Ranger Jack Fenix

Jack had been waiting at the outpost for the power plant for a little now. His new boss Ivy had came to him and demanded that he go to the outpost and wait for the trainer he was going to run. He had tried looking to Chainy for help, but the guy thought it better to watch him getting yelled at than the traditional other way around. He supposed that’s what happened when you didn’t get your paperwork done.

This is why the usually lazy Jack was left bored out of his mind as he waited for his trainer to show up. He had been here a half an hour with nothing to do. Even the paperwork sounded fun. He couldn’t even get to sleep because the wind was just cold enough to keep him awake; too bad he didn’t have a fire pokemon with him. Jack was left wondering how much longer this Seth guy was going to be here. Jack actually read everything in the profile of the guy purely out of bordum. That’s the first time he had every done that. All he knew now was he hoped the guy would get here soon. He wanted to get a little revenge on Ivy.

“Alright, Sonya,” Called Seth to an abnormally large chicken, standing a few feet in front of him. Ahead of the large poultry, sat a foul smelling plant with legs. The plant looked very beaten and sore, its head rocking back and forth slowly, as if it were about to pass out at any second. “Let’s try to finish this off with a Slash!” The chicken, a Pokémon called Blaziken, lunged towards the plant. Raking three sharp claws across its flowery top. “Sleep Powder!” The plants trainer called, but it was no use. The ugly plant fell face forward, releasing a cloud of dust as it hit the ground with a thud.

“Great battle!” The other trainer said, returning his fainted Pokémon to its capsule. “Your Blaziken is really strong.” The man wandered towards Seth, his footsteps landing softly on the dirt. Until both trainers were standing in front of each other.

“Your Vileplume’s really strong to,” Seth replied. He stuck his hand out, and the other trainer grasped it firmly. “I hope to see you around. Have a rematch someday.” The other trainer nodded and turned around, walking towards the nearest Pokémon Center.

“Great job Sonya, you deserve a break.” Seth returned his Pokémon, and glanced at the small white watch on his wrist. He had about ten minutes before he had to meet his ranger at the Abandoned Power Plant outpost. He was going in there today, in hope of catching some new Pokémon. Trainers going into the park needed a supervisor though, who knows what kind of damage could be dealt without one.

“Flygon, come on out!” Demanded Seth, throwing his Pokémon’s capsule into the air. A large, light green, insect like dragon appeared. It flew around in a circle, before gazing down at its trainer. “Do you think I could get a ride to the outpost Emerald? We have to be there soon, and this way would be much faster.” The Flygon nodded, and landed softly on the dry road. He clambered onto its back, before it took off into the sky once more.

The ground underneath them swirled past quickly, a mess of browns and bright greens, Seth held on to Emerald as tight as he could, whilst looking down for signs of the outpost. Up ahead a huge building, painted in an ugly and dingy grey stood. The windows were run down, and tinted. Any movement inside couldn’t seen from the people and Pokémon outside of it. Seth tapped on the Insect Dragons back, and it slowed down.

“I think this is it Emerald,” said Seth. His Pokémon looked at the eerier building, and landed hesitantly on the ground. The dirt here was dark brown and compact. Hurting Emeralds feet a bit as it touched down. Seth jumped off his Pokémon’s back, rubbing his hands up and down the Flygons neck. As he looked towards a young man, pacing back and forth.

“I wonder if that’s my Ranger,” he thought, continuing to caress his Pokémon.

Jack ceased the pacing he didn’t realize he was doing. He had been busy putting together plans for his revenge on ivy. He looked up when he saw a figure approach. It was a person, male, short, riding a Flygon. The pokemon and trainer came down and the man jumped off. He recognized him as the person he was going to run though the Abandoned Power plant. It didn’t look like the trainer was going to introduce himself so that left Jack to start. He moaned quietly to himself.

“Hello Seth, my name is Jack and I will be your ranger for today’s run.” His voice started out loud but quickly fell. He continued. “Today I will be showing you around the Abandoned Power Plant. During the course of the trip you will only be allowed to have the pokemon you specified released from their balls, which means that you will have to recall your Flygon. Any pokemon we come across you will be allowed to battle and attempt to capture. Also remember, if you do any major damage or harm to the environments around here it could constitute an ejection from the park. Other than that let us have a safe and fun trip.” Jack finally finished his obviously rehearsed spew. Every word was laced with boredom. He then turned to his trainer. “Any questions?”

He didn’t wait to see if he actually did have any questions because he went into his next question.

“Now, would you prefer to enter the power plant or see if there is anything outside or around the plant first? The choice is yours, we’ll go look wherever you want.” Jack was already feeling the boredom effects. He wanted to be back at his office desk sleeping. Even if it meant getting his head bit off by his boss. He thought it would be best to try and keep himself up and alert, so he pulled a pokeball from his jacket pocket and dropped it on the ground. The white light took form and then color. It was revealed to be a Froslass. “Hey Tali, you wanna come along and make sure I don’t drift off?”

The two of them were totally opposite personalities, one very bored and lazy, the other serious and stern. They balanced each other. Tali made sure he actually got stuff done, and me made sure she never got stressed from all her seriousness.

Jack then turned to his trainer, waiting for a response.

The man Seth was staring at walked over to him, and introduced himself. His voice starting out strong, but trailing off near the end.

“Hello Seth, my name is Jack and I will be your ranger for today’s run. Today I will be showing you around the Abandoned Power Plant.” Before Seth could reply, the man continued.

“During the course of the trip, you will only be allowed to have the Pokémon you specified, released from their balls, which means you will have to recall your Flygon. Any Pokémon we come across you will be allowed to battle, and attempt to capture. To Seth, the mans entire speech sounded planned. Like it was being read from a manual, he said a quite thank you and goodbye to Emerald, before safely returning it to its ball. He looked back at the Ranger, who was staring directly at him.

“Any questions?” Seth opened his mouth to respond, but the ranger didn’t give him a chance to.

“Now, would you prefer to enter the power plant or see if there is anything outside or around the plant first? The choice is yours, we’ll go look wherever you want.” The ranger asked. Seth pondered the idea, wondering which route would be the best to take, as the man released a Pokémon from its capsule. A Froslass.

“I’d like to look around the outside of the plant first, if that’s alright.” Seth finally decided. Answering the rangers question, and awaiting his next instructions.

Jack nodded and the pair of them along with Jack’s Froslass then began to walk around the perimeter of the building. There were a few trees and small areas of tall grass where pokemon could be located.
They continued around, the wind whipping through the trees and across the grass making a unique sound to the area. Jack looked around the area trying to spot any pokemon.

Finally, Jack stopped; he then looked into the tall grass nearest to him. He stared into the grass obviously waiting for something to happen. The grass continued to move like the ocean in the breeze until finally what Jack had spotted was seen again. A small area of grass began to shake harshly. Something was in there. The base of the grass parted to reveal a little red ball. The ball rolled until it stopped at the base of Jack’s foot. He reached down and picked it up. It was an apple. He looked up at more rustling and out of the grass popped out a large yellow mouse. Its tail, pointed straight up in a zig zag pattern. The electric mouse looked around and spotted the piece of fruit that Jack was holding. It put on a face of anger and little electric bolts arced from its cheeks.

“Woah woah, here you can have it. I just saw it.” And he tossed the apple back to the Pikachu. The yellow mouse jumped up and caught the fruit in the air.

“What do you think? Would you like to catch this Pikachu?” Jack asked.
