Individual RP: Eternussitus

OOC: It should be clear but any blue text is the telepathic communication from Xatu to Buzz, similarly italics relate to Buzz's thoughts. NBP:

Priday, Priday, gotta get down on Priday.​

"What the fuck is that ringtone, Chainy?" Buzz blurted out inbetween roars of laughter. The song echoed out from Chainy's pocket. Buzz was a six foot twenty year old, he was wearing a black shirt with dark jeans. He had a small beanie pulled over his blond-brown hair. Chainy glanced around quickly and silenced his ringing phone. "Madison will be hearing about this, thats all I'm saying."

Buzz walked out of the break room, leaving Chainy muttering in the background. Buzz smiled and returned to his office in the Ranger Headquaters. All the rangers got a small office to themselves. Mostly full of cabinets with various files filled with Pokémon data and encounter rosters and other documents. Buzz smiled and picked up the small toy basket ball and scored a cross room shot in the toy net hooked up on his wall.

Moments later River Tam, Buzz's Xatu, flew in through the window. he was a small green bird skilled in psychic abilities. The pair shared the usual Psychic Pokémon/Human telepathic link, however the conversations between the two of them were usually sarcastic remarks going both ways. Though secretely they were good friends.

"Oh so you do know how to shoot a basketball, why didn't you do that a few days ago at the Ranger Basketball match. Dual won't stop bragging about how he won our bet," River said mockingly.

Buzz didn't bother replying, he simply sat at his desk. Flicking on his computer and reading through the sign ups. "Mount Deckbi, Mount Deckbi..." Buzz sighed, "ooh Mt. Oktori. I haven't been up there properly. He's a new trainer, first time round."

With that Buzz collected all his supplies, returned River to her Poké Ball and wandered into the waiting area for his trainer.

Jake turned his head towards his best friend Parva. “I think we can do this, it’s what we have trained for. Mt. Oktori is going to be a challenge but one we will face together.”

Parva nodded back to his friend and trainer, the person that he had grew up with. He had complete trust in his master and if Jake said that they could do it, then, he believed that they could do it.

Jake turned his head away, to look along the dirt track path ahead of them. He could see the shadow of his ranger there near the slight ridge that rose from the entrance gate. With the sun rising behind the ranger he looked magnificent. Jake thought to himself, I made the right choice coming here if this is who will be helping me.

Jake reached the tip of the path with his Eelektross levitating next to him, the loose dirt on the floor moved slightly across the ground due to the pressure exerted on it from Parva. Jake extended his hand to the ranger, saying “My names Jake, I’m a bit new to this, so do you think we could go a bit slower than usual, me and Parva aren’t exactly the best, but we have spirit!”

 

OOC: Well we require a minimum of 500 characters yeah, I know you asked me to activate the Ice Repellent, but we tend to ask the trainer just to mention it. Something like a spray bottle labelled Ice Repellent usually does the job.

NBP:
Buzz waited until a reasonably tall teenager appeared to be walking up the dirty path. As the boy got closer he extended a hand to Buzz. “My names Jake, I’m a bit new to this, so do you think we could go a bit slower than usual, me and Parva aren’t exactly the best, but we have spirit!”

Buzz looked down at the boy, who wasn't that much shorter than himself and happily extended his hand for the hand shake. "Wow, an Eelektross. That is an interesting Pokémon, I wouldn't mind catching one myself, it would be great to be able to stop using the Hoenn gym League's rental service for my Gym," Buzz replied. "I'll show you my partner Pokémon later. I wouldn't worry too much about the pace, once you get out there I'm sure you will do fine. If you run into any serious trouble then I will step in."

Buzz smiled and looked around. It was mid morning, it was relatively clear with only a few clouds blocking out the pleasant blue sky. Buzz knew that this was only temporary, once they got up to Mount Oktori hail could be pretty much guaranteed. "Well normally I'd have us teleport up there, but since its a pleasant day why don't we jut hop in the jeep," Buzz said heading to the nearby parked jeep.

Once everyone was in, Buzz slammed his foot on the accelerator and took off towards Mt. Oktori. They sped their way through Meteor Valley and turned before they reached the Gardens. They were soon at the ranger outpost at the foot of a snow topped mountain. Icy edges stuck out all across the mountain side.

"I will point out, that this will be the first time i've been here properly, but I have a map and I know what I'm doing," Buzz announced, as he hopped out of the Jeep.

Moments later they were walking up a path, covered with small icy patches, when from behind a nearby rock a creature popped out. It was a yellow colour with red, flared sleeve like arms. "Wow, thats a Mienfoo. A fighting type, and only just discovered to be living in the park. More typically found in the Unova region. Would you like to try and capture it Jake?" Buzz said to his trainer.

The Mienfoo spotted the trainer with the levitating electric type and took a battle stance, poised ready for battle. "Well it's definately eager for a battle," Buzz said.

OOC: Could you make it female, I recon it suits mienfoo’s better then male.

Buzz and Jake got in the quite muddy jeep and started on their way. Driving along the mountain path could be dangerous due to the small patches of ice that popped up occasionally on the road/path, but Buzz was doing a great job of driving.

Jake turned towards Buzz as they got out of the jeep and said “ I’m just felt glad that I used this ice type repellent, I don’t think I would be able to keep going if I encountered their cold moves.”

They carried on along the path on foot making sure not to step on any of the patches of ice that dotted the path. Buzz noticed something just up ahead and pointed it out to Jake, “That’s a Mienfoo, A Fighting type, new to the Park aswell. Would you like to try and capture it Jake?”

“Oh wow, a Mienfoo. I’ve been wanting a Mienfoo as a friend since I heard about the Unova region, but I never thought I would be able to find one here. I’m going to battle her.” Said Jake, he knew her gender because of the way that she stood.

“Alright Parva your not suited to fight this one but don’t worry you won’t be in you ball for too long.” said Jake as he returned his Eelektross. “Purpurea, Your up, I hope you’re ready to use your speed, we’re going to need it for this one” said Jake as he threw his Crobat’s ball into the air.
“You might want to stand back a Bit Buzz” Jake announced, “Things can get a bit windy when purpurea battles, he can whip up quite the storm.”

“Alright Purpurea, I want you to fly on in close to it then slash it with a Air slash, we don’t want to hurt it too much so only hit it with a third of your strength if you can. We want to see whether the story of Mienfoo’s being able to heal automatically is true or not.” Shouted Jake, so as to make sure that Purpurea could hear him up in the sky. He then stepped back a bit himself, just to make sure that he wasnt hit by any stray moves that might fly around.

 

BP:
“Oh wow, a Mienfoo. I’ve been wanting a Mienfoo as a friend since I heard about the Unova region, but I never thought I would be able to find one here. I’m going to battle her,” said Jake. Buzz watched as Jake began talking to his Eelektross before returning it to its Poké Ball. He released a Crobat into the air. Its large purple wings flapped effortlessly as it hovered in the sky.

“You might want to stand back a bit, Buzz,” Jake announced, “things can get a bit windy when purpurea battles, he can whip up quite the storm.” Buzz smiled and took a step back, eager to see how his new trainer would handle his first battle in the National Park. Park Pokémon tended to be a lot tougher than mainland Pokémon. Buzz assumed it was due to the battling nature of Park runs encourages the wild Pokémon to train.

“Alright Purpurea, I want you to fly on in close to it then slash it with a Air slash, we don’t want to hurt it too much so only hit it with a third of your strength if you can. We want to see whether the story of Mienfoo’s being able to heal automatically is true or not.” Shouted Jake.

Buzz thought the attack made sense, it was a simple enough battle strategy. Basic type advantage was always a good way to start a battle, but wild Pokémon were often craftier than expected so creativity is always useful. Buzz knew what Jake meant by Mienfoo's healing ability.

Buzz watched as Crobat swept down, its wings began to glow brightly. Mienfoo was ready, it leaped up into the air recklessly throwing out a Hi-Jump Kick. A move that was very costly if it missed. The martial arts Pokémon's leg struck the bat on one its wings, this was a very interesting tactic but it looked like both Pokémon were hurt.

The Mienfoo was sent hurtling back down to the ground. Just before impact it flicked its hands off the floor and back-flipped onto its feet. Purpurea recoiled in the air and appeared to be falling, but quickly managed to regain his flight.

Mienfoo skidded as she landed, a small dust cloud formed at her feet. She began to move her arms, forming postures of and poses similar to Tai-Chi. Buzz knew from the research notes back at HQ that this was how Mienfoo, and its evolution, calmed their mind for battle.

The mienfoo landed after knocking a bit of wind out of purpurea, luckily though purpurea had got a good hit on the mienfoo with its air slash.

“You did a good job there Purpurea, don’t worry about it. We can hit her hard this time now that we know her style and ability, Reckless makes her attacks stronger if she can be hurt by them, but it also means that if she misses she will be hurt badly.” Looking over at buzz with one eye for confirmation of this, as he said it to his crobat purpurea.

Buzz nodded as Jake said this and looked back at the mienfoo in time to see it do some wierd movements with its hands and feet. Jake though hadn’t taken his eyes of the mienfoo since the battle began, and so also noticed the movements.

“So it’s using a calm mind is it, that makes it stronger, but it also means that it just wasted its time.” Jake muttered to himself whilst shaking his head. “Purpurea I want to you to use haze, make sure that the smoke goes out in a large area, try to cone it outwards so as to make sure that it hits.” Purpurea nodded back at Jake with his head/body.

“As you expelling the smoke though I want you to move towards it using the haze for cover, then use air slash on the Mienfoo. She will try to attack as soon as you start to move but don’t worry, keep using the haze otherwise it will hurt a lot more and then as soon as you have used the air slash try to dodge back up high into the air so it can’t hit back.” Jake shouted to his Crobat in a clear and unwavering voice. He knew that purpurea could do it, they had worked hard on connecting their moves together into chains, seeing as sometimes single moves didn’t work as well as they wanted them to.

Jake ran a little farther away from the battle to make sure that he was out of range of the haze, he didn’t want to inhale any of it as it would probably make him ill so he covered his mouth up with the collar of his shirt by pulling it up. He didn’ though move to far away so, purpurea could still hear him and was still close enough to run in and catch him if he was knocked out of the sky. Whilst waiting for purpurea to make his move, he scanned the area with one eye to see whether there was anything he could use to his Pokemons advantage.

 

BP:
“Purpurea, I want to you to use haze, make sure that the smoke goes out in a large area, try to cone it outwards so as to make sure that it hits,” Jake called out, "as you expelling the smoke though I want you to move towards it using the haze for cover, then use air slash on the Mienfoo. She will try to attack as soon as you start to move but don’t worry, keep using the haze otherwise it will hurt a lot more and then as soon as you have used the air slash try to dodge back up high into the air so it can’t hit back.”

Buzz thought this was a clever idea but he wasn't certain the Crobat would be able to keep up the Haze whilst trying to perform the Air Slash. The purple fog began to be emitted from the Crobat, but the Mienfoo had other plans. It darted forward carefully sliding under the thin veil of haze that hovered at the Pokémon's head height.

As it was under the Crobat it unleashed a sphere of blue energy. Aura Sphere, it wouldn't be very effective but from this close range it would still do some damage and interupted the Haze attack.

Mienfoo acrobatically leapt back, but misjudged her jump landing in the remnants of the mist. It began to splutter. Purporea took the opportunity and began fanning her wings till a swirling mass of wind was slashed towards the fighting type. Mienfoo was hit hard it stumbled back to the ground.

The Mienfoo seemed to be glancing around just like Jake, eagar to find something in the environment that would giver her the upper hand in this battle. The were stood near the icy path leading to Mt. Oktori. The morning sun glimmered off the ice that coated parts of the road. Large rocks littered the area, some big enough to bounce off, but most suitable to be broken and thrown.

The latter seemed to be what Mienfoo was after, it threw itself into a nearby rock. Its well placed kick shattering the icy rock to pieces. Then with a fist thrown into the ground and some energy exerted the Martial Arts Pokémon began to propel the ring of icy rocks towards the air borne Crobat.

OOC: Hope you don’t mind the questions.  But I thought it mind be cooler this way. Sorry for taking so long, but I had an economics report due in tomorrow and I only just got it done.

The Meinfoo was dancing around in the air, at least that’s what it seemed to look like to Jake when he saw that the Meinfoo had dodged Purpurea’s haze. The Meinfoo used a close range aura sphere on Purpurea. He followed through though on what he was told and still used his air slash.

The Meinfoo fell backwards into the haze losing its boosted stats. It recovered well though from the fall and looked around to try and find something that it could do from a distance. Spotting a few boulders that were scattered around, it took aim on the crobat. He threw himself to the side kicking the rock until it shattered. It used a move called stone edge to throw rocks at the Crobat with its chi energy.

Having to think fast Jake, Jake shouted to Purpurea a simple command “dodge! Spin in a circle upwards with you wings spread out wide. When you get above the path of the stone edges I want you to level out whilst spinning and let loose an Air slash. Then do just as we trained and direct the ball of energy right at that mienfoo, we want to hit it hard now. “

“Hey Buzz, how did you get into all of this rangering stuff? Were you a trainer first like me? I got into being a trainer when my dad took me out and helped me catch my first Pokémon. I caught it with my bare hands, it was a beldum. It was all on its own, I found out later that he was an orphan he’s still here, the first Pokeball on my belt and my best friend. Did you have a best friend before you became a ranger?”

Jake seemed oddly calm with his questions, But that’s only because he knew exactly what his next move was going to be.

Buzz watched as the Crobat began to spiral upwards, higher and higher it soared. The Stone Edge attack was aimed up high as well and clipped Crobat's feet. It began to spin down and out of control. It didn't look like it would be able to right itself, then a blue ball of energy formed and it was sent flying back towards the Mienfoo. The momentum caused Crobat to level out and regain control of its flight path.

The ball of energy hurtled down through the sky towards the fighting type. It stood in battle pose eager to test its strength. It appeared to be focusing its energy and the blue energy of the Air Slash slammed hard into the Mienfoo's palms. Mienfoo began to skid as the momentum of the attack began to push it backwards, Buzz could tell that each second it held on to the attack it was taking damage. Further and further the Mienfoo was pushed, the energy of the ball seeping pain into its body. Eventually though it managed to push the ball off into the ground. It had appeared to have taken a lot of damage but it could have been much worse.

Buzz snapped his head back from the battle and looked at his trainer. "Well, I think I saw an advert on TV about the Park needing rangers and that it was a great way to meet new Pokémon and people and earn some cash. So I applied and got accepted to the Academy, then before I knew it I was on my final test," Buzz explained, "as for my best friend, yeah I started out with an Elekid, who is now an Electivire. Then I had my Xatu, River Tam, who is quite well known and will probably be released at some point, though she isn't a big fan of icy areas."

Buzz looked back at the Mienfoo wondering what its next move would be, it was looking up at the flying bat Pokémon. It was at that momeent it noticed an angled rock. It's plan fully formed, it took off. It raced at full speed and ran up the rock and leapt off it. It somersaulted through the air over the Crobat, reaching out its palm spread out towards the Crobat. Crobat was sent hurtling downwards by the Force Palm.
