@Ace Trainer Liam; Random note but the mons you keep in your sign-up as captured should have natures listed too, since that's the main point of the tracker considering natures can't be changed if the mon was caught in the park.

Also you need to choose one ability to use for your Pokemon before we proceed.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy rubbed at her eyes, wincing at the desk lamp that was glaring painful light into her office. That was the thing about closets-turned-offices—they weren't in prime locations. She didn't have any windows, so the place was dark regardless of what time it was.

The Ranger glanced at the clock in the corner of her computer monitor. It was only about one in the afternoon. Good. That meant she'd only been here about thirty-one hours straight then. Only another nine or so to go, if she didn't find something pressing to stay for. It was getting harder and harder to leave the office these days.

Eventually, she put her pen down and rubbed her temples, pushing away from the desk and turning her chair to avoid the light. On the couch next to her, Haji was sleeping away, tail tucked neatly around him. He appeared to be sleeping, but his psychic powers were as such that he could multitask. That hadn't been the case for her, though. She couldn't sleep here.

Problem was, she couldn't go home either. Something had gone wrong with the pipes in her apartment—in the whole complex, actually, so they'd told everyone to get out while repairs were being done. A lot of people were staying in Centers, with people they knew, or hotels, but Ivy had a place to go—sort of.

    But she hated that house.

It wasn't like she didn't need the extra money anyway, putting in all the extra time. But it was starting to wear on her. Her eyes nearly burned; she didn't want to see what she looked like. She could imagine the dark circles.

She tapped her fingers on the desk surface lightly. She really didn't want to go back to paperwork. That was about the worst thing to do when tired. The higher ups would probably have a good laugh when they saw some of it.

Haji's awareness flicked across her mind—he wasn't as asleep as he appeared. She knew what he was going to say before his words sounded in her head. “We could go to the house—”

“No thanks,” she answered, stubbornly. Ivy even crossed her arms. She'd rather sleep in this dark, cramped room than go to what was once her childhood house. She really needed to sell that thing.

Then, a notification went off on her computer. Tiredly she rolled her chair closer and inspected. Someone wanted to go to the Beach. “Sun and fresh air, I'm sure that'll help,” she said somewhat sarcastically.

Still, she rose and started to gather supplies to go out in the field. It had to be better than sitting in here. Haji watched, and when she was ready, followed her out the door and then out of the main outpost.

Outside, it was cloudy with not a speck of blue sky peeking through. In fact, as they neared the Beach area, some of the clouds grew darker. The wind dropped a little bit temperature-wise too. Maybe it was going to rain.

“Great day for a swim,” Ivy commented. Within their link, Haji's amusement came across. At least someone liked her jokes.

Still, despite the wind and the gray day, there was something peaceful about the water and the sand and all the open spaces. Maybe she did need a little fresh air after all, even if that would make tonight's shift difficult.

She found the bench by the area's outpost and took a seat, doing her best to stay focused and not doze off when there was work to be done. Haji watched her although he tried to do it subtly. Ivy could still feel it through their bond, though. He was worried about her.

    So was she some days.

@WinterVines Oh hah! That would only make sense, huh? Log/tracker updated! Also I'll choose Natural Cure for Calypso, Dry Skin for Xolotl, and Unburden for Sinhar Aja (also, side note, but it's O'Regan, not O'Reagen :x ).

Dark locks of hair curled over the ocean blue eyes of Liam, yet they did not impair his view of the large, bulbous clouds that hung in the sky. He could tell he was getting closer to the sea from the types of clouds that brew a salty wind. He inhaled a full lungs worth of the beach air through his sharp nose and exhaled with a bleached smile. Nothing soothed his soul more than the crisp atmosphere of the outdoors.

His white dress shirt, with sleeves bunched up, a few top buttons undone, and wrinkling over his eggshell beach shorts, were in contrast with his now bronzed skin. Since his last time at the park in Mt. Deckbi, Liam has interned at the Humilau gym in Unova where he received his sun-kissed skin and a wonderful resume to the Gym Leader position in Cerulean. There he misses being seaside, but has found enhancing the aquarium as a wonderful pastime.

Thus he's decided to return to the Park to obtain some water types, or other types, to put in his collection and/or gym; as well as to go on a vacation/adventure and escape the smog of the city and visit an area he often daydreams of: the sandy front of an ocean.

He didn't mind the overcast, or getting up early to hike to the main gate; it was all apart of his adventure and he loved every second of it. Dangling around his neck was still the string holding a Pokeball where his first, and favorite, Pokemon resided: Calypso the Starmie. However, he had with him two Pokemon new to the park. A thin utility belt, fed through one of the belt loops of his beach shorts, hung in a slant on his waist where the two Pokeballs were latched.

A yellow and black lizard ran up the back of Liam and sat on top of his old, patched-up, canvas backpack. “I think we've just arrived, Xolotl,” Liam said as the Heliolisk hissed playfully, basking in the dimmed sun of the day.

Sure enough, just like last time, as Liam approached the main gate, a ranger was there to greet him. She, however, looked dreadfully tired; Liam was almost worried, but his eagerness burst through before he could think too much longer.

“Hi there!” he began as he shot out a hand to shake, “I'm Liam, and you two are...?” He saw the Espeon near the ranger and was pleased to see it did not look as worn out as its trainer did.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Despite the clouds, Ivy could still hear the faint breeze of the beaches, just like it was any other normal day. Wasn't as warm though, which didn't bother her due to the turtleneck and the canvas vest. It wanted to lull her to sleep, but she had to ignore it.

Thankfully, the Trainer didn't take long.

Perhaps maybe fifteen minutes or so since she and Haji sat down, the Espeon alerted her through thought of someone approaching. If that mental message startled her awake a little, nobody had to know.

In preparation, she rose and stretched her arms high above her head. When her back popped, a flash of relaxation went through her but also made her more awake. Even being outside for a few minutes had made her feel better, more alert. Or maybe that was the onset of having a job to do. Either way, she was standing when the Trainer appeared down the path.

At first she could only see basic things—the contrast of his dark hair to his white shirt and khakis. But as he got closer, she could see that he was fairly tanned too. His demeanor sort of reminded her of a surfer, perhaps. Not that she spent a lot of time at the beach. She was tanned only because of her numerous outdoor explorations, but her lineage sported by her red hair ensured that she would never really tan super dark.

The other thing she noticed was a pale lizard hanging off of the young man's backpack—a nearly three foot lizard. The Trainer looked a little strained in his walking due to the weight, but he came forward, giving his Pokemon a free ride. She estimated that the Pokemon probably weighed a quarter or third of his own weight, but it was sort of amusing to watch. Sort of reminded her of a Trainer who tried to let an Espeon always ride in his coat, not realizing that two feet of bulk was a little awkward. Haji, who was slightly smaller for his kind, couldn't even do that.

When he approached, the Trainer immediately greeted them and introduced himself as Liam. “And you two are..?” he trailed off.

“Haji,” she said, motioning toward the Psychic-type. “And I'm Ivy, the Ranger.”

Introductions made, she looked about her one more time. The sky hadn't really improved. In fact, was it a little darker than before?

“Not a super great day weather-wise,” she commented, surveying the environment. “But it might brighten up.” Just then, a breeze picked up and ruffled her hair. It was a little chilly. “Then again, it just might rain too. Hope you're ready for anything,” she added as she laughed a little.

With a motion of her arm, she beckoned the two new arrivals to follow she and Haji. They trekked away from the solid ground and embarked into the sand, although their path was still strewn with wispy grasses. They hedged the water, not too far down into the sand that would make it hard to walk, but eventually they'd have to abandon the hills as they got into deeper lake territory.

There were pieces of driftwood and scattered rocks here and there, but otherwise, this area was pretty open. There would be pockets of foliage surrounding things like lakes, but that was in another area of the Park entirely. They were still connected, though, and some of the environment bleed through to both of them.

They were starting to leave the grassy area, where the hills bobbed up and down unevenly before they fizzled out into the sand, when Ivy turned back and asked, “So, what are you looking—”

She was cut off, however, as Haji's mental warning made her stop and jerk as a small rock went whizzing by her toward the Trainer.

As Ivy waved them on, Liam smiled as Xolotl gave an approving hiss and furled his frill. They followed at a relaxed distance behind Ivy as Liam was trying to take in the scenery and enjoy every moment, but strained slightly from carrying Xolotl upon his shoulders. He looked up to the dreary sky at Ivy's mention of rain and smiled. Rain or shine, Liam was going to enjoy the beach, there was no stopping him; although, if it got any chillier, he might have to take out a sweater from him backpack, and any much colder than that and then he'd fear for his Pokemon and legs safety!

Ivy regained his attention as he started asking him a question, but cut her speech off, grabbing Liam's full notice. A small rock had just flown past Ivy and right toward Liam! There wasn't much time to act, and not much he could do! Dodging would be too difficult if he didn't want to throw himself on the ground due to Xolotl's extra weight, Xolotl could execute a proper attack in time to hit the rock, so there was only one thing Liam thought sensible.

Liam grabbed Xolotl with both of his hands, swung him over his shoulder, tucked Xolotl and himself underneath his own body, and twisted to show his back to the rock as it pelted his upper shoulder. He dropped Xolotl to the ground as the electric basilisk turned to his injured trainer.

“I'm alright,” Liam said as he rubbed his shoulder, sore from the impact, “but stay alert Xolotl, I don't think Mother Nature was behind that assault.” Liam looked around his surroundings: grassy fields, bit of rocks, driftwood; this clearly was land that would be underwater at night as the tide came him, depositing minerals and materials from the sea. Xolotl stayed close to Liam, also craning his neck to spot the offender.

“I'm fine!” Liam called to his Ranger who looked concerned. “You okay though? Where, or what, did that come from, do you think?”

With little warning, Liam couldn't really avoid the rock. Instead, he turned, making Xolotl drop to the ground and be protected by the Trainer's hunching from.

    Ding!

The rock hit the Trainer's shoulder with an audible thwap, but it didn't really do enough damage to send him sprawling or anything—it was just a tiny rock after all. But still, something had thrown it, something that none of them could immediately see.

The Heliolisk tilted his head at Liam. “I'm all right,” the Trainer reassured his Pokemon. “But stay alert, Xolotl.”

It definitely hadn't been random. As far as Ivy knew, rocks didn't normally just fall out of the sky.

“A Pokemon, most likely,” Ivy confirmed. “Despite how blank it looks, there are a lot of places for things to hide out here. Be sure to look carefully, unless you want to book it?”

She took a few steps, trying to spy what it was. Sure, she could just ask Haji, who clearly knew where the critter was from his psychic ability to sense other lifeforms. But that would be cheating.

Suddenly, her boot sank about half a foot into a seemingly-hidden hole. The sand had just given away even though it appeared to be covered, sliding her leg into murky water, likely left over from the night before. It was about a food in diameter too, now that she saw the sand falling away. If there were more of those, it would be super easy for a smaller Pokemon to hide in them, to ambush trespassers.

“I don't think it's anything too dangerous,” she said. “It wouldn't fit in these holes, or wherever it happens to be.” She didn't think anything invisible could be lurking here—although maybe something was pretty good at camouflage.

Ivy got her boot out of the muck and shook it off. The darker sand was very stark against the gentle yellows, even in the poor cloudy-sky light. There would likely be more pockets of water around too. It was like the holes the Dwebble dug in the forest. They could twist an ankle if not careful.

However, as she was wiping the chunks of sand off her leg that stuck to the fabric by her ankles, she noticed that the water was not exactly staying in the hole. It slowly was trickling out, almost like a tiny snake slithering across the sand. When she turned around, several other mini streams were starting to do the same.

They were all directionally heading toward the Trainer and his Pokemon, albeit slowly.

“Liam,” she began, but unsure of what to warn him about. “Watch out for the water. If we're not getting out of here, we should find the Pokemon quickly.”

Liam was watching the holes as the water began snaking its way toward them. He pondered what kind of Pokemon could manipulate water like this as well as fling a rock toward him. Ivy had warned him about either leaving, or finding the Pokemon out quickly; he headed her advise and turned to Xolotl.

“Hey, buddy,” he began, smiling at his frilled, electric lizard, “try to block some of the water by setting up a Light Screen, then give an Eerie Impulse to shake whatever's out there out of hiding, what do you say?”

Xolotl smirked and rattled his frill in anticipation. He skittered forward ahead of Liam ready for battle. With a moment of concentration followed by an expulsion of learned psychic energy, Xolotl attempted to set up a Light Screen to delay or block the ensuing water. Then, taking in a large breath, and with frill open and trembling, Xolotl bellowed forth a high pitched, nail-on-chalkbaord like electric sound wave that rippled toward the ground near the holes.

Liam watched the holes carefully, expecting to see some water/rock type, or maybe some water Pokemon with arms or a tail that could toss a rock.

    @Ace Trainer Liam;

    NBP#4

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Liam couldn't stand there and do nothing—not when something lurking around here seemed interested in him. Eventually curiosity won out; she'd learned that from the Park fairly early on in her career. With only the venturing Trainers to mix up the wild Pokemon's routine, most of them wanted to see what was up when strangers came around.

The Trainer turned to his Heliolisk who was much more alert now that things were happening. He commanded a Light Screen and Eeriee impulse to try to drag the culprit out of hiding.

There were a couple of ways to use the moves. This time, the lizard got in front of his Trainer in an alert, defensive position, flicking his neck ruffles as he focused energy in front of them, in case a Pokemon should assault them head-on. Ivy could barely see the nearly-invisible energy forming a protective pane in front of them, almost like glass. It helped that it was pretty cloudy—bright sunshine made it even harder to see except when it glistened.

The water didn't really seem phased much by this; it continued its slow trickle. Although Ivy hadn't really expected it to. It was still on the ground after all, running in small rivulets.

What the Heliolisk did next got better results. Ivy stepped away as she heard the command—slightly up the hill a little, to get off of the sand immediately near the water.

With a low screech, Xolotl made a sound that turned into energy, fizzling out into tiny sparks as it fanned out. It wasn't meant to hurt, not really. It was more like the shocks you got when your hair was staticky and you touched a doorknob—startling, but not debilitating. It often surprised a Pokemon into not attacking as hard; almost like a sucker punch stealing the wind before the big hit.

But it was still electricity and there was still water about. Ivy was not surprised when there was a gurgling screech and something rolled out of one of the holes nearby.

With its tongue lolling out, a little clam rolled so it was back on its feet, facing the newcomers. It narrowed its eyes for a second and shook its tongue, as if blowing them raspberries. Then, the water on the ground began to move. Sort of like a summer-time sprinkler, the water drew up and danced around like the fancy water shows.

It sort of flung itself at the Trainer—but not that hard. Some of it was caught by the Light Screen, but it hadn't been designed to hit that hard, sort of like the rock. Instead, the whirling water that had grown feet into the air sort of cut off and dropped on Liam.

Essentially dumping a lot of water on him but not hurting he nor Xolotl.

With a barely audible sound, Ivy could've sworn she heard that raspberry sound again.

“Well,” she said, crossing her arms. “It seems we've a bit of a prankster on our hands.”

Even after Xolotl's Impulse, the Ranger could still spot some minor water movement still, as if it still had some tricks planned.

    Crackle – Zap!

As Xolotl's Eerie Impulse bounced around the ground, a Pokemon came rolling out from its hiding place.

“Oh, a Shellder!” Liam exclaimed, “This is exactly the kind of Pokemon I was hoping to encounter here!”

But just then the water the Shellder had been building up, dumped over Liam and Xolotl. He heard a loud raspberry being blown soon after.

“It seems we've a bit of a prankster on our hands,” Ivy said.

Liam shook some of the water out of his black curls and began to laugh, “Ahahaha! Great Pokemon, great sense of humor!”

Xolotl too shook some of the water off of him. Liam was anxious to catch the Shellder, but took a breath to keep a cool head. “No need in rushing things,” he thought, “this little shenani-clam isn't going anywhere.” He smirked at his in-head pun.

“Okay buddy,” Liam began to say to Xolotl, “let's try to slow this guy up with a little, huh?”

Xolotl tremored his frill, shaking of more droplets of water, and gave a hiss of understanding.

“Just give it a little jolt to paralyze him, a Thunder Wave. And follow it up with a little filthy prank of our own, Slap it with some Mud!”

The electric basilisk smirked himself as he gather up electricity. Frill open and feet planted, the Heliolisk gave a sharp jolt toward the jokester clam then turned around to kick up some of the sandy mud at the Shellder's raspberry blowing face.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
i've got that glitter on my eyes
stockings ripped all up the side
    we are who we are

Aleria stretched. She'd spent the past several months taking a break from the National Park and the duties that related to her position as an Elite Ranger. It was pretty easy to skirt her duties too. Not even the Head Ranger was around much, so it was easy for her to skip her duties and just sit back and relax.

But now she felt a new sense of passion for the Park now that she had been promoted to Head Ranger, though she shared the position with someone else. She wasn't one hundred percent sure how she got the position, but she had it and she was going to take full advantage of it. And besides, now it was an excuse to get back to work and allow people to enjoy the National Park as she always did. There was no excuse for skipping out on her duties anymore.

Her first duty was to take over a run from her predecessor. She'd be guiding a guy named Liam O'Regan through the park. The name sounded familiar to her, now that she had a chance to think about it as she flew into the park on the back of Riza, her Charizard. Still, there were many people that she'd taken through the Park in her years as a Ranger. Names weren't always something that stuck in Aleria's head. She spotted her predecessor and the trainer who she assumed to be Liam down on the sand. They were by a hole that had formed in the ground, and water was in said hole. Had people been tampering with the environment or was this a hole made by Pokemon? She didn't know, but it was an issue she assumed had already been dealt with.

Riza landed on the ground a couple feet away, and Aleria slid off of the Charizard's back to land on the sand below her. She returned the Pokemon to her ball before approaching the trainer. Ivy noticed her coming and started to leave; Aleria waved a good bye to the Ranger before stepping next to the trainer. "Hey," she said. "I'm Aleria, I'll be taking over this run from here on out."

And she walked into what was probably one of the more exciting parts of these runs, a Pokemon battle. A Shellder against a Heliolisk. The battle hadn't gotten too far in, which was a plus for Aleria. She'd get to see all of the action unfold before her.

The Heliolisk started to gather electricity for what she assumed was going to be a Thunder Wave. As he did so, the Shellder jumped from left to right, slowly picking up speed. The water splashed as it moved, creating a small wave in the water. Clones of the Shellder appeared around them, forming a circle around the group. Aleria had to look around her. Even she couldn't properly identify the real Shellder, not now at least, but she could tell that they were all blowing raspberries at the trainer and his partner. Heliolisk released the energy he gathered, but it was only able to strike the Shellder in front of him. Those Shellder shuddered, and the electricity was enough to travel around to the other Shellder in the circle. Aleria glanced around again; she still couldn't spot the real Shellder.

Then Heliolisk kicked up some of the wet sand in front of them. It flew towards the Shellder, and that made some of the clones disappear. The real Shellder wasn't identified, but a large shard of ice struck Heliolisk from behind as the clones disappeared. By the time he turned around, all he saw were Shellder and its clones blowing raspberries at Heliolisk and Liam.

"Guess the Shellder likes playing with its food," Aleria commented with a shrug. "I can't tell which is the real one though, maybe you can figure it out."

((@Mistral Oh, Male would be cool for Shellder, thanks!!))

"Aw, hell, wha?" Liam thought as he began seeing double. Momentarily he thought he was becoming ill as his eyes buzzed around the blurring Shellder. As the images focused, so did Liam's thoughts; "oh, it's using Double Team!" he realized. Then, as Xolotl began charging up for his Thunder Wave, his ranger sudden;y departed. Liam turned to see where she was going, but instead saw a Charizard swoop down and land nearby. It had been carrying a person who climbed off and returned the draconic beast to its Pokéball.

She introduced herself as Aleria, a ranger, and that she would be taking over for Ivy. "Oh okay, great!" Liam responded. He thought he recognized her, maybe from the Gym? Maybe from around Cerulean? Then it dawned on him that she was the ranger that took him to Mt. Deckbi all those years ago. But before he could recollect with her and catch up, Xolotl was hit in the back by a shard of ice.

The multiple Shellder stuck out their tongues and blew raspberries at both of them. Xolotl was a bit miffed at the behind the back blow, giving hard core side-eye to the clam and it's doubles.

"They'd make great friends though," Liam thought, "same kind of snark, haha". Aleria had mentioned she couldn't figure out which one was the real one, and honestly, nor could Liam. He studied the many Shellder, each one looked just like the other one- it was quite impressive! But the many blowing of the raspberries was giving Xolotl anxiety to smack them.

"Xolotl, I'm not sure which one is the real one, so hit them hard with a Thunderbolt!" Liam commanded. The electric lizard got on all fours and opened his frill, sticking out his own slithery tongue and rasped back at the obnoxious clams. The air thickened with static as electric sparks rolled across Xolot's tail, inching closer by the millisecond growing in strength until it reached his frills. Xolotl gave out a terrifying hiss as he jerked the electric current out of his system sending a flash of lightning toward the many Shellder. The air around exploded in quick wave of energy and boomed thunder across the sandy landscape.

Liam didn't do much to acknowledge her presence, but why would he? Now that she saw his face, she remembered him as one of the first trainers she took through the Park. It had been a long time since she'd first started Rangering, but she recognized him nevertheless. The guy hadn't really changed much after all. He probably wasn't really paying much attention to her because his eyes were focused on the battle before them, and understandably so. His Helioptile just took a blow from the Shellder, and there were still several clones.

Helioptile wasn't too happy about what just happened. He was giving side eye to the Shellder and the clones surrounding him. The raspberries being blown at the Pokemon wasn't making anything better. It was actually making things worse as Aleria could tell the Helioptile was fighting the urge to just strike back.

"Xolotl, I'm not sure which one is the real one, so hit them hard with a Thunderbolt!" Liam told his Pokemon. Aleria took another look around. She still couldn't spot the real Shellder among the clones, so she wasn't too surprised that Liam couldn't either. Even if she did notice, she didn't plan to say anything; this was his fight, not hers. And besides, the real Shellder would reveal itself to Liam and Helioptile soon enough. It was only a matter of time before all of the clones would be gone.

The Helioptile got on all fours as the clams danced around him. The idea of a Thunderbolt didn't seem to faze them, even as the hiss from the lizard let the charge of electrical energy lash out at the Shellder. The hiss made Aleria shiver; it truly was terrifying. A cloud of sand and smoke filled the air as the Thunderbolt collided with the spot where a Shellder stood. Was it the real one? Aleria couldn't be certain, not with all of this smoke. As she glanced around, she could see all of the Shellder shuddering from the electrical energy that coursed through them. It looked like the Thunderbolt affected one and went to the others; that or the Paralysis was getting to them.

As the smoke cleared, she could see a few Shellder clones missing. Her eyes focused for a brief moment on the one that looked a little worse for wear; he wasn't where the explosion had occurred, but he was there. Was that the real one? Did Helioptile actually hit the right one or was he just caught in the explosion that happened from the Thunderbolt striking and he moved as the smoke cleared? Aleria saw a large burst of water fly by out of the corner of her eye, and she glanced over at the source; it was the Shellder that was injured. She brought her attention back to the Helioptile, who tumbled over after being struck from behind by the burst of water. The Shellder started to dance around the lizard, blowing raspberries at him. One thing was certain though, one Shellder stood out from among the rest, and that one was the true Shellder.

The thunder echoed away across the open sea; Liam felt it's boom shutter in his core as the air filled with electricity. The Thunderbolt had destroyed some of the Shellder's clones, but not all of them, and as the smoke cleared from the field, a nicely aimed jet of water shot forth and flipped the electric basilisk over.

"Xolotl, are you okay?!" Liam called out, keeping an eye on the Shellder that had attacked. He had hoped that Xolotl's Dry Skin would've absorbed some of the blow from that attack, but the water coming out at such a velocity proved to be ruthless; maybe some was absorbed, but nonetheless it did its job and knocked Xolotl over hard.

As other Shellders hopped around Xolotl and blew raspberries, Liam kept his eye on the Shellder that had jetted out the attack; it seemed weary, weakened by the battle, yet taut and mindful of it's energy. Deducing that the real Shellder must be the weakened one, Liam turned his attentions toward it, yet his poor thunderous lizard remained trapped by the surrounding clams.

Xolotl, unaware of the weakened Shellder, crouched up and eyed each clone hopping around him with distaste, trying to figure out himself with was real and which were fakes.

"Xolotl," Liam called back, "I think the real one is over here!" he pointed toward the weakened Shellder from over yonder. "Use Dark Pulse to blast those clones around you away, then use Parabolic Charge to damage any others and the real Shellder as well as taking some health back!"

Xolotl found it easy to summon the negative energy needed to use Dark Pulse. Smirking, he gravitated all the ill mojo around him to his center; darkness beginning to pool around his belly. Then, with a quick flick, Xolotl expunged the black mass out around him with a nasty hiss. With the immediate area around Xolotl momentarily clear, he quickly charged up another electric attack.

This time, however, Xolotl stood on his hind legs as the electrical current danced around his body and collected onto his opened frills, just until the energy about seeped over and then- BOOM! Lightning came forth from Xolotl again, but directed upwards into the air, amassing into a ball of electric energy that hung effortlessly in the sky for only a moment. With another flash, streams of lightning cracked down onto any of the remaining foes, attempting to zap them of their energy and health; Xolotl, like a vampiric battery, would begin to charge from his enemies' natural occurring electrical pulses: the beating of their hearts, their nerves sending messages to their brains, the jittering of their muscles, all contribute to the Parabolic Charge's sap.

Jackpot. Liam found the right one. Aleria was proud of him, though her watching the Poliwag clones around them probably helped him out. Still, his Heliolisk was taking damage, and that wasn't good for him nor his Pokemon. While Liam figured out which Poliwag was the real one, his Heliolisk was still confused about which Poliwag was the true one. Thankfully, his trainer was on the right track and could guide him on the right path.

"Xolotl," Liam called back. "I think the real one is over here!" He pointed to the injured Shellder "Use Dark Pulse to blast those clones around you away, then use Parabolic Charge to damage any others and the real Shellder as well as taking some health back!"

It wasn't hard for Heliolisk to get the negative energy needed for a Dark Pulse, and Aleria wasn't surprised to see that. With all of the annoyance and frustration in the air, it would have surprised her if he couldn't gather the energy for it. A quick flick of his hand released the dark energy around him. It pulsed out towards the Shellder around him. Some of them dodged, but not all of them could escape the dark energy, not even the real one. But as the smoke cleared from the clone Shellder disappearing, Heliolisk prepared his next attack. Electricity flowed around his body and gathered on the open frills. Another explosion resulted in the release of energy into the air, but there was a flash before the electricity crackled down on the real Shellder, sapping his health and giving it to Heliolisk.

The Shellder, in a weak attempt to fight back, opened his mouth and released a frigid burst of energy from it. Aleria shivered from it, but she recognized the attack; it was an Icy Wind, meant to slow Heliolisk down. It was likely because he couldn't move very well himself at this point, and now he was all alone on the field; his clones were gone, and his defenses were falling fast. Having his health sapped from him didn't bode well for the Shellder. The little Pokemon retreated back into his shell, and the purple clam closed.

"Looks like he's trying to hang in there," Aleria commented. "I think he's done joking around for now."

Twiddling fingers anxiously on a Park Ball in his hand, Liam waited for the blinding flash of Xolotl's attack to clear. Electricity sparked and cracked infrequently around the area; Xolotl had been surging out ionizing currents into the atmosphere, and if Liam didn't know any better, it almost looked like as if the clouds were darkening- but, wait. He rubbed his eyes, then glanced back out to the sandy beach: it was just an aftereffect of the brightness from Xoltol's Parabolic Charge.

One thing was different though, there was a bit of a nip in the air. Liam could hardy see through Xolotl's lightning when he attacked, but he could see some frost on a tuft of grass nearby that told him the Shellder had countered with an ice attack before withdrawing inside its shell. Knowing Shellder was paralyzed, weakened, and probably tired from the battle, Liam decided this would be a good time to attempt to capture the bivalve.

"Xolotl," Liam called out. However, his electric lizard was becoming more and more invested into the battle, especially after such a successful smite on the clones and Shellder alike. Thus, it took another call for Xolotl to turn back in answer to Liam. "Xolotl, I think we're okay from here!" Liam said as he took aim.

Years of baseball as a kid sure did its work as Liam bent back, pitcher stance in full, and swung his arm around his body to throw the Park Ball toward the, ironically, already encapsulated Shellder.

After the Parabolic Charge, Liam told his Heliolisk to stand down. She watched as Liam pulled his arm back before tossing the ball towards the Shellder. The ball hit the weakened Pokemon, who hadn't come out of his shell, and absorbed him. The ball landed in the sand.

It shook. It shook again. The red light on the center was dimming. The ball shook for a third time. The light on the center went out, and Aleria heard the click she needed to hear. She was sure it was a sound Liam wanted to hear too. She walked up to the ball and picked it up.

"Welp, it looks like Shellder is yours. Nice job," Aleria said. "I'll hold on to this unless you want to keep him. If you're not sure, that's fine, I'll just hold onto him until you make up your mind." She shrugged. "It's nice to see you again though. You ready to go try and find some more Pokemon, or are you looking to take a bit of a break to let your Heliolisk take a breather?"
