With the URPG Times not really working out due to the lack of interest for writing articles, I was kind of disappointed that I could no longer write the Pokemon of the Week. I actually had fun doing them. What I wanted to propose, is maybe just an article for a Pokemon of the Week every once in a while, similar to what serebii has, but probably not as frequent.

The focus of the article would be rolled randomly and obviously articles would not be posted any less than a week (maybe more?) apart. There would be several segments including Overview/Nomenclature, Design/Origin, anime appearances, and battle strategy. The battle strategy section would only focus on the fully evolved form of the rolled Pokemon (unless it has a viable NFE form), and consist of at least an Overview, Top 5 EMs to buy, and useful helds. No matter what every article would have to have at least those 4 sections, and an image or two at least. Since this is a standalone project as opposed to the URPG Times, the rewards/incentives surrounding it would also be different.

For the next week (maybe more) after the article is posted, the Pokemon being focused on would have all members of its evolutionary line (not including split evolutions because lol eeveelutions) decreased by 1 rank. Anyone already in possession of the focus Pokemon or one of its immediate evolutionary relatives would receive a free 5K or less EM / HA on that Pokemon if they use it in a battle, park run, or contest during that week and post a link to the log/park post. Since you could easily start a run with the Pokemon in question just to claim the prize, a character limit for a post involving the focus Pokemon could be set. Only 1 of these prizes can be applied. So if you earn the Pokemon while its rank is lowered, you can't do basics with it or whatever and claim a free EM. If you take the free EM, that Pokemon's rank will no longer be lowered.

Anyone would be able to write the article, but it would have to be PM'd to and edited by an editor or grader before posting. There would be a thread where you could sign-up for writing the next article to avoid receiving too many at once. The writer of the article would receive either 5K (they would also be eligible for the free EM and the rank-down) or the Pokemon itself if its first evolutionary stage is Simple or lower. The editor/grader of the article would receive 2K for their help as well. If multiple people work on one article, pay would be split between them, but only 1 person does the editing. To avoid abuse, a character limit could also be set either per section or overall.

Finally, to roll the week's Pokemon, the writer would need to consult a Staff member and create a chat with just the Staff member and the writer where the Pokemon will be rolled. This is to prevent people from choosing their Pokemon, while still minimizing the amount of people that know in advance what the article will be about. Legendary Pokemon would be rerolled.

This is just an idea for something fun and informative to be introduced without having to rely on too many people at once. It would also do some small promoting for all of the sections if people decide to take advantage of the lowered rank, or if they want to claim their EM/HA. Let me know if you think this is a realistic idea, and how it could be changed or improved!

I'm in support of this. I'd really love to see the Times continue though, it's just that nobody ever wants to stay in charge of editing, or continually write articles every month.

Honestly, I think a system were anybody can participate like you suggested would be much better.

I would love this idea. I'm still new to competitive battling so learning what em's are good for it and how to use it in battle would be super helpful!

This can also be published on the PXR website. Might be a good way to advertise the URPG outside of our section.

I support the payment for this kind of work with an extra bonus if it goes on PXR (since it needs to be put into Wordpress).
