!" my trainer yelled, obviously angry from being shot in the face. I wondered what the plan would be, by my trainer only commanding his pokemon to lift the Seel into the air.

Metagross listened though. His eyes started to glow a bright pink, and then Seel became almost frozen like. It slowly rose into the air, then hung above the water about five feet.

The seel squirmed, obviously not liking its new levitation. I could also tell that Seel took a tiny bit of damage, but not much. It managed to raise its small head though, and shoot a blast of water at metagross. A water gun.

    Battle Stats

    Metagross vs Seel
    Metagross 95%(used psychic)
Seel 98%, in the air(used Water Gun)

Metagross' eyes glowed with a pink, eerie aura as he lifted the Seel out from the water and held him there, waiting for its next order.

The Seel began to squirm in mid air, obviously not enjoying its new-found spot in the air. It shot a blast of water at Al, hitting him square in the face. He gave a wince, but still held the water Pokémon in the air. In the corner of my eye, a saw a couple of trees growing tall in a small clearing and swaying gently in the breeze. Some small Pokémon hopped happily in the grass whilst several species of bird Pokémon sat on the branches chirping cheerily. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the mischievous Seel.

“Smash him into the trees, Al, and don't let up!” I shouted over to him, my anger fading. Slowly, but building up speed, he brought the Pokémon over to the cluster of trees.

Geoffery thought about his next move carefully. I watched, and saw his gaze drift to some trees not to far from us. There were pokemon all around them, and I gulped. "Im sorry Seel," I whispered underneath my breath.

“Smash him into the trees, Al, and don't let up!” Geoffery commanded. I watched how this was going to turn out.

"Meta-meta-METAGROOOOOSSSSS!" Al yelled, shooting Seel through the air. The seel tumbled and rolled, trying to stop moving. I closed my eyes and heard a thud as the Seel slammed into a tree. He bounced back, and was slammed again, and again, and again. I slowly opened my eyes, only to see Seel hanging in midair. Al's eyes were fading back to normal, and Seel was slowly falling to the ground.

The Seel fell to the ground and collapsed, obviously hurt and exhausted. The small creature slowly lifted itself off of the ground, looking at Al. Seel then short forward at a blinding speed, water around his whole body. I recognized this attack as Aqua Jet.

Flying forward, Seel lowered his head, and slammed into Al. Al flipped backwords, tumbling in the air, and slammed into the ground. I knew that this attack had to hurt him. Looking to Geoffery, I wondered how he would respond to this.

Metagross let out a roar of its name and slammed the Seel into the trees several times, each time Damian winced. He would have to get used to my all-out attacking style of battling, otherwise we might not get very far.

The pink aura in Metagross' eyes faded and it let the Sea Lion Pokémon fall to the floor with a loud thump. It was obviously hurt, and a sly grin spread across my face. Shows him for spraying me with water, I thought to myself, quite happy about the way I had went about exacting my revenge but still felt kind of sorry for the little guy. He only looked young, and that must have hurt.

Then it jumped up, snapping me out of my thoughts, and began flying towards Al at an incredible speed. It was coated in crystal blue water and I recognised the attack as an Aqua Jet. There was no way Al would be able to dodge in time. Seel crashed into him, and he winced in pain. Steel was weak to water, and the last thing I wanted was one of my buddies to rust away into nothing.

“Ah quickly Al, smash him away with Meteor Mash! Make sure ya hit him hard, buddy!” I called out to the iron giant, he was never really much of a close combat fighter. Metagross usually preferred to fight from afar with blasts of psychic energy and only ever getting physical if necessary. I crossed my fingers and hoped for my Pokémon's safety. He didn't look to badly injured, but anything could happen to make things take a turn for the worse.

    BP-3 Metagross vs Seel

    Ranger Damian Hikotori

    @MidnightGhost;

Meagross quickly flipped upright again and looked to Geoffery for commands. Geoffery also thought quickly, and I knew things weren't going to turn out well for this poor Seel.
“Ah quickly Al, smash him away with Meteor Mash! Make sure ya hit him hard, buddy!" Geoffery commanded. I gulped again. The steel giant raced forward at an astonishing speed. I watched intensely, wanting to see how big of a punch this beast packed.

Approaching the small, pitiful Seel, the steel giant dropped one arm, then brought it forward quickly. The giant arm hit the Seel, and he let out a scream in pain. The same thing happened with the other arm. Then it repeated. Over and over, slamming the small creature. Finally, the barrage of attacks ended when the Seel flew backwards, end over end, tumbling. The Seel then hit the ground with a thud.

I also watched the Seel intensely, wanting to see how it responded to the attack. "Seel!" the small creature yelled out. It jumped up, pulling its head back. It then flicked it's head forward, shooting a large orb of water. This was Water Pulse. An attack that could also confuse the opponent. The water flew forward and slammed the Metagross. Metagross stumbled backwards, and looked back to Seel. Looking at Al's eyes, I could tell that he wasn't confused. This was lucky for Geoffery.

"Now would be a good time to try for a catch if you want this pokemon," I said.

Metagross bought down one huge blue steel arm and punched the Seel over and over, each hit looking more painful than the last. The Sea Lion Pokémon's scream pierced through my ears, it was not a pleasant sound. I did feel sorry for the creature, but that's how Pokémon grow and evolve. They learn more from their experiences and hardships than we humans do, so really this battle would benefit him. That didn't really ease my mind though, so I began to think about which attack to use next. The Seel looked extremely worn down and tired so I didn't want to go overkill on it. Then again, the little prankster did squirt me in the face with water. Why should I feel sorry for him? He was practically begging me to battle him.

Damian broke my chain of thought when he told me “Now would be a good time to try for a catch if you want this Pokémon.”

I thought about it quickly, and decided I'd pass on catching him. So for now, my only other option was to finish the poor little guy off. Oh well.

“Al, finish him off with Meteor Mash... But don't go overkill on him! I feel sorry for the poor thing, having some big metal hulking beast invading its territory and beating the snot out of it.” A sad frown flashed across my face for a second, and feeling guilty once more, I sent Al forward to commence his attack. He rushed ahead, his giant steel arms raised up high above its disc-like body.

OOC: short one because end of encounter.

Geoffery quickly accessed the situation, then came up with a choice. “Al, finish him off with Meteor Mash... But don't go overkill on him! I feel sorry for the poor thing, having some big metal hulking beast invading its territory and beating the snot out of it.” Geoffery said. I felt better knowing that the trainer did care a little about the wild pokemon.

Al shot forward and began slamming the poor creature again. By the fourth or fifth hit, Seel flew back into the lake and went under. I watched the water intensely for any sign of the Seel returning to the surface. Nothing happened though.

Turning to Geoffery, I had to decide what to say. "Well, we can continue whenever your ready. Unless you wanna go diving for that Seel," I said with a chuckle. Looking at Kipper, I said something to him to. "Well buddy, the first battle in the park we watched instead of being in," I said. Kipper nodded, staring out into the water.

Damian looked relieved that I had shown some sort of care for the Seel by telling Metagross not to go over the top on the finishing blow. The final attack from Metagross sent the Sea Lion Pokémon flying back into the lake with a large splash, but not big enough to wet me and Damian.

My Ranger turned to me and said “ Well, we can continue whenever you're ready. Unless you wanna go diving for that Seel,” and with a light chuckle, he turned to Kipper and said something to him which I didn't quite catch. Couldn't have been important.

“Hehe, I don't have any water Pokémon with me and I don't really think he'd want me to catch him. I've put the little Seel through enough trouble already,” I explained to him with a smile.

I turned to my Metagross and decided that Al had worked hard in that battle, and he always liked a bit of praise. So I patted him on his favourite spot, which was on the centre of the cross on his face. and gave him some reassuring words of encouragement.

“Ready to move on now?” Damian asked me, and with a swift nod of my head, I pointed in the direction of the trees and we were off again. I could use those to my advantage if I needed to again, but I don't think Damian would be too happy if I did that. I didn't want to make my Ranger angry and get banned on my first Park run. My parents would have gone mad if I returned home empty handed and banned.

“Hehe, I don't have any water Pokémon with me and I don't really think he'd want me to catch him. I've put the little Seel through enough trouble already,” he explained to me, smiling.

I laughed at this, glad that my trainer was having a good run. Geoffery patted Metagross, or Al, on the cross of the X. I smiled, happy that this guy had respect for his pokemon.

GEoffery pointed towards the trees and took off towards that direction. I followed, but kept close to the lake in case I saw any pokemon. After we walked about 30 feet, I spotted an oddly shaped stone just off the shore. It was yellow, and perfectly round.

"Hey, wait up Geoffery," I said. Walking over to the edge of the shore, I stepped out onto the rock. The rock was soft, which I found weird. "Hey Kipper, come check th-" I was cut short. The rock moved and went under the water, and I fell in. I hit the water with a splash. Going under. I swam as quickly as I could to the shore.

Pulling myself out, Kipper was already in the water looking for that rock. I tried to smile and shrug it off, but I kept my eyes glued on the water, mad at whatever that rock was.

Pretty soon, a flash shot out of the water. It was a yellow streak in the air, and it fell to a thud at Geoffery's feet. The yellow blob was apparently a pokemon head. Looking at the rest of the pokemon, I saw a bill, two webbed feet, and two short, stubby arms. The whole body was yellow.

"Oh brother," I muttered, looking at the Psyduck. Looking up to Geoffery, I was mad at the duck. "You wanna battle this thing? If you don't, I'm gonna," I said, watching Kipper move in behind me, pounding his fists together.

As I started to walk off towards the small clearing, Metagross following protectively by my side. Damian walked along with me but kept closer to the shore, on the lookout for any Pokémon that I could battle and attempt to catch.

“Hey, wait up, Geoffrey,” he called out to me as I turned to face him. He stepped over to a rock on the edge of the shore, it looked strange. The rock was round in shape and completely yellow. Weird lookin' rock, I thought to myself, be funny if he falls in. I chuckled, I couldn't help it but that was kind of a mean thing to think about. So long as I didn't say anything to him, he wouldn't hate me.

I heard him start to speak and he was cut off as the 'rock' moved out from underneath his feet and he fell in with a loud splash. As he went under little bit, panic flashed across my face. When he surfaced though, I burst into a fit of laughter, probably scaring away half the Pokémon in the park. That was just too funny.

He climbed out of the water and his Swampert was already looking for the rock. Damian looked peeved off and he kept his eyes glued to the water, scanning for whatever it was that had decided to take him for a swim.

A couple minutes later, something yellow flew through the air and landed at my feet which caught me off guard and made me jump a little. Metagross stood in front of me protectively as a yellow Pokémon with a bill and two large webbed feet stood in front of me. It had one of the dopiest expressions on its face as he clutched his head with two short stubby arms. Psyduck were known to be victims of terrible headaches and I almost felt sorry for the poor guy, had he not looked completely ridiculous. I wanted to start laughing again, but then Damian caught my attention when he started speaking again.

“Oh brother,” he muttered to himself, turning to look at me, water dripping from his clothes. “You wanna battle this thing? If you don't, I'm gonna,” he said as Kipper moved behind him, grinding his fists together.

“Uh sure, I guess. If I remember correctly, I think Alice said something about a Psyduck. So I think I'll battle this one if it's alright? You can torment him all you want after I'm done, Damian,” I said to him with a sly grin, laughing as several different scenarios of my Ranger playing tricks on the Psyduck played through my head. I wasn't sure if Damian was the mischievous type, but I can sure as hell imagine it.

“I don't really want to send Xander out yet, Al, so do you think you can battle for me again? It's okay if you can't,” I was concerned for my Pokémon. After all, he did just finish up battling with that Seel not too long ago.

“Meta, Meta-gross!” He called out confidently, confirming that he was well and fit to battle.

“Alright then, lets start off with Bullet Punch this time, Al! Try not to KO him though, I wanna catch it!” I commanded my Pokémon as it rushed forward, its large blue arms glowing with a silver light.

    BP-1 Metagross vs Psyduck

    Ranger Damian Hikotori

“Uh sure, I guess. If I remember correctly, I think Alice said something about a Psyduck. So I think I'll battle this one if it's alright? You can torment him all you want after I'm done, Damian,” Geoffery said to me. I smiled, glad that he wanted to catch this pokemon. I also wondered who Alice was though. Maybe a relative, or even a girlfriend of the sorts. Oh well, it wasn't my duty as a Ranger to know these things.

“I don't really want to send Xander out yet, Al, so do you think you can battle for me again? It's okay if you can't,” Geoffery said, sounding concerned. The Metagross gave him a determined look.

Meta, Meta-gross!" he yelled. I smiled, liking this pokemon's excitement about battling.

“Alright then, lets start off with Bullet Punch this time, Al! Try not to KO him though, I wanna catch it!” Geoffery yelled, obviously wanting to deal some serious damage to this pokemon. I decided while my Trainer did this, I would stand in the sun and try to dry up some.

Metagross charged forward, preparing a strike. His arm came back, and his fist began to glow a brilliant silver. Throwing it forward, it slammed into the poor duck. Psyduck tumbled backwards, lettig out a cry of pain.

The little yellow duck jumped to it's feet quickly, then stared at Metagross. "Psy-Psy-PSYDUCK!" the small creature yelled. The duck ran towards Metagross, it's hands covering its head. The duck ran, gaining absolutely NO speed as it ran. I watched in anticipation as the duck neared the metal beast. Suprisingly though, the duck kept running. It didn't even come close to touching the Metagross. The duck ran and ran, splashing into the lake and staying under the water. My head spun, wondering what attack this pokemon was using. I then looked at my trainer, wondering how he would repsond to this.

    @KantoMasta;

Metagross slammed its glowing arm down heavily onto the small yellow duck, sending it flying backwards slightly. The Psyduck let out a cry of its name as it stood back up onto its webbed feet, clasping its head. His face was scrunched up in pain, it still looked absolutely ridiculous, and I just wanted to laugh at it.

Then, the little yellow duck began running towards Metagross and I, and we both stood there, flabbergasted. That things got guts, I thought to myself, either that or its absolutely insane. Running towards something almost three times the size of it, that's just punched it a couple feet back.

It kept on running and running, gaining no speed at all. If anything, the Psyduck looked like it was getting slower. Al turned and looked at me, and we both burst into laughter. Or at least what looked like a laugh from a steel type Pokémon. The small duck ran straight past us both and dived into the water and kept diving deeper and deeper, further out into the lake. My laughter died out, I was still confused as to what the Psyduck's strategy was. Maybe it was trying to run away.

Metagross turned back to the water, waiting for a command. I was thinking of bringing it back out of the water, and Al must have picked up on my thoughts. With him being a psychic Pokémon, he could do that easily. The steel type's eyes began to glow a light purple again as he searched the water to bring out the duck.

“When you bring it out with Psychic, throw it away from the water and hit it with Bullet Punch again!”

I turned my back to the water, no longer concerned with the cowardly duck and instead began speaking to Damian. “Do you reckon it's trying to run away, or something?" I asked him.

A new ranger had just requested that he be relieved of his current run out on the Great Lakes. Of the eight or so rangers that did the runs I was one of the two on call for the day. I typed in that I would take the park run and grabbed my equipment from the walls in my office. I made sure that I had everything ready to go, called out my Alakazam, and him teleport me to the place where Damian Hikotori was waiting with his trainer.

In the space of a second I was whisked from office to the open and watery range of the Great Lakes. I arrived just in time to see a Metagross and Psyduck battling it out against one another. I exchanged greetings with Damian and turned to the battle, I would introduce myself to the trainer after the battle.

I owned a Metagross and a Golduck, the evolved form of Psyduck, so I wanted to see how the battle would shape out. The Metagross’s eyes were glowing a rich purple, indicating it was drawing on its Psychic abilities, but I didn’t spot the Metagross using its powers on the Psyduck, which meant that it was searching for the Pokemon. Suddenly, from the lake in front of Metagross, Psyduck surfaced from the water like a jet. Surrounded by a cloak of water. the Psyduck rammed Metagross in its face. I heard a ringing from this distance and knew that Psyduck had landed a solid hit.

Before it could retreat, though, the Metagross lashed out with a clawed fist, striking the Psyduck on its bill and sending the Pokemon reeling. Psyduck stumbled back and squawked its outrage at the Steel type. This would be an interesting fight indeed.
