Joe sat on a rock beside Ranger Outpost 8, looking down a small narrow path. He was expecting a trainer to appear from the bottom of the path. His trainer was called Tony Banks, and he was an aspiring Pokémon Master. Joe removed a piece of paper and studied it. It had a list of the preferred route for these valleys. He didn't want to get lost like the last time he came to this place.

A small red and white Pokeball rolled out from his belt and a large flash erupted from the ball. A large bear like Pokemon sat beside Joe and gave out a large yawn. Joe smiled at his Snorlax and watched as it opened his mouth to eat a saved up berry. Then suddenly a foggy mist suddenly appeared and within seconds, Joe's vision was limited. Hopefully that didn't affect Tony's journey.

Tony Banks, the aspiring Pokemon Master, was visiting the National Park yet again. After his initial visit, it had become somewhat of a hobby and training experience for him. The Pokemon located in the National Park were exceedingly rare, and the sometimes harsh environment of the locations in the National Park simulated real adventure-like situations, which was perfect for Tony. This time his location of choice would be Meteor Valley. He had heard the Pokemon there were very rare and very formidable indeed.

His party of Pokemon that he brought along with him was slightly different than the party he had for his Mt. Deckbi expedition. Returning were his Infernape and Togekiss, Pokemon that he could lean on if something went horribly wrong. New to the team were Alakazam, and Krookodile. Dark, Psychic, and Ghost type Pokemon were rumored to have a special connection to Meteor Valley, so he figured he'd find out if this fable was true or not by bringing the two. Krookodile had never really been in an environment like this, so Tony was eager to see how he would perform. However, Tony knew that his trusted Alakazam would be perfectly fine.

Alakazam was out of his Pokeball and was traveling on foot with Tony. Alakazam and Tony were great companions. Even though Alakazam (or Professor A as Tony occasionally calls him) rarely verbally made noises, the two communicated by a Psychic link, in which Alakazam had a tendency to ramble on, sort of like a Professor. Regardless, this often helped throw the opponent off, because he had no idea what Tony nor Alakazam thought during the duration of a battle.

Tony paused. It was growing foggy. Apparently this happened quite often in Meteor Valley, it was part of the reason why many said that this area was treacherous as well as mysterious. Alakazam continued to press on. Tony could see his shiny pink exterior better than anything else around him.

"Alakazam! Make sure you stay with in a few feet of me, so that I can see you better!"

Alakazam turned around and nodded his head. He had his eyes closed, which was strange because of the thick fog.

I know where we need to go. Just stay behind me, my Miracle Eye should help us through this fog. Alakazam stated to Tony. Tony nodded his head and followed his partner. At least with Alakazam he knew that he'd eventually end up in the right place, something that Togekiss wasn't always good at.

The two walked for what seemed like forever, but was actually about five minutes until Alakazam came to a stop.

    We're here.

Tony looked around. The fog was still thick but he could make out a human leaning on some sort of object, with a large circle-like thing standing next to him. Was this his ranger?

"Uh, hello?" Tony called, praying that this was indeed his ranger.

"Uh, hello?" called the figure who was walking towards Joe. Joe studied the character and then glanced down at his sheet of paper. A few seconds of silence, Joe replied, "Hello Tony? I am going to be your Ranger today and take you through the Meteor Valleys. Is there anything you would like to do before we head off, for example play your PokePlayer?"

However as soon as Joe said that the fog mist slowly faded, it was very strange for a fog to fade like that, something is not right. There had been many problems involving run's here. For example, one of Cameron's Pokemon suddenly disappeared and was later found that the Legendary Pokemon Darkrai had taken it. Sometimes Joe was scared of the Valley, almost because there seems like there is no life to be found and it is the place where ghosts run freely.

When Tony had finished preparing for his run, Joe guided him towards a large cave entrance that connects to many other tunnels, creating a huge tunnel network, like an ant's nest. However as they were about to enter the tunnel, a small mostly green bird fluttered down before them. It's wings were brightly colored, yellow-and-red wings with thick black stripes. It has a tenancy to appeal to many trainers who visit the Valleys.

"Oh look its a Natu, do you want to battle it?" Joe asked Tony

"Hello Tony? I am going to be your Ranger today and take you through the Meteor Valleys. Is there anything you would like to do before we head off, for example play your PokePlayer?" The disembodied voice called in response.

Tony reached for his Pokeplayer, but as he was in the process of doing this, the fog suddenly cleared. He was amazed and left the Pokeplayer right in the bag. Tony looked around, taking in the legendary valley. The sun was setting, and some areas of the valley were completely dark. The sense of adventure began to rise up within Tony, he knew that this was going to be an expedition that he would never forget.

Tony felt reassured when the Ranger had responded to him, and the fog had lifted. Tony had heard stories that when sudden weather occurrences like these were caused at whim by the Ghost type Pokemon that inhabit the valley. That was pretty spooky, but somehow that thrilled Tony. The thought of perhaps having to chase down a Ghost Pokemon through the abandoned valley in order to get a personal item back made his heart race with excitement. Many would consider Tony strange for this, but Tony was rarely scared of anything.

In his neighborhood, there was a house that was allegedly haunted by several Ghost type Pokemon. It was also rumored that these Pokemon would to great harm to anyone who entered this abandoned house. Naturally, this story had attracted the neighborhood kids, including Tony. They all took turns, daring one another to see who could get the closest to the house, who could open the door, and who could stay inside for the longest. This produced a lot of giggles for those watching, and a lot of goosebumps for those who were dared to go inside. It was Tony's turn.

He was only dared to stay inside for one minute, but being the brave-hearted-somewhat-of-a-show-off that he was, he said that he would come out once he figured out what was really going on inside of the house. The other kids said he was stupid, but Tony had to get to the bottom of this matter.

He explored the house. It was rather old, but kept in good shape. Though no one inhabited it, the fireplace within the lobby of the house was shimmering as if it had just been lit. There was a staircase located on the left side wall, that led upstairs. Tony walked up this staircase, admiring the plushness of the red carpet he was stepping on. Upstairs there were several rooms, all having wooden doors with gold colored doorknobs. All of these doors were locked, but one door drew his attention in particular. This door, unlike the others had a peephole. For some reason, one could look out and see the hallway, but one could also peer in and see the bedroom. Tony peered in the peephole, and was able to see a lone bed in the middle of the room, with a painting hoisted over it. The eyes on this painting seemed to be illuminated, and were staring at Tony. Weird.

He walked back downstairs to the lobby area. If he walked to the right side, there was an entrance to what seemed to be a kitchen. He figured he would explore that area next. The kitchen area was pitch black, and he heard the sound of something stirring. Perhaps a Rattata that happened upon this abandoned house? All of a sudden, he heard a human sounding voice.

"We have a guest! Places everyone!"

Tony's heart skipped a beat. He looked to his left and his right, trying to get back out of the house. However, he felt his feet being lifted from under him, and his butt was sitting on something that appeared to be made of wood. Subsequently, there was a bright flash and instantly the once pitch black kitchen was completely illuminated.

Tony was sitting at the head of a long, grand table. Over this grand table was a Pokemon that resembled a chandelier. It twirled over the top of the table, with its flames moving along with it. There were several smaller candle-like Pokemon scattered about the table. This was a bit strange. Tony felt a tap on his shoulder causing him to jump. He slowly turned his head to the left, the direction where the tap had come from. What he saw was a purple Pokemon in the shape of a blob. It had red eyes and a large smile, with two arms and legs. It seemed that it was a Gengar, and it was wearing a bowtie.

"We haven't had a customer in ages! What would you like today?" It handed me a menu. Tony didn't know what to say, he just stared at the Gengar and no words came out of his mouth.

"Ohhhhh you want the house specialty? Coming right up!" He bowed and hurried off into the back area of the kitchen.

He called in some orders in a language Tony could not understand, and then the back area was in a frenzy with sounds of steaming, cutting, and chopping. Tony sat in his spot, too scared to move, but also very interested in what was taking place. Within a few minutes Gengar emerged from the back area of the kitchen holding a large plate. The purple gas Pokemon placed the plate in front of Tony. It was blank.

"Please, enjoy," The Gengar sat a knife and a fork down as well. It stood there and smiled, looking as though it wanted Tony to try the dish.

Tony was frightened out of his mind, so he figured it would be best to just follow the Gengar's orders. He took the knife and fork in hand, and cut at the plate. To his surprise, it felt as though there was something under his knife and fork. He stabbed his fork into the invisible substance, and brought it to his mouth. What he tasted was unlike anything he had ever tasted before. His mouth erupted into an explosion of different flavors all coming together for one defining, rich taste. Once Tony had his initial taste of this, he kept eating more and more until he was full.

He leaned back in his chair, and that signaled to Gengar that he had his fill. Gengar then lifted Tony out of his chair and escorted him to the door.

"Thank you very much for coming, we hope to see you again!" It called.

Tony emerged from the "haunted" house to find the other children all worried sick. However, the sight of Tony lifted their spirits. They all asked what Tony had seen and what was inside of the house. Tony told them all that they would have to see for themselves.

    ***

As Tony, Alakazam, and Ranger Joe walked towards the tunnel they would have to pass through in order to really start the expedition, a small little bird hopped around, looking as if it wanted to battle.

"Oh, it's Natu. Do you want to battle it?" Ranger Joe turned to me and asked. I didn't know much about Natu, and I had never had one before.

"Well, why not?" I thought aloud. "Alakazam, I want you to stand here with me and help coach. We'll let Togekiss handle this one," I stated.

I reached to my belt and pulled out a Pokeball with Togekiss engraved into it. I threw the red and white capsule into the air and it erupted into a bunch of lights, eventually the shape of my winged companion formed, and with a final flash, Togekiss was right in front of me. It shimmered though the sun was not beaming down on it. It had red and white tufts of feathers scattered about its mostly white exterior. It called in excitement.

    Togeeeeeeee!

"Alright Togekiss, your opponent today is Natu. Doesn't it look like it'll make a great friend?" I asked the happy Pokemon. Togekiss was always ready for anything that I asked of it, and it always did the task with a cheerful attitude. Togekiss was the happiness Pokemon, after all.

    Toge, Toge, Toge!

Based on its hearty response I figured that it agreed with me. Now came the somewhat tough part. I had to capture Natu without KOing it, as most of my Pokemon were fully evolved and more powerful than the colorful psychic bird. In the past, when I tried to battle basic staged Pokemon with fully evolved Pokemon, my fully evolved Pokemon usually ended up accidentally KOing the Pokemon resulting in my dismay.

"Togekiss, I want you to start off with a Shadow Ball, show it that we mean a little bit of business here! Then I want you to hit it with a Thunder Wave. Now be careful! That could make Natu upset and we wouldn't want that! Finally, once Natu is paralyzed I want you to use Bestow, and give it a Lum Berry. That'll show the Natu that you really want to be its friend!" I ordered. This set of directions was a little complicated, but Togekiss could do it. I knew it could.

I went into my bag and got a Lum Berry out. I sat the Lum Berry on the ground, Togekiss would come and get it when it needed it. I waited for Togekiss to initiate the battle.

OCC: Gender of Natu and Ability of Togekiss?

"Well, why not?" Tony said, "Alakazam, I want you to stand here with me and help coach. We'll let Togekiss handle this one,"

He thumbed through his belt and picked out a small red and white ball capsule, with the name 'Togekiss' engraved on the front. He threw the ball into the air and it erupted into a bright white flash. A large egg-shaped body appeared directly above them, blocking out the light from the sun. Joe could pick out the red, white and blue spikes above its head. Then it called out in excitement.

"Alright Togekiss, your opponent today is Natu. Doesn't it look like it'll make a great friend?" Tony called out. Togekiss chirped back in agreement. It was quiet rare not to find an enthusiastic Togekiss, I guess that's why they call them Jubilee Pokemon.

Then after a while of thinking, Tony gave a command to Togekiss, "Togekiss, I want you to start off with a Shadow Ball, show it that we mean a little bit of business here! Then I want you to hit it with a Thunder Wave. Now be careful! That could make Natu upset and we wouldn't want that! Finally, once Natu is paralyzed I want you to use Bestow, and give it a Lum Berry. That'll show the Natu that you really want to be its friend!"

Tony knelt down on one knee and placed a Lum Berry on the ground for when Togekiss would need it.

Togekiss quickly set off and started open her mouth wide. Then a small black sphere appeared outside her mouth and slowly increased in size. When the sphere was ready, Togekiss fired the sphere towards the Natu. The sphere crashed into Natu sending the small little bird flying into a boulder. It slowly got back on its feet and smiled at the Togekiss.

Natu closed its eyes and channeled energy into its wings. Then in a matter of seconds, it opened its eyes and started to flap its wings. As it flapped its wings, the energy stored turned into heat, and soon the Natu was producing heat waves towards Togekiss. Joe shielded his face from the heat, it felt like you were standing in an oven. The waves crashed against Togekiss.

In a bid to stop the waves, Togekiss started to flap her wings as well. However when she flapped her wings, a crackle of electricity sparked through her wings and created electric waves. It was Thunder Wave. Both attacks collided in mid air and were battling against each other. However with Togekiss being more powerful than Natu, she managed to overpower Natu's attack and paralyze it.

A crackle of electricity surged through Natu's body, making its movements slower. However something was weird about Togekiss. She tried to move normally however, like Natu, her movement's where limited. It suddenly snapped into place. Natu had an ability called Synchronize, where a Pokemon is inflicted with burn, paralysis, or poison, the enemy receives the status as well.

Togekiss tried to move towards the berry, however a large crackle of electricity surged through her body, stopping her from moving.

"Natu looks really tired, I think it's best to capture it now," Joe said to Tony who was standing beside him.

Tony watched eagerly as Togekiss simply overpowered the young Natu. The impact from the Shadow Ball left Natu reeling, but it was still trying to fight back, determination was a trait that he admired in Pokemon. However, Tony soon realized the error on his part as he commanded Togekiss to use Thunder Wave: Natu have Synchronize as their ability! Due to the paralysis, Togekiss was unable to perform Bestow as its final move. The situation looked a little bad, but he could tell that Natu was ready to be captured and so could Ranger Joe.

"Natu looks really tired, I think it's best to capture it now," Ranger Joe said, talking to Tony who was adjacent to him.

Tony nodded his head, and reached into his bag. He felt around in the Pokeball compartment, and pulled out his last Super Ball. He kissed it on the shiny metallic red part for good luck, looked at the Natu, and then launched the ball-shaped capsule device at the tired bird Pokemon. The Pokeball opened, and a red beam shot out and whisked Natu inside of the ball. Tony turned away to look at Togekiss.

"Togekiss, I want you to use Rest if we capture this Natu!" He commanded.

Joe watched as Tony gripped onto the small capturing capsule in his hand. He waited for the right moment and threw the ball towards the injured Natu. The ball collided with the Pokemon and a bright red light appeared from the ball and locked onto Natu. Natu disappeared into the ball, like magic, and the ball slowly moved from side to side. Then, in a flash, the small bird Pokemon stood beside the Pokeball it was just in. With it's small foot it kicked the ball back to Tony.

Natu, who seemed very hurt, took off into the air and hurtled towards Togekiss. It's beak slowly enlarge and looked a lot more dangerous than before. Then when it was close to Togekiss, it repetitively pecked the Jubilee Pokemon. After it was done, it landed on the floor, still showing signs of weakness.
