""Damnit Leo, go away!" Gabriella giggled as she turned away. She was the new secertary, the fourth one this month. "You got a new trainer to take through." She said, turning back around and shoving a green folder in my face.

"It's cool, let one of the newer Rangers handle it." I said, looking at the file.

"They are all out training." She said.

"Well, what better way to train than to go on an actual expedition with this trainer." I said, grinning.

"You are absolutely correct." A deep voice said from behind me. I sighed.

"Damnit!" I thought to myself. "She's not supposed to be in today."

"Helga, I didn't know you were in today." I said, trying to sound as positive as I could. She adjusted her glasses on her large round head as she looked at Gabreila and shook her head.

"That would be perfect training, but that isn't planned until next week." She said. "You don't want to do this run?"

"Oh, of course I do ma'am, I'll get right on it." I said, moving quickly to my office. I didn't want to get the Park Warden mad, so I didn't have a choice but to take this run. I grabbed my backpack with supplies and three Pokeballs.

I darted out side, smiling at Gabriella on my way out. I whistled loudly and a large, black hell hound came running towards me. "Ready Shadow? We got to go on a park run." Shadow howled and nodded his head. I pulled out a dark grey, metallic Pokeball and tossed it in front of me. A small hummingbird-looking robot appeared in front of me.

"PORY-gon!" It said yawning. The black and red Pokemon looked up at me, waiting for my commands.

"Hey buddy, can you teleport us to Mt. Oktori?" I asked, already knowing the answer, but I hated forcing my Pokemon to do stuff. He nodded and lifted his small wing-like arms.

"Thanks Cybershock." I said as all three of our bodies began to glow. In an instant we were teleported to the entrance of Mt. Oktori. When we got there, I saw a teenage girl standing by the gate. I could see the wind blowing her burnette hair all over the place.

"Looks like its going to be windy here, should've brought a bigger jacket." I said to Shadow and Cybershock and shrugged. I walked up to the girl. "Hey, my name is Leo, and I'll be your Ranger for today. There are my partner Pokemon Shadow and Cybershock." Shadow let out a happy bark and Cybershock made a clicking noise and nodded.

"When you're ready, we can head off." I said.

"9:57," Anna muttered to herself through clenched teeth. It was freezing and, Russian or not, she was not a fan of the cold. The wind was anything but merciless, she could feel the cold seeping through her clothes and into her bones. A large, black Pokemon lumbered along at her side, not even fazed by the stark temperature. "We have to be c-close by n-now, Marlowe," Anna said to her Swampert, shivering. The Pokemon nodded in agreement. At any rate, they certainly felt close.

9:59 - The numbers flashed on her cell, reminding her that if she didn't hurry, she was going to miss her run through the park. "Dammit. We've been on this path for hours now... why isn't there an," Anna was cut short by Marlowe, who was nudging her leg. "What is it, Marlowe?" The Swampert let out a low grumble and raised a foreleg, pointing towards a building in the distance. Anna squinted, bringing the house and what appeared to be a small sign into focus. "That must be the outpost," Anna mused, sighing with relief, "Let's make a break for it; I'm freezing."

Anna ran towards the outpost, stopping only briefly to put Marlowe back into her pokeball. Marlowe was no ordinary looking Swampert, and she didn't want her scaring away any Pokemon before she could approach them. Finally, the building was in plain sight. Anna slowed her run and came to a stop in front of the sign, just in time to see a young man walk out of the outpost. She smiled as he introduced himself. "Am I glad to see you... I thought for awhile there I wasn't going to make it. Anyway, I'm Anna. Nice to meet you, Leo... Cybershock and Shadow as well."

Anna crossed her arms and rubbed her shoulders, trying to keep warm. "I'm more than ready; let's get moving."

Am I glad to see you... I thought for awhile there I wasn't going to make it. Anyway, I'm Anna. Nice to meet you, Leo... Cybershock and Shadow as well." She said. Then she rubbed her shoulders, trying to keep warm. "I'm more than ready; let's get moving." I just grinned.

"Okay, but I feel I should warn you that it'll only get colder the farther we go." I said, adjusting my jacket. "If you have anything to keep you warm, you should use it." I knew Shadow could keep us warm if he needed too, but the charts said Anna would be bringing an Infernape, which was pretty smart of her.

I began walking slow, towards the entrance of the mountain. I wasn't sure what kind of Pokemon she was hoping to find here. There were many Pokemon in this area, but some only appeared in certain places, and to add to that, we would have to be lucky for them to appear. I looked at the top of the snow-capped mountain. It was a long climb, but I wasn't sure if Anna wanted to go that way.

"We can either go into the cave and make our way up the mountain, or we can make our way around the mountain to the frozen lake. Unless you have another way?" I said.

"Okay, but I feel I should warn you that it'll only get colder the farther we go." He said, fiddling with his jacket. "If you have anything to keep you warm, you should use it." Anna nodded and took off her backpack, placing it on the ground next to her. After rummaging through it for a few seconds, she pulled out a rather small, black peacoat and gingerly put in on. 'Well... it's better than nothing...' she thought. Anna reached into her pocket and pulled out a nazy blue pokeball with a lighter blue flame emblem on top.

"Come on out, Vulcan," she said, tossing the ball into the air. In a flash of light, an Infernape appeared. He stretched, yawned, and let out a cry. "Vulcan isn't a normal Infernape, as you can see. His flames are blue and therefore hotter than those of your average Infernape," Anna said with a grin, "He radiates heat; like my own personal space heater." Vulcan let out a monkey-like shriek, amused by the comparison.

"We can either go into the cave and make our way up the mountain, or we can make our way around the mountain to the frozen lake. Unless you have another way?" Honestly, Anna had no preference at all. What drew her to Mt. Oktori were the rumors of Riolu and the Snorunt sightings, but she had no idea where they would be found. Vulcan, however, seemed to know exactly where he wanted to go. As soon as Leo mentioned the frozen lake, the Infernape began to jump up and down, swinging his arms wildly.

"Looks like we're going to be heading to the frozen lake."

"Looks like we're going to be heading to the frozen lake." Anna said after her Infernape cried out excidetly when I mentioned the frozen lakes.

"Haha, okay, the lake it is." I said. "This is the path we'll take, much safer." I began walking down a narrow dirt path. I felt quite warm thanks to her Infernape's flame. I was pretty sure that sooner or later, the heat would attract a Pokemon from the wild.

I looked up into the sky, and couldn't seem to find the sun which meant it was only going to get colder. I was about to tell Anna something historical about the area when the bushes next to me began to shake. A small pinkish Pokemon emerged from the bush. It raised its fists and began punching into the air.

"Looks like we got a little fighter here, you want to take a shot at it?" I asked Anna.

Anna grabbed her backpack off the ground and began to follow Leo, Vulcan at her side. The trail looked quite tame, compared to the rugged path she took to the outpost itself. She began to look around, taking in the scenery. The beautiful snow-dusted evergreens and the shimmering blanket of powdersnow on the grass. "Sure is beautiful," she mused. Anna could barely get these words out before the bushes next to her began to rustle. Vulcan's gaze immediately shifted to the spot where the small, pink Pokemon showed itself. A young Tyrogue.

"Looks like we got a little fighter here, you want to take a shot at it?"

"Oh, you know it," Anna said as Vulcan began to beat his chest violently. She nodded to her Infernape and took a few steps back. "Okay, Vulcan. Let's get to work. Remember that new move we practiced? Start out with a Fire Spin Mach Punch." Vulcan jumped back and released a large blast of flaming breathe at his paw, which he began to rotate rapidly. He continued to feed flares into his fist until they, too, began to turn blue. The flames danced around his paw in a violent circle, like a tornado that engulfed his entire arm. The Infernape then began to charge the Tyrogue, his fist blazing as he let out a battle cry.

"Oh, you know it," Anna said as Vulcan began to beat his chest violently. She nodded to her Inf get to work. Remember that new move we practiced? Start out with a Fire Spin Mach Punch." Her Infernape nodded, showing that it understood. It created fire around his fists. The flames were burning blue, and the heat it gave off showed how hot it was. Once it had the flames spiraling around his hands, he charged forward at an incredible speed, slamming its fist hard into the Tyrouge's stomach. Tyrouge groaned a little, but stood its ground. Then he squatted down towards the ground, pushing hard against the earth. He launched himself into the air. He was pretty high in the air, at least twenty five feet into the air. Then he extended his right foot, and was coming down directly on Anna's Infernape. I watched to see what she would do.

A small smirk caressed Anna's face as her Infernape landed his attack. The little pink Pokemon winced, letting out a soft groan, and momentarily grabbed his stomach as he regained his composure. The Tyrogue looked up at his adversary with anger burning in his eyes. Vulcan let out a snort, his way of showing that he wasn't the least bit phased. Of course, this only made the Tyrogue angrier. He dug his hands into the soft earth for leverage and then with a powerful push, launched himself high into the air above Anna and Vulcan. With a mid-air twist, he extended his right foot and began to make a beeline straight for his target.

Anna knew she had to act fast, or Vulcan could be seriously injured. She quickly ran through a few scenarios in her mind. 'Dodge it? Well, maybe. Hit it with a Mach Punch? No. Flamethrower, possibly? Nah. Oh, I know!' Anna shot a glance to her Pokemon and grinned. "Bear with me on this one, Vulcan." He gave a slight nod, his focus not wavering from the incoming attack. "Meet it in the air with a Close Combat." Vulcan got down on all fours and pushed off the ground. Within a second he was within reach of his opponent. He had barely enough time to react, but managed to pull back his fist, hoping to land a blow before the Tyrogue could plant its foot. Vulcan closed his eyes and braced himself for what was to happen next.

"Bear with me on this one, Vulcan." She said. Her Pokemon nodded, not taking his eyes off of the Tyrouge. "Meet it in the air with a Close Combat." Her Pokemon pushed off the ground and launched itself at Tyrouge. Both Pokemon collided. Tyrouge managed to hit Infernape, but it didn't look very hard. Thanks to Infernape's Close Combat attack, the High Jump Kick didn't do much damage. Tyrouge sustained some damage, but it still looked like it had a lot of energy left.

Tyrouge landed on the ground, this time, waited for Infernape to make its move, it put on a sly smile as it prepared for whatever Infernape was going to dish out.

In a split second, the two Pokemon collided. They fell from the sky and threw up a bit of snow and dust; as it settled, the damage could be seen. Vulcan shook his head and wiped his eye, barely scathed by the attack. The Tyrogue, on the other hand, seemed to have suffered a bit more damage. It picked itself off the ground and gave the Infernape a sly grin, as if saying, 'bring it on, buddy.' Vulcan snorted and bared his fangs, letting out a monkey-like shriek. He was clearly as ready as his opponent. Things were beginning to get heated.

"Отлично, Vulcan," Anna said with excitement; the attack was executed perfectly... all according to plan. Anna examined the Tyrogue and folded her arms in disappointment. "We just aren't doing enough damage, Vulcan," She said, pausing for a moment to think, "Let's turn up the heat then." Upon hearing this, the Infernape took a deep breath and clenched his fists. The fire on his head grew two-fold, blazing up into the sky. "Hit it with a Flare Blitz."

Vulcan spewed a large flame into the air, causing it to cascade around his body in a fountain-like way. Once he was completely covered in the flames, he turned towards the Tyrogue and charged at high speed, daring the little pink Pokemon to even try to dodge it.

"We just aren't doing enough damage, Vulcan," She said, pausing for a moment to think, "Let's turn up the heat then." When she said that, the fire on the monkeys heard grew as it prepared for orders. "Hit it with a Flare Blitz."

The Infernape breathed fire into the air and completely covered is body with the flames. It didn't take long for it to be completely covered in flames. Once it was, it launched itself at the small Tyrouge. The Tyrouge grinned once more and charged at the Infernape. Infernape's attack clearly was much stronger. Tyrouge's attack didn't stand a chance. I sadly shook my head.

"That's the problem we have with these little guys." I said to Anna. "They like to pick fights with Pokemon that are stronger than them. While at times that can be a good thing, sometimes they just don't know when to back down. Like here for instance."

The Infernape and Tyrouge collided, only this time, the Infernape's attack was easily overwhelmed Tyrouges, sending the little guy flying back into a tree. As it stood up, a large flame burned the Tyrouge, making it kneel on one knee as it tried to catch its breath. Infernape landed a few feet in front of Anna and cringed a little as it took recoil damages.

"That's the problem we have with these little guys," Leo said, turning to Anna, "They like to pick fights with Pokemon that are stronger than them. While at times that can be a good thing, sometimes they just don't know when to back down. Like here for instance."

Anna frowned, slightly perturbed by the scene at hand. Vulcan's flare blitz had done exactly what it was supposed to do, severely damage the Tyrogue. However, Anna didn't expect it to have such a devastating effect on the small, pink Pokemon. The Tyrogue could barely stand up. With its head lowered, it propped itself up on its knee the best that it could; even its own weight was becoming a burden for it to carry. Its skin was a crimson red in some places, painfully charred from the powerful flames; the attack had clearly inflicted a nasty burn. What was most disturbing of all, however, was that the little Pokemon was still willing to fight. Even with small tears in its eyes, (whether they were from the pain or the anger, Anna couldn't tell) the burning determination could be seen.

"I think the poor little guy has had enough," Anna said to both Leo and Vulcan. The Infernape turned to his trainer and, almost disappointedly, gave a nod in recognition. He sulked back to his position beside Anna, secretly hoping he could finish off his opponent; a rivalry had clearly formed.

Anna reached into her backpack and pulled out a parkball. It was small; green on top, white on the bottom, and had a yellow park crest on the very top. She enlarged it by pressing a small button and averted a small grin to the Tyrogue. "Come on, let's get you fixed up and back into fighting condition." With that said, she tossed the ball into the air, caught it, and then threw it at the little pink Pokemon. The ball bounced off its head and then, in midair, opened to reveal a bright red light. This light then engulfed the Tyrogue, sucking him up inside. With that, it hit the ground. Anna crossed her fingers, hoping it was to be a clean catch.

"I think the poor little guy has had enough," Anna said. Her Infernape sure didn't think so, but it obeyed and stood down. "Come on, let's get you fixed up and back into fighting condition." Anna tossed the ball into the air. Tyrouge raised his hand to swat the ball away, but at the last second allowed the ball to touch him, sending him inside of the sphere. The ball shook but two times and remained still. I walked over and picked up the ball.

"Don't worry, I'll hold on to this until you're ready to leave." I said. "In the mean time, my Gardevoir will heal it back to health." I said, assuring her of his well being.

Her eyes remained glued on the pokeball; the suspense was always so high at this point. The ball shook once, twice, and then remained still. Anna let out a sigh of relief, a small smile caressing her face. She watched as Leo walked over to the green and white sphere, gingerly picking it up. "Don't worry, I'll hold on to this until you're ready to leave," he assured her, "in the mean time, my Gardevoir will heal it back to health." She nodded her approval, knowing her newly-captured comrade would be in good hands.

Anna then turned to her Infernape. Vulcan was scathed a bit - a few visible bruises could be seen on his face and his fists, but there were no lacerations. "How do you feel Vulcan? Think you're in need of a healing?" The ape-like Pokemon shook his head no, slightly offended that she brought up the subject. Anna shook her head and smiled. "Okay, Vulcan. My mistake; you're a tough guy, I know." He gave a snort and nodded, his way of saying, 'Damn straight.'

"So," Anna said, directing her gaze to her ranger, "is there anyway we could walk closer to the lake?"

"More rangers just got approved by the academy?" Buzz asked into his reciever. "There are already more rangers than trainers, I'll be out of a Job soon enough!" He slammed the phone down and span round in his office chair returning to his computer.

An email alert flashed up:

Message to all Rangers,
This is Leo, I'm out at Mt. Oktori with a trainer but something has come up. I can't stay and I need someone to take over. All the details of the Trainer and her run through are enclosed in an attachment.
Thanks to whoever picks this up. I'll meet you at the foot of the mountain, she has just caught a Tyrogue. And she would like to head closer to some of the lakes.

"Well then, looks like its time to get back to work. I might as well get as much work as I can." Buzz said to himself. Normally he would just use River Tam, his Xatu, to teleport up there. But she was still resting from a tough new battle challenge, where lots of Pokemon all face off at once. She got a bit picked on at the end when she was close to winning.

So Buzz decided to use the Park's teleport system, it was a bit slower but it did the job. Once he had collected his things, he rushed off and was soon at the foot of the mountain, briefly chatting with the ranger and taking the Pokeball containing Tyrogue.

Once the Ranger had walked off Buzz sprinted of to meet the trainer. "Hi, there I'm Buzz. I'll be your new Ranger, I hear you want to head towards the lakes. Well I know a perfect little area, its a cave and there is a huge body of underground water. Sound good?"

After seeing Leo off, Anna turned to her new ranger. "Hi, there I'm Buzz. I'll be your new Ranger, I hear you want to head towards the lakes. Well I know a perfect little area, its a cave and there is a huge body of underground water. Sound good?" Anna gave him a welcoming smile and nodded.

"Hello, Buzz. My name's Anna... but I assume you already know that. And yes, that sounds perfect. Much better than..." She was cut off by her Infernape, who was pulling on the bottom of her shirt. He looked up at her questioningly and then over at their new ranger, giving him a challenging look. "Oh, this is Vulcan," she said, giving her Pokemon a reassuring pat on the shoulders, "don't mind him... he's a little unsettled around strangers." Vulcan snorted, his gaze fixated on Buzz. Anna shook her head and rolled her eyes, "Well, would you like to lead the way?"

Buzz noticed the curiously coloured Infernape tugging at her shirt. "Oh, this is Vulcan, don't mind him... he's a little unsettled around strangers. Well, would you like to lead the way?"

Buzz chuckled, slightly nervously as the Infernape gazed at him. "Of course," He spluttered after a few seconds, realising he had a job to do. Introductions out of the way the pair began to walk further up the rocky path.

"The entrance is just, here!" Buzz said as he struggled to roll a rock out of the way of a small hole. Buzz jumped down quickly, "It's ok, it isn't a big drop."

Buzz found himself waiting at the bottom of a huge underground cavern, a large lake. But rather than being a deep blue, it was a pale white and the were Pokémon slipping on the surface. Buzz looked around the lake to find the cause of the problem. Floating above a rock protruding from the lake, a Froslass was sending out a white sparkling Ice Beam at the lake.

"Well that is a little bit odd, would you like to try and catch a Froslass? Either way, I will have to thaw the lake for all the other Pokémon."
