Gaius leaned back in his chair and stared out the window. It was his first back at work after taking a sabbatical from work. It had only been a couple of months, but already a bunch of new faces were in the offices. A bunch of the previous Rangers had moved on or retired, there was even a new ranger. That was too be expected though in this kind of work. Some people stayed for a while, while others got bored and moved on. Gaius had almost retired himself, but he decided to hold off a little bit longer. Gaius hadn't even been back a couple of days before three runs fell in his lap. He had already finished on in the Enigma Ruins for a friend, and he was about to take some kid to the Gardens. A quick look at the clock in his office told him he had fifteen minutes to get ready. It was around ten in the morning so he would have to eat lunch when he got back. An average run took anywhere between two and five hours. Then of course you had the hour of paperwork after. So in the average day you got a run or two. He had this one today and another tomorrow.

He rose from the desk, grabbed his gear, and walked out the door, snagging two of his Pokeballs along the way. As he passed the front desk he download the info on the trainer to his iPad and headed out the door. The Gardens was a fair distant away and it was starting to rain, so he decided to take one of the ATVs parked outside the office. He arrived at the gates to the Gardens a few minutes early so he parked the vehicle and waited for Airik to show up.

Airik grabbed his bag off of his coffee table, he had just finished packing it preparing for his next visit to the National Park. Airik was excited to be going back specifically to the Botanical Gardens there where three Pokemon he wanted to capture this visit, Ferroseed, Tropius and Altaria. Although he already had a Ferrothorn he had promised a friend he would see about getting him one and Tropius was one of the few Grass type Pokemon Airik didn't already own. Altaria was a different matter, being one of the rarer Dragon type pokemon Airik hadn't really seen any other way he would be able to capture it without taking a lot of time off from his position at the Eterna City Gym. Airik headed for the door finishing his last bite of toast before opening it and heading through into the main Eterna Gym from his living quaters it didnt take him long to spot the pokemon he was after.

"Exeggutor" Airik said "Can you take me back to the botanical Gardens" the Grass and Psychic type simply chanted its name as Airik grew closer to it the world around him began to shake and shift in and out of focus as a pinky haze fell on him. As the haze cleared Airik was in a familiar spot he had been here before. "Thanks Exxegutor" he said reaching for a pokeball "Now Return" a flash of red light struck out and covered the Egg pokemon before it vanished into the tiny capture device. Now that Airik was outside of the Gardens he grabbed his Normal type repellant and sprayed it all over his body. He began to head up the park to the main gate all the while he was readying his pokeplayer and swapping his old Corphish voice disk for the New Ferroseed one. When he got to the gate he saw his ranger however it wasn't one of the many he had met before he got close enough to reach the ranger and extended his hand "Hi, I'm Airik"

The Ranger only had to wait a few minutes before a young man came strolling up the dirt path. He looked just the kid in my file, so it had to be Airik. His young appearance made Gaius wonder where he got the 'dr.' title from, but that would have to be another day. He walked up and extended his hand to Gaius in greeting.

"Hi, I'm Airk," he said without preamble.

Gaius returned the handshake and responded, "I figured as much. You already know how everything works here, so we can start the run now if you don't mind."

Gaius turned to the gate and swiped his ID through the scanner. After his identity was confirmed, the gates swung open to admit him and Airik. The Botanic Gardens was an enclosed area filled with all types of vegetation and foodstuffs. It would be impossible for a lost person to starve in this location there was so much food. As such, this area was home to Grass and Normal type Pokemon mostly. You could sometimes catch a bug type or two, and some other types, but for the most part you would only see Grass and Normal types. This run however Airik had used a Normal type repellent, meaning he would only be seeing the Grass type Pokemon this one. Gaius had never visited the Gardens to catch Pokemon, but if he did he would use the repellent also. This was because most of the Normal type Pokemon here were low grade, and the powerful ones he either didn't want or already had, like Snorlax.

The pair walked through the gate and Gaius immediately saw a Pokemon hiding in plain sight. If he was far away or a good distance he wouldn't spot the Pokemon. But since the Pokemon was only about ten feet away in a bush he could see it. It was an Oddish, a Grass and Poison Pokemon. Oddish had a purple-ish body that consisted of two short legs, and that was it. its head was part of the trunk, and long strands of foliage grew from its head. Gaius pointed the Pokemon out to Airik to see if he was interested.

Airik followed his ranger through the gate and along the path and Airik saw it the moment his ranger did. An Oddish, a Grass and Poison type native to the Kanto region one of the few Pokemon to have a Split evolution. It's Final forms where Bellossom or Vileplume, Bellossom lost its poison typing and became a pure grass type where as Vileplume was known for being a good defensive pokemon. Sadly Neither of these Pokemon was what Airik was looking for infact he already had a Vileplume and although he wanted Bellossom, Oddish are fairly easy to capture in the Kanto region and he was sure he would be taking a visit there in the not to distant future.

Airik looked at Gaius as he Pointed towards the adorable little Oddish, Simply shaking his head he reached inside his jacket to withdraw $500 held together by a money clip "If we need to use a pokedoll to get past it I'm ok with that" he whispered to try not alert the Oddish to there presence. Preparing to move on Airik queued up the next track on his Pokeplayer hoping desperately to encounter a Ferroseed. The Thorn Seed Pokemon was going to be a gift for someone and although Christmas was passed it would be better late than never.

Airik reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash held together by a clip. "If we need to use a Pokedoll to get past it I'm ok with that," he whispered, trying to not let the Oddish hear the two.

Gaius didnt think it mattered all that much because the Oddish would have heard Gaius when he pointed out the Pokemon to Airik. As if on cue, the Oddish turned to face the two people. It's intention was clear when its green leaves started to turn purple, a sigh it was getting ready to use Poison Powder, a move that would poison any Pokemon that came into contact with the powder. If a human was caught in the attack, it would cause an itching rash to break out upon the areas of the skin that came into contact with it. Luckily for the pair, Airik had just offered to buy a Pokedoll to escape the Pokemon.

Gaius grabbed the five hundred for the Pokedoll and handed the toy to the trainer. Airik took the plus toy and threw it at Oddish. The Grass Pokemon ceased its attack and went after the doll. No Pokemon could resist the toys the park produced, making them the perfect escape tools for the right price. As the Oddish returned to its bush with its prize, Gaius heard another sound coming from their right. He turned to see a gray and green Pokemon come hopping towards the two. It's long limbs and barbs told Gaius it a Pokemon Airik had been looking for, Ferroseed. It was a rare Pokemon that many people wanted, but few had. It could garner some good Pokemon in trades, but most kept the Pokemon instead of trading it.

"Well, there's the Pokemon you've been looking for," Gaius said to his young charge.

Gaius, the ranger with Airik just grabbed the five hundred for the pokedoll out of his hand. That was a little rude thought Airik, as he had the plush pokemon toy unceremoniously pushed in his direction. Taking the toy Airik threw it towards the Oddish, which was fortunate as its leaves where starting to turn purple, Airik recognised this as Poison Powder. Poison Powder, could be dangerous for pokemon but against humans it only caused a rash admittedly a very irritating rash that would have you scratching the skin off your arms for days. The Park was right to boast that no pokemon coould resist there famed Pokedolls in Airiks experience they always worked and this instance was no exception . The Oddish stopped its attack and ran after the doll, it literally threw itself at the toy and then turned around pushing towards the bush it came from.

Gaius and Airik turned at almost the same time hearing a noise coming from there right, Airik saw it at the same time as Gaius the small gray and green pokemon that came bounding towards them. Covered in its Iron Barbs it was easy to see why this was called the Thorn Seed Pokemon, but Airik knowing he wanted one of this had to his mind brought the perfect counter to this prickly Little customer.

"Well, there's the Pokemon you've been looking for," Gaius said to Airik
The younger man simply nodded.

Reaching into his bag Airik produced two items, the first was what you might expect a pokeball. The pokemon within was Airik's Ninetales one of his favourite non grass type pokemon it also had the Ability Drought causing the sky to clear and the sun to shine intensley, this would help because it boosted the power of fire type attacks which it just so happaned Ferroseed was double weak too. The second item was a small canister very reminiscent of the bullet style deodrants the extra small ones good for only one or two sprays. Rather than deodrant or anti persperant this canister contained Soothing Fragrance Max, the spray designed to calm the nerves of angry nervous or otherwise fractious pokemon.

Airik took a few tentative steps towards the Thorn Seed pokemon and began Spritizing it in the air around it. If this worked as Airik had planned it should make the Grass and Steel type a relativley easy capture. Backing off before throwing the pokeball containing Ninetales Airik noticed that the spray seemed to be doing its job and the Ferroseed already appeared slightly less agressive. Airik tossed the pokeball into the air and with a Brilliant flash of light Ninetales was free letting out a small bark like roar.

Almost instantly Airik felt the wind die down and as he looked up the clouds began to part allowing the sun to shine intensley into the small clearing in the national park. Airik's plan for this fight was a very simple one get up a boost with Nasty plot and use flamethrower, the type advantage and the sun along with the boosts should help it overcome its unevolved opponenent quickly but Airik was aware to not understimate the Thorn Seed pokemon his own Ferrothorn had many tricks up its sleeve who knew what moves this one could have.

"Ok Ninetales" Airik shouted loudly to get the fox like pokemons attention "I want you to use Nasty Plot." Ninetales let out a small bark before begining to pace back and forth infront of the Ferroseed its legs locked into a rythmic motion, all the while intense feelings of Hatred and Disgust seemed to ooze off of Ninetales. The whole move didnt take long to complete but at the end of it Ninetales would be more focussed and deadly than before honing its killer instinct.

"Good Job Ninetales, now lets begin with Will o Wisp" the Idea behind this move would be that if it struck true it would lower the opponents attack and it would suffer residual damage each turn .

Airik nodded, not giving a verbal response as he was not concentrating completely on the Grass and Steel Pokemon in front of him. It was clear he really wanted this Pokemon. He started by taking two items from his backpack, one being a Pokeball and the other being a small spray bottle. Based on its color Gaius knew the bottle was a Soothing Fragrance Max, which would make the Pokemon easier to capture. An easy way to explain it would be that it was like the Charm attack. Airik summoned his Pokemon next, a powerful looking fox-like Pokemon with nine tails and cream colored fur. It's eyes were red and the Pokemon had this majestic air about it. The Pokemon was a Ninetales, a Fire Pokemon that was pretty powerful and could know the move Nasty Plot, making it a potential deadly Pokemon to any Pokemon team if it had time to set up its stats. Soon as the Pokemon appeared the sun immediately began to shine bright. This was no coincidence. The Ninetales must have known its Dream World ability, which was Drought. Drought made the sunlight stronger on the field while the Pokemon was out there unless the weather was changed.

Normally Gaius would recommend using a Pokemon that was super effective against the one the trainer was fighting, but since Ferroseed was a basic, Ninetales was strong, plus Drought, one powerful Fire attack could KO the Ferroseed in one blast. Airik would have to careful about he approached this battle. Airik sprayed the Fragrance in the air around the Ferroseed and gave his Pokemon its first command.

"Ok, Ninetales," Airik shouted, a little more loudly than he needed to, "I want you to use Nasty Plot."

There it was, the Nasty Plot. That combined with the weather meant that Ninetales could only use the most basic of Fire attacks, like Ember, otherwise the Ferroseed would get knocked out in one blow. If it was knocked out, then Airik couldn't catch it. He would have to be careful about how he approached this.

The Ninetales began to stalk around its opponent, each move a reminder of how deadly the Pokemon could be, made even more so as the Pokemon began to channel rage to boost its Special Attack. The Ferriseed didn't seem at all fazed by how the battle was taking shape. Small vines sprouted from the sides of its body and shot into ground. When nothing happened a moment later, Gaius figured the Pokemon had used Ingrain, which would heal the Pokemon for a percentage of health every turn. If Airik noticed this, he didn't seem to think about it much as it order his next attack almost immediately.

"Good Job, Ninetales, now lets begin with Will o Wisp."

Will-O-Wisp lowered the attack of the Pokemon it hit while dealing damage. Since Ferroseed didn't rely on on Attack, even though it could use some strong ones, it wouldn't effect the Pokemon too much. The Will-O-Wisp was probably to make the Pokemon easier to capture, as all status type moves did. Ninetales opened its mouth to reveal a small purple flame. The flame drifted out and aimed straight towards the rooted Ferroseed. Ferroseed looked at the attack and suddenly I could see small yellow dots of light converge on Ferroseed. In a second the Grass Pokemon's body was surrounded by the light, all of it going into its body. Before the Will-O-Wisp could reach Ferroseed, a bright beam of light about the size of Ferroseed's body shot forth from the Pokemon. The attack burned through the Ninetales's attack and headed straight for the Fire type. Being so close, the Ninetales didn't dodge in time and was hit by the full force of the attack. Granted it wouldn't do much damage, but still.
