Alright, so some of us in the staff boards have been a bit eager to have another Tourney ready to follow the FFA Tourney/Risk, but we can't really decide WHAT we want to do. So that's up to you guys. The two Tourney ideas that have grabbed the most traction among us are:

Battle Factory: Fairly self explanatory, you receive rental pokemon, get to swap them if you win, etc. We may have done this in the past, but I can't seem to find an example to link.

The URPG Budget Tournament: As it explains it all in the thread, I'll offer a short summary. You're given spending money to purchase rental pokemon (in the Budget Tourney Mall) and battle with said pokemon. Those who lose receive a small portion of their leftover funds. You're given more funds each round to purchase more rental pokemon/TMs/Items/etc.

    CHOOSE WISELY

Yeah, the prizes could use a little work. Though, it wasn't ALL that ridiculous, as we did have pretty large participation.

Budget tourny would be nice for newer players as they can test out combinations on pokemon they don't already own. Also could help some decide what pokemon they want to actually own later.

I like both Budget and Battle Factory Tournament. I was also working on a Legend Tournament, but it requires Tiering the legends, which I'm almost done with but could use some opinions on.

Battle factory is simpler and I think after the two current tournaments we could do with something that is easier to decipher. plus getting random Pokemon is exciting

I honestly couldn't care less either way haha. Both options seem pretty interesting and fun to participate in.
Battle Factory's nice 'cos you get random 'mons (you have the opportunity to use stuff you never would've considered using before and, who knows, you might find that you actually like that certain 'mon) and compared to Budget Tourney, it's much simpler - don't have to worry about, well, budgeting and such. Although, the dice can be such trolls sometimes, so yeah. and considering my luck I kinda don't want to chance it XD
Budget Tourney's great too, because, like mlouden said, it could help a number of us use other Pokemon and test out certain combinations of moves and stuff on them without actually having to spend our own URPG money. It's especially helpful if, for example, someone's considering getting this certain Pokemon but isn't sure if he/she really wants it, and he/she could use this tournament to test it out. It's like the Battle Factory in this regard, where we can get the chance to try out new things and stuff. xD I think the downside would be that it's a bit more complicated than the Battle Factory and after all these tourneys (or FFAs, rather xP) that have rather complex rules and stuff, I think quite a number of us would like something simpler/more laid back.

THAT BEING SAID, I would honestly still prefer a good, ol' bracket tourney without too many added gimmicks and whatnot. :)

Good old bracket tourneys. Gotta love progressing though inactivity.

You're head ref, do something about it. Bracket tournaments are a pretty standard type of tournament, there's no reason that they would be unmanageable.

They're easily managed, by eliminating inactive people. I'd just rather not have to do that.

Then, find a way to motivate people to actually do their battles. Extra incentive or (preferably) some form of punishment would accomplish that purpose. People that join bracket tournaments should be held accountable for getting their battles done, otherwise why join? Encourage scheduling a battle as soon as the round is posted, and that type of crap.

Dude, we do that every single time. You're not suggesting anything new. The punishment for not battling is elimination - fines don't really work here, unless we charge an entry bond that gets refunded upon a proper elimination through battle or something obscure like that. As for motivation, we attempt that through interesting tournament ideas that people will actually participate in, but instead we get shot down because its not a "regular bracket tourney".

Damned if we do, damned if we don't.

Both are cool and I'd love to do both, but I went with BF because the battles aren't going to consist of the same mons every time.
