    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Ivy tried to hurry though the Gardens, though she kept an even enough pace for Haji to keep up. The Espeon had been able to teleport them to the front gate, but she'd hadn't known exactly where Leo was, so she wasn't going to waste his energy popping around. She figured they could follow the sound of battle easily enough, and once they got closer, Haji would be able to sense the group.

She had gotten a message from Leo earlier, saying that he had a team run. However, Leo had somewhere to go, and it seemed that one of his Trainers was in a little bit of a hurry, so he asked her to come take the one that wanted to go further into the Park at a faster rate. Since she didn't have a lot of other things to do (there were hardly any runs lately, strangely enough) she agreed and made her way out here right away.

The place was the same as usual. She saw they had avoided the greenhouse and the maze for now. It sounded like they were near one of the larger ponds here. She had Haji followed the sound, and they traveled the curvy paths through the trees toward the water.

They came out of the forest over to see two Trainers engaged in battle with a pair of Snorlax. The massive blueish and cream-colored Pokémon were laying near the pond. One of them a girl was battling, and it looked pretty agitated. Icy blue fog was forming in its claw, preparing to strike at the girl's Garchomp. This one wasn't her new charge though, so she'd leave her to Leo.

There was also a guy in jeans and a red t-shirt commanding a Gengar against another sleeping Snorlax. He had brown hair and a determined look on his face. She heard him say, “Okay, Gengar, see that sleeping Snorlax over there? Why not eat its dreams?”

The Ghost type nodded and started concentrating, waving her hands in preparation for the move to start. He called out the command to release the attack, and she did. Her eyes glowed, and she saw the Snorlax's eyes tense a bit as she slept. She twitched, and Ivy knew the attack was working.

Tiny orbs of glowing energy came from the Snorlax, morphing out of her skin and shining from the sunlight. They floated back to Gengar as they absorbed into her, and the Ghost looked better, more healthier, than she had before. Ivy knew Dream Eater allowed the user to absorb the energy from a sleeping opponent. The only downside was that it often induced bad dreams to the sleeper. Sometimes this made them wake up right away.

That didn't seem to be happening though, as she could hear the faint snores coming from the huge Normal type. The Trainer then went into another part of a plan, calling out for his Pokémon to use Taunt, trying to make it only attack. Since sometimes the attacks Pokémon used when sleeping were random, there was a good chance it would call something strange that would only benefit Gengar.

The only problem with this move was that the target Pokémon had to see it. She supposed incorporating it into a mind bond while Gengar was stealing its dreams would've worked, but she had stopped the attack already. Still, she waved around and tried to induce the Snorlax into attacking, but after a few minutes she realized it didn't have any effect.

Ivy walked up to Leo and greeted the red-headed Ranger. They could both watch the battles for now, but after this they would part ways and take their Trainers to whatever area of the Gardens they wanted to go. It was still nice to interact with her friends outside of the office though, and the Park made for nice scenery.

Her eyes were drawn back to the battlefield when the large sleeping Pokémon moved. She made a sleepy groaning noise before shifting her weight and flopping over. From her back, she flipped over onto her stomach, and her failing arm shook the ground as it impacted. Then, the water next to her rippled and came alive.

Rings rose out of the water, tiny streams trailing back into the pond. They formed perfect Os of energy, and then after six of them had risen, they shot off toward the Ghost. She was pretty quick, so she managed to dodge the first three. The second set of three had fanned out though, and those slammed into her hard.

Ivy watched her closely as the attack ended, but the only thing wrong was being a little damaged and no longer dry. That was good, since one of the rarer side affects of the swirling water was confusion. It was going to be interesting to see what they did next.

As I harassed Leo to allow a new ranger to take my further through the park at a quicker pace. This is because I would hope I capture Snorlax and gift it to a friend of mine. He is a good friend and like ice Pokemon, however he had a Snorlax before I believe. If not I will be having Snorlax friends or lowers. Therefore, they would be playing all the time. Snorlax would then finally get on with another one of my Pokemon because it has had many conflicts with my other team members. For example, Snorlax has had troubles with Slowbro who compete for who is laziest Pokemon. Also there was some jealousy problems between the two because Slowbro was my Gym Pokemon and Snorlax was not. This created even more bitterness between them. When they used to fight each other, my other Psychic Pokemon always stuck up for Slowbro. Similarly, Hypno used to always direct elemental punches at the teddy bear when it saw Slowbro get attacked. The amount of times I got injured in the process to split these Pokemon up was horrendous. I had to go to the hospital a few times to get bandaged up or to the pharmacy. They gave me some medicines to help me recover quickly. In the end I had to split them apart. One area was for Psychic Pokemon only and the other for the rest of my Pokemon. This in the end benefited them all because there was less disputes, and injuries. Mainly injury to me.

Suddenly, a new ranger appeared with her trusty Espeon. She made out her name was Ivy. Ivy seemed like a nice person and her Espeon looked very powerful. This Ranger had red, long wavy hair, which made her look sophisticated and a calm Ranger. Similarl,y she had a black turtleneck, and wore cargos. These cargos looked fit for the Botanical Gardens and she could easily tread through the tall, grassy areas of the landscape. However, Ivy also had a long, crimson vest with many pockets all over it. Therefore, she probably had all medicines, herbs, Pokeballs, or anything a Ranger or Trainer would need. She seemed a lot more organised than Leo if I must say so myself.

This was cute because the Psychic creature looked happy and smiled at its trainer every so often. On the other hand, Ivy appeared to be a very good ranger with a lot to off to the National Park. I am delighted I recieved her in the Park compared to possibly some others. This female ranger appeared to be very detailed and always remain calm within a situation. I could tell this by her look. I wonder how many Pokemon she has captured in the Park before, only time will tell when I ever ask her! I thought to myself should I ask my new ranger how she is or just keep going as I am... I was kinda nervous too about being overwatched by a high up ranger like Ivy. My hand kinda shook and then I looked at Gengar who just did a wonderful attack combination on the sleeping teddy bear. Gengar was still waving her purple, poison like arms and had a shiny grin on her face. This was unusual for my Gengar, however it is probably because of her attacks hitting so well.

"Good job Gengar," I shouted to my shadowy partner. I quickly turned around and saw Ivy stood next to Leo. "Hello Ivy. My name is Chris. I hope you do not mind my randomness. It is nice to meet you!" I waved to Ivy and hope she was friendly enough to return the wave back. I looked left to my side and saw Alaska there for a moment. I felt bad because I was forcing her to go alone and when she fought to hard to encourage me all this time. Nonetheless, I must press on to capturing Snorlax and with all my power make it become friends with my current Snorlax! It seemed to me that the Wild teddy bear had awakened already from its slumber like sleep. My Hypnosis was a good hit and all but perhaps another one might be sufficient. Better to be asleep than awake I guess. However, I looked up into the sky and noticed the bright, sun's rays instensified above me. Perhaps using the sunny weather to my advantage would be a good idea. That gives me an idea! I pointed at the teddy bear of tranquility and breathed in heavily for a moment.

"Gengar, you know what?" I shouted. The Modest Gengar turned around with a confused look on her poisonous face. "Let's try a Fire Punch. This is because a powerful fire attack might be what that Snorlax needs." Gengar nodded and was happy because the attack had a better accuracy compared to Hypnosis. This creature prefers moves that hit on target compared to moves that take a risk or chance to work. Gengar's purple fist turned fiercely into a fiery attack and then levitated quickly in the direction of Snorlax. The sun raged intensely over the volcanic punch and launched in the direction of Snorlax. If it hit was another question and if it did damage was another.

However, I believed in my Gengar's abilities and succession to help me out. This was our bond and we were going to make this Snorlax see it. Gengar was doing Fire Punch the correct way, and even though Physical attacks were one of its weak points it could probably do little damage. However, Snorlax' Defense statistics were its weaker area compared to its Special Defense. Therefore, I wanted Gengar to nail that area as well. Similarly, the modest ghost Pokemon liked these ideas more than struggling to do damage to a stronger creature's area. This is because she like hitting hard compared to hitting light.

"Good job Gengar," I shouted. "That Fire Punch surely done some damage." Gengar was still soaked a little by the Water Pulse attack, which materialised from the cold looking pond next to the Snorlax. It was a very unexpected move for something so big. I mean a weak Special Attacker using Water Pulse over say like Surf... is like wow, fail. Reminds me of a haxer that rhymes with Tash Lay. Anyways, my next plan was to force Snorlax to not repeat moves or reduce the usage of them. Gengar turned to me as I placed my hand to my head. I started to sweat slightly because the teddy bear was so gargantuan that it intimidated me. However, Gengar seemed to keep its cool besides being worried about its moves it would use or how powerful they were.

"Gengar, stay focused," I shouted. "You can do this. I believe in you." I quickly ran over to my partner and hugged the ghost. Gengar always liked my hugs and smiled as it hugged me back. I hurridly ran back and pointed at Snorlax. I thought again about my moves. Taunt had failed because it was sleeping. I might just leave it at Fire Punch and await until it does another attack back. That way I will be able to plot something next time. However, if it wakes up it might be raging because it had its dream eaten. Therefore, it will probably go on a yawning rampage and do massive damage to Gengar! This is because Gengar ate its dream about finding a male lover Snorlax and succeeded. But, Gengar ruined all that!

"Gengar, try Substitute," I shouted. I know it will take your health away but it will save you taking massive damage if it awakens. Therefore, you would be able to protect yourself from these attacks and counter respectively to what the giant teddy bear tries. It's a long shot, but it might be worth the try. Gengar turned around to me and nodded. She seemed to be alright with cutting her energy for a small doll to appear and take hits. Similarly, the Substitute would be able to be rotated around the grassy area like a Gengar. Suddenly, my Modest creature created an orb of energy, which cut her health points. The orb of energy materialised in front of Gengar after it had levitated through the warn, sunny filled air. It materialised into a smaller poisonous ghost in front of it. It hissed for a moment and glared at the sleeping Snorlax.

"With a Substitute in play, we will be able to plot ahead before Snorlax can," I said to Gengar whilst I placed a thumbs up. I thought to myself. I wonder if Ivy is enjoying the show or perhaps wondering if I need to be more creative. Either way her red, wavy hair and suspicious, calm looks intimidate me a lot. However, I bet she has a heart of gold unlike other women I have met. But, my Gengar would not take too kindly if I said that to her out loud. This is because she'd get angry and attack me or play tricks on me.

"Hey Ivy," I shouted. "How am I doing? I know I asked this a lot to my old ranger. However, I would like some good feedback on my progress." Ivy looked confused as if nobody acknowledged her in other National Park runs she had done. I prefer to make sure my Ranger is at a 100 percent form because they call the shots, and can give me awesome ideas within the battles. I asked for feedback because I wanted a professional perspective in case I did something wrong.

Similarly, encouragement would be good as well and then I can strive forward with this capture. Snorlax appeared to be sleeping, however I did not trust how long it would sleep for. This is because it sleeps 99.9% of a day and only awakens to possibly, sleep, drink, eat, poop, and pee. My dad always told me that was my only five qualities until I left for my Pokemon journey. Sure showed him! I looked around the Botanical Gardens for a moment and saw that the place seemed deserted. On the other hand, perhaps I disrupted the Snorlax' drinking time and might be mad. I remember my Snorlax when it was evil, and it took so much time to make it a nice teddy bear. I will explain that later when I feel up to it. This is because it is a lot to talk about, and especially how I captured it effectively

"Gengar," I shouted to her. She turned around yet again. She was probably becoming annoyed and distracted by me. However, she seemed content and happy with my reassurance towards her. I stuck my thumb up and smiled. Gengar immediately knew that was the sign that she was doing extremely well. Gengar nodded and turned around once more. She glared her eyes red and frowned at the sleeping Snorlax. She awaited for its moves...

The sunlight burned fiercely over the battlefield and Ivy's Espeon seemed to be laying down in the sun. Her Espeon appeared to be powerful, however enjoyed any sunny weather on him. I admired this Pokemon because it was a Psychic type. My own Espeon would love this creature as its playmate or battling team. Considering Espeon is a powerful Pokemon it would be able to make good combination in Double Battles like I have done in the past.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

The Trainer introduced himself as Chris with a wave. She waved back with a smile, and he went back to paying attention to the battle. It was good that he noticed her though. It meant he was paying attention to more than just one thing.

The Trainer seemed a bit confused as to why the Snorlax used a Water Pulse attack over something more powerful. It was hard to tell what a sleeping Pokémon was going to call out as an attack though, so she was pretty sure it was just random. Maybe being near the water influenced her dreams or something too.

He then planned out their next move, looking like he was trying to make up his mind about something. Finally he called to his Gengar and said, “Gengar, you know what? Let's try a Fire Punch.”

The ghost looked like she agreed with him in attacking, though, and since it wasn't raining or anything, fire might be able to do a little more to the large behemoth of a Pokémon. She watched the Normal type carefully. Before she could act though, the Trainer asked her to do something else.

    “Gengar, try Substitute,” he said.

Ivy thought it was a fair plan. She had seen many substitutes work really well in the Park. One had been used as a decoy by a Gallade, letting it sneak around and attack their foe without taking damage. Another Trainer had made a copy of his Salamence and used it to distract a tricky Whimsicott that just wouldn't stop fighting. You could do a lot of things with them. If you gave them enough energy, they could even attack alongside the original.

The ghost went to work on the second instruction right away, forming an orb of energy in front of her. Energy flowed between her and the orb until it grew a little in size, though it didn't get as big as her, instead only half the size. Soon the orb began to shift and morph into another mini-Gengar. Once it was done forming, it stared at the Snorlax too.

“Hey, Ivy,” he said, turning back to her. The Ranger blinked, not realizing he knew her name yet. Leo must've filled him in. “How am I doing?” he asked, wanting some feedback.

She had to smile. Most Trainers just winged it, but occasionally there were one or two that had no idea. He wasn't doing bad though, in fact, for a first time to the Park, he was doing quite well. Leo had given her the Deerling he caught earlier for safe keeping, as well as filled her in on what had happened so far.

“I think you're doing just fine. You've already caught one, what's one more?” She nodded to Gengar. “Your partner seems to trust you a lot, so I'm sure the two of you will be able to come up with something awesome. Subs are pretty cool. You can do a lot with them. Just get creative,” she added, a piece of advice she gave to most Trainers. There was a lot they could do if they only realized it.

The Trainer seemed pleased that he was doing well, so he turned back to his battling Pokémon. The trees ringing the pond swayed a little in the breeze as they soaked up the sunlight. She saw the ones in this area were the thinner type. Maybe she'd take him into the denser part of the forest next.

Back on the field, Gengar concentrated as her fist burst into flames, and her eyes glowed with power as she debated where to strike. The copy did this too, in a smaller format. Then, the ghosts flew at the sleeping Pokémon, aiming for Snorlax's side. The copy streaked over to the other side, trying to damage her at the same time as its original.

They impacted both sides at the same time, the fire flaring just as it hit the blubbery skin. Then they both retreated, floating back toward Chris. The Snorlax's eyes clenched again, and she twitched a bit. Then Ivy saw her open an eye, and with a frustrated grunt she sat up, wiping at her eyes.

Snorlax looked at the two ghosts and then rubbed her eyes again, as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing, then her brow furrowed, and she hit the ground with both of her powerful fists, shaking the ground and rippling the pond. In response, the water trembled and shot up in a wave. However, it didn't come at them like a surf attack. Instead, parts of it crystallized until there were several spears made of ice, all pointing at the two ghosts. They weren't solid though, as she could see the energy sparkling in them. She had a feeling the spears were just temporary states.

They seemed to know what was up, and they both broke from each other in opposite directions, their fists flaming again. The Snorlax had a choice now. She shifted her head back and forth as she couldn't seem to decide what one to hit. The icicles behind her turned with her head. It looked like she couldn't fire them in both directions at once.

In the end, she decided to fire at the real Gengar, maybe deciding the bigger one was more of the threat. The spears then melted into one and became more shiny. A burst of energy was made out of them, and the shards shot at the ghost in a powerful Ice Beam attack.

The ghost didn't just sit there to get hit though. She flared her fists with fire and tried to deflect as much of the blast as she could. She couldn't stop it all, and the force sent her rocketing into the ground, but Ivy saw she wasn't too hurt. Gengar floated back up, looking out for her copy on the other side of the field.

While the big Pokémon was distracted, the clone swung in to hit the Snorlax again, darting in to smash into her stomach. The Snorlax flailed a bit and then tipped backward, falling into the pond in a backward belly-flop. Water splashed upward, flowing onto the shore and spraying water back at them. Luckily, it wasn't that deep. The Snorlax was on the shallow end, and when she got up, she was only half covered in water.

Haji mentioned his delight as well, as the water didn't reach him. When it came to sunning, he liked to stay in one spot. Sometimes, though he was calm by nature, she thought he was picking up her fellow Rangers' lazy habits. Like Buzz, Jack, or Chainy, for example.

This could be very good for Chris if he could make use of the water somehow. It was also good that Snorlax had chose to attack the real Gengar instead of the clone. That meant it still had a lot of energy to work with, and they could possibly do some cool combo like they just had.

“Nice one, Chris,” she called, trying to be helpful. From his sun spot beside her, Haji agreed.

Ivy replied with a wave and sneaky smile. I was quite happy she did not mind that I acknowledged her and she seemed very friendly. My predictions were indeed correct. I may have been confused by the Water Pulse attack, however that would be because Snorlax was asleep before. Therefore, it randomly attacked and it was near the small, cold pond anyways. Perhaps that did influence its movements. However, it could be even madder if it was dreaming about the pond and Gengar ate it. This would maybe make it rage because the shadowy ghost took away its tranquil place it liked so much. On the other hand, I better be careful with damaging Snorlax. It might faint and I could not do that to a wild Pokemon because it is just minding its own business as I came into the area. Gengar continued to be happy and content and seemed to not have taken too much damage. Therefore, we had time to plot a strategy to add some slightly, less damage to the tubby, teddy bear. I turned my head sideways and saw the cloned substitute, which seemed unscratched. Snorlax on the other hand seemed to know, which version was the real one. This means I am at a disadvantage because the giant, green bear would know the movements of my strategies. I looked over towards Snorlax and it was laying actually straight through the watery pond. If I sparked a Thunderbolt attack right in the pond... It would be a devastating problem for Pokemon that might be living inside those shallow depths. Therefore, I do not wanna hurt more Pokemon at my expense of my costly moves. I would probably be banned from the Botanical Gardens forever or something similar. Alas, I believed getting Snorlax out of the water was the best idea I have came up with since I joined Saffron City Gym. I joke. I love Saffron City and I have an amazing record so far. Anyways. I turned to Gengar and asked a question.

"Hey Gengar," I shouted. "Do you have an opinion on the situation? What I mean by this is perhaps you have a great idea and such." I brushed my brunette hair for a moment and smiled at Gengar. She tilted her head for a moment and nodded. She seemed to have an idea. Gengar waved its purple, poisonous arm, which means it liked to use a good move that would work. I quickly twigged for a moment as I remembered earliar in the Botanical Gardens. She did this same movement before I asked her to use Taunt. Could this be what my shadowy partner wanted? Taunting Snorlax once more?

"A Taunt?" I said to Gengar. Gengar seemed pleased with the idea and nodded effectively. "That's right. A Taunt might be what Snorlax needs to come out of the water." Therefore, this will save me causing too much destructive damage to a creature hidden within the pond itself. Then, for a moment I noticed the cloned shadowy ghost next to the original creature itself. Perhaps I can use that little exact copy to my advantage. Perhaps Snorlax, might notice the real Gengar Taunting it and maybe attempt to attack it. However, maybe if I sent the cloned Pokemon to attack as well it might risk a protective attack on the Substitute. This might be what Snorlax would need to be distracted away from the water.

When I shouted "Hey Ivy" to my Ranger. She just blinked in shock I asked the question. This is because she seemed shocked a Trainer asked her. She just easily smiled at me and blinked. I noticed that Leo had given her the Deerling I captured earliar. Ivy also seemed to know everything that has gone on before within the Botanical Gardens. Similarly, knowing about my previous encounters, my previous moves, my previous strategies. She replied saying "I think you're doing just fine. You've already caught one, what's one more?" I noticed my Gengar agreed with her. She normally does not greet or agree with any other trainer but me. Perhaps Ivy had a unique scent, which made Gengar believe she was one hundred percent good.

"You are right Ivy!" I shouted back to her. She gave me plenty of advice about using Substitute and the advantages of that special technique. Being creative would be good idea as she instructed me. Nonetheless, because I have decided to ask Gengar to use Taunt. Perhaps a Haze attack could fog the arena and maybe Snorlax would become a little anxious of it having a fog surround it. Therefore, I could then get my Gengar Substitute to sneak behind it and launch an attack.

Snorlax had used an Ice Beam attack on Gengar. Luckily it did not do too much damage to my partner. However, since Snorlax knew which one was the real Gengar. Perhaps Hazing the battlefield would a good idea and then add in an Ice Punch this time. Therefore, adding an Ice Punch attack would remove droplets from Snorlax and freeze. This could then maybe make the droplets of water fall to the grassy floor. Then, perhaps I could possibly use electric moves without them being conducted too much. It's worth a shot I guess. But lets see how my first strategy works. I turned to Gengar, and posed a question.

"Gengar. How do you feel about a 3 combination assault using your other Substitute Partner as well?" I asked. I thought I would ask Gengar first because she is doing all the work here, and not me. Gengar nodded and seemed happy with the combination in plan. I looked over my shoulder at Ivy who seemed to be enjoying the show a little... Or maybe that was me just thinking that. Nonetheless, her Espeon seemed to also be enjoying the battle. Ivy's Espeon seemed to enjoy battling and would probably love to take over for me. However, me, Gengar, and Crobat can press through the park together as an awesome team.

"Right Gengar. Firstly I would like you personally to use Taunt. This would maybe make Snorlax direct an attack towards you away from that pond. Therefore, stopping it damaging any other Pokemon within that pond over there. Or maybe attempt to stop..." I shouted and instructed. "After your Taunt attack. I would trustfully like you to use Haze. This would fo the battlefield and leave an opening for Snorlax to be attacked ffrom behind. Maybe, from the Substitute ghost." Gengar nodded as it liked the ideas. Gengar seemed to agree with the idea a lot and seemed to instruct the Substitute as well.

"Gengar, with your copy, cloning friend. I advise you to ask it to use Ice Punch from behind," I shouted. "That way we can possibly reduce Snorlax' health if it hits. I suggest aiming for the center of its back." I thought this was a good targetted area because I do not want to maybe damage Snorlax too much. This is because it might possibly faint and maybe make all my Pokemon's efforts wasted. Gengar nodded to the commands. I pictured in my mind how the attacks could go and how effective they could be. However, imagination is much different to the actual battlefield where anything can happen within the Pokemon world. On the other hand Ivy seemed to believe I could capture Snorlax. I could tell this feeling when I glimpsed into her eyes. Similarly, she seemed to have her eyes set on another part of the Botanical Gardens. However, I do want to overpredict everything and upset my ranger.

"So, yes Gengar. Do Taunt first, then Snorlax attempts to attack start a Haze. Then, after the fog has arrived use your Substitute to pelt an Ice Punch." I was hoping this strategy worked. One false move out of line could be costly for the team. I believed in Gengar so much that my heart starting beating fiercely. I've never become so nervous with a wild Pokemon since Godzilla-Lax. I breathed in heavily and kept my cool. I reopened my eyes for a moment and saw Gengar waving its arms at me. Perhaps Gengar was cheering me on for a change. I smiled and waved back.

"I am fine Gengar, you are the star," I shouted back and smiled. I was proud of Gengar so much. I like to repeat my feelings sometimes. It makes me happy to reassure my feelings every so often. After a bad past I have had before my Pokemon journey I always looked for hope. Similarly, my Pokemon made me happy and probably makes most people happy. Especially my Ranger Ivy. This is because she awknowledged my bond with Gengar. Similarly, I also noticed her bond with her special Espeon. That's because I also enjoyed Pokemon that made trainers happy. I remember before when my best friend had his Charmander first given to him. He was able to be overjoyed and everything. However, it was suddenly neglected when his new girlfriend arrived. This tore me apart. Similarly, I was also ignored. I would like to change this but my Pokemon come first. Enough of this drama.

"Gengar use our assault tactics now!" I shouted. Gengar prepared her arms and pierced her crimson eyes at the dozey teddy bear. Suddenly, the substitute also hopped up and disappeared... The plan was about to be in progress and I watched carefull to see what happens... Hopefully, it works out as planned. This is because I loved it when a plan came together and it was successful. Therefore, I can cheer Gengar on more and give her a nice hug!! I carefully watched as she bravily did her attacks. I quickly turned around to Ivy who watched carefully as the sun shone fiercefully. I was awaiting the outcome of the battle and eagarly watched.

"Ivy, are you enjoying the show?" I asked her and then looked forward to the battle field again.

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Chris seemed mostly pleased with the outcome of the battle so far. He was doing pretty well. Ivy was a little worried now though, since the Snorlax was in the pond. She hoped the Trainer wasn't going to do anything drastic. She didn't doubt that some of the Trainers she had in the past would've just attacked in the pond. If say, a poison or electric move was used, it could potentially be hazardous to any of the other Pokémon living in it or around it. If that happened, she would have to step in.

She got Haji's attention through their mind link, and he tensed a little in preparation. She could feel his energy swirl a little, and he had his head straighter. His ears twitched and he watched the field closely. He understood her need to protect the Park. She once had a Trainer ice over one of the cave rooms in Deckbi, almost trapping them so they could freeze to death as well as hurt the other Pokémon living there. Thankfully, they managed to avoid it.

It seemed she didn't have to worry about anything though, as Chris asked his Gengar for her thoughts on what they should do. After some communication between them, the Trainer understood that the ghost thought they should taunt the huge Snorlax. Chris nodded at his Pokémon and said, “That's right. A Taunt might be what Snorlax needs to come out of the water.”

She breathed a metaphorical sigh of relief, and she felt Haji relax a little beside her. That showed the Trainer was thinking about the Park and other creatures in it, and for that she was glad.

He then plotted some more, and after a few moments he had another plan that both he and his partner liked. That was the key really, communicating and working together to get things done. Rangers often did that, with both their own Pokémon and ones in the wild. If everyone could do that, the world would be a nicer place.

First, the real was going to taunt the Snorlax out of the water. Then she was going to cloak the field in a Haze while her substitute prepared to attack with an Ice Punch from behind. Ivy thought it was a pretty good plan. Distractions often helped when in battle.

“Ivy, are you enjoying the show?” he asked her.

She nodded. “Don't see why not. Interested to see how your plan turns out though.”

The ghosts went to work right away. The copy disappeared, perhaps hiding among the trees or even in the water. Gengar bore a smile on her face as she started waving and making mocking noises in Snorlax's direction. However, this had no effect right away. When Ivy looked at the large Normal type, she was gazing at something in the distance, in the direction of deeper into the Gardens.

Haji's ears twitched as he looked too, and Ivy did the same. She couldn't hear or see anything though, and she sent questioning thoughts to the purple cat to see if he could feel anything further away.

He focused harder and blinked a few times. “There is... something, but I am not sure what. It seems to be affecting many others in the Gardens.”

Something that was affecting Pokémon so far away was something she couldn't really ignore, even if she had a Trainer with her. She'd ask if they could check it out after he was done. Surely it could wait a few more minutes. She didn't think this battle would go on that much longer, and maybe Haji could find out more through a little more time sensing.

Gengar saw that Snorlax wasn't being affected, but she wasn't going to take no for an answer twice. Instead, she shouted louder and flailed her arms more rapidly. The added effects finally caught the wild Pokémon's attention. Her eyes snapped onto the ghost, and they narrowed in concentration as the large teddy bear seemed to make up her mind with something.

She gripped onto the shore line with her big paws, and with a massive haul, lurched her body up onto the ground. With a little more wiggling and maneuvering, she got herself out of the water completely and standing upright. The whole time she didn't take her eyes of Gengar.

Gengar then went into concentration, trying to fog over the field. She saw the pond start first with a milky film hovering over the top of it. The Gengar copy poked its head out of the water silently too, staring at the Snorlax and waiting to strike. Both of its hands came out, and an icy smoke formed around them, aided by the chilling air.

Snorlax went into action before the fog could fully form though, and with a look of concentration, the water began to get unruly. Small waves formed into larger white caps, and then a wall of water rose out of the pond and crashed towards them. It avoided Snorlax, of course, but the rest of them weren't that lucky.

Ivy automatically stepped in front of Haji, holding the tail of her long vest out as a bit of a shield to protect the cat. She knew he was fully capable of doing it himself, but he was doing other things and she didn't want to interrupt that. She could feel him work though their bond, and she smiled a little as she felt his thanks come through too.

The water flowed over and coated the Gengar, and Ivy saw her get knocked a little off balance as she was hit. She didn't stop concentrating though, and then the field disappeared in a smoky cover.

The water barely reached the Ranger, but they had been sprayed a bit. She was a little soaked, and she figured Chris hadn't faired much better. Haji was mostly dry, and that's what mattered to her. Being a Ranger, she was used to the elements. Days she didn't get dirty or wet or burned or something were rare.

She couldn't really make out Snorlax's form way over by the pond side. She knew she could use Haji's sight to see energy signatures, but she didn't want to drain on his energy if it wasn't necessary. He reassured her it was fine, but she liked to keep his health up just in case they had an emergency.

Then, a howl was heard, the cry only able to come from the Snorlax. The copy must've went ahead with its attack. She heard swishing sounds, like the Pokémon was clawing at the air, but she didn't hear any contact, so she figured the Sub was still okay. Then, she heard a crackling, interlaced with a pop once in a while. A flash of yellowish light shone through the fog for a second, and Ivy paled a little.

“Haji, ready a shield,” she said, silently apologizing for interrupting. “Make sure you cover Chris too,” she added, trying to feel Snorlax's energy herself.

That sounded a lot like a Thunderbolt. And they were all wet. She wasn't allowed to interfere with the battle, and consequently, Gengar, but she was allowed to help the Trainer. Chris would have to direct Gengar himself, but at least now he wouldn't get fried to a crisp while doing it. He would have to act fast to save his ghost. She had already taken some damage from the Surf, and if that Thunderbolt hit her when she was wet, it would hurt even more.

“Be careful, Chris!” she called, trying to help.

Gengar's strategy worked really well. It hit Snorlax well and out of balance. Luckily for me, Gengar did not attack the pond and destroy the habitats inside. It may be a small pool, however many Pokemon like Remoraid or Magikarp could be sleeping under there. Therefore, that is why I wanted Snorlax out of the pond for good. If I did attack, my Ranger Ivy would release her wrath on top of me with her powerful Espeon. I looked over my shoulder and noticed Ivy's Espeon doing a weird Psychic ability. I wondered what it was as she tensed her fuzzy, pink head. However, Ivy also looked like she was in a trance too. I sensed their was some special connection between them as I thought before. Gengar turned to me slightly and also nodded in agreement with me. It's like she had special abilities to mind connect with me.

I looked around as I shouted to Gengar to use Taunt. I saw Ivy seemingly sigh of relief. Her Espeon, Haji seemed to show a release of energy and seemed less tense than before. It's as if she was also relieved I did not damage the Park's other Pokemon by doing something selfish. Gengar seemed to be a little tired and slowly panted a slightly. "Hey Gengar, good work I believe in you always!" I shouted. I believed she still had a lot of fight left in her.

Ivy replied to my question before after I directed Gengar through the process of the three assault combinations. She replied with "Don't see why not. Interested to see how your plan turns out though." She nodded as well. I watched Gengar as she taunted with a large grin on her face whilst waving her hands around. Similarly, my precious, shadowy ghost made mocking noises towards the giant teddy bear. However, it did not seem to have any affect at first because Snorlax was so large! Suddenly, I heard a rustling sound and Ivy's Espeon seemed to look into the direction of some bushes within the deeper part of the Botanical Garden. I was slightly confused and looked the wrong way whilst Gengar continued her Taunt attack on the tubby bear. Similarly, Espeon's pink ears twitched slightly. Both Ivy and Haji looked slightly worried from whatever was causing destruction within deeper areas of the garden.

However, I noticed my strategy was not working how I predicted. My shadowy partner seemed a little worried and modest of the strategy after all. Suddenly, Gengar was not going to take no for an answer. I saw her flailing her arms around once more to narrowed Snorlax's attention. It seemed to have worked this time because Snorlax looked ready to attack. Suddenly, she gripped the shore line with her big paws and slushed a massive haul of water. It splashed through the warm air as she lunged out of the small pond.

"Watch out Gengar," I shouted. "That Snorlax has her piercing eyes locked onto you! Be careful now!" Snorlax sharply yawned and glared at my shadowy ally. My directions for Gengar's Haze attack start to fog over the gardens and it hoverred over the top of it. Then, the Gengar Substitute popped it head out of the water. I was amazed it was able to sneak around their so quickly. I also waved to Gengar, however did not try to distract her form her efforts. However, before the Haze fully materialised Snorlax stormed through it and splashed attacks of water at us.

"Oh no I am going to get drenched!" I shouted loudly. I had a slight phobia to being splashed by water sometimes especially new areas of water. Gengar become sploshed by the cold pond's water and she started to tumble for a moment. Gengar wiggled on the wet grass and struggled to stay still. I worriedly clenched my first and shouted towards Gengar. I wondered if Ivy got fed up of my shouting and wanted me to shut up... However, the shadowy ghost disappeared into a puff of the Haze. Suddenly, the copy ghost shattered icy punches towards Snorlax from behind. Snorlax wailed loudly making the sky echoed with its cries. Unexpectedly a countered bolt of lightning sparked in the direction through the dense fog.

"“Haji, ready a shield,” I heard Ivy shout “Make sure you cover Chris too,” A giant, purple barrier surrounded me before I got hurt from this special attack that would be unleashed at me. Gengar on the other hand was soaked and ready to be bashed by lightning bolts. The sparking sounds sounded worrying. I looked at my foggy ghost and wanted to help her immediately. I had no plans but had to act quickly... I remember Ivy saying before about Substitute could be used in so many ways. I could risk a Haze again but the water would conduct the Thunderbolt attack and zap Gengar to faint. I do not want that.

"Gengar, Gengar," She hissed silently whilst being soaked. She pointed her purple, poisonous hands in the direction of the Substitute. "That's it, if I get the Substitute to attack whilst my Gengar uses Protect attack. It might capture if off guard. "Cloned Gengar, use Giga Drain on Snorlax directly." This attack would absorb some small energy back to my ghost. However, that is if it's successful. If it was successful, Gengar might be able to take the attack if her Protect is a failing attempt to protect herself. Nonethless it was worth a shot and I believed in her all the way. I believe Ivy knew this from the first time she arrived in the park about one hour ago. It may have been a short period but I wanted to show her my bonds.

"Quick Gengar, use Protect," I shouted. "For our bond's sake and your health you can do this!" I was so worried about Gengar whilst underneath the psyching barrier from Espeon. I started to have a small panic attack. What would I do to myself if Gengar fainted here... Crobat would have to the take the ghost's place and I would have a severely injured Gengar...

    Ranger Ivy Frost

    ---

Haji went to work, expending his energy to make sure they didn't get hurt when and if the Snorlax attacked. A thin, almost-invisible half circle appeared in front of them, glinting with a hint of purple, one of Haji's personal touches. She looked toward Chris and saw that the Protect was reaching him too. Haji could hold them for a while, but not forever, so she hoped someone made a move soon.

Chris looked a little panicked at what to do next. She could tell that he didn't want his Pokémon hurt, and she understood the woes of making quick choices that could endanger your partners. The Ghost didn't look like she liked the water too much, and the Trainer didn't either. Maybe they had a bad experience with it before.

Gengar helped him out in making a decision though, as she waved her hand and hissed toward something in the fog. Chris seemed to get it, with an understanding look popping up on his face. He then fixed his plans to involve the still-lurking Substitute. It was doing a great job of being hidden.

“Cloned Gengar,” he said, talking to the copy, “use Giga Drain on Snorlax Directly.”

She thought this was fair, since draining some health from the bulky Pokémon would help the clone say around for longer. It would have to put it decently close to the opponent though, and that put it at risk. Still, there wasn't much he could do with the Thunderbolt crackling dangerously behind the fog sheet. It was probably ready to go off at any second.

“Quick, Gengar, use Protect,” he yelled. Gengar nodded and readied her own shield, much like Haji had done. She was glad they were protecting the Trainer, she didn't want Gengar to be distracted from what she was doing.

Seconds ticked by, and then Ivy heard a bellow, as she assumed the Snorlax was being sapped. A faint green shone through the smoke, showing the energy returning to the ghost. Then she saw the flash of yellow, and the crack the Thunderbolt made as it connected with the miniature copy was so loud it made her cringe and jump a little. A small, somewhat warped cry of the clone Gengar sounded, and the fog lightened up a little bit as she saw it slam into the ground a few meters away from the Snorlax. Thankfully, the excess sparks from the bolt stayed close, and since Snorlax was focused on the attacking clone, the real Gengar stayed safe.

She could make out the mammoth of a Pokémon better now, her dark parts of her coat making an outline. Ivy saw her ready another attack, stepping back and bracing her feet apart as she focused on the ground. She recalled Leo having a Snorlax that he named Landquake. It was for good reason. She knew what this one was going to do.

“Look out, Chris! That looks like the start of an Earthquake!”

Normally Gengar was able to float high above the ground and avoid attacks like that, but the Sub had been knocked to the ground, and both of them were tired. If Chris wanted to save the copy, he was going to have to think fast. She supposed it had done its share of the work though, so there was no harm in letting it fade if he needed to. It could serve as a distraction maybe, but attacking a rampaging Snorlax was probably not smart.

Again, the Trainer was going to have to think quick and come up with something. It seemed this Snorlax was more focused on the offensive part of battling. Maybe it was in a hurry, like to check out what Haji had felt before.

I watched Ivy's Haji dash around the Botanical grass and expanded a giant circle of psychic energy around us. A thin, almost-invisible half circle appeared in front of us, glinting with a hint of purple, It coated like a massive rainbow, which shone brightly within the sun. Snorlax looked angry. However, the barrier almost protected myself from any oncoming bombarding attacks from Snorlax. This was a good, and kind gift from Ivy to use her Espeon to use a protection barrier around the team.

I had a bad experience with water last time I met my Snorlax. I really dislike being splashed in the face and everything because it reminds me of Godzilla- lax. The terrifying Snorlax, which crushed many towns and villages. The water from the ocean that surfed through the town swept every building down and washed throughout the streets. Therefore, when I felt the gigantous tide flushed towards me I was so scared I would lose my life. This is why I am not a fan of water as I used to be. I used to love swimming and everything, but now I am kind of scared of the cold flushing liquid into my pale face.

I started to breath heavily because I was shocked what to do next. So when I decided to ask my foggy ghost to Protect. I felt it was a rushed idea and that my actions were to too quick. However, I also demanded the cloned Gengar to make an assault on Snorlax with a Giga Drain. The clone dashed in the direction of the giant, tubby, teddy bear and directly. However, the giant bear was still sparking up a powerful Thunderbolt attack. This Thunderbolt attack crackled fiercely behind the foggy sheets. It was ready to thunder off quickly into my poisonous ghost. However, my own Gengar started to make a giant shield, which was a thin, almost-invisible half circle, glinting with a hint of green. This would protect her from any incoming attack. Unless it was a Feint or something similar to that.

The other cloned Gengar's Giga Drain attack flashed Snorlax with a faint green, smole, which sucked energy that levitated back towards the poisonous ghost. Suddenly, a flash of yellow light illuminated across the fog and the Snorlax' Thunderbolt sparked the substitute Gengar. I saw it cringe and jump around in a pain. I heard it cry a little and watched it slam across the Botanical grounds away from Snorlax. However, the sparks only attacked the substitute Gengar and left the original Gengar spare of damage and remained safe. I was so pleased with how this quick defending movements worked out.

"Good Job Gengar," I shouted. I always liked to praise my Pokemon because they did all the work and I just assisted with some speech. I also waved at her whilst she tilted her purple head and saw my wave. She smiled slightly and was still in some kind of pain. I was worried about her and she knew about it. I wanted to just go snuggle my arms around Gengar and squeeze tightly. We always enjoyed a hug between Trainer and Pokemon. Suddenly, as the tainted fog removed from the Botanical Gardens, the mammoth of a Pokemon was clearly visable now. Behind me slightly I heard a scuff across the ground. It sounded like Haji was bracining itself for a Snorlax assault. Did she think something big was going to happen? Therefore, did I not know about this special onslaught that the teddy bear could achieve. Only time will tell. Something tells me I must remain on my toes more effectively.

"Look out, Chris! That looks like the start of an Earthquake!" I heard this call out to me. It was Ivy as she shouted what Snorlax was going to. It sounded like a terrifying attempt. We could all be injured viciously by this quaking technique the giant bear was plotting. I saw Gengar seem to sweat slightly and was worried about her abilities. Therefore, because the Substitute was on the ground and both of the Real copy, and the cloned copy are injured.. The Levitate ability was not able to dodge the attack like it normally would. Therefore, Snorlax' Earthquake would be Super Effective on the Gengar pair because Ground beats Poison. I had to think quick as I saw Snorlax pound the ground slightly as dirt churned up from beneath it.

"Gengar, we need a plan. I know your Substitute is down but we need it to help us here." I shouted to my trusty ghost. "I have a quick plan think we could do it together like normal?" I proposed the question to the modest Gengar who turned around quickly and nodded. It's as if she knew what I had planned before I did. We was in synch with each other like a Psychic Pokemon and their mind connections. I know Gengar was no Psychic Pokemon but to me I felt there was a Psychic Pokemon like connection between us.

"Gengar, I need you to order your Substitute self to use Sucker Punch." I shouted to Gengar, she seemed happy with the idea and nobbed quickly at me. My plan with Sucker Punch was to use the priority effects of this attack to maybe hit Snorlax. Therefore, if it is successful it could possibly make the Earthquake attack do less damage because Snorlax might be off balance. It seemed good on paper, but would it work? My other idea was to use my Gengar to use another attack off the Botanical Ground to remove it from the ground. Gengar had a lot of speed and might be able to pull it off. However, this might count as destroying the Garden, which is also a bad idea. Scratch that idea, perhaps I can come up with something better, but I had to be quick. Gengar learns Will-O-Wisp. This attack may lower Snorlax' Earthquake assault.. well possibly the damage it would make. However, would it work? Only time will tell and actions speak louder than words. This fiery aura attack would levitate slowly at Snorlax. However, my plan was to hopefully make the Substitute's Sucker Punch attack to possibly slow it down... It was a long shot, but it was all I had.

"Gengar, use Will-O-Wisp on Snorlax!" I shouted. Gengar quickly weaved her purple arms around and shafted out a fiery ball... Similarly, the cloned Gengar suddenly shot up and was ready to also attack... But was it a fail attempt..?

    ---

Chris wanted to save the Substitute. She could see it in the way he was rapidly trying to think of a plan to execute next, calculating his options and evaluating the playing field. She did the same on her own personal runs, when she was trying to prevent her partners from getting hurt. His Gengar seemed to understand this, even though the ghost wasn't part Psychic. Ivy didn't really think that mattered though, as she had seen just as many Ghost-type Pokémon communicate with their Trainers easily enough through some sort of telepathy.

Finally they had some sort of plan, and Chris shouted, “Gengar, I need you to order your Substitute self to use Sucker Punch.” If they got a preemptive attack on Snorlax, there was a chance that her ability to cause destruction would be lessened from the surprise. Chris then added, “Gengar, use Will-o-Wisp on Snorlax!”

It was a good idea to keep both copies moving and attacking if they could. He might as well, since the sub was still around at the moment. She wasn't sure how long it would last, but any last-minute damage it did would be helpful. Burn was also an interesting choice. It caused a Pokémon damage over time, and it also made it hard for an afflicted creature to move since the burn agitated the skin. It gradually sapped energy just like any other status, only it made it hard to maneuver as well.

The Snorlax looked to be ready to stamp the ground, and Gengar wasted no time. Ghastly fire appeared in five floating spots in front of her, bobbing up and down subtly. They shot off after Snorlax in a chain, weaving through the air like a snake would on the ground. They sped up as they neared the target.

Snorlax, too occupied with her own attack, didn't see it coming. The fire engulfed her for a second, and Ivy caught sight of the scorch marks just before the Substitute struck. With a blindingly fast fist, the copy smacked the Snorlax, and the big Pokémon went down.

She failed about with wild arms and toppled backward. Unfortunately, the force was enough to send the ground rumbling, and Ivy and Haji had to catch themselves as they staggered. It was easier for Haji since the Espeon was much closer to the ground. She probably looked silly flailing about.

The ground heaved with energy as the Earthquake was triggered, and the copy was caught up in the act. The dirt rose up to strike it, and already low in health, it gave the group a grin and a tired wave as it disappeared in a poof of gold smoke, too spent to continue.

It hadn't been for waste though. Gengar was still no more harmed than she had been, and now the Snorlax was taking damage from the burn and semi helpless as she rolled on the ground. She was trying to get back on her feet, but her weight just wasn't agreeing with her. She couldn't turn enough in one direction to flip over and get a limb under her.

“You've got her on the run now, Chris! Just a little more!” she called as she watched the Snorlax rock back and forth. There wouldn't be much needed now for him to capture this behemoth of a Pokémon.

As I watched patiently as my poisonous Gengar and the Substitute Gengar got to work with our secret, special plan. I waited anxiously as the strategy was put into movement. I sent the Gengar Clone to Sucker Punch Snorlax to hopefully slow it down a few and then my trusty partner to Will-O-Wisp. That way the Earthquake impact could be lowered through this mysterious burn aura. I watched as Snorlax prepared to stomp the hard ground and then my foggy Partner dashed into action. The Modest, foggy ghost sent a ghastly fire, which appeared in five floating spots in front of her. They were then levitated quickly in the direction of Snorlax like a chain link. They snaked at Snorlax and engulfed the teddy bear. This was because she was too busy Earthquaking the floor.

Snorlax fell to ground for a moment and my feet started to shake a little. I did not expect the overweight creature to make such a stumble. However, I was glad my strategy worked and I was so relieved. I could see my burn was also searing Snorlax... or so it seemed, which is a bonus because it was getting weaker. I was so pleased with Gengar and her special Substitute partner. They worked as such a great team I was amazed... Well I was sure they would do a fine job, but knowing my partner she would be modest about her achievements liek always.

"Good work Gengar, I am proud of your hard work!" I shouted loudly and waved. I was so pleased my quick thinking worked and was not too careless as I thought it would be. I noticed Snorlax trying to hoist herself off the Botantical Ground and it was failing to work. I kinda sniggered to myself because it was funny to watch. However, I also felt bad because I cared for Snorlax like my Snorlax I already own. Similarly, God-Zilla Lax as it used to be called could use with a female friend around to protect her from my Psychic Pokemon. They would stop the disputes that keep occuring, over, and over, and over again.

"You've got her on the run nowm Chris! Just a little more!" Ivy shouted to me. Ivy seemed to be enjoying the battle very well and with her awesome Espeon also enjoying the show. They seemed to believe in me... As if I had friends. I remember when I used to have some best friends but they ditched me for Girlfriends, or other people, I had none. This was not until I had Pokemon to replace them. I felt ready to throw my Hyper Ball. However, since I was low on Park Resources I felt this would be my last capture on this run.

"Gengar, we have one more attack to launch on Snorlax. Be gentle though we do not wanna make it faint!" I shouted loudly to Gengar. She tilted her head and nodded as usual and then I quickly plotted in my mind what to use. I felt damaging it a little more might be a good idea and I believe that Gengar had a lot of energy left to achieve this. How about I throw in a Ice Punch. "Gengar use Ice Punch, but target its outer part of its body!" I decided to use this strategy because it might take less damage and might not be a weak spot. Well I hoped it was like that anyways. Gengar started to frost up her poisonous, purple claws and gritted her teeth and smiled. She was ready to attack... but would it hit and do what I would like it to? When Gengar launches her attack I will throw the Hyper Ball as well directly after the assault if it works.

I met some amazing people along the way... Leo... Alaska... Ivy. All good people with good caring hearts towards Pokemon. However, Alaska was some weirdo with a drug habit. I am kinda glad I got away from her before she infected me with her diseases like clap, aids, hiv, the normal drugged up stuff these fifteen year old kids were on. Reminds me of England! xD! But nah, I have learnt the true meaning of friendship by running around with these three amazing people. I know that I can trust them over my original friends because they will be their! Even in spirit. Now I will grab this damn, sphere like ball and toss it at Snorlax. I watched carefully as Gengar used her attack and I was hoping for good results. I then tossed the hyper ball quickly towards Snorlax after Gengar had leapt towards it... Let's hope this works.

"Please work!" I shouted and directed my shout at Ivy... I was pleased Ivy took over for me. She was such a cool lady and I loved her Espeon, Haji. I mean Psychic Pokemon are pure win, but so are Poison Pokemon as well. However, I prefer Psychic! :3 They are just soo cool and have good movepools. I am this close to obtaining all possible ones within my collection. Munna, Unown, Chingling, and Slowpoke are left! I am almost there! I can do this, like I can do this park run! ;D

With another confidence boost to his Gengar, Chris decided their next course of action. Ivy was glad to see a Trainer that cared so much about their partners. Some Trainers were tough or just didn't care, and that was sad to see when the Pokémon got hurt. They tended to not mix well with the Park either, since a sort of respect for nature was one of the requirements to do well here.

“Gengar, we have one more attack to launch on Snorlax. Be gentle though. We do not wanna make it faint!” Chris asked his partner to use an Ice Punch on the large Pokémon as some last minute damage before he was going to throw his Hyper Ball.

The ghost agreed and nodded, and her fist froze over with icy smoke as she moved to strike the Snorlax. The large Pokémon was still failing about on the ground, unable to get up. She seemed to know when Gengar was swooping in, but as she swiped at her, Gengar simply avoided and went in. The ghost struck the side of her, just one more little bit of damage.

When she got out of the way, Chris threw the ball. It soared through the air and connected with the Snorlax on the center of her flabby belly. In a beam of red light, her form shrunk and twisted into the ball, falling to the ground with a sloshy plop from the water remaining.

It shook once, twice, three times and then stilled. Everything was quiet for a heart stopping moment, and then the resounding ping came to their ears as the ball's tiny center lit up red and the device locked.

“Way to go,” Ivy said, going over to inspect the ball. Her feet sunk into the ground a little bit, and the ball was a little grimy. She wiped it off on her vest and unzipped a pocket so it could join the other one. She made a mental note to wash the coat later. “So what now?” she asked. That battle had taken a while, and she wasn't sure how far into the Park Chris wanted to go. Some Trainers explored every inch and saw as many mons as they could see while others simply caught a couple they wanted and left. She would leave the choice up to him either way.

With capturing SNorlax finally, which took a long time as well. Similarly, capturing Deerling was also a dun Pokemon to capture. I would like to leave the park. This is because my resources are not up to scratch to continue. Thanks Ivy for taking me through the Botanical Gardens! I gained a lot of experience here and can use that again elsewhere. I wouldalso like to thank Haji for protecting my from other Pokemon attacks. I felt like I should stroke Haji, however she might get touchy and attack me! I ran over to Gengar and hugged her because she did all the work.

Chris ran over to give his Gengar a hug, showing his appreciation for all the hard work she had done today. It was very clear that they had a close bond, and Ivy was glad to see it. A brushing against her legs made her look down, and she found Haji there, reminding her that she had that type of bond too. She crouched down to scratch his ears, and while the Espeon didn't show it on the outside, she felt him beaming (or as close as he got to that) from their mental link.

The Trainer had enough of the Park after this though, mentioning something about insufficient equipment. She just smiled and agreed to take him back, signaling for Haji to warp them back to the Main Outpost. She had that happen often, when a Trainer was frustrated that they didn't have enough Park Balls or items to heal their partners. It happened.

Back at the main office, she had Chris fill out the final bits of paperwork as she went to heal his new Pokémon and register them under his Trainer ID. When that was done, she gave them back and thanked him, hoping that he'd come back to the Park some day.

Ivy watched him leave and then retreated to her own office so she could get started on her paperwork. Haji followed after, and when she sat down in her rolling chair and propped her feet up on the corner of the desk for a moment, he jumped up on her lap. All in all it had been a good day.

She stroked his fur as he settled down for a nap, and she thought that wasn't such a bad idea.
