Once upon a time, when Pe2k was the sole host of URPG, referees could roll Hidden Power types for those who needed them rolled.

Then, the officials had a meeting, and decided that while referees could be trusted to ref full-length battles without witnesses and not be biased to one party or another [CREDIT TO LS FOR THIS <3], they were now no longer trusted to roll a dice with a mandatory witness.

I think you can see the point I'm trying to make here.

Seriously, I don't think we ever got a real explanation as to why Refs couldn't roll Hidden Power anymore. I could so easily cheat in a Revolution battle by telling the battler I liked more what moves their opponent was using, yet the only way I could cheat a Hidden Power roll is by getting the witness to lie too. And tbh, who's gonna go to that much trouble?

    Refs4rollingHP again plz

    1) Please give me credit
    2)Does it really matter?
    3) Less work for refs and more work for officials so why complain?

Edit: Solution, make all people that have URPGed from 2006 officials.

Due to the recent issues we've had with people allegedly changing their Hidden Power types, I think it's fine the way it is. Very rarely can you get on and there not be a willing official online to roll one for you. If you're that impatient that you can't wait a couple of hours, well...

Because people changing their HP types has everything to do with who rolled it.

It's mostly just unnecessary. Nothing is broken with the current system. I've never waited more than an hour or two for a Hidden Power roll, and usually I don't wait five minutes.

Until you can say how Refs rolling it is broken, "nothing is broken at the moment" is an invalid argument, as it wasn't broken before yet still got changed.

At the very least, an explanation of WHY Refs are no longer allowed to roll from the officials would be nice.

I'm just saying, if there's nothing wrong you don't try and fix it.

I agree with Roulette. There's plenty of officials now, so there really isn't a need for all refs to need to roll them, despite being trustworthy or not. That's not the issue. Rolling HPs just seems like an Official thing to do, just like Approvers and the Mart. Everyone could easily approve each other, and since you list prices and stats are available for cross reference, it's not easy to cheat, but we don't do that either. I don't see a need for it.

I remember when the world was a better place, and we could trust everyone and not have to link to every single thing because of the lack of this beautiful trust.

Sorry, MK, but this just seems like a bad idea. I don't want to name names *cough* NEAR *cough*, but some refs just seem like they shouldn't be trusted with things... If it's that big of a deal, maybe just argue for senior refs to be able to. Not that there's any senior refs that aren't officials, but *shrugs*

EDIT: Leave things as they are. If someone can legitimately not find a HP Roller for six hours straight then I'll support this.

    SECOND EDIT: Maybe.

Also, some witnesses could easily be persuaded to do the wrong thing. NOT LIKE I'M ONE OF THEM! Especially when I'm drinking. Like now. (this took like 25 minutes to properly type without typos, y'all better appreciate it)

I'm lol'ing at how everyone's saying "Oh, it's not a big deal/it doesn't matter/this isn't worthwhile enough to even think about/etc...", yet obviously it was a big enough deal to change in the first place. Double standard, much? ;o

Regardless of past decisions, its certainly not a big enough deal that we would have to change it back, is it? ;o

If the problem is as bad as you think it might be good to petition for a "Roll my HP" thread instead.
It'd work like the mart. Trainers ask for a roll, whichever official looks in the thread can roll them and post saying what you got.
That way you don't have to hound them on aim or anything and simply check back to see if you were rolled for.

Also a thread like this can determine if rolls are actually being taken care of.
I recall the mart had approval issues too ;P

    //old rule book
    Meh, here I go again.

Simple reason, back in PE2K days, REFS >>>>>>>>> OFFICIALS
    Now, REFS >>> OFFICIALS.

That's the reason, plain and simple.
It's not that we don't trust the refs, but stuff like this has always been the terrain of officials and acceptors. Refs just got a provisional license to carry out the rolling when officials were scarce.

    end old rule book//
