Aleria was excited. The Enigma Ruins was probably one of her favorite areas, second to the warmth of Mt. Oktori (because of course she loved the warm climate that came with the home of Fire types in the Park). Riza, her Charizard, landed just outside of the gates to the Enigma Ruins. She returned the large, orange, dragon-like Pokemon to her ball. She doubted she would have any need for Riza again today until she needed to return home; the ruins were typically a dark place, but beyond that, the environment was always changing. Not even Aleria knew what she and her trainer would be encountering today.

Speaking of her trainer, there was another reason why she was excited for today's adventure. The guy had a pretty cool Pokemon with him, one she'd never really seen anyone have before. Mamoswine, Dragonite, and Slowking were all Pokemon she'd seen before. They were nothing new to her. It was easier for her to think of trainers who didn't have them than for her to think of trainers who did have them. Individually, they were pretty common; together, not so much. But it was the Rayquaza that her trainer was bringing in that struck her interest the most. She'd never really seen a Rayquaza before, and she'd definitely never seen a Rayquaza owned by a trainer before. It truly was an exciting time.

But for now, she'd have to wait for this legendary trainer, and hopefully, just hopefully she'd get to see that Rayquaza.

Khoth slowly hiked up the side of one of the Nation Park's many mountains. He could feel the dirt and grass flatten beneath his handcrafted sandals as he marched up the mountain. While the National Park offered Khoth transportation to his destination, the Enigma Ruins, he respectfully declined. Khoth wanted to experience the natural beauty of the Park on foot, which he had more than enough physical endurance to traverse. Khoth looked upwards as he marched forwards. In the parting between the trees growing diagonally out of the mountainside, Khoth could see the incline coming to an end.

Khoth's objective stood before him, the entrance to the abandoned Enigma Ruins. The rusted metallic walls of the ruins were enclosed by a massive gate. In stark contrast to the route Khoth took to the ruins, which was relatively untouched by man, the unnaturally flat plains the ruins were built on were covered in minimal foliage. Small patches of grass and flowers had begun sprouting from the dirt since the lab became abandoned, but the trees and various other greenery Khoth encountered on his trek to the ruins were nowhere to be seen. In fact, the only thing Khoth noticed outside the gates was a woman returning a Charizard to her Pokeball. Khoth approached her, assuming she was the ranger assigned to him, raised one hand to greet her, and introduced himself.

"Greetings. My name is Khoth. Will you be accompanying me on my journey today?"

Her trainer arrived shortly after she did, much to her pleasure. Though she understood waiting for the trainer to arrive was a part of her job, it was a part of her job she wasn't too particularly fond of. The trainer was always right though, so even if they showed up half an hour past their appointment, she had to wait. And the worst part was that they still had to take the trainers through the park, no matter what. Thankfully this guy was on time.

"Greetings. My name is Khoth. Will you be accompanying me on my journey today?" he asked.

"Yeah, I'm your Ranger for today," she replied. "The name's Aleria. Pleasure to meetcha."

She unlocked the gates that led into the Enigma Ruins and led Khoth through, closing the gates behind them. The environment of the Enigma Ruins was one that changed, so it was no surprise to Aleria that no sooner had she led Khoth into the abandoned buildng, the environment did indeed change. They were in a mountain range, and the skies were dark. Torrential rains fell from the skies, and you could see the puddles that had already formed. It didn't look as if the rains would stop any time soon.

"Sorry," Aleria shrugged. "If I knew that it would be raining, I would've recommended you bring a rain coat."

But it was too late for rain coats now. They would be okay though. They were in a mountain range, so they would be able to hopefully take cover for a little while and warm up. That was a plus of having Fire type Pokemon. Not that it would matter since they would have to go back in the torrential rains.

"We should probably find a way to stop these rains. I feel like something's causing it," she said. "Any ideas what could be doing it?"

She led them up the winding path that would take them towards the peak of the mountain. Pokemon didn't seem to be interested in coming out right now, and understandably so. Torrential rains were causing large, deep puddles along the path, and Aleria took care to not walk through them. There were caves along their path, but there were no Pokemon. Probably once they realized that people were walking through this mess, they would come out and fight.

Khoth remained unfazed by the rain. Hardened by years of intense training, Khoth was more than familiar with the forces of nature. Khoth would have been fine with ascending the mountain in the downpour, but he noticed that his ranger was bothered by it.

"It doesn't matter what the cause of this is. I have a friend who has assisted me with unnatural weather before."

Khoth reached his arm over his shoulder, stuffed his hand into the sack he kept on his back, and pulled out a Poke Ball. Khoth tossed the ball straight up into the air. He put his other hand to his forehead to keep the rain out of his eyes as he gazed up at the Pokemon that emerged from the Poke Ball. A long, tube-shaped dragon hovered in the air. Its dark gray body was marked with yellow shapes and red fins. The beast's triangular tail hovered several feet above Khoth's and Aleria's heads. It slithered through the air like a snake, getting a sense of its surroundings with the small, yellow eyes on the sides of its sleek head. The shiny Rayquaza's dull yellow markings began to glow. Khoth could hear the rain sizzling as it dissolved upon hitting his Pokemon's body. A strange aura began to form around the Rayquaza, blurring the air around it. The Rayquaza angled its head up to the storm clouds and let out a shriek, activating its Air Lock and attempting to suppress the weather.

Aleria's eyes widened at the sight of the Rayquaza before her. It truly was a majestic creature, especially in person. It took on a strange aura, and the air around them was blurred. A shriek suppressed the weather around them. Though the torrential rains continued to fall from the sky, Aleria no longer felt it seeping through her clothes. The rain no longer caused the puddles around them to get bigger. Good thing this guy had his Rayquaza with him.

Though he didn't care about the cause of the torrential rains because of his Rayquaza's ability, Aleria did care. It was unlikely that Khoth and his Rayquaza would be here forever, and if the rain continued after they parted ways,
that wouldn't bode well for the Pokemon that resided here. The Pokemon of the Enigma Ruins were from across the Park's environments, but still. The torrential rains made Aleria concerned.

"Yeah, I guess we don't have to worry about it as much for now," Aleria said. Khoth still had a point. Whatever was causing this wasn't as much of an issue now that the Air Lock was suppressing the effects of the rain. "If we find it,
we can deal with it." And hopefully they did find it. This wasn't a problem Aleria wanted to deal with on her own.

But first, they would have to deal with the Wooper that darted out in front of them and blocked their path. "Are you interested in this Wooper?" she asked.

"Not particularly..." replied Khoth, looking down at the baby salamander. As he said this, his Rayquaza opened its mouth, contorting its face into as close to a smirk as it could get. The sky serpent was glad to find a foe. Anxious to show off to the wild Pokemon, the Rayquaza swooped down towards the Wooper. "...but my friend Gospel seems interested in fooling around with it."

The Rayquaza swooped down from the sky towards the Wooper. Before reaching it, it veered off to the side and stopped its decent a mere inch before its chin hit the ground. It then steered itself around the Wooper, reaching its upper body upwards upon reaching its own tail. The Rayquaza trapped the wild Pokemon in a fairly large circle that it formed with its body. While the dragon knew it could end the battle quickly with a well aimed Energy Ball, it didn't just want to win the battle; it wanted to toy with the poor Wooper and show off the wide array of moves that it learned over the years. The Rayquaza reached one of its skinny arms up towards its head. The three while claws on its triangular paw began glowing an eerie dark purple. Rayquaza swung down with the full force of its upper body, slamming its Shadow Claw towards the Wooper.

Khoth wasn't interested in the Wooper, but his Rayquaza was. This was rather unfortunate, at least for the poor Wooper who now looked terrified because of the large, serpentine Pokemon before it. It cowered in fear as the Rayquaza surrounded the small Pokemon with its body. Now that it was trapped, it cowered in fear for what came next, three paws that glowed dark purple slamming into the Wooper and knocking the small, pale blue Pokemon down.

It took a moment, but the Wooper got back up, its body trembling as it got back to its feet. It already knew it wouldn't be able to handle the Rayquaza before him, and yet, it couldn't run away in fear.

The Wooper jumped in place, splashing mud onto the Rayquaza as it did. Its body was too weak and too small to jump over the Rayquaza's body and get out of its trap. Frowning, the Wooper stopped jumping and blew a frigid air from its mouth. Aleria could see the ice crystals form on the Rayquaza's body. It would move slower now from the Icy Wind's effect, and the frigid winds even traveled over to her and Khoth, making her shiver for a brief moment.
Being wet and having cold air hit you never made for a good combination. Though she could have brought out one of her Fire types to warm them up, none of them would be too fond of the wet conditions that surrounded them. The effects of the torrential rains that continued to fall from the sky were gone, but the puddles that already formed were still there, and just as being wet and cold air didn't mix, Fire types and water didn't mix either.
Still, the Wooper seemed at least a little proud of what it did, even if it wasn't much.

Khoth winced for a second as the unexpected Icy Wind reached his body. He wasn't upset at Gospel for toying with the Wooper. In fact, Khoth smiled as his Rayquaza attacked the wild Wooper. The Wooper's attacks barely affected Gospel, and its Icy Wind was only mildly unpleasant to Khoth. Khoth would have gladly let the charade of a battle continue, but he could hear the clattering of his ranger's teeth. She was clearly uncomfortable with the cold, but before Khoth could help her he'd have to finish his encounter with the Wooper.

"Gospel, I'll need your help with something. I know you're having fun, but please wrap it up." Khoth turned away from his Pokemon and scoured the mountain. He quickly noticed a nearby fallen tree. Khoth ran over to it, grabbed the end of a thick, leafless branch, and tore off the end of it. Ready to turn the foot long stick into a torch, he turned around and walked back through the mud towards Aleria and Gospel.

Meanwhile, Gospel was upset at the Wooper. As mighty as Gospel was, Ice attacks were its Achilles' heel. Even if its trainer hadn't told it to end its tussle, Gospel would have wanted to on its own. The Rayquaza was afraid of what other Ice attacks the Wooper happened to know, and tried its hardest not to show how much the ice crystals that had formed on its body irritated it. Gospel meshed his paws together. A soft whirring noise began as the Rayquaza slowly drew its arms apart. A white Energy Ball with a rapidly spinning green border quickly expanded in front of the dragon. Gospel pushed the orb, now larger than the Wooper itself, and watched as it flew towards the wild Pokemon.
