Individual RP: Dragoness

NBP#1

The sun was flaring above the sky, Ranger Alpha was waiting below the sky, above the grassy meadows near the docks at the National Park. This was his second time in taking a trainer inside the park--it was his first time at the Botanic Gardens as well. He'd better make the best out of this experience. Today, he was supposed to take a ranger named 'Alice'. "I wonder who that was," Alpha whispered to himself, reaching into the pocket on his black pants to get a small paper that had a clear penmanship saying 'You will be taking Alice Amonea.'

A bluish light appeared behind him before he could read the paper. A large steel floated above the ground using its three oversized magnets. Its antenna on its head was used to monitor the surroundings inside the park. The magnets, on the other hand, were used to check other stuff; humidity, robbers, forest fires, events like that. Magnezone would shout its name to the heavens if it detected something weird inside the park. "Hey there, Magnezone." Alpha's pale hands touched Magnezone's smooth body.

"Ranger Alpha, are you there?" A voice muffled on Alpha's other pocket.

"Yeah, I'm here. Anything you want?" Alpha pressed his index finger on a small button that was near his chest. It had a wire attached to it that extended all the way up to Alpha's ear, which Alpha used to communicate back to the one talking at the speaker.

"Has the trainer arrived yet?" The questions came in a speedy manner. Questions here, questioning back there, Alpha seemed it he had to grow tired from it.

"Not yet, I shall inform you once she arrives here at the docks. Please, do wait in the meantime." Alpha released his finger on the button. He ran towards the horizon and went towards the small river near the meadows and the ranger site. He turned his head to his left to check the Botanical Gardens if it was in one piece and ready to be explored by new adventurers. The steel magnet followed Alpha wherever it went.

The day was very good to be true; Alpha had been expecting something good to arrive later on in the travels. Who knows? The trainer might be lucky enough to get the Pokemon she ever wanted. That was the only purpose for visiting the park aside from sightseeing. If she encountered the Pokemon she dreamt of, then it could make Alpha happy as well, seeing as he's the ranger that will later escort the trainer.

"This should be fun, I'm getting psyched enough, Magnezone. When will she arrive!?" Alpha extended his arms widely until he suddenly dropped his body into the ground, feeling the grassy fields touch his ranger outfit and pants.

It was nearing noon and Alice Amonea was sitting on a deckchair aboard the Scuttleboat, absentmindedly tapping her fingers along to her MP3. The music was slipping through her mind without leaving the slightest trace behind. She was waiting for the Scuttleboat to dock at the National Park and between checking her watch every five minutes and gazing almost unseeingly out at the waters while suppressing unpleasant memories, there was not much room left in her brain.

Her older sister, a ranger at the park, had urged her to come and visit and finally Alice's resolute refusal had crumbled and she'd consented to come. But far away from the Great Lakes area of the Park. The last time she had visited the Park, she had gone to the Great Lakes and shortly after collapsed. Perhaps she would not be so disturbed by her last visit if it had not taken days to recover--or if her dreams had not been twisted into nightmares during her illness. No, no, she'd be going deep into the Botanical Gardens today.

"Aho! Land!" called one of the passengers. Squinting through the sunlight reflected off the waves, Alice smiled. A weathered set of docks could just be seen and past that was the old Ranger station, a two story white house. She turned off her MP3 and began a slow trot below deck, where her items were stored.

"Enjoy the stay! Alpha is your ranger today. Try not to scare him too bad!" Amonea--Alice's sister--said with a grin as she waved Alice off. Alice simply laughed as she waved her sister and her sister's trainer off.

It had been, she reflected, a fun, if short reunion. Her sister had been waiting near the docks to greet her and pick up her trainer. Lazily, Alice twirled a lock of electric blue hair through her fingers. Perhaps I will get a tan if I stay out long enough she thought as she began to walk towards a field near the docks. There was a ranger there, resting on the warm grass.

She wished her sister had pointed to who Aplha was. Maybe that was her ranger over on the grass. A slightly nervous bubble pushed its way through her mind, but she shoved it away. Today was too beautiful a day to worry about silly nonsense. The sun released its astoundingly rays on the Park, giving the air a favorable touch of warm and setting the sights alight. A small of fresh grass and sea wafted through the air.

"Alpha?" Alice called as she walked over to the man. She paused a moment to straighten her sleek violet turtleneck, adjusting it so it fit snugly over her jeans. "I'm Alice Amonea..."

NBP#2

The sight was too good to be true until a dark shadow blocked Alpha's sight. "Alpha? I'm Alice Amonea," a shy voice came out from the shadow. Hurriedly, Magnezone went around and checked if that was really Alice. Eventually, its magnets sparkled with red and blue colors, waking Alpha up.

"Oh, hi the-" Alpha rose when he bumped his head on Magnezone's steel body. He got back down to the ground again but he decided to get back up, without getting hit this time. "Hi there," he continued his greeting as he streched his arm out towards the young lady. He placed his other hand inside his pocket and sweat drops were falling from his face. Apparently, Alice was still not reaching out towards his hand so he just decided to move on for now.

He walked towards a port near where he and Alice stood, turning around to check on Alice. "Come on," he added as he escorted Alice to the port. "Don't worry, I'm not taking you to the beaches, I'm just going to check up with my official." He grabbed his phone on a boat and called for his official.

"What seems to be the problem, Alpha?" the voice scowled at him.

"Alice is here, I just wanted to let you know that." He hung up the phone quickly when he made Alice go to the right, escorting her to the right place, the Botanic Gardens.

They reached their destination, seeing the large arch that led inside the gardens. Patches of flowers rose up in the arch with small pots that stood on the sides of the arch. "Let's go inside." Alpha went inside first so that Alice wouldn't be afraid to enter too.

There were tons of Pokemon inside the gardens, but none seem to approach Alice. Magnezone scanned the surroundings to see if there would be a Pokemon that will approach her sometime. His magnets blinked again, signaling a yes to Alpha. Eventually a small green upright plant went closer to Alpha and Alice, both of them ventured far enough to be far from the arch.

"Budew," its cute voice called out to Alice.

"Isn't that a cute thing, er, I mean Pokemon. Want to catch it?" Alpha leaned his head to see Alice's reply.

Alice looked inquisitively at the Budew. He was a cute little Pokemon, with the softest blue eyes. So adorable...yet...

"I don't like taking baby Pokemon and this little guy looks like he is well taken care of. Go on home to your family, doll." Alice waved a hand at the Budew. The little dude didn't seem bothered at all, but rather curious.

Alice turned her attention from the Budew and glanced around the area. Sunlight lit up parts of the garden, bouncing off shiny leaves. It also left curled, twisted shadows in areas where the foliage was especially thick. Perhaps fifty feet away was a bunch of trees and ferns, all gathered together to form a sort of quiet haven.

"I could be wrong, but isn't that like a plant grotto?" Alice pointed at the bunch of plants. "It looks nice and quiet. I like to enjoy nature as much as I like to battle. I say we ought to go there." She grinned impishly at Alpha and winked.​

 

NBP#3

"I don't like taking baby Pokemon and this little guy looks like he is well taken care of. Go on home to your family, doll." Alpha faintly smiled as he watched Alice send the Budew back deeper into the gardens. She seemed pretty nice, but acting too nice could give a Pokemon a chance for an ambush. He laughed because he just thought of a rampaging Budew, totally impossible.

"I could be wrong, but isn't that like a plant grotto?" Alice pointed at a place that seemed to be a place where plants rose and pink flowers below the plants bloomed. It could be that Alice was hallucinating, but Alpha kept his mouth shut and waited for something to happen. "It looks nice and quiet. I like to enjoy nature as much as I like to battle. I say we ought to go there. "It looks nice and quiet. I like to enjoy nature as much as I like to battle. I say we ought to go there." She winked at Alpha, who blushed in return.

"S-sure thing." He didn't like girls winking back at him, especially young ones. He just followed Alice and lead her to the grotto-like place that had pink stuff underneath the plants.

We haven't even gotten near it when the plants bursted and spread into different directions. The pink Pokemon with leaves on their heads flew onto the horizons. But one managed to stay and looked at us as we came closer to it. "Well that was definitely not a grotto," Alpha sighed, looking at the Hoppip with disappointment.

Approaching the Hoppip, it tried to approach us as well, looking at Alice with determination. It was used to rangers like Alpha, that's why it didn't even bother to look directly at its eyes. It liked Alice somehow, but battling it was a different matter. That was totally up to Alice.

"I'll just wait here for whatever decision you will do. Make your first move if you're gonna battle it." Alpha came closer to a large rock, resting as he waited for Alice's decision.

What Alice had imagined was some sort of giant clearing of plants was in actuality Pokemon. Well, there were some plants. All around them leafy, fruity, flowery life burst.

"Darn, what a tomato," said Alice. She pointed at a large, round tomato that had two spiky leaves sticking out of it. "Or maybe some apple--oh!"

The tomato had begun to move. It turned around to face them and Alice could see quite clearly that it was no vegetable--or are tomatoes fruits? Whatever. It had two small, black eyes and a thin bulge that was its nose. It looked curiously up at Alice and she almost laughed.

"Oh Hoppip, silly me. You ain't a plant, are you? And there I was, thinking I'd have a good start to a BLT."

Aloha was talking.

"Huh? Oh yeah. Umm, no, I don't feel like a Hoppip battle now. It'd make me too hungry. Let's continue." She glanced sideways at her ranger, wondering how he would react to her insinuation that she would be willing to eat a Pokemon.​

 

NBP#4

Most of the time that Alice was talking to the Hoppip and to herself, Alpha was watching her but not actually responding to a word she said. "Huh? Oh yeah. Umm, no, I don't feel like a Hoppip battle now. It'd make me too hungry. Let's continue." Alice said to Alpha, who nodded silently in return.

He felt like his rest was too short, so he tried to stand where he was sitting. "Bay!!" A yellow Pokemon rammed Alpha on the sides. It, then, faced Alice in surprise.

"Alice, Bayleef seems to be a worthy opponent. Haven't you seen the evidence!?" Alpha tried to stand from the ground and went to another rock, evading Bayleef in the process. Magnezone went closer to Alpha and scanned his injuries; none of them were severe from this point. Alpha peered on the rock to check up on Alice and her incoming decision.

"Bay, Bayleef!" It put on its angry look towards Alice. Judging the way it looked, it could ram at any moment.

"Alice, think faster! It might make an ambush!" Alpha shouted at a distance.

"Woah!" Alice yelled. She scrambled backwards as the Bayleef wheeled around. It was a beautiful Pokemon, its skin a smooth yellow and a vivid fuchsia flower petal covering its neck like an absurd lion's mane. It locked eyes with her, giving Alice the impression of extreme wildness.

Instinctively, Alice reached into her pocket and withdrew her Arcanine's Pokeball. However, she did not release him.

"Alpha, I don't wanna battle him. Why do you say it might be a trap?" Quickly, she added, "If we could distract it, we could--no, forget that. What's wrong with it? Bayleef don't normally attack humans."​

 

NBP#5

"What's wrong with it? Bayleef don't normally attack humans." Alice asked Alpha, who came out from the rocks and went towards Alice.

"I don't know, actually. Maybe it was excited to see new people? Or it maybe looked for a battle?" Alpha questioned Alice back. "Whatever it is, let's just go deeper in the gardens." Alpha continued to escort alice inside the gardens. They went to a rocky staircase that led down to the gardens. There were wooden poles that created a small entrance at the end of the staircase that led to some huts and more plants.

The ground felt softer now, they were walking on sand. They must be somewhere that looked like a desert, but there were lots of plants to actually call it a desert. "Neat, a cactus." Alpha pointed at a moving cactus that was roaming at the sandy parts of the garden.

"Cacnea!?" The small round cactus knew that Alpha and Alice were there. It readied itself for battle. Alpha looked at Alice again.

"I'm guessing we're going to run again?" Alpha pondered. So far, there were three encounters already and Alice decided not to battle them all. This one was her fourth, Alpha was guessing she would avoid it and make a run for it.

"I actually kind of like Cacnea. They remind me of my mother--she loved cactus'." Alice would have liked to go on in pleasant memories of times past, but she knew from experience that time mattered in battles.

She slid Growly's Pokeball back into her pocket and instead withdrew a small black and orange ball. Kaci's Pokeball. Taking a few steps back from the battle field, she tossed the ball into the air. A burst of cyan light later and Alice's Dragonite stood before Cacnea.

"You ready to fight?" Alice asked. She couldn't be sure if Cacnea grinned at her or not, but she thought he might have.

"Alright. Use attack number one!" Alice called out to Kaci. "But dear, please don't go totally all out on Cacnea. Don't use all your power--just most of it. We don't wanna knock him out, do we?" Way back when, Alice had taught many of her Pokemon coded attacks. Attack number one, for example, was code for Fire Punch.

Kaci laughed, a surprisingly light hearted sound. Still smiling, he focused on Cacnea. Immediately a pale scarlet glow began to outline Kaci's left paw. Tiny violet and orange flames began to crawl over that fist as Kaci carefully concentrated his power. It wasn't a hard attack, but it was a pain in the bum when you were trying to control yourself.

Suddenly, Kaci jumped forward, his fist raised to strike Cacnea with a Fire Punch.

"So, you have girlfriend?" Alice asked Alpha conversationally. It wasn't that she didn't care about the impending battle--quite the opposite. She often dealt with nerves by chatting at her opponents, who in turn were distracted. Since there wasn't another trainer to natter at, she picked the next best thing--her ranger.​

 

Cacnea BP#1

OOC: It's not me who did it, it was Alpha. ;D

IC:

"I actually kind of like Cacnea. They remind me of my mother--she loved cactus." Alice walked closer to Cacnea. She took a Pokeball from her pocket, revealing a large orange dragon that roared its name to the heavens. Cacnea was brave to stand up against Dragonite and not ended up running and crying like a crybaby.

"Good luck, Alice." Alpha winked back at Alice, turning around to sit at the rocky staircase near them. He blushed as he sat down--he never winked at anyone before.

"Alright. Use attack number one!" Alice commanded.

"'Attack number one'?" Alpha thought. He wasn't really used to trainers who used codes for moves and nicknamed Pokemon. He silently watched and checked what move would Dragonite do. But before anything else happened, he grabbed Magnezone's Pokeball and retrieved it back.

"But dear, please don't go totally all out on Cacnea. Don't use all your power--just most of it. We don't wanna knock him out, do we?" Alice added as Dragonite smiled back. Leaning backwards, his fist was covered with flames as he smiled at Cacnea. The fire was getting intense until Dragonite dashed happily towards the Cacnea.

"Weird." Alpha freaked out, this was his first time seeing a Pokemon that was attacking who was still happy and laughing about it.

While Dragonite launched its Fire Punch towards Cacnea, it spun around in a rapid motion until the sands underneath him got stronger until it formed a Sandstorm attack. But Dragonite had still launched the attack at Cacnea, barely scratching it. But the type advantage made it look like the damage was greater.

"Meh!" spat Alice as a gust of sand blew into her face. She wiped the gritty crud out from her eyes and, blinking tears away, she cried out to her Pokemon.

"Good Kaci! Your scales should have helped protect you from Cacnea's barbs. Alright, time to hit again with Fire Punch--do it a bit harder this time, if you can." There was no point in using a coded attack now that Cacnea knew what attack number one meant.

Kaci was squinting through the winds of sand at the little cactus, but he still began to power up the attack, his paw glowing a fiery red. His only advantage in a sand storm was that it must also be a pain in the bum for his opponent as well. Unless the opposing Pokemon had managed to grab some goggles, logically, it too should have to deal with the very physical force of sand-in-eyes.

Focusing on Cacnea, Kaci bent his knees down and then leapt forward, raising his fist high for a big attack.

"OW!" Alice cried. She had been prowling around the edge of the storm, trying to get a better vantage point to view things. Not paying attention, she had tripped and landed on a small, squat, very real cactus. Gingerly, still wincing, she pushed herself up, looking at a thin stream of blood that had begun to drip out from the cactus needles in her arm.​

 

Cacnea BP#2

"Good Kaci! Your scales should have helped protect you from Cacnea's barbs. Alright, time to hit again with Fire Punch--do it a bit harder this time, if you can." Alpha watched Alice command the yellow dragon to repeat the same move again. Surprisingly, he was still smiling when he attacked Cacnea with its fiery fists.

"Be careful, Alice, Cacnea could counter you at any moment." Cacnea started to spit these white fully cotton-like balls that was left floating in mid-air. "Be careful, its using Cotton Spore!"

But it was too late, Cacnea pointed its two arms towards Dragonite when its needles on the tips of its arms were shot at the dragon. The Pin Missile attack quickly made its way to Dragonite. Having not to avoid earlier than it could, the missiles struck Dragonite down, tossing it to the other side of the garden, striking it onto another large cactus. "That has got to hurt." Alpha could feel the pain Dragonite felt upon making contact with the cactus.

"I told 'ya it never backs down from a fight." Alpha gave Alice a thumbs up, cheering her up a bit so that she wouldn't feel depressed.

Alpha stood from the stony staircase and decided to come closer to Alice, patting her on the shoulder. "I know you could do better, try not to use moves consecutively. Cacnea might memorize your patterns and use it to its advantage," Alpha warned Alice as he went back to where he sat before.

Cacnea, looking quite fierce enough, expected tougher fights from a Dragonite, even though its attacks didn't actually dealt that much. It readied itself in case Dragonite would come rushing it towards Cacnea.

"Ouch!" moaned Alice. Not only had she just stuck her hand on one of the bloodthirsty little plants, but Kaci had just been knocked into a cactus.

"It's okay, Kaci! No, don't burn the thing!" Kaci had scrambled up, still crying in pain and glared down at the cactus. Alice knew that look--her usually jolly Pokemon would have liked nothing better than to set ablaze the thorny-plant.

"And yeah," Alice turned to Alpha. "That Cacnea is sure a brave little guy. I could use that--he'll always attack me. But defense is no way to win a battle."

Kaci snorted in agreement, a few wisps of smoke coming from his nostrils. He slit his eyes as he glared at the Cacnea. A few handfuls of sand swirled around, making the air glitter.

"Alright, use number four! And remember--be fast!" Alice ordered. Kaci nodded and readied himself. He curled his claws into a fist that began to glow orange--Number four was Focus Punch.

Suddenly, he charged forward as fast as he could go, his fist poised for the strike.

Cacnea BP#3

"That Cacnea is sure a brave little guy. I could use that--he'll always attack me. But defense is no way to win a battle." Alpha turned his head to Alice, dedicated to battle the Cacnea with her Dragonite. Kaci, the Dragonite, snorted and smoke came out from its nostrils.

Cacnea, on the other hand, raised its arms in the air and looked fiercly at the Dragonite--it knew that it wouldn't put down a fight. "Alright, use number four! And remember--be fast!" Alice commanded. Alpha tilted his head in confusion until Dragonite's arm was glowing with an orange aura and went directly towards Cacnea--it was Focus Punch.

Cacnea just walked easily towards the Dragonite. To its surprise, it stopped continuing the attack. "What!? Dragonite continue attacking!" As a ranger, Alpha still had the power to motivate the trainer's Pokemon to continue attacking, but it won't listen. Cacnea pointed at a small plant near them and Dragonite was a fool to look into it. Suddenly Cacnea punched Dragonite directly in the face, running back to where it came from.

"That's a Sucker Punch." Alpha's jaw dropped in amusement--this was one strategic Cacnea.

Dragonite continued to make its attack; its first turned orange again and dashed towards Cacnea. Swinging its fist, it reached Cacnea and tossed it back to the other side of the field, tossing it to one of the large cactus that stood upright on the ground.

"Now that's a score!" Alpha raised his right hand and smiled.

IC: From Kaci's point-of-view

"Woot! Yadid it!" Alice yelled. Kaci turned and smiled at her, noticing that her chest was rising up and down rapidly. He was excited. Battling was his play field, his chance to shine. Already his senses were sharpening, little details sticking out at him like blazing neon signs--a ladybug, a flattened looking plant, the beads of sweat on his scales. Primitive as it may be, it was also Alice's moment. Her blood had to be racing through her veins as the fight heated up and she had to be focusing solely on him, almost completely ignoring her ranger.

"Try to avoid tunnel vision!" Alice called out to him. "And use Number Three!" She then turned, whispering to Alpha. Kaci caught the words "exciting" and "wow!"

He wanted to roll his eyes, but just stopped himself. Yes, he had to watch out for tunnel vision, as often intense battles led to complete block out of the environment and then Cacnea would be on him like blue on sky. But how could Alice speak of tunnel vision when she was there with her fly wide open and not two inches away from stepping on a little cactus?

Turning, Kaci focused on Cacnea. His focus was clear--Number Three was Dragon Rush, he ought to have ample space to do the attack in. Quickly and steadily he sank into himself. His breathing calmed. His eyes remained wide open and bright. He felt the bubbling churn of power that belonged to his dragon nature. And then suddenly he burst forward. His muscles yanked as he threw himself through the air and at Cacnea.

Cacnea BP#4

"Try to avoid tunnel vision! And use Number Three!" Alice called to her Dragonite, but her last few words seemed like a whisper to Alpha. Dragonite stared for a few seconds at Cacnea until it flew high in the sky. It looked at Cacnea once more until it decided to rush down from the heavens at blinding speed, a blue light was swallowing Dragonite as it descended from the skies.

"Hm?" Alpha noticed that Cacnea wasn't walking an inch away from Dragonite, knowing that it would ram it at any second. Instead it had its arms crossed in front of itself and braced for impact. "I wonder what that Cacnea's up to." As soon as Dragonite came closer to Cacnea, Cacnea enveloped itself in a green circle barrier that was capable of preventing any damage to reach its body. Dragonite recoiled backwards after ramming Cacnea's Protect attack.

Suddenly, Cacnea stretched out its arms wide enough until white cotton spores came out from its mouth, flying gently in the air until it made its way towards Dragonite. The cotton spores floated in the air, as some clinged onto Dragonite, reducing its speed drastically.

"With Dragonite's speed reduced, you need to outspeed Cacnea, Alice." Alpha hoped that Alice could do more strategies to outsmart Cacnea.
