Individual RP: Fawkes

Jack had been sleeping when his newly promoted boss noticed and, as he had figured, rudely woke him up. He had just gotten back from moving his family to a new home. While he was gone Ivy had been promoted and today was the first day he realized he wasn’t going to like a new boss.

“Hey, lazybones,” Ivy called. Jack;s head popped up, sleep plastered across his face. His head fell over to look at Ivy.

“Why don't you do some work around here? Your paperwork needs finishing, and everyone missed a run that's been sitting here almost a week. Or do you need help finding something else?”

Jack decided against speaking, considering the sleep still all over him and instead shook his head with the grace of a disable giraffe. His hand crawled over to a pen and looked down at the paperwork. He wasn’t at all excited about what he saw. He looked up again when he heard Ivy’s voice.

“That better be done when I get back.” Jack rolled his eyes and placed his head on his propped up arm. His eyes staring ahead at Ivy, but not actually seeing considering he had just woke up. That was, until his attention was grabbed for a few seconds by Ivy’s swaying hips. Jack considered this an okay price to pay for being woken up. Once she was gone he looked down at the work, he figured it was the least he could do for that little spectacle. So he began on what he hardly ever did: paperwork.

It didn’t go for very long though. Jack caught the words of one of the secretaries at the front desk. There was a new run that just got posted up and Jack thought this was the perfect opportunity. He dragged himself out of his seat and to the front counter. The secretary had just dropped it in the waiting traners box and he grabbed it out, whilst nodding at the woman. He went back to his office and grabbed the essentials he needed for the run. He opened the file and saw the guys name was Daniel. After getting packed he went outside and looked around in the sky. He was able to spot a few flying pokemon and called up.

“Serenity! Come on down, were going to Mt. Oktori!” One of the dots heard him and came flying down at an incredible speed. Jack guessed she was racing a stray Staraptor. Jack hopped on and they flew towards one of the two mountains in the park.

When they got to the outpost they descended until he could jump off but choose not to. Serenity’s dragonfly like wings beat with a light clicking sound as they kept them afloat. Jack looked around for their trainer.

Last time I came to the National Park I used the communal shuttle system, which I did not like at all, all those dodgy people and crying babies...ugh...this time I decided to enter in style.

Clots of mud from the ground was unearthed and launched into the air by the thunderous beats of the fiery canines paws. I grappled onto the graceful mane of the pokemon and placed my feet gently onto the boney part of it's underbelly so as to give myself the best hold on the Pokemon. My Arcanine was used to giving me lifts, I regularly rode him to school if I was ever too late. Although he didn't mind taking me places it did tire him out so I only ever did it when I'm in a rush, which I am today since my ranger is probably already here waiting for me.

Today I was going to Mount Oktori, A large snowy mountain scape where an abundance of Ice and Fighting types dwell, for this I decided to bring Arcanine as well as my other pokemon, Conkelldurr and Swampert.

I zipped up my large overcoat to my chin and bringing my woolly hat down past my ears in order to minimize any heat loss, while simultaneously maintaining my balance on the racing Arcanine. I could tell we were getting closer since the roadsides we were travelling down was becoming more and more snowy. Soon the road had disappeared sheathed beneath the blanket of snow. The mountains came into view as well and we slowed down.

"Okay Holden that's enough we're here" I dismounted the legendary pokemon and straightened my back out, ignoring the multiple cracking of bones as I did so. I started trudging through the snow making my way to the foot of the mountain. I decided to stay close to Holden as we walked, utilizing the heat he gives off to keep me slightly warmer.

A small cabin sat on top of a small mound just ahead, I assumed this was the outpost and kept an eye out for my ranger. I arrived at the cabin door and saw no ranger in sight outside. I knocked on the cabin door thinking he or she was sitting the cold out inside the cabin. After knocking a few times there was no answer and suddenly it dawned on me that I might have came to the wrong mountain since there are two that make up Mount Oktori. I descended the small set of steps that led up to the cabin and noticed a floating body. Hoping that it was my ranger and I won't have to make my way towards the other side of the mountain, I approached. A buzzing sound got louder and louder as I got closer and I checked around me just in case it was something other than the figure ahead of me. Floating a few feet off the ground was what I assumed to be my ranger, straddling a dragon fly like pokemon.

"Hi, I'm Daniel Are you my ranger for today?"

Jack looked over at the new voice directed at him.

"Hi, I'm Daniel Are you my ranger for today?" Jack thought back to the words he didn’t really look at in the trainer profile vaguely remembering that the name of the trainer started with a D. He looked around for another ranger or a trainer just to double check and when he saw none, he made his conclusion.

“Yep I suppose I am.” Jack said and he jumped down from Serenity. He walked over and began to speak in his rehearsed tone.

“Welcome to the national park, I am Jack and I will be your guide throughout the park and pokemon we meet you are free to try and catch; however, you are only allowed three to leave with you. I will carry the pokemon you catch, then at the end you can choose which you would like to keep. Any damage done to the park will be looked at and if the action is bad enough I can escort you out of the park. Any questions?” Jack said his rehearsed voice finally going away. Knowing that there were not any questions considering there were never any questions to be had, he turned towards the mountain ahead of him.

“Now, would you like to go further up the mountain, or would you like to stay down here and see what we find?” Jack asked Daniel

the ranger looked startled by my question, and started looking back and forth around us as if looking for someone else. After being satisfied by our solitude he hopped off the hovering Yanmega and onto the powdery snow.

“Yep I suppose I am.” He said as he continued to walk off, He cleared his throat and took in a deep breath.

“Welcome to the national park, I am Jack and I will be your guide throughout the park and pokemon we meet you are free to try and catch; however, you are only allowed three to leave with you. I will carry the pokemon you catch, then at the end you can choose which you would like to keep. Any damage done to the park will be looked at and if the action is bad enough I can escort you out of the park. Any questions?” He said in one long breath, the whole speech sounded very monotonal as if he had said it almost systematically, obviously he must of rehearsed this to every syllable and learned it off by heart.

Once taking a breath to refresh his lungs he turned to me knowing I should not have any questions after his speech.

“Now, would you like to go further up the mountain, or would you like to stay down here and see what we find?” he asked.

I thought about the types of pokemon I might find in each part and figured the stronger ones would be up the mountain, just like what I discovered when I visited the Meteor valleys so wanting to play it safe I decided to stay close to the foot of the mountain. However I understood that I would have to face the Mountain sooner or later.

"Lets stay down here for the moment and head up the mountain later, if that's okay with you?"

Jack waited for Daniel to respond, he didn’t mind considering how lazy he was. After a little bit of thinking Daniel answered his question.

"Let’s stay down here for the moment and head up the mountain later, if that's okay with you?" Daniel responded.

“Sure it is, so up ahead we go” Jack answered back and the two of them walked ahead on the more level left path, in comparison to the more steeper right path. Jack knew there were more paths up the hill ahead so if Daniel elected to move further up they would be okay with it. As they walked Jack noticed the weather. It was calm, and dark. He had been sent out early and the sun would be coming out soon. Thick flurries came down slowly and with no wind, it made things calm. The main thing you could hear was the beating wings of Serenity as she flew left and right in fast bursts, her love for speed getting the best of her. He smiled as he watched Serenity soar up into the air and shoot back down towards them. His pokemon’s personalities were very different than his own but he loved them nonetheless. When Serenity made her decent she flew in front of Jack and bent her tail to use a direction pointer. Jack knew what that ment.

“Hey Daniel, it looks like you’re going to have your first encounter today. Serenity told me she’s seen something up ahead.

As they walked ahead they saw found a steep part of the mountain going down into a clearing. At the top was what looked like big snow balls. At the bottom was a Brown human looking pokemon. Its body seemed to be its head as well. Suddenly the giant snowmen bodies began to roll down the hill, getting bigger as they got closer. Before the balls got too close to the Hitmonlee, it jumped out of the way using its powerful legs. It continued to dodge the rolling snow by jumping over or on top of them. The last one that came its way it smashed its leg into, sending snowball chunks everywhere. It then turned to its new guests. Curious if they were going to give him a challenge or allow him to continue training.

“What do you think, would you like a Hitmonlee? Jack asked Daniel with curiosity, it did look strong.

“Sure it is, so up ahead we go” Jack Answered back and signalled for us to continue deeper into the mountains.

Looking to the ground I could see the the walkways had been separated into branches of pathways, each leading towards different parts of the mountain. The Pathways were distinguished from the rest of the ground by it's lower levels of snowfall on it, this makes it easier for the rangers to travel and know where they are going. Jack Lead me to the left side of the walkway, along the more level path. The weather at the moment was a lot quieter than I would've expected of here, the snow fell softly in addition to the lack of wind it made the whole mountain-scape seem a lot more pristine, I could only wonder what it would be like later on though.

It was all quiet until Jacks Yanmega buzzed her wings faster than usual and shot up into the air, in doing so it showed off the kind of speed that makes this species of pokemon well known. after a few seconds of being up in the air it darted back down stopping just short of Jack, It cried out and made a motion with it's tail.

“Hey Daniel, it looks like you’re going to have your first encounter today. Serenity told me she’s seen something up ahead."

He followed the dragonfly to a ridge over looking a small clearing. In the middle of this clearing stood a tan coloured figure, similar to the human stature. It gazed up towards a steep slope that lead into the clearing. at the top of the slope stood multiple large balls of snow that hung over the edge of the slope ready to fall. Almost as if someone was pushing them they begun to roll down he slope towards the Hitmonlee. Using it's sprung legs it leaped over each ball as it came with ease, but in an act of showing off to us when it came to the last one it struck it's strengthened legs into it shattering it into multiple chunks of snow. Once finished with it's training the Hitmonlee turned and looked up at us warily.

“What do you think, would you like a Hitmonlee?" Jack asked

"No thanks, I would have taken up the offer if this species hadn't been chosen to be sold in the mart, I'll just move on but use a poketoy from this package if it decides to give us a hard time"

Jack nodded as Daniel refused to try and capture the Hitmonlee. This however didn’t seem to sit well with the Hitmonlee however. After showing off the impressive feat of strength and then passed upon like an old shoe. It wasn’t happy. They began to walk when the pokemon cried at them shouting out a challenge. Daniel didn’t seem to agree with this at all and when the thing showed its want to fight, he just as easily as taking out a stick of gum, went into his bag and pulled out a big fluffy pink doll. He threw it off to the left of the Hitmonlee, who saw it fly through the air and land in the snow with a soft plop. It walked over to it to see what it was and the distraction was all the time that they had needed. By the time he looked back up at his would be opponents, they were gone.

Daniel and Jack continued on, Froslass floating along next to Jack. No sounds could be heard by her as she didn’t touch the snow and she didn’t speak all that often. They all walked together in silence, Jack keeping his ears sharp listening for anything his eyes couldn’t see. Then he finally heard something. Up ahead there was a sharp turn to the left around a snow bank. The top of a pine tree could be seen. He was close to the sound and when he turned the corner there was a snoozing Sneasel. It was curled up using the pine tree as cover for any falling snow.

Jack elected not to be quiet because he figured there might be a fight here.

“So Daniel, does it look like you might want this Sneasel?” Jack asked as the Sneasel opened one eye and had it boring into Daniel.

I watched as the Hitmonlee brushed away the drops of snow left on it's body by the smashed boulder, I wondered how it would react to my rejection. Maybe it will let us pass and continue his training or maybe he would become insulted by the fact his training wasn't enough to entice a trainer to capture it. A few seconds passed and the latter prediction became to be the correct one. Knowing it would be hard to pass the Pokemon I reached into my Bag and pulled out a small pink doll and launched it slightly to the left of the Hitmonlee. It was a weird sight watching what once a strong overpowering pokemon that probably wouldn't let anything stand in it's way suddenly change to one one that is distracted and amused by a simple small toy.

We continued through the snowy paths keeping on a trail that most rangers would probably have memorised, I don't know if rangers stick to a routine when going through the National park or if they just do what they want, either way it does not bother me as long as they get me the pokemon. Everything was quiet as Angel brought us round a bank to the left, I didn't know if the Quiet was from Awkwardness or if it was from vigilance as I noticed he was eyeing up every bush and corner searching for the next encounter.

We turned the bank and arrived at a large Pine tree, at the foot of the tree lay a sleeping dark coloured pokemon sheltering itself below the pine branches.

“So Daniel, does it look like you might want this Sneasel?” Angel said not restricting his volume as he must have an idea that I was wanting the Sneasel. At this question the Dark type pokemon opened one eye and focused it on me.

I figured I might as well Attempt to capture the Sneasel, after all it was uncommon for me to get this lucky this early in a run especially considering the luck I had on my last run. I ran my hand across the spheres hung from my belt and unlatched the centre one. Pressing the button along the circumference causing it to enlarge. with a launch of the ball the large Fiery dog that transported me to the mountains had materialised in a flash of red light.

With a roar from the Arcanine the Sneasel was fully awake and stood there ready to battle.

"Ok Holden, I want you to Use Agility to get up close to the Sneasel." with this Command the large canine shot off towards the Pine tree it's movements getting more fluid and smooth as it got closer.

"Ok, Now I want you to use Will-o-Wisp as soon as you get close enough"

(OOC: I marked you off because you didnt describe the attacks at all, you just said them, I take it you might be one for describing the attacks next post, but a bit more details in what the mons attacks do would help you out more (also count towards your MCR as well). I have an imagination, but my idea of how an attack works might be different from yours. Also, male or female?)

Jack watched as it seemed Daniel was going to fight for this Sneasel now. He confirmed Jack’s suspicions when Daniel reached behind him and pulled a red and white pokeball from his belt. From the ball a huge red and yellow dog appeared. The Arcanine roared its entrance, awaking the Sneasel fully now. The Sneasel stood up on both legs and went into an attack pose, brandishing both its claws.

"Ok Holden, I want you to Use Agility to get up close to the Sneasel." In a flash the dog pokemon was next to the tree and next to the Sneasel.

"Ok, Now I want you to use Will-o-Wisp as soon as you get close enough"

The Sneasel however made a call and took a chance. As Holden began to shoot off a dark blue flame from its mouth, the Sneasel jumped up and grabbed the lowest branch. It swung around it and used it as a vault to get up t a higher branch. The Will-o-wisp splashed against the bark of the pine tree, leaving a dark spot.

Up in the tree the Sneasel looked down at its four legged opponent, its arm holding onto the tree trunk. It then pulled its other claw backwards. The razor sharp claws aimed at the Arcanine. It jumped off the branch and fell down towards the Arcanine. It swiped at the Arcanine with its claw as it got close enough. It hit the Arcanine on the back with its claws and pushed itself off of its back to end up landing next to it. It had a smug look on its face. Its little body had become an apparent advantage in this battle. Sly little thing looked like it would be using the tree to its advantage for this battle. Luckily for the Arcanine though the Sneasel was going to have to get in close to hit every time. This was going to be an interesting battle, and Jack’s usual bored state was beginning to be taken over by interest.

“So what are you going to do now Daniel? Can your Arcanine take on a tree?” Jack asked

As Arcanine neared the Sneasel a blue faint flame amassed in it's gaped jaws, flicks of flame being brushed past his face as he ran forward. Once close enough Arcanine released the ominous flame from it's mouth. The Sneasel poised for evasive actions saw the Will-o-wisp coming and jumped up into the treetop and grasped the nearest hanging branch and watched as the orb struck the broad tree trunk, dissipating into a humid aura, leaving nothing but a scorched mark.

The Sneasel released the branch with one hand, still suspended with the other. With it's free hand he slid it behind it's body and poised it Aiming towards the Fiery dog. It released it's other hand from the branch and dropped onto Arcanine claws first Striking it directly on the back. The Arcanine staggered down it's legs slightly buckling under the force of the strike. The Sneasel jumped back onto it's own two feet right next to Holden, watching as He tried to regain his footing.

judging by what I saw I could tell this was going to be a tricky battle, especially with the Sneasels agile stature and the fact it can use the tree behind it to make it easy for him to weave past Holdens attacks. Priority number at the moment was dealing with the tree.

"Okay Holden that was barely a scratch, I want you to use your new heightened speed to get around the Sneasel and Pressure it away from the tree!"

The fiery canine nodded and shook it's fur, metaphorically brushing away the last attack, probably more of a psychological thing on Holdens part. He did a wide turn round the ice type and Stood in front of the tree facing the Sneasel using it's ability Intimidate to push back the Sneasel.

"Okay Holden, Get it as far away from the tree as you can" I watched on as the Canine closed in on the Sneasel like a hunter stalking it's prey, However Sneasel looked hesitant to move from the tree, and I figured it would try and pull some funny stuff.

"Holden Prepare a Reversal for when the Sneasel eventually retaliates"

Holdens body started glowing a faint brownish tinge as his body started to lower closer to the ground, ready to strike, all the while he closed in on Sneasel.

"HIIIYA!" I shouted as I threw a punch at my Haxorus. He quickly stuck an open hand out to absorb the blow. "Come on! Focus, Haxorus!" I said loudly to encourage him as I threw more punches and a couple of kicks. Haxorus was not slow; he managed to keep up with every single move I made. To prove to me that he learned the balance of attack and defense, he threw me a light kick and I fell back into the snow.

"Great work, Haxorus," I said as I picked myself back up.

Now I know one would think, "Why would you be fist fighting with a Haxorus?" I can explain that by saying I didn't have any runs scheduled for today so I was up on the summit of Mt. Oktori. Haxorus was one of the newer members of my team so I wanted to train him, and we had done offence training yesterday by smashing some of the freestanding boulders. This wasn't damaging park property surprisingly.

I began hearing a sound coming from backpack. "Mason, do you read?" That voice came from my radio. Quickly, I pulled it out of my bag to see what was the matter.

"Mason here. I read you," I replied.

"This is Ranger Outpost 7. We have a trainer that needs to finish his run and you're the closest Ranger. You want this one?"

I had finished today's training anyways. "Sure, I'm up for it."

"Alright, I'll send the coordinates to your PDA. Thanks for taking the run, Mason. Outpost out."

"Mason out." I said as I closed my radio and pulled out my PDA and a Pokeball. I glanced at the LCD screen and saw which side of the mountain the trainer was on. I moved over to the ledge on the appropriate side as I extended my arms out. I enjoyed doing this next trick; I began falling backwards as I began free-falling from the cliff. Adrenaline rushing through my body, I quickly aimed the Pokeball below me and pushed the button right in the center of it. A flash of white materialized in the form of a large Dragon Pokemon which extended its wings and let me land on its back.

"Nicely done, Salamence," I said as I mounted up.

Salamence began descending to the correct ledge my PDA told me about. When it came into view, I spotted a Sneasal standing on top of a tree branch like a cat ready to pounce. And who was the dog? Arcanine of course. Like a lightning strike, Sneasal dashed at Arcanine, it's claws cutting a flesh wound into Arcanine's skin. Its ninja-like reflexes could barely be kept up with. This didn't stop Arcanine, however. The fire-type immediately turned around and battered Sneasal with a full on collision. Sneasal went tumbling backwards into the snow but quickly kicked itself back up and regained its footing.

"You guys ok?" I shouted as I landed near the battle and returned Salamence to his Pokeball.

Currently I was making a quick run over to Mt Oktori to escort a trainer from the mountain. His previous ranger had left him because of pressing business and the trainer had been there since. I had received a call to fly over there and led him out of the park. It was a task that needed to be done, but was essential a waste of time. According to the run logs not much had been done during the short time the run took place and it had amounted to a waste of money for the client. But, he wanted out so I would take him out. Instead of walking or teleporting I had decided to fly. I was traveling on my Charizard and I would let him ride my Togekiss.
