Just kidding, there's no new referee. The title should have been a dead giveaway. We're actually...

    Removing Basics!

    Well... kinda.

Let's face it - basic battles have been a joke for a long time. The current system of 1v1s is treated like a chore, intended to be completed as quickly as possible. While removing permabasics did solve the issue of this chore being abusable for profit, it didn't improve the actual process.

What we're actually removing is the 1v1 battle system. Don't worry though! We're also adding a number of new alternatives, based on some popular requests, with the intention of making 1v1 battles completely obsolete (hence their removal).

Pokemon will still require the same amount of experience to evolve; five per stage for three-stage Pokemon, and seven for two-stage Pokemon. The following methods will provide one EXP when the basic Pokemon is used.

Give one TM/BM/MT/SM and choose Nickname or Nature (only applicable once)
Start off that initial bonding with your new Pokemon with a bonus EXP point.
Participate in any battle, FFA or contest
With the removal of 1v1s, all battles are now 2v2+. A basic Pokemon participating in any battle, FFA or contest will earn one EXP point.
Complete a battle in the park without fleeing
Complete three encounters in the park

By very popular request/suggestion, it's now possible to roleplay the evolution of your basic Pokemon! Any completed battle in the park, including captures, will earn one EXP point. Completing three non-battle encounters will also earn an EXP point.
    Use a Rare Candy
Yes, you are reading that right - this is the quickest, most efficient option for players who just want to get their fully evolved Pokemon onto the battlefield. Rare Candies will be added to the Pokemart at a cost of $500 each, making it possible to fully evolve any Pokemon for $3500/$5000 at the time of purchase.
The Starter Package will also now include five Rare Candies to help newer players become competitive quickly.
Before the rest of you all cry "Where are my Rare Candies!?!" in celebration of this addition we're giving everyone five too. You can feed your Pokemon almost as much as Seppe feeds his lane opponents.
Finally, there are also a couple of quick, efficient methods for the roleplayers. The following will ignore EXP, and evolve a Pokemon one stage on completion:

Complete a Special Mission in After Hours
Special missions intended for evolution will be incorporated into After Hours. A three-stage Pokemon will require 3-5 posts per stage, and a two-stage Pokemon will require 5-7 (depending on quality)
Complete a Beginner Run in the park
Beginner runs contain five low-tier encountered, perfect for new members to use basics, and will earn a full evolution stage.
All these methods aim to improve engagement with new players, allowing them to experience the variation of play styles in URPG, rather than forcing them into chore-like grinding right off the bat. It also provides several much more enjoyable or much easier options for established players.

    URPG 2.0, 2016.

Have fun! Or don't, I'm a post, not a cop.

I was always a little hesitant about this but it seems like the staff did a really good job at sorting out the nitty gritty here. Will be cool to see how this changes the basics dynamics

Thanks, Syn. I anticipate that this process will take some getting used to, particularly for the older people who were used to profit for so long, but I think this will encourage more activity in other sections as a whole! Which works nicely with our new legends program :3

Also I can't remember if we told people to post in thread or not for candies, but I'm doing so anyway.

Ooooh candy, I'll tap claim that.

A quick question, will new people still get the free Pokemon/Move coupon and 10K? Not that it concerns me in anyway, but would like to know.

The Starter Package remains unchanged except for the addition of 5 rare candies to it.

Umm... what if the pokemon gets enough Exp in the middle of the Beginner Run? Because mine will reach 7 Exp with one battle.

Continue on of course! Beginner runs aren't just for evolving your Pokemon! If you meet the requirements mid-run, you could probably RP the evolution right then and there which should be fun and give a boost to your MCR! =]

If you let your ranger know, rping it evolving should be fine. I havent actually decided the rule on it so you may be my guinea pig. Normally park is static time--you cant use moves you didnt own when you signed up. In some cases evolution would give someone many more moves but this should be fine, as they are not extra bought moves.

However, please not that beginner runs are all or nothing for one evo stage. They dont count exp like normal runs do, so im not sure your case applies. Will look into it more when im not mobile.

    Claiming those candies.

After a quick read it looks to me like you've just effectively switched 2v2s with 1v1s for the basic machine - and added creative stuff for creative people.

At least 2v2s can pull FEs to make them quicker.

You make (or at least imply I guess?) a valid point about it still being abuse-able; we are still tweaking things around to try and make this less so. Do keep in mind, though, that people who walk the line of abuse and pummel other members with FEs in basic battles constantly are not going to be tolerated. URPG is a honors-based system in many ways and we expect our members to have some level of integrity and fairness. You can find ways to even things out, it isn't difficult. With 1v1s, it was very difficult and very abuse-able.

I also think you've downplayed the weight of adding creative evolution methods. You can call me biased or w/e but in the end I believe adding those is a pretty big deal! It's just another step away from forcing people to use the battle section in order to advance.

Didn't mean to downplay those, i'm simply indifferent to creative methods because I'm not a creative person.

First off, I want to thank @WinterVines for letting me know this existed, cuz I was about to drop some serious cash at the Pokemart. (I'm claiming my 5 candies to get my Duskull w/ 5 battles to evolve now into Dusknoir) :D

Second, dammit @Monbrey for masking it under a dumb thread title
I had to use the search function to find this.

Third: This is a cool way of doing stuff. I approve, not that my opinion counts but still. :)
