Ranger Jack Fenix

The ranger office was a little busy today there were a few rangers there. Ivy, Chainy, and Ataro could be seen walking around the place. Leo happened to be going to the bathroom at that time.

Jack was currently sitting in his office chair; his legs propped up his desk. He had his head leaned back and resting on the head of the chair. He currently had a white folder resting on his face and a soft snore could be heard coming from him; he was sleeping.

He had tried to get to work, he really did, but he couldn’t bring himself to work, even if it meant doing a run, and because of it, he was now late for his run. There were no signs of him waking up any time soon either.

That’s when the other rangers noticed the time. Chainy was the first to say something.

“Hey isn’t there a run that’s starting now, whos running him?” Chainy asked to anyone that was listening. Ivy was the one that answered

“Yeah and Jack is supposed to be running him.” They all looked over at his desk to see he was indeed still there, they weren’t impressed. Ivy decided to take it into her hands and do something about it. She looked at Chainy

“let me borrow Dual for a second.”

“Sure, why?”

“Well we have to make sure he gets to his run on time.” She winked

Chainy just smiled and handed her Dual’s ball as she walked over. Then she made her way over to Jack. She released the pokemon inside and revealed the Gallade.

“Dual, can I have you teleport sleepy Jack here to Mt. Oktori entrance please?”

He looked over at Chainy and he just shrugged, Dual took it as a yes and touched Jack’s shoulder. In an instant they disappeared.
Jack was dreaming that he was on the beach, a beach chair and a nice cold drink next to him. It was a good dream, that was, until all of a sudden the dream changed and he was covered in snow.

He shot up from his sleep to see him at the entrance of the cold mountain and a Gallade next to him. He looked at his watch as if to confirm something and figured it all out. “That son of a…!” Jack looked at Dual.

“You tell them that was far from cool and I will get them back!” Jack said, he would have said it angry but he was too cold, he didn’t even have a jacket, which reminded him. “And tell them to bring me a goddamned jacket!” Dual laughed in his pokemon way and disappeared. A few seconds later he reappeared and disappeared before he could say thank you, not that Jack would, it seemed they were ready for a jacket when Dual got back.

He picked the jacket off the ground and shook the snow off of it; thank god it was a big jacket because today the weather at Oktori was pretty nippy. He put it on and felt instantly warmer. He then looked around for Alonzo (He stayed awake long enough to see the trainer’s name). Jack was sure he was already here.

"Alakazam, use Focus Blast on that tree!" I commanded Alakazam, one of my earliest Pokemon that I received years ago.

"Alakazaaaaaaam," she responded back. Her arms slowly centered to the middle of her body and the spoons started to glow a brightly-colored silver.

Alakazam focused her attention and eased down; slowly a light blue ball of chi formed in front of her. The energy greatly intensified, and the shot was fired with immense force.

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!

The tall oakwood tree that once stood strong above the area was now completely obliterated from the intensity of the blast. The tree collapsed and smoke shrouded the area.

The yellow human-shaped Pokemon turned her body towards me and lowered her arms after dealing that damage to the tree; the spoons in her hand were still brightly glowing silver, as were her eyes. I smiled at Alakazam with satisfaction, but somehow looking at her reminded me that I had somewhere to attend to.

I looked down at my watch and remembered that I had a park run at Mt.Oktori. My attention shifted suddenly at the sky as I started to think to myself that there was no way that I could make it on time by foot.

"Alakazam, we've passed Mt. Oktori on our way here. I want you to use Teleport and bring us there," I said. We both looked at each other and she nodded.

Alakazam walked towards me and I grabbed its arm. We both disappeared, and within moments we both appeared right in front of several people standing at the entrance. I took a couple looks at them and I assumed one of them had to be my ranger.

I walked up to them and greeted myself. "Hello, I'm Alonzo... I'm supposed to be here for a run through this area? Any of you happen to be my ranger?" I asked curiously.

One of them looked like they would fall asleep at any given second. I thought that it couldn't have been my ranger, but if it was, I wouldn't have any issues with that. As long as I have someone willing to take me through, it's fine by me.

Ranger Jack Fenix

Jack walked among the few other people that were crazy enough to stay at the outpost located at Mt. Oktori. He was looking for Alonzo however he had three problems. The first one was he never saw what Alonzo looked like. The other two problems were related, the second was he was pissed at Ivy, the third was cold. Because of these two things he didn’t bother to try and take out Alonzo’s profile to see what he looked like, so he just waited to see what would happen.

Then a little bit from where Jack was a trainer appeared with an Alakazam by his side. This only worked to irk Jack more because it reminded him of what Dual had done. Then he heard the trainer call out. He was looking for his ranger, and lone behold, his name was Alonzo.

Jack sighed, looks like it was time to start the run. He walked towards the trainer, his hands in his pocket. When he came to him he nodded and then yawned without covering his mouth. He then introduced himself.

“Hello, I’m Jack, I’ll be your ranger today, I will take you around Mt. Oktori until we encounter 15 different pokemon or until you choose to leave. After either of these events occur, I will then escort you from the park, until then, I hope you run into good pokemon, now shall we begin?” Jack said this all quite fast as if rehearsed, and on top of this he sounded bored the whole way through. He then added on something under his breath. “I hope this ends quick I have to get my payback on Ivy.” The whole run Jack would be contemplating on how he could get back at Ivy.

Jack then decided that Alonzo would follow him.

“Follow me now.” Jack just said. He pulled out a pokeball and opened it right from his hand. A Yanmega materialized right in front of them both and Jack hopped on his pokemon’s back. “This is Serenity; she’ll be with us for the trip. Serenity’s wings began to flap fast and she lifted off the ground. She called in her own tongue and rose into the air 10 feet in a second.

“Good god Serenity! Don’t do that when Im on you!” Jack had some weird pokemon. A very serious and boring Froslass, and a hyperactive, speed loving Yanmega.

“You can race someone later, for now let’s lead this guy around the mountain.” Serenity agreed and even slowed down the beating of her wings so it wasn’t as loud. The three of them continued on, Jack riding on Serenity and Alonzo following behind.

After walking a little, I finally heard something. Up ahead was a small snow covered cave and Jack heard something inside and told Serenity to land. She did and Jack hopped off, he went to the entrance and peered inside. Inside was a Machop and it was busy moving medium sized rocks around the cave. Jack guessed this was Machop’s way of rooming up the place. Jack turned to Alonzo.

“So would you like a Machop?” He asked.

The cave we were approaching was covered in snow from as far as my eye could see. My light brown t-shirt was not helping me out in any way in weather like this.

"Let me get my jacket real quick," I softly said to myself. I reached into my backpack and pulled out an Adidas jacket. It was primarily black, but of course had the signature three white stripes in several areas of the sleeves and body part. The jacket wasn't the best to keep warmth for someone, but it did it's job for the most part.

I didn't really hear a noise, but I still followed Ranger Jack Fenix, riding his Yanmega, to the cave. Apparently his hearing is slightly better than mine, or he's just hearing things. Either way, it was more interesting to walk to areas I've never been to before.

“So would you like a Machop?” He asked. My attention shifted towards my Ranger focusing his attention on the Machop that was moving rocks around.

I remembered that I already had a Machop. I wasn't too interested in capturing another one; I was fine with just one, even though it evolved into a Machamp already. My eyes locked onto the Machop, then turned back at Ranger Jack Fenix.

"I'm not too interested in getting another one of these, sorry. Can we move on? If we can't move on without it noticing, we could use my Pokedoll," I said. My eyes looked back and forth at the muscular Pokemon and my ranger.

After contemplating, I took a sigh of relief for even having a Pokedoll in a situation like this. Unfortunately since it was my last one, I'll be needing to stop by the shop and pick up a few more.

I stood there with feet firmly planted on the ground. The only noise that was heard was the sound of the rocks being tossed around by the lone Pokemon that appeared as if it had a tough mission it needed to accomplish. My ears eagerly waited for Ranger Jack Fenix's response.

Ranger Jack Fenix

“No that’s okay, we can keep goin then” Jack said as he hopped back on Serenity. The Machop seemed to have not seen them at all and the group moved on further down the mountain. They continued on their wide path the high mountain continuing on up to their left.

They kept moving along and the wind kicked up a little. As lazy as Jack was he was colder sitting still and decided he’d have to get off of Serenity soon. However before he did he looked ahead and noticed a wider area in their path. There were a few snow covered trees up ahead and he could see a small bipedal figure up ahead.

“So theres a pokemon up ahead, Im not sure what it is but it has two legs for sure.”
They continued on until they entered the area and there in the middle doing a little self sparring was the bipedal pokemon Jack mentioned. It was skinny and blue. It had black lines across its skin. It also looked to have a white judo jacket on. It was a Sawk.

“Well Alonzo, would you like a Sawk?” Jack asked jumping down from Serenity, and putting his hands in his pockets.

I couldn't quite see it for sure, so I wasn't able to make any judgement on if I wanted it or not. Once we approached it, I got a much better view of what Ranger Jack Fenix was talking about. It was skinny and blue. It had black lines across its skin. It also looked to have a white judo jacket on. It was at this moment that I found out that we encountered a Sawk.

“Well Alonzo, would you like a Sawk?” Jack asked jumping down from Serenity, and putting his hands in his pockets.

I put deep thought into this decision, but I finally came across a final answer. I firmly stood on the ground, and then looked towards my ranger who appeared to be patiently waiting for my decision so we could either prepare ourselves for the battle or keep proceeding.

"I'll stay," I said. My hands dug deep into my pocket, and out came a shiny red Pokeball, about the size of an orange. Casting my arm behind my back and then lunging out while releasing the Pokeball sent it flying in the sky. The ball made contact with the floor, bringing one of my oldest Pokemon out; Yanmega!

"Megaaaaaa!" My bug Pokemon said bravely. Yanmega is a large, dark green dragonfly. Each of Yanmega's segments have a red spot on them. It has two black triangular plates on the back of its thorax and another plate on its head, and it has red and white wings that it rapidly moves to keep it in motion.

"Yanmega, use Supersonic!" I shouted. My fist clutched as I said my command to my bug.

Yanmega nodded, and it's wings started to flap even faster than before. Maybe this helps prepare it for a move it's about to make? The large dragonfly opened its mouth wide as it started to generate odd, transparent sound waves from its body.

I couldn't forget about my Pokemon's ability, Speed Boost. That may come in handy later on...

BP:
Buzz sat behind his wooden desk scrolling through the park website. He had been trying to circumvent the Park Firewall, when an instant message popped up; it was from Jack Fenix, who was one of the newer Rangers.

"Hey guys, my family is moving over on the mainland and they need my help. I'm out on a run at the moment and need someone to take over."​

Buzz sighed, guessing that he should actually do work rather than trying to get to dubious websites on the Park's internet. Buzz replied confirming that he was free; within seconds Jack had replied attaching the details of the file. Buzz scrolled through the pdf file, it seemed the run was up at Mount Oktori. Buzz had been there before, but not for very long, and was eager to go again. Pokémon he had never seen before lived up there, although not a huge fan of ice types, it was always nice to see new Pokémon.

Buzz shut down the computer and proceeded to gather his supplies. This was relatively simple since he had his special Item Balls; modified Poké Balls, that served the purpose of containing items. After he made sure he had all the spare Poké Dolls and healing items, he gathered up his Poké Balls. River Tam, who usually didn't stay in her Poké Ball at headquarters, teleported into the room as he was about to call her. Telepathy had its advantages.

"Come on, I'm assuming you already know where we're going so lets get out there," Buzz said to the green bird that fluttered onto his desk.

"Do you have to bring her along?" River said, along their telepathic link, looking down at one of the Pokéballs on Buzz's belt. Buzz looked at the Poké Ball in question and realised who River was talking about. Buzz sighed, this had started recently the two just couldn't get along. Buzz figured was the base typing taking over.

"Look, I get it. You're scared of Ghosts, for obvious reasons, but she is well trained and her fire typing will come in handy should worst come to worst over at Oktori. So, she is coming!" Buzz said with a strong hint of finality in his tone.

"Fine, but i'm coming back to HQ to hang out with Ivy."

In a flash of pink light Buzz found himself at the base of the icy mountain. River had already teleported away. Buzz pulled the big coat he had on tight against his body, the cold air stung his face. He looked around for the traineer and caught sight of a trainer along with a Yanmega. In front of them was a blue creature. It was kitted out in a Karate suit.

"Yanmega, use Supersonic!" He shouted. Buzz sighed, he hated joining trainers mid battle but he did his best to run on the icy path.

"Hi there, I'm Buzz. Jack had to go so I'm taking over. I see you're battling a Sawk so we can talk more later," Buzz said quickly as not to distract the Trainer. Yanmega's wings had begun flapping intensely. Supersonic was an attack designed to induce confusion in the target, and as the transparent sound waves travelled forwards and reached the fighting type it was clear that the effect had worked. A dazed look had crossed its eyes.

Even through its confused look upon its face it seemed to be flexing its arms and legs. The muscles tightened as the Sawk began preparing for the battle. Buzz spotted the Yanmega's body began to glow ever so slightly then its movements in the air appeared to become more nimble and agile. The battle was in its early stages there was a long way to go yet.

The silence of the battle after the attacks was made was suspenseful. I had a positive and a negative thing to think about as this battle progressed. For one, Yanmega became more agile thanks to the speed boost of its ability. This could definitely work out to my advantage for the battle. But on the other hand, Sawk strengthened itself through the use of Bulk Up. That definitely can't be good, but thank goodness my moves are special-based as opposed to physical. This means that the power of my moves haven't been hindered.

"Well, now's our chance. Use Shadow Ball, then follow up with Psychic to control the direction of Shadow Ball" I commanded the large bug Pokemon. It's wings flapped faster in agreement as it soon gathered the shadows of nearby locations. The shadows combined into a black and purple ball of energy, which was then fired at Sawk.

Yanmega moved a bit due to the power of the move sending its body back. The large, flying insect acknowledged my next command and started to prepare itself even more. The wings on the back of its huge body moved rapidly as it started to prepare for Psychic.

"You know what to do now," I said. Yanmega's eyes started to glow a bright red as it's body gained a light blue aura around it. The Shadow Ball gained the same aura as the large bug did. The Shadow Ball was now able to be used at Yanmega's complete will. I was also hoping that the use of Psychic would help boost the power and impact of Shadow Ball.

"Good job!" I congratulated my Pokemon. "Let's see where this takes us..."

"Well, now's our chance. Use Shadow Ball, then follow up with Psychic to control the direction of Shadow Ball," Alonzo commanded the large bug Pokemon. Buzz had seen this kind of technique used before, the telekinetic powers of Psychic often allowed for precise and damaging hits.

The large bug Pokémon began to focus its energy; a large black sphere formed. A swirling purple edge lined the Shadow Ball as it was fired off towards the Blue Pokémon. The air quivered as the mysterious attack headed towards its target.

Sawk saw the attack and deftly flipped to its right hoping to avoid the Shadow Ball, but the psychic energy imbibed into the shadow tracked the fighting type. The Sawk kept dodging till it was backed up against an icy rock. The glazed look in its eyes took over just as it tried to jump over the oncoming energy.

There was a blast of energy as the ball exploded over the fighting type, Sawk was flung backwards into the icy rock scattering shards of ice across the battlefield.

Clambering back to its feet the Sawk returned to fighting stance, its eyes shone brightly as it threw its fists hard into the ground, the shards of ice were sent into the air around the Karate Pokémon. In another burst of energy the shards were sent hurtling down onto the hovering Yanmega, a remarkable adaptation of the Rock Slide technique.

Yanmega fluttered down as the effect of the attack hit. Buzz watched as the Yanmega began to tumble. Buzz was sure it was going to crash into the ground until its wings seemed to shimmer. There was a sudden boom of energy, and with an increased burst of speed the bug Pokémon whizzed back high into the sky.

Buzz glanced up; the sun was shining high in the sky and he could tell that anywhere else in the park it would be a lovely day, but at Mount Oktori the fiersome icy winds that whipped around the mountain caused sub-zero temperatures all year round. Buzz thought, although it made for cold weather, it could often be utilised by trainers to give a battling advantage.
