Beginner RP: Shenili

NBP #1

If there was ever a time to put a big HELP WANTED sign on the door leading into the main park office where trainers signed up to go on runs, now was the time to do it. Even the Head Ranger was taking on runs because they were so short staffed. It felt like as soon as Aleria got back from a run, they were throwing another one on her, and it was like that until they closed for the day.

Boy, was she looking forward to seeing some fresh meat around here when it came to rangers. As soon as all those new recruits came in, she was going to take a nice, long break. For now though, she'd take pride in the fact that a good chunk of the money was going into her pockets to feed her Pokemon. Her Pokemon were about to be spoiled when her next paycheck came in.

Of course, Aleria had just returned from a run when they were throwing another one in her face. Another new trainer into the park. She took the run, and she put in a request for some more supplies to be put in her bag at the park store. In the time it took them to fill her request for supplies, she was able to go to her office and grab a bottle of lemonade and one of those protein bars. Ever since she found herself spending more time here and less time at home, she found herself stocking the mini fridge in her office too.

Her next expedition took her out to Mt. Deckbi. It seemed like today was just a day of mountains. First Mt. Oktori, now Mt. Deckbi. She grabbed her bag from the park store and took the quickest route to Mt. Deckbi's entrance gate. Once she arrived, she took a seat, opened her protein bar, and started eating. If she was lucky, she'd finish before the trainer showed up. If not... well, she could just save the rest for later.

Max was loking and studying Pokemon he may find in the National Park, when something suddenly hit him in his left arm. Because of it, Max fell off his small wooden boat into the ocean. Black, Max's Dewott started giggling.

Purpur, Max's Sliggoo stopped rowing a boat, turned around and angrily looked on the Black. She tried to help Max out of the water, but because her hand was too slimy, Max fell of again. Black found this situation so funny he couldn't help but started laughing. Max somehow climbed climbed in the boat and as punishment for Discipline Pokemon, put him into a Pokeball.

After few hours they finnaly came closer to the National Park. Even from this distance, Mt. Deckbi looked more dangerous and beautiful than on pictures. After they came a bit more closer to the island they saw a person sitting on a bench next to gates leading to the mountain.

A trainer was approaching when Aleria looked up from her phone. She had been reviewing the trainer's information when he walked up. "You must be Max," she said as the trainer got closer. Al held up her phone for a moment to show that the device was how she knew his name. There was also the empty wrapper of the protein bar in her hand as well. "I was just doing a bit of review on the information they gave me in the office. I didn't get much of a chance to read it before I came over here."

She gave a little shrug and put the phone and the empty wrapper into her bag before opening the gate and leading the trainer in. Once they were inside, she closed the gate behind them. Not far along the path, there was a bit of a split. One path led into a cave, and another led around the base of the mountain. "Would you like to go into the cave or around the mountain?"

(Hi @Felly ! I wanted to ask, can you write me some environmental info about a cave we're heading to?)
Max finally swam to the island. Ranger sat on a bench and read something from her phone. She said: "You must be Max". Max nodded. "I'm Aleria." He wanted to ask her from where does she know his name but she held her phone with some information about him in front of his eyes, then she opened gates and they went to the Mt. Deckbi.

After just 15 minutes they came to a split and Aleria asked: "Would you like to go into the cave or around the mountain?" Max looked at his Pokedex. It was black and blue and looked a bit like Kanto Pokedex / Smartphone fusion and said: "Well.. if we go into a cave we may find some Digletts, but if we go around the mountains we may find a Bunnelby.." Max sat on the ground and started looking and reading something from his Pokedex. After a while, he stood up and took out a coin from his pockets: "Let's flip a coin! If heads we go into a cave, if tails we go around the mountain." Max threw a coin in the air but miss it and coin fell in a nearby dead bush. Suddenly bush started shaking and they saw an unknown Pokemon with Max's coin ran away into a cave. Max finally answered to Aleria's question: "Well.. we're heading into a cave then!"

 

NBP #3

Max pulled out a phone and pondered his choices for a moment when Aleria had presented him with the option of going into the cave or going around. One way, he could possibly find a Diglett. On the other, he could possibly find a Bunnelby. Both were pretty good Pokemon from what Aleria had seen of them. She'd never used any of them before, so she couldn't really say whether or not one was better than the other. Eventually, he ended up flipping a coin. That coin ended up going behind a nearby bush.

But there was a Pokemon there. Aleria had seen something, though she wasn't quite sure what it was. Whatever it was though, it went into the cave, and that was where Max had wanted to go. Probably to get his coin back. "Alright, cave it is."

She led him into the cave with her hand on a Poke Ball in her bag. Before they got too far into the darkness, she took the Poke Ball out and tossed it into the air. "Chandelier, come on out!" There was a brief flash of light that was then replaced with the light of a Chandelure. "Lead the way, Chandelier." Sure enough, the Pokemon led the way, not straying too far ahead of Aleria and Max. The light Chandelier provided bounced off the walls of the cave. Now that they could see, the cave was much like any other cave. Lots of rugged rocks, stalactite hanging from the ceiling... all in all, the typical cave. So far, there had been nothing overly significant about it.

Chandelier paused for a moment, and that caused Aleria to pause as well. "What's wrong?" she asked her Pokemon. Behind a rock, there was a bit of light that flickered for a brief moment and then went out. Chandelier was watching it. The light would flicker on, and then it would go back out. Aleria stepped around her Pokemon and approached the rock. Chandelier floated forward a bit to provide enough light for Aleria to see. Behind the rock was a Magby. It was too focused on trying to light a stick, presumably to make a torch. Scorch marks surrounded the stick on the ground. The Magby was probably missing the stick when it shot flames at it.

"There's a Magby over here," Aleria said, turning to Max. "Are you interested in one? It doesn't look like it has your coin, just a stick."

"There's a Magby over here," Aleria said, turning to Max. "Are you interested in one? It doesn't look like it has your coin, just a stick."

"No.." Max whispered. He didn't wanted to scare Magby. "I am looking for ground types."

Something in Max's belt pack started shaking. He opened it and took out his two Pokemon from it, Purpur and Black. Dewott wanted to go outside from a Pokeball.

Max said: "Eh.. ok, you can come out.." he pulled his hand in front of him and then red beam of light came out from the center of a Pokeball. Black appeared from a Pokeball, looked around and ran in the direction they were heading to.

Max looked at his second Pokeball and threw it too. Purpur may want to go outside and if they lost an exit, they can go back by Sliggoo's slimy trails.

After sending his Pokemon, Max closed a belt pack and they went the same direction as they were heading to.

Before Aleria and her trainer went further in the cave, Purpur came to Mugby. It didn't noticed her. She pointed her small hand on a stick and used Absorb. Small green particles came out of a stick and it turned completely dry. Magby, still not noticing Soft Tissue Pokemon, spitted on stick and it finally started burning. Purpur was very happy that she helped another Pokemon. She quickly ran (slided?) to Max. She left Magby alone with a small torch. Small light in the darkness.

NBP #4

"No," Max whispered. "I am looking for ground types."

Aleria wasn't sure why he whispered, but if she hadn't been listening for his response, she probably wouldn't have heard him. At any rate, he didn't want the Magby. His Pokemon wanted out of their Poke Balls though. He let out a Dewott first, followed by a Sliggoo. With his Pokemon out, Aleria made a mental note to not walk through any narrow pathways. If they ran into a Pokemon along one of those narrow paths, it wouldn't work out very well for them.

Before they moved along though, Max's Sliggoo took notice to the Magby and went over to help it with its torch. While the Magby didn't notice at first, it seemed pleased when the stick was suddenly able to be lit up by its flames. Aleria smiled at the Sliggoo as Magby looked up at the slimy Pokemon. "Magby, mag!" the Pokemon cheered, waving its torch in the air. It then ran off into the darkness, though after a moment, they couldn't see the little Fire type anymore.

"Nice job helping the Magby, Sliggoo," Aleria said to the Pokemon. She nodded to Chandelier, who continued to lead them through the cave. "Avoid any narrow paths, Chandelier. I don't want us to encounter a Pokemon and have to fight around each other."

"Chandelure," the Pokemon said softly.

It was a bit before Chandelier came to a pause. Her light bounced off of a blue rock. It rolled over, exposing its eye... hole thing. Aleria wasn't even sure what the hole in the middle of a Roggenrola's body was. Was it the Pokemon's eye or was it just a hole? She didn't even know. "A Roggenrola. It's not a Ground type, but maybe you're interested?"

"A Roggenrola. It's not a Ground type, but maybe you're interested?"

"Hm.." Max took out his Pokedex. Small camera on the back of it started glowing and image, status and other things about Roggenrola appeared on Max Pokedex's screen. He read Unova Pokedex statement made by someone named Rose in it. *The hexagonal-shaped hole is its ear. It has a tendency to walk in the direction the sound is coming from. *

Max said: "..we can try to catch him or get some experience while battling it!"
Black smiled and took shells in his hands.

On the other side, Purpur didn't like battling wild Pokemon. She took Max's hand and tried to stop him.

Max looked at her, smiled and said: "Don't worry Purpur. We don't hurt Roggenrola too much.". Then he looked at the Dewott and calmly said to him: "Throw your right shell in front of you and get ready for Razor Shell."

Dewott nodded and threw a shell in his right hand in front of him. Shell fell on the ground with a cracking sound of small falling stalactite. After that, Discipline Pokemon closed his eyes and focused on his scalchop. Suddenly, small sword made from light blue energy appeared, with shell as it's handle.

BP #1

Aleria watched as Max took out his Pokedex again and used that to help decide whether or not he should attempt to catch the Roggenrola. It was what the Pokedex said though that caught her attention. "Wait, what?" She said, looking at the device in Max's hand. "That hole is its ear?" She was speaking more to the device than Max, but really, she was just surprised. She never would've thought that hole was its ear.

Pokemon were weird.

More importantly though, Max had decided to battle the Roggenrola. Chandelier had floated off to the side, but not too far so that she could continue to shine light on the battlefield. She took just enough care to avoid the attacks of the Pokemon, especially since Rock type and Water type moves were particularly dangerous to the floating Fire type. Aleria took a step back too, wanting to more or less stay out of the danger of the upcoming battle.

Roggenrola, on the other hand, didn't really seem to care much about the battle. Instead, it just rolled around on the ground before them. Aleria raised an eyebrow at it. What was it planning to do? When it saw Dewott preparing for a fight though, it rolled onto its feet. Dewott took a shell from his body and held it in his right hand. The shell ended up taking the form of a blade, and the shell was the blade's handle.

The two Pokemon suddenly rushed towards each other. Dewott was faster, of course, having longer legs to move around on compared to Roggenrola's... lack of legs? Aleria peered at the creature for a moment. It didn't even really seem to have much in terms of legs. She shrugged. Roggenrola jumped up and slammed its body into Dewott, but at that same moment, the Water type slammed the blade into the Pokemon. Roggenrola hit the ground, ear first, and Dewott stumbled backwards a bit.

(I'm not sure if you're asking if it has gender or you want me to decide which gender is should have.)

Black was getting ready for another attack. He got in his fighting position and awaited Max's orders.

Max looked at his Pokedex one more time and said: "Hm.. looks like this Roggenrola is female! We can try this combo.. Black, use Aqua Jet!

Dewott nodded and started forming some kind of bubble in his hands. Bubble became so big that Dewott fit in it and then quickly ran towards the Roggenrola leaving a water trail behind him.

Purpur behind Max nervously looked at running Dewott and hoped that he will not hurt that Roggenrola much.

((Usually when a Ranger asks that question, it's so they know what gender you want the Pokemon to be, so yes, I'm asking what gender Roggenrola should have. I see your post says female, but for future reference, that's what the Ranger means when they ask that question.))

Aleria was admittedly a little confused when Max mentioned a combo. She admittedly expected something a little more than just one move. Oh well. More was bound to come out of this sooner or later.

Dewott formed a bubble with water he was conjuring from... somewhere. Aleria was always fascinated how Pokemon managed to conjure up things like water or leaves in areas that clearly didn't have them. The logic the Pokemon world held was truly fascinating. Dewott was able to fit inside the bubble, and then he rushed towards Roggenrola, striking the small rock and knocking him over. The little Rock type didn't move at first, and Aleria looked at it. Was it okay or was it just being lazy again? When she saw it start blowing sand out of its ear, she sighed. Aleria reached into her bag and pulled out a purple scarf. She wrapped it around her nose and mouth as the sand in the area got thicker and stronger. "Sorry, Chandelier," she called out to her Pokemon that she could barely see, her voice muffled by the scarf. Thankfully, she had a pair of goggles in her bag, and she put those on too. Being a Ranger for as long as she had been one taught her to be prepared. She always kept a scarf and a pair of goggles in her bag just for this reason.

Roggenrola got back up and started jumping. Small tremors shook the cave, and Chandelier started to get a little nervous. "It's alright, Chandelier. Roggenrola's not aiming for you," Aleria said to her Pokemon. She was able to see the light shining through all of the sand now that she was wearing the goggles. Suddenly, there was a bunch of rocks sliding from the ceiling, all of which landed on Dewott. The Water type was buried under all of the rocks, though his head and legs were poking out. Aleria glanced at Max. "With a little effort, your Pokemon should be able to get out of that," Aleria told the trainer to hopefully alleviate any worries he had about his Pokemon being seemingly trapped under the rocks. The sand continued to rage.

Black quickly got out from a rock trap Roggenrola made. He looked at Max, awaiting his instructions.

Max, wearing a black scarf and protecting his eyes from sand by cap nodded, looked at his Pokedex again and shout: "Black, let's try this combo! Use Swords Dance!"

Dewott nodded and closed his eyes. Little white particles started appearing around him. Small Discipline Pokemon started glowing white and opened his eyes. Particles around him disappeared and Dewott felt energy coming in his body.

"Now, use Razor Shell!" No one saw that but Max started smiling. Even in this Sandstorm this could work. Because of the water particles in the air made by Aqua Jet, Razor Shell could attack with even more power! "Attack!" Max shouted.

Black, started running towards the Roggenrolla. Swords Dance added a little boost to his speed too.

Purpur stood, shivering behind Max's back. Thankfully, because of the Sandstorm and her small eyes she didn't see how were Max and Black going to attack the Roggenrolla.

BP #3

It didn't take long for Dewott to get out from under the pile of rocks he had been buried under. He was out in a matter of moments.

Aleria was a little confused when she saw Max look at his Pokedex. Why did he do that? She knew he was a new trainer, but most new trainers she'd taken through the park on this type of run didn't really look at their Pokedexes as much as Max did. It didn't really matter though, she supposed. Whatever got him through his day to day life worked for him, and if it ain't broke, there's no point in fixing it... or so she always told herself.

Dewott's body glowed with a white energy as he gathered energy to strengthen himself. His concentration was broken though as more rocks fell onto his body. These rolled off instead of burying him again, which would likely please Max. Dewott was able to rush towards Roggenrola, despite being pummeled with rocks just a moment ago. The little rock braced herself for the attack, her body taking on a metallic glow as she crouched down.

Dewott smashed a shell into Roggenrola's body. The rock toppled over, but it was able to roll back onto its feet with some effort. The sand continued to swirl around them, and it didn't appear to be letting up any time soon.

( I'm gonna use Aqua Jet again here and I wasn't sure if I need to write how I used it. Let's just say that I used it the same way as before. Also I think I made alot of grammatical mistakes in this..)

"Uh.. Rogenrolla's Defense is getting bigger.." Max said while looking at it's Pokedex. " I know I used Swords Dance but I should try and use Special attacks.

While Max was thinking, Dewott stood in sandy vortex, his eyes stung and he just hoped that his trainer will do something before Rogenrolla.

"Let's try and attack from further distance.. Black! Use Aqua Jet to get as far as you can from it!"

Black nodded and jumped back while using Aqua Jet. It looked like he was jumping on Moon, Aqua Jet just threw him back, thus making a decently big distance between him and Roggenrolla.

"Now, Hydro Pump!"

Black shot a big blast of water from his mouth. Hydro Pump gathered a lot of sand particles in its way towards Rogenrolla and made it look like giant Mud Shot.

BP #4

Aleria watched as Max pondered his next actions. With Roggenrola's Defense on the rise, the trainer opted to go for a more special attack based approach than physical. Nothing too wrong with that, though the Dewott had just used Swords Dance. His attack was higher than the Roggenrola's Defense.

Oh well. Whatever worked for him, she supposed.

An Aqua Jet got Dewott out of the sandy vortex that he and Roggenrola were trapped in. She wasn't quite sure what had happened to the Roggenrola, but she hadn't seen her topple out from anywhere. She was likely still inside the vortex. Max had the same thinking as her, as he had his Dewott shoot a Hydro Pump at the vortex. The force of the attack caused Roggenrola to roll out of the vortex and crash into a large rock. Thankfully this was an actual rock and not another Pokemon, so there were no worries there. Roggenrola, who was now covered in a bit of wet sand that was now sticking to her body, shot a few rocks from the hole in her body at Dewott. The first surprised the Water type, the second knocked him back a bit, and the third knocked him down completely.

Roggenrolla Rock Blast knocked Dewott down. He hit his head a bit and felt dizzy. He was still able to stand up tho and got ready for next Roggenrolla's attack.

Max looked at Roggenrolla's health in his Pokedex: " Hm.. I think this is enough, let's just use one more attack to be sure. Black, use Aerial Ace!"

Purpur was happy to hear that battle it's gonna end. She hugged Max's legs.

Dewott nodded, he took his shell and focused energy he had left. Long, thin light- purple blade appeared at the end of scalchop. He ran towards Roggenrolla. He knew he's not gonna miss.

Dewott was able to get back up after the third Rock Blast from Roggenrola knocked him down. Aleria looked to Dewott's trainer. Both Pokemon were starting to show signs of fatigue from the battle, but Dewott had a lot more fight in him than the Roggenrola did.

"Hm.. I think this is enough, let's just use one more attack to be sure. Black, use Aerial Ace!" Max said.

Dewott followed his trainer's command, nodding. He took the shell he wore on his body and focused his energy into it, forming it into a thin, purple blade with the shell as the handle. Roggenrola did nothing to brace herself for the oncoming Aerial Ace. The Flying type attack wouldn't do much to the Roggenrola thanks to her rock hard body. Sure enough, Dewott struck the Roggenrola with the purple blade. Roggenrola stumbled a bit, but she didn't topple over this time. She retaliated by shooting a flash of light out of the hole in her body that knocked Dewott back. The Water type didn't fall over, but he was knocked back to where Max and his Sliggoo were standing.

"Flash Cannon," Aleria commented. "If you want to catch the Roggenrola, you'll want to try and do it soon. Looks like she's getting pretty exhausted."
