    "Hey, hurry up Shadow. Why are you so slow today?" I called out to the large four-legged hound. Shadow was my partner Pokemon and starter and had been with me for as long as I could remember. I looked back at the chart in my hand. "Erik. Oh! Interesting, he is a regular here.

    "We don't have to be there for another thirty minutes at the very latest, what is the rush." He groaned. "I didn't even get to finish eating."

    "I'll fix you up some Torchic Alfredo when we get back, how does that sound." I called back to him.

    "I'll hold you to that." He replied, licking his lips.

    "We are going there early because I want to scope the area out a bit before it actually starts. Granted, we won't be able to see much because its only thirty minutes, but still." I said as we passed the gate to the Deckbi. We began walking around. It wasn't long before a few Aggron and Rhyperior herds passed by us. Usually Pokemon weren't afraid of us Rangers because they trusted us which is why many came up to us willingly.

    We walked on a u-shaped path for fifteen minutes and then walked back to the main gate at the Deckbi and waited for Erik. That was the path we were going to be taking. Even though we had only gone a quarter of the way on that path, I knew where it led too. Three fourths of the way in, it led to a small hot spring. I was planning on heading on out there. We sat under a tree and waited for her to show up.

    I kicked the door open from my front house, and started to fly towards the front gate of the National Park, to head into Mount Deckbi, where I was Litwick hunting today, in the attempts to leave with one, for some reason. Probably so I always had a candle that would light if the power ever went out. You know, one to match my Chandelure, and my Litwick. Never hurt to have the extra light around.

    After about ten minutes, I woke up, cause lets face it, how could I actually be flying there on my own will? I quickly got dressed, took my bag full of items, grabbed Ambipom, and decided to take Dragonite along too, since you could have two Pokemon by your side. My dream did give me a good idea, so I got on Dragonite's back, and had him fly me to the front gate.

    On the way there, I pulled out my Pokeplayer, and the Litwick voice disk that I had, threw it in, and hit play. I arrived, where I saw someone waiting, who I assumed to be my ranger, so I went over to let him know I was here.

    "Hi, I'm the one man band, Eric, and I'm here for some Litwick," I said, as I extended my hand.

    It wasn't long before a sexy looking Trainer showed up on a powerful looking Dragonite. Dragonite was now a commonly used Pokemon, they used to be rare but now they were popping up everywhere. It was as if someone was mass producing them to make a profit, which honestly wasn't a bad idea. If I could do that, I probably would. Anyways, the good looking trainer walked up towards me, but not before putting in a voice disk and hitting play. I wasn't sure what that sound was, but hopefully we'd find whatever he was after.

    "Hi, I'm the one man band, Eric, and I'm here for some Litwick." He said to me.

    "Sup Eric, I am Alex and this is Needlenose my Cubchoo." I said. "Let's get started shall we." I said, as I led him on the path towards the hot spring I knew of. We walked for a bit, the sound of his Litwick disk continued to ring throughout the area. It appeared to work because a Litwick came floating down the trail like it owned the place, shooting small flames here and there.

    "Looks like we got your Litwick there, whenever you're ready man." I said, taking a couple of steps back and sat on the side.

    @Bumblebee;

    "Sup Eric, I am Alex and this is Needlenose my Cubchoo. Let's get started shall we," Alex said to me. I was certainly looking forward to this. It had been too long since I had taken a trip into the park. I loved coming here, getting into some battles, and capturing some new Pokemon. Though, this time around I wasn't exactly here for myself. I was here to see if I could manage to capture a Litwick for someone I knew. I knew they had wanted one for some time, but couldn't ever manage to get one, so I figured I could attempt it. I had had decent luck in the park in the past, capturing the likes of a Porygon, a Rotom, and Larvesta, just to name a few, so hey I figured I had a decent shot at getting a Litwick, if I could get those harder ones in the past.

    We got going through the front gate, while I had my disk playing like it was one of those rock and roll songs that the kids now at days listen to. I was just hopeful that I could quickly find what I came here looking for, so I could get home, and take my afternoon nap. I was pretty darn cranky if I didn't get that nap in. But I wasn't too worried about that right now, cause first I had some Pokemon hunting to do, and not ramble to myself, or else Alex would think I was crazier than I let on.

    Without even realizing a thing, we had been a few minutes into our trip, and I was actually about to encounter my first Pokemon here, and my first Pokemon in several months. This was certainly going to be an interesting experience to say the least. Alex knew why it would be, and so did I.

    "Looks like we got your Litwick there, whenever you're ready man," Alex said, as he took a couple of steps back, giving us room to do battle. Oh, and what a battle it was going to be. Attacks were going to be thrown back and forth, and Pokemon were going to be injured, and Dragonite, the Pokemon I planned on using for this battle, wouldn't be baking a cake, to place Litwick on top of, like a birthday candle. Why would it even do that? Because Litwick was a candle. It was a small, white candle, with a blue flame, and a single yellow eye showing. Though, personally, I always felt it looked more like a cupcake myself, than a candle, but that wasn't the issue here currently.

    I took the Pokeball, and I sent out Dragonite. It was a really cool looking, and not to mention very powerful, Dragon-type Pokemon. It was also a Pokemon that had come in handy a lot back when I had a dojo, and came in handy a few times during battles in my gym. Flying-type was, and is the greatest type. So much so, that Flying-types don't even all live together in one zone of the park like other types. They needed to spread out, to contain all the awesomeness that they had to offer, or it'd probably make the park explode.

    Course, now that I was ready to battle, it came time for the all important question, of what the hell would I actually do. I could use some flashy attacks, to get a solid ten on the cool meter. Though, in the long run that wouldn't really do all the much. There were powerful attacks like Surf, and Waterfall, but I couldn't exactly summon a body of water here, and Dragonite wasn't a Water-type, so it didn't have that much water inside of its own body. I did all I could do, and randomly picked two attacks.

    "Okay, Dragonite, you've seen Ambipom do this before, so I know you can do it too. Hit that Litwick with an Ice, and a Thunderpunch!" I commanded.

    It was simple really, one fist would glow yellowish in color, and be surrounded by electricity, whilst the other hand would be blue in color, and be surrounded by ice. One with a chance to paralyze, and the other with a chance to freeze. I didn't care about a status now though, or about the fact that Ice Punch wouldn't do much, due to Fire being strong against Ice, and that Thunderpunch would just be neutral with no STAB. I just cared about dealing a bit of damage, and watching Dragonite throw two punches out there, cause I hadn't seen a good punch thrown in a few hours.

    "Okay, Dragonite, you've seen Ambipom do this before, so I know you can do it too. Hit that Litwick with an Ice, and a Thunderpunch!" Eric commanded. Litwick was a dual typed Pokemon being both Ghost and Fire types. Neither types actually did real damage to a Dragon type, especially one as powerful as Dragonite. Not to mention Litwick was a basic Pokemon and Dragonite was fully evolved and one of the most powerful non-legendary Pokemon there was. There was no way that this little guy would stand a chance. I just hoped Litwick wouldn't run away once it realized this, some Pokemon were just persistent and didn't give up.

    Litwick began the battle with a strong Flamethrower attack. The stream of flames hit Dragonite head on, I could feel the intense heat of the fire, it was pretty strong for a basic Pokemon. Dragonite took the attack like a boss, barely even flinching. He took off both of his fists pulled to his sides. On the left side, I could see ice begin to cover up his paw, quickly freezing the entire thing. On the right side, I could see small waves of electricity surround the paw until it too was fully covered. Dragonite slammed both fists into the small Litwick, but not before I saw the little candle cover its body in some sort of metallic substance.

    Litwick spiraled back a few feet before regaining control. It glared angrily at the Dragonite, waiting for it to make his next move.

    Let's make it a male, I suppose. @Bumblebee;

    Things weren't looking too good. I mean, as far as the battle was going, Dragonite was doing a good job, but outside of the battle however...well, I was starting to feel like I was coming down with something. It was a cold. Oh man, this sucked so much. Only I could somehow start to get sick at a time like this. Now I really had to feel motivated to finish this battle with Litwick, so I could get home, and rest before I felt awful. I didn't feel like that would be easy, but it was certainly something that I was going to try.

    Dragonite had managed to hit Litwick with the good old one, two punch, and deal it some damage. Not a ton of damage, but hey, when you hit something that's at full health, you should never expect to do a giant chunk. So, unless Litwick was assault from something else before I even showed up here, and did a good job of hiding the damage, then it started this battle perfectly healthy, just like Dragonite. To be fair, Dragonite had an edge here, cause Litwick didn't know a ton of moves, and it showed that, when it used Flamethrower. Now, yes, Flamethrower is a very powerful attack, actually Dragonite itself knows it, and Litwick does get STAB from it, but still, using a Fire-type move against a Dragon-type Pokemon wasn't that great, because it wasn't very effective. Hey though, I wasn't complaining. Any advantage for me, was something I would gladly take to get things rolling in my favor.

    Course, now once again came the all important time of thinking what moves would be good to use. I wanted to use something that would cause some damage, but at the the same time, I didn't want to use anything that would go a little too far, and leave me short handed at this current time. I forgot how much work a battle actually took in my time gone. There was the thinking aspect, and then the actual battling aspect. It was a little much to think about, especially with my brain feeling foggy from starting to get sick. But, I had to do what I could to will myself through everything, and keep this battle going in favor.

    I think I had something in mind...but of course, once I thought about it, I had nothing in mind. So, I knew all I could do, was the best thing I could always do. Flip a coin! Though, seeing as how I didn't have a coin, I said to hell with it, and decided I would just wing things again like a madman. What could possibly go wrong!?

    "Dragonite, use a Dragon Claw, and claw away at its, very minimal, midsection. That should either do some damage, or get rid of any itch it may very well have," I commanded. I didn't really know what attack would be good to use here, so I figured just going with one attack for the time being was the safest bet. This way, I knew nothing too crazy would happen.

    Dragon Claw was just your standard Dragon-type attack. It had average power, when compared to more powerful Dragon-type attacks like Outrage, Draco Meteor, and even Dragon Pulse. The users claws would turn, kind of blue in color, and become somewhat sharper than they currently were, and the user would then claw away quickly at some part of their foe. It was a close range attack, which could be dangerous at times, yes, but to tell you the truth, I preferred using close combat attack instead, because the foe was always less likely to dodge, and more likely to throw an attack back. That was the kind of battle I liked personally. An attack, for an attack. I didn't know how Litwick would respond here, but I was looking forward to how it tried to stack up against the Dragon Claw.

    "Dragonite, use a Dragon Claw, and claw away at its, very minimal, midsection. That should either do some damage, or get rid of any itch it may very well have," Eric called out to his Dragonite. The large, powerful winged beast roared loudly as it charged at Litwick. His speed wasn't the fastest I've seen, but it was surely much faster than what Litwick could move. Dragonite slashed hard at Litwick, once again sending the little guy spiraling backwards. Litwick struggled to stop itself before it crashed into a nearby tree. It took a few seconds to recover from the attack, but it managed to and was ready to go.

    The Candle Pokemon began forming a ball of ghastly energy in front of him. The orb grew to be the size of a basketball with some sort of black, dark energy dripping from the sides. Once he was satisfied with what he had created, he launched the sphere at Dragonite. When the Shadow Ball attack made contact, Dragonite appeared to have flinched more than I had expected him too, which could only mean one thing, his special defense had dropped.

    Litwick didn't stop there, he took this time to begin his next attack. The purple flame on the top of Litwick's head stretched out into the sky. Almost immediately, an orb of light blue and dark blue fire began to form in front of Litwick's regular orange flame. Litwick then fired a spiraling stream of light blue fire with rings of dark blue fire from the orb at Dragonite. This move was known as Inferno, which again wouldn't do crazy damage do Dragonite, but it would burn him. I wasn't sure how Eric would counter this powerful attack.

    @Dinobot;

    Dragonite managed to claw away to Litwick, which either seemed to do some damage, or took care of an itch that Litwick may have had. That was a possibility, seeing as how the little dual Fire, Ghost-type didn't have any arms itself. Though I wasn't particularly sure how that would manage to cause any damage. I knew I should have had Dragonite just punch it in the face again. A punch in the face always works. Oh well, there was always next time for Dragonite to throw a fist or two again.

    Course on the flip side of whatever the hell was going on here, Litwick did some stuff, and that wasn't very nice of it. It first ended up releasing a ghostly ball of energy, known as Shadow Ball. Pretty decent attack it was, that could, and in this case did so, lower the Special Defense of the Pokemon it ended up hitting. That wasn't too bad though, because what was a battle without some damage, and some luck, right? Though the other move it was using could have been troublesome. It was Inferno. It was a Fire-type move, so it wouldn't cause all that much damage, but if it hit, it would cause a burn, which would damage Dragonite each time it attacked, and would cut its attack in half. I thought about this for a second, and after further thought, I kinda just said meh. I could always Roost off the damage from burn if needed, and Dragonite could easily make use of it's Special Attack if it needed to, so it was fine.

    It was settled, I was going to let Litwick do it's attack, and then use Dragonite to roast some weenies. Maybe a few marshmallows too. But, before that it still had some attacking to do. I had nothing in mind, which was perfect, because that meant our foe wouldn't have any idea of what would come its way in the event that it were a mind reader. It was time to just once again throw some random attack out there on the table, and see if it would work out by some miracle.

    "Let's do it!" I yelled out loud, for no apparent reason.

    "Dragonite, smack that boy silly with a Hurricane attack," I commanded. This time around, I intended to take full advantage of Dragonite's Flying-type, rather than it's Dragon-type.

    Hurricane was a very powerful Flying-type move, where the user would summon a mock, my guess would be category two, hurricane, to damage the foe with powerful winds. It also could confuse the foe, but I think I'd caused enough confusion here myself already. I wasn't sure of much here, and whether or not I would be able to throw a ball after this attack, although I did feel certain at least one more attack would be needed, but I did know that once I was done with this encounter with this Litwick I would be packing up my things and leaving.

    Ranger Makina Auran

    *~~~~~~~~~*

    Oddly enough, the Park wasn't receiving many visitors these days. Whether it was due to Trainers discovering new places to find and capture Pokemon or for the simple fact that all places were bound to hit a slump every now and then, the result was still the same. The billboard where Runs were posted for those awaiting Rangers, normally shadowed by those waiting to snag one and quickly be on their way, was now completely empty and deserted.

    “See, I told you it would be empty,” Makina grumbled, staring at the blank billboard as if was spiting her. “So much for earning a little extra cash.”

    Behind the Ranger, a Gardevoir was shaking her head in response, clearly not much happier than her partner. <Well, maybe if you had not gone on that little break for half a year...>

    “Yes, Aria, that makes perfect sense. I go on extended leave, and suddenly everyone disappears,” Makina irritably replied, turning around to face the Gardevoir. Snapping at her partner wasn't going to make things better, but sometimes the Psychic-type chose buttons to press at the absolute wrong times.

    <It was just a simple comment. After all, how do you expect to get paid if you do no work?>

    Whatever comment Makina had been about to say back to Aria was lost as both of them noticed a secretary walk towards them, holding a yellow-hued piece of paper. That shade meant only one of two things- either a Ranger was asking for assistance, or a Run in progress needed their Ranger replaced. “Guess today is your lucky day. We have a Trainer on Mount Deckbi at the moment, and Leo had to step out due to an emergency. Care to take it?”

    “Please and thank you,” Makina replied, accepting the paper for a quick look. It was a Run that was apparently at the very beginning, and in mid-battle at that. Seeing the Trainer's name though, she couldn't help but grin a little. Oh, Aria is going to love this. “We'll set out right away. Can you send the rest of the info to my PDA?”

    “Right, no problem!” suddenly the secretary hesitated, as if afraid to ask her next question. “Um, and you are...?”

    Sighing, Makina gave her name and info to access her PDA. It was a little sad, being unknown by some of the staff and even a few new Rangers. Still, she could never remember the names of the staff save for a few people anyways, and she had been gone a while... maybe it was just karma messing with her. Giving Aria the coordinates to their destination, there was a brief flash of light as the Gardevoir Teleported the two of them out.

    As the volcanic region of Mount Deckbi took shape around them, both Ranger and Pokemon took a moment to regain their bearings. While the area was just rocky and warm as ever, there was one key role missing.

    <Where is the Trainer? This place looks completely deserted.> Aria looked about, crossing her wispy arms as if annoyed at herself for choosing the wrong spot to Teleport to.

    “We're in the right spot, don't worry. I just thought it would be best if we didn't drop down right next to them.” Makina was dreading what was going to come next, but it was not like her partner would not know just who their Trainer was.

    <What do you mean->

    "Let's do it!" a nearby voice yelled up ahead, hidden by an outcropping of rocks partially in our way.

    Judging from the way Aria's eyes widened, she knew exactly who that voice belonged to. <You mean Eric is your Trainer? And you accepted knowing that?>

    “Oh come on, the last time we led him through wasn't that bad...”

    <I'm not taking that chance. Choose someone else to assist you this time around, I'm going back to the outpost where it is safe and quiet.> With that, the Gardevoir was gone.

    “Overreacting much?” Makina shouted back at was now just empty air. Grumbling, she made her way towards the direction the voice had came from, trying to decide just who she should use this time around. Plus, Aria was her only teleporter. This would make heading back to the outpost even more difficult. Less than a minute later, she was within view of what had to be the very middle of a battle.

    "Dragonite, smack that boy silly with a Hurricane attack," Eric commanded, speaking to the large winged dragon in front of him.

    The Dragon-type obeyed, managing to summon up an impressive amount of wind despite having such tiny wings. Gathering the large gale in front of him, he sent it all forward towards a nearby candle-shaped creature, the Pokemon ridiculously tiny compared to Dragonite.

    The wind battered against Litwick wave after wave, and for a moment it seemed that he could do was huddle down and not get blown away. Even this seemed useless, as the creature's wax-like body was slowly skidding back from the force. Suddenly, it looked as if Litwick had an idea. Wreathing his body in flames, the wild Pokemon managed to trudge forward and slam into Dragonite, canceling the attack. While the attack barely seemed to be more than a scratch, it did manage to slightly quicken the Ghost-type.

    “That Litwick has some courage, will give it that,” the Ranger remarked, stepping forward to introduce herself to Eric. “Still, you always seem to attract the more headstrong wildlife. Just like old times, right?”

    Litwick, using his newfound speed, began to ready another attack. This time, instead of using flames, an aura of dark energy appeared to surround it. It rippled slightly before surging forward, heading towards Dragonite.

    OOC: Okay, I ate a donut burger. It gave me motivation to do this. @Akinai;

    IC: My ranger ended up leaving. He had a business meeting, or an important lunch, or died, or something. I didn't really care, because I didn't even need a ranger. I knew the park like it was the back of my hand, and personally I didn't like the supervision anyway. I'm twenty-one, it's not like I'm going to do something stupid like blow up the park. Well, not yet anyway, seeing as how I still wanted this Litwick. It wasn't like I planned to have Dragonite set off the volcano after the battle, nope, not at all.

    Course, before I could even keep battling, a new ranger showed up before. Now, I forget stuff at times, cause I can't be bothered remembering tedious information, but I was pretty sure she had taken me through the park before. It was probably during my crazy days when I was openly trying to cause chaos, and such, instead of secretly like I was planning to do now. But I'd have to put those plans on hold until later. Besides, I liked Deckbi. Litwick lived here. How could I ever harm something such as a Litwick, short of during a battle when trying to catch one?

    She started to form some sort of conversation, by saying, "that Litwick has some courage, will give it that. Still, you always seem to attract the more headstrong wildlife. Just like old times, right?” as she approached me.

    "Well, you know me, I'm thick headed, so it just wouldn't be a good time without a crazy battle going down. The headstrong will, and spirit always make a battle worth doing, and worth watching. Just like cable TV," I remarked.

    Now, I was stuck in a bit of an indecisiveness here. I could attempt to catch the Litwick right now, and potentially, well actually most likely, fail. Or, I could do another attack first, but any attack could have been strong enough to knock the thing out, so I would need to think this carefully, and pick something that was somewhat weak. I had a good idea in mind, because it didn't seem like the kind of move that would knock out Litwick. By all means it still could, but out of Dragonite's movepool, it seemed like one of the least likely to do so.

    "Okay, Dragonite, go at this one with less than full power. Use an Ice Beam," I commanded, rather calmly.

    Ice wasn't too powerful against Fire, because, well lets face it, how could it be when fire melts ice? Ice Beam was one of those stand moves that you see commonly. Dragonite would release a beam of energy, made of pure ice from its mouth. The beam itself would be blue in color, and could cause a freeze, but I wouldn't even wanna see the Litwick frozen, so I was hoping against that one actually.

    I wasn't gonna waste any time. I set my bag down, and picked out a Super Ball, since I had more of those than I did any other kind. After the attacks were done, since it looked like Litwick was working on doing one itself, I was going to instantly throw the ball, and hope that I could catch this thing now, so I could get going.

    Ranger Makina Auran

    "Well, you know me, I'm thick headed, so it just wouldn't be a good time without a crazy battle going down. The headstrong will and spirit always make a battle worth doing, and worth watching. Just like cable TV," Eric replied offhandedly. He appeared to be focused more on the battle rather than continue speaking, which was understandable enough.

    Cable TV, huh? That would explain the mindset, at least Makina thought to herself, receiving a faint sense of agreement from Aria. Even though the Gardevoir had left the area, she was still barely within the limits of their mental link.

    "Okay, Dragonite, go at this one with less than full power. Use an Ice Beam," Eric commanded the Dragon-type, looking straight at Litwick.

    Immediately, the orange Dragon Pokemon spat out a thin beam towards Litwick, the attack causing a slight ripple as the naturally cold technique hit the normally hot environment. As the Beam crashed into Litwick, the creature shivered but appeared to be in no danger of becoming frozen.

    His own attack now fully charged, Litwick shot off pulses of pitch-black energy towards Dragonite. While the move managed to make contact and deal what appeared to be a minor amount of damage to Eric's Pokemon, the Ghost-type was immediately sucked into a capture device, courtesy of the Trainer opting to throw a Superball as soon as Dragonite had finished his attack. The sphere wobbled dangerously for a few moments, but eventually grew still and let off a successful ping.

    “Congrats on your new Litwick,” Makina said, retrieving the Superball from the ground. Before she could say more though, she was surprised to see Eric turning to walk back towards the front gate of the area. Taking a quick look at her PDA, she saw a small footnote was added at the end of the Trainer's form: Only here for Litwick, plans to leave right after

    “What was the point of me coming all the way out here, then?” Makina grumbled to herself. At least there was a silver lining to all of this; she was back at work once more, and the walk back to the outpost wouldn't be a long one after all.
